wont be on social media due to the global strike happening this week. please make an effort to help the families in gaza by:

• avoid going to the store, restaurants, or to the movies. the goal is to be disruptive, hit the economy and be noticeably absent.

• using social media ONLY to spread posts about palestine. don’t use apps otherwise. let palestinian content flood the online world during strike days. only engage w/ palestine related content.

• be visible — make signs, set up posters on ur window sill, hand out stickers, let the world know.

if you can’t do it all, that is fine!

every little thing matters and will count towards the strike. stay safe and see you soon! 🍉

[id: digital comic of a child laying flat on their back amongst rubble, their eyes lifeless and glasses broken. the text says, "I'm dying."

"Cute cat": a fluffy cat stares up, residing outside a scratchy, rough building on a sidewalk.

"Barbed wire.": two children look up a wall with barbed wires, a ball caught neatly in between.

"Is my life flashing before my eyes?" is written out in white text against a black background.

"Severed hand": the person looks down, their shoes peeking from the bottom of the panel. in front of them, a child's severed hand lies on the ground, blood splattered from beneath the rubble.

"Crying baby": a parent smiles to comfort their crying child on a hospital floor. behind them, a doctor walks past.

"Smug soldier": a soldier stands, resting their hand on the butt of their rifle, looking down. their eyes are blocked out by black scribbles.

The remaining panels are in plain text, reading: "I'm sorry, body. I'm sorry arms, legs, eyes and heart. I couldn't give you enough. They didn't let me give you enough."

We don't want to die in the cold

I told you about our tent sinking on the last day of 2024 AD.

I told you that I was hosting a friend in his cramped tent.

I asked you for help as soon as possible to obtain a new tent, but unfortunately since then donations have been very, very weak.

Last night, I started feeling unbalanced, dizzy, feeling very cold, my heart was shaking, and my whole body was shaking. I asked, “I want a hospital,” and I felt at that moment, “I’m going to die from the cold.”

I understood how it is possible to stop the heart from getting cold, how we die cold, I kept telling them we were cold!

They took me to the doctor, he started doing tests, my temperature was high, I lost 9 kilos in less than a week, they asked me for new tests and I currently don’t know where I will get them done because there are no hospitals.

I have imbibed the pain of the cold, the trembling of my children's hearts, their cold has penetrated the depths of my heart, I am truly looking for warmth, my heart is freezing, I do not want to die of cold.

Free Palestine - ceasefire now!

There is currently a strike for Palestine taking place from February 18th, 2024, to February 25th, 2024. During this time, I will only be posting about Palestine on this account and doing what I can to spread awareness. If you are able, I highly recommend participating in the strike in whatever way you are able - something is always better than nothing. Staying home from work and/or school, not buying anything that isn't strictly necessary, using your social media platforms only to boost posts about Palestine, etc., are all ways to help the efforts!

Below are various links for ways you can help Palestine, including educational resources, petitions, fundraisers, etc. If you have any to add on, please do, these are just the ones I've found so far.

Palestine Red Crescent Society

Palestine Children's Relief Fund

eSims For Gaza

Donate direct aid to Gaza (run by a longtime activist and volunteer who has been carrying out donations and humanitarian projects in Gaza since 2021)

Buy from the Hirbawi factory (this is the last kufiya factory in Palestine that is still active, purchasing helps support the Palestinian economy, which has not been in a great state for a while)

The entire University of California (10 schools!) just called for an official UAW backed strike due to the Palestine protests! So proud of the tens of thousands of grad students putting their labor on the line for the cause.

In light of this I wanted to share the most relevant design from my fundraiser again, the sabo-tabby (aka black cat, wildcat, sab cat) with a keffiyeh. This is an old IWW symbol still commonly used for strikes and labor organizing today. I met the friend I am fundraising for through his labor activism (I started asking him too many questions and he recruited me to help haha). He is an incredibly clever and effective activist who has been involved in a lot of successful labor movements, and this symbol is very dear to him (as is the keffiyeh of course).

As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for this friend who is Palestinian. The extra income will help him support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.

Some product examples (this one is particularly nice for stickers I think):

IF YOU CANNOT STRIKE 18-24 FEB

many people find themselves unable to call into work or school to strike! they might not have enough sick days saved up, it may not be financially viable, they need to be in to study or their parents may not allow them to strike.

this is entirely understandable! many of us are young or otherwise at risk due to our government and precarious life circumstances. however.do NOT post about not making others feel bad for not being able to strike. any posts you see about others not striking will be about those WILLFULLY ignoring the strike [posting about unrelated things, going into work, etc when they are fully capable of doing so

posting about the ethics of seeing these posts and how it makes people feel bad draws away from the main subject of the strike, palestine. as people unable to strike, the best and only thing you can do right now is post ONLY about palestine! [only, of course, with the exception of filler tweets to avoid getting sh4dowbanned. these tweets should be marked as filler and should be as boring as possible as to not get a lot of engagement] PLEASE REPOST AND SHARE SO PEOPLE CAN SEE IT BEFORE AND DURING THE STRIKE !! THIS MINIMISES CHANCES OF STUPID DISCOURSE DURING THE STRIKE LIKE WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME !!

[ID: A keffiyeh, also spelled kuffiya, is a square-shaped cotton headdress with a distinctive chequered pattern worn in many parts of the Arab world.
The black-and-white variant, worn by Palestinian men and women, has come to symbolise the Palestinian struggle for self-determination, justice and freedom.

The olive-leaves pattern represents perseverance, strength and resilience.
The fishnet pattern represents Palestinian fishers and the people’s connection to the Mediterranean.
The bold pattern represents trade routes with neighbouring merchants of Palestine. END ID]

The olive tree has deep historical and cultural roots in Palestine, and its branches have been associated with peace and prosperity for centuries.
The hardy trees can handle drought, subzero temperatures, frost and even fire. They are symbolic of Palestinian resilience against Israeli occupation and their connection to the land.

Olive cultivation plays a crucial role in the Palestinian economy through olive oil, table olives and soap production.

About 80,000 to 100,000 Palestinian families rely on the olive harvest for their income, which takes place every year between October and November. Traditionally, the harvest season is a time of festivities and joy, but tight Israeli restrictions and settler attacks overshadow it. END ID]

[ID: In 1948, Zionist military forces expelled at least 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands in what became known as the Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic). Those people took their keys with them, sure they would return.
Many Palestinians still hold onto the keys to their original homes as a symbol of their hope and determination to return one day. These keys have been passed down several generations and are kept as a symbol of Palestinians’ right to return – a principle enshrined in international law that grants individuals the right go back to their homes of origin.
During Israel’s latest offensive in Gaza, at least 1.5 million Palestinians have been driven out of their homes, double the number of those displaced during Nakba in 1948. For Palestinians, Nakba is not a discrete historical event. It is an ongoing process of displacement that has never stopped. END ID]
