An honest study tip is don't try to romanticize studying. Like, it's good but it works for around a week and then you're back to your lazy couch potato because you can't even sit and study and now you have added extra things that need to be done to actually study. You've added more steps.... Which makes it an even harder task.
Try actually being.... Let's say scared? Recently, I've got this interesting tip, I actually think about the worst possible result I could get and the reactions I'd get and that always gets me going. Because fear is always a better motivator.
I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. Honestly I just wanna sit back and cry. I have around 11 lessons for tomorrow's exam and let me tell you, it's not pleasant. T-T
Did 7+ hours of Business Studies
Completed Arabic Assignment
My brain is honestly fried. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, i hope the exam is easy tomorrow :")
Did I count the days wrong? Yup, definitely did. Well, let's just say that I have no idea how I'm managing. But today's exam was suprising. Really really suprising. I surprisingly remember the lessons we'll enough even without going through them that means I've learnt them good enough.
(By the way, i completed my English exam yesterday and my business studies exam today. Now I have my English (part 2) exam tomorrow and Business studies (part 2) on Monday.)
Studied English +2 hours
Honestly I feel like English is the only subject where i actually am calm and don't panic for the exam. The poetry and everything combined is so .... Fascinatingly serene.
I'm back. After a long time, I'm finally back at posting these regular updates. I had a huge stagnant month but I feel like I'm getting back on track.... It's not even 2 months before my finals start and I'm not that anxious but still anxious. I've got 16 exams till February 2nd week and then cancel 3 days because of school events etc etc.... I've literally got 35 days T-T
I've got an exam tomorrow so :")
Today I:
Did 2+ hours of business studies
Learnt for English 2+ hours
You can only get ahead if you start. So this is your friendly reminder to start whatever that you've been ignoring/procrastinating.
We are at the end of 2024 and I feel the need to say this
You don't have to be guilty for the goals you didn't get to achieve for this year because of mental health/any other problems.
You can be guilty for the goals you didn't achieve because of laziness and procrastination. It's human honestly.
The person you look up to in terms of their goals and achievements may or may not be disappointed in themselves because of something too.
Someone looks up to you in terms of their goals and achievements without you knowing about them.
You don't need a new year to change your life and get a new you.
If you're struggling with addiction/ compulsive behaviours (anything really), a reminder that it takes time and it doesn't disappear overnight and it's normal to relapse. That doesn't mean you haven't achieved your goal.
And on the other hand, if you're trying to work on a productive habit but are unable too, that is also normal. Habits take time to form.
It's okay to not have goals for the new year.
It's also okay to have a huge list of goals for the new year.
It's okay to feel excited for new beginnings.
It's okay to feel dreadful and anxious about it too.
It's okay to not be okay.
There's no "New year. New me". There's only "New year. Old me with modifications." So, don't wait for the new year to work on yourself. Take small steps now so at the end of any year, you can actually say "I'm really happy with how I was this year and I'm only hoping to be better for the coming years". There's absolutely no time frame for changing yourself.
A technique i use to calm my anxiety sometimes is just think about this question "Would this (thing/person/problem) be relevant if I was on my death bed or on the verge of dying?" Like obviously not. The thing you're probably worrying about would not even have an impact on your next day because life goes on. Whether you like it or not. It will go on. So.... Rather than panicking and not getting any thing done, it's better to panick and get things done, it actually helps with the panick.
A reminder to everyone who feels overwhelmed. It is okay. It's okay to be nervous because of the work overload. It's also okay to be overwhelmed by the work you had to do but procrastinated. It's okay. It's going to be okay. Start now and everything will be okay. It's better to complete atleast half or quarter of the work then not do anything at all.
I honestly got really off track here, it's been a mess for the past few days and honestly i'm kinda in a processing mode, a lot is happening and i feel disassociated with reality alittle but i guess life goes on?
What was i doing the past few days? Trying to study with severe cramps and not overthink anything... its not really working. I have like ton of tests and assignments next week and mid terms start the week after next and i am not ready.
I don't find myself studying or doing anything and honestly, i need a break but i can't get one until December end and we'll only get like a week so it's gonna be hard but i think i'll manage
Today wasn't bad but not too good either :")
Honestly I'm overthinking quite a lot because of the finals so much that i got a freaking headache.... Anxiety has been following me around all week, I don't even know how I'm gonna manage...
Today I:
Studied Accounts (2hr 15mins)
Studied Business studies (1hr)
Honestly nothing much but gosh, my major problem is studies plus teacher pressure and subtract your hobbies/interest multiply zero time and divide your health. Isn't the equation really good? T-T
I can do it... atleast i hope i can. Tomorrow i have school till 3, I'll be at home by 4: 30 and tomorrow is fully accounts in the evening so I'll be studying either economics or business studies in the morning... let's see.
Well hey there, it's been a productive despite me not going to school and honestly I'm really proud of myself for actually doing something useful for once xD
Completed (yesterday and today)
Economics assignment
English assignment (20%)
Accountancy (3-4hr)
Business studies (1hr 30mins)
Computer Ppt done
I havn't been touching Arabic so I kinda have to start. Plus i got like an English test tomorrow :")
That's it for today <3
So, we're going back on the countdown... Since my final exam schedule just got released and honestly I'm feeling kinda excited. If this was last year, I was literally really nervous and was overwhelmed but this year? I just feel calm and excited.
I'm gonna start to study more consistently from now, especially in Arabic and business studies so let's see.
That's it for now <3
How have you guys been?
Okay, today was interesting ...
I got my results and I'm only disappointed in accounts.... Even though i didn't score that bad ://
Anyway, I am starting to be a little more productive atleast from some days... I'm planning to make use of this term because honestly I don't know how we are gonna get our final papers...
Today I:
Did accounts + made notes
Revised economics
Revised Business studies
And I'm currently reading this self help book "Think straight" by Darious Foroux. It's kinda good actually, it's been a while since I've read anything so it's nice from my usual routine.
Okay, time's flying really fast. My term exam results come on Monday or Tuesday and my accountancy teacher told me that I did really bad and that she was disappointed in me and that i should concentrate more on it.
So, I'm wondering how the heck did I do bad in a subject that I was studying almost everyday?! And then this other girl studied 3 days before the exam and got like 95+
Honestly, the paper was alright but i panicked and did some shitty things :// gonna avoid that in the future.
Today I:
Revised some Economics
Did accounts (1 and a half hours)
And yes, I'm gonna be putting extra effort from now on because it's really close to my next term exams and then it's gonna be followed by Revision exams and I have a school function on top of that.... i just wanna sit and cry honestly T-T
Projects to complete:
Economics (by Monday)
Computers (By Oct end)
You're not obliged to live your life fulfilling other people's dreams.
I just finished my term exams yesterday and honestly, school starts in like 4 more days so I'll make the most use of my time till then. I've got multiple projects to complete and right now, my main aim is to learn from the mistakes I did during the exams. Especially in accounts.
My projects:
Computer
Business studies
Economics
[I'll start my countdown once my school starts again]
Explore. Clubs. Extra curriculars. Sports. Anything. When you get to freshman year, start exploring. Even if you're a sophomore, junior or senior. Start exploring because you need to be involved in something other than your school. (But don't overdo it!! Max of 2-3 extracurriculars)
Do your homework/assignments as soon as you can.
Get a planner/calender. Update it daily.
Exercise. Dance. Jog. Jump. Do whatever you want but exercise atleast 3 times a week.
Sleep earlier. Before 11 preferably.
Whatever you do, don't back answer a teacher.
Allow yourself to relax but don't overdo it.
Choose your friends carefully. Keep 2 or 3 close friends.
Don't just blabber everything about anything. Think before you speak
Don't involve yourself in any sorts of drama. Clear everything out before it even starts cause it's definitely gonna backfire if you don't
Choose your friends carefully. I mean, very carefully.
Time is investment, use it to your advantage.
For exams, solve past year question papers!!!
Have a doubt in something? Go ask your teacher (it will save you the trouble)
YouTube has a wide variety of videos for you to learn from
Study everyday. Just for an hour. It's more than enough.
Read. Read. Read. Write. Write. Write. Anything.
Honestly, get a study group. (I mean it. Don't study together in the same place. Just send important questions and ask doubts.)
Study things that were thought in previous classes. You will be behind the class but it definitely helps during exams/tests.
Most of all, try to enjoy. You won't get back your highschool years. I realise that now.
I did a similar post a few months ago. The mistakes that I made during my junior year. You can find it here.
Hope this helps! :D
Well... I had been sick the past few days but right now I'm better. Atleast well enough to study. Tomorrow we have school till 1, I'll be back by 3 so after that I'll start my studies... I have my term exams from next week, I just feel exhausted and tired now T-T
To do list for the weekend :
Complete English assignment
Complete 1 unit of English (3 lessons + grammar)
Complete 1 chapter in Accounts + Revise some previous chapters
Complete 2 chapters in Economics
Complete 8 chapters Part 1-3 in Business Studies
I hope I'm able to complete these :")
.
Social Media.
I personally know how hard it is to study when constant social media notifications are popping up so i just turn them off. This is obvious and the easiest way. Keep your phone in another room while you're studying.
Youtube
Here's the thing, YouTube is something we can't avoid, especially when it comes to studying because many times, we want to learn from the videos but end up getting distracted and therefore, i maintain 2 accounts. One, a personal account where I watch all my own channels like vlogs and other content videos and another account only for studying. I don't subscribe to any other channels beside the channels that help me with my studies in this account. I've noticed that I get a lot less distracted because your recommendations would only be study related or the content related!
Write them down
When you're studying and you noticed that you're getting a lot of distractions. Take a paper and write down the distractions with the timings and then continue studying.
Distractions - Time
Phone - 20 min (specify time: 8:20-40)
By this, you can analyse what's distracting you more than the others and you can actually calculate your study hours better and help yourself improve it.
Reduce everything by 5 mins
It's okay to get distracted. Everyone gets distracted and the best way to decrease your distractions is to decrease them by 5 mins for some days and then keep decreasing them gradually. It's the best way to work honestly because it helps you remove the distractions over time as a habit.
Complete your chores before sitting down
You might know that whenever you sit down with a firm motivation to study and then you take your notes, books, materia etc and a voice from the kitchen comes saying"You haven't finished the dishes!" So, now you go to do the dishes and then another chore pops up when you sit to study and another and another. So, here's my advice, either you complete all your chores before you study or you complete them after or you could complete them during breaks. But make sure you're not distracted by them.
Turn daydreaming into a weapon
Personally, this is something i really really struggled with, like whenever I sit down to study, I ended up daydreaming about a certain book or plot. It would definitely not help me study so recently, I started assigning fictional characters to subjects and personally, like, gosh my economics was alittle more interesting when I was "teaching" it to Cardan Greenbriar (tfota). It's kinda childish to have like an imaginary friend or such but it certainly helps with boring subjects. Imagine scenarios or do anything with your imagination as long as you're studying the content. It helps you remember important points even though it may be absurd.
Q and A sessions
From time to time, get in the habit of quizzing yourself, I do it after every topic i complete. I'll ask questions which are not in the book, I'll twist the questions just like in the tests. This means that you have to stay focused if you truly want to answer the questions or even form the questions. You can even do it with a friend/study buddies!
Tennis method
This method is really useful and i kinda made it up. You hold your hands up in the air facing towards each other. Now, after you completed a topic, you "throw" your first point from one hand to another and the other hand should "throw" back the second point and so on until you're completely done with it. If you can't "throw" a point back in less than a minute, you need to revise more. Personally, I love doing this because I'm focused on answering and it's actually kinda fun "throwing" points like balls, even though it may look crazy to any outsiders xD (You can use this for maths for formulae, vocabs etc!)
Hope this helps! :D
It's awfully lazy of me to not do a daily update for 5 days straight but honestly I got sick from Thursday and not to mention it was damn hard to complete assignments when you have a fever and cold. It's like something is against me being productive everyday T-T
I thought maybe i could productively use the 4 days after the school event to study something but no, of course I had to get a fever :")
In the past 5 days I:
Assignments completed:
Computers
Business studies
Accountancy
Assignments Pending:
Economics
Studied 2 topics in economics today
and that's the only thing I could do in these days... But it's fine, I'll catch up eventually. Everything will be fine or so I keep telling myself that. T-T
Days are going by sooner T-T
Anyway, today i couldn't study a lot but I did complete some of my assignments...
Today i:
Completed Arabic assignment and submitted it (due date was Monday)
Completed 50% of both accounts and business studies assignment
Studied Economics lesson 3 & 5 (Part 1) and lesson 5 (Part 3)
I don't expect to get anything done tomorrow since we have a school event and I'll probably come back 7 in the evening so... yeah.
Assignments to complete:
Accounts (Submission: Tuesday)
Business Studies (Submission: Monday)
Computer: (Submission: Friday)
Economics: (Submission: Monday)
Honestly I don't know when I'll get to study because of these useless assignments plus we have some MCQ test coming up in a week I guess... who keeps MCQ tests near Term finals after a major school event?! I swear I'm surviving here with idiots T-T
I don't know how people have such cute and aesthetic notes while mine look like they've been written by someone from another planet in another language
Damn, I'm surprised how fast time is flying by... Honestly, today was alright. Managed to do a lot.
Today I:
Completed Economics (lesson 2 (Part 1-3) and lesson 5 (Part 1-2))
Completed business studies assignment
Submitted Computer project
Did some accounts sums
Completed English assignment
Tomorrow's to do list:
Complete Arabic assignment
Complete Economics (lesson 5 (Part 3) and 3 (Part 1-3))
Learn a few accounts theories
Assignment to complete:
Arabic
Computer
I also got my test results today, I'm pretty satisfied with most of them cause i managed to get above 80 in everything... So... Yeah.
So, I missed yesterday because honestly i didn't have that much time to even write a study post because of the computer project but now it's done and I'm so damn relieved like gosh this was a nightmare!
Anyway, I cleaned my desk (made a cardboard shelf to arrange my books) and prepared a study plan for my term exam this month end. (Honestly I'm nervous.)
Today I:
Completed my computer project
Cleaned my desk
Prepared study plan
Tomorrow's to do list:
Solve some accounts sums
Study economics (Lesson 1-3, Part 1-3)
Today's exam was honestly pretty alright, i couldn't believe that i could attend everything especially because the teacher told us that she'd give no options for MCQ questions and we have to study like fully throughout the book T-T
Now, I'm more scared about tomorrow... even though I've been practicing for more than 2 weeks for accountancy, today, as soon as I came. I slept and I just woke up around 9:30 and panicked because I haven't revised anything. Right now I've completed 1 and a half lessons and I got to complete 2 major topics tomorrow morning.
So yeah... and my hopes and dreams on resting on Sunday alittle and studying just went down the drain. I got to complete a computer project which is like 10% of my final exam grades and submit it by Monday T-T
Today I:
Studied accounts
Tomorrow's To-do list:
Revise accounts in the morning
Complete 5/10 pratical projects in computers
Clean my desk (cause it's just too much of a message right now)
Suprisingly, my exam today went alright despite the fact that i hadn't studied much 0-0
Okay so computer's going alright, I've completed 2 lessons out of 4 and if i complete like Part 1-3 in the other two lessons, I'll be done for the exam. Since the majority of this year's syllabus was already covered in junior year, I'm kinda really confident with the topics :D
Today I:
Completed 2 lessons out of 4
Tomorrow's To-do list:
Revise Computers
Study for accounts mid-term (2 lessons)
I'm honestly crying, you know? Just 2 more exams for these exams to end for the month and then we have exams in another 15-20 days... no idea how I'll manage especially since there is a school event coming up + there is such a huge portion to cover. I'm kinda panicking right now T-T
Okay, today's exam wasn't bad but i could have done so much better T-T
Have i studied everything in economics? Nope, am I gonna study the whole night? Definitely not. I covered about 40% of both the chapters so let's see :")
Today I:
Studied for Economics
Tomorrow's to do list:
Study for computers (lesson 5-8)
I really feel like I'm not studying well but i will up my game from Sunday (after my mid terms). I have my term exams coming in September mid/end and a school event coming in the the beginning and i definitely know that I won't have time to prepare well. So we start early and we are touching Economics first because it's definitely my weakest subject right now + business studies.
Did I do my mid term well? Of course not, because the paper was given 25 mins late and they didn't give us extra time either. I finished the paper but I'm pretty sure my Arabic essay made absolutely zero sense T-T
Right now we're doing HRM [Human Resource Management] unit and i absolutely love this cause why the heck not? XD
Today I:
Completed around 2 and a half lessons in Business Studies (we have 4 lessons for mid term tomorrow, no idea how I'll manage)
Tomorrow's to do list:
Study for Economics mid term (2 lessons)
Today wasn't bad, could have done better but I'm honestly really proud that i almost completed my to do list T-T
Today I:
Completed 6 lessons in Arabic
Completed 2 lesson (Part 1-3) in Business Studies
Tomorrow's to do list:
Wake up early and revise Arabic + learn 1 more lesson.
Study Business Studies 4 chapters for midterm
