mid-story line tag

(10 lines from the middle of 10 fics & tagging 10 people) this looked like fun and got tagged by @astracoreiisblog. i don't have 10 works and at least half of them on ao3 are the translated versions of some of them, but still.

Like a bludger to the heart

—Shouldn't you be up in the tower celebrating with everyone else? —She asked, hiding her surprise at seeing him there in front of her. —What a curious thing, McKinnon —Sirius took a step closer—, I was about to ask you the same thing. McDonald and Evans are worried, they haven't seen you all night. —A light breeze moved the cloud that covered the moon and its faint waning light reflected off Sirius's profile, his angular features becoming more prominent as he took a drag on his cigarette. —I'm surprised you noticed. —She returned her gaze to the surface of the lake, determined to ignore her interlocutor. Sirius said nothing, but he didn't move either. —Have you nothing better to do? Surely you didn't sneak away from the castle, from your own party, to keep me company —she added after a few minutes of silence. —Would it surprise you to know that I came here for that very reason? —Marlene couldn't help turning her head sharply, but Sirius had finished his cigarette and stood with his head down, stubbing out the butt on the sole of his boot. —Do you have another cigarette? —she asked back, because it was easier to pretend it was a complete coincidence that Sirius was there.

Strangers

She still remembered how she had felt when she had finally decided to leave the party on her own, hours before Sirius. The way she had, for the first and last time, felt intimidated by the way the rest of the women had looked at him or tried to get close to him. Maybe it had more to do with her, with that feeling of having become invisible lately, as if she had completely lost her purpose in life. Perhaps it was a projection of her own insecurities to imagine that Sirius had lost interest in her. Whatever it was, as he accompanied her to the street to wait for the uber that would take her back home and he approached her, his flannel tied at the waist and his shirt untucked around his neck, from where minutes earlier Marlene had grabbed him to plant a kiss on his lips, trying to convince herself that it was her imagination that Sirius would rather she hadn't accompanied them that night, the words “I think we should break up” had been there, on the tip of her tongue, but she hadn't been brave enough to utter them. Instead, she got into the vehicle when it finally arrived and left with the agonising feeling that she had lost something that night, although she wasn't sure exactly what it was.

One to many nights stands

For a week, he left her tiptoe her way around the flat, flailing for something to do, to make it less obvious she was delaying until he offered her to stay. It was completely ludicrous to him that Marlene needed to be invited, but she always insisted on making everything unnecessarily complicated.  She always complained he often oversimplified things.  That was exactly the reason why they never managed to be a thing, a couple, an institution, and instead they were always half of something, driving everyone around them mad, themselves included.  Sometimes, though, they met somewhere in the middle.  That night, Sirius couldn’t keep acting like they repelled each other. Early in the morning they all have been caught in the fray of battle. It had caught them unexpectedly, neither were on duty, much less a mission. And yet they barely made it out unscathed. That was why they had reunited in his flat, too much on edge to depart from one another so soon.  James and Lily finally decided to leave and took Remus with them. Peter had fled to his parents house through floo.  Sirius felt Marlene’s body trembling under his hands, placed carefully on her hips, and saw the same hunger in her eyes that was pleading from his insides.

Marauders: The Untold Story

When I pitched the idea to my editor to write an article on Marauders, my sole purpose was to have a professional excuse to dig into a music scene that interested me and earn a paycheck in the process.  It was always clear to me that in the end I would end up writing a short piece, a general overview of their history. Even when I ventured to contact James Potter, the only former member of the band known to be open to continuing to engage with the media, after encountering all the news and speculation about the last few months of their tour, I was prepared to get the same statement they made in November 1981 when they made the band's abrupt dissolution official, though deep down I wished he would go off script and give me even a single quote that I could use to tell the public something new.  What I wasn't expecting was that he was not only willing to answer each and every one of my questions, but also to put me in contact with other former members, and end up discovering a completely unknown side of the band.  And that's exactly what happened.

Through the Years: A Blackinnon History

[This is only out in spanish but still.]

She didn't even need an answer to realise that he had probably been playing pranks with James Potter in the corridors, as they had been doing for the past three weeks, and now he needed somewhere to hide for a few minutes. "I'm just avoiding Filch, I wasn't trying to annoy you," Sirius replied defensively, holding up his hands to show his palms in a sign of peace. Marlene felt something in her chest loosen, her envy temporarily assuaged by the conciliatory gesture, but then she tensed again when Sirius insisted. "But seriously, what the hell are you doing here alone?" Marlene wasn't about to explain that she couldn't study in the common room, or in her own room, because she was avoiding her classmates. Or that she couldn't study in the library and risk Finnean seeing her sitting at a table by herself. Much less was she going to explain to him why that was the case. "Minding my own business instead of meddling in someone else’s," she replied irritably and pointed her wand at the largest book in her collection, the History of Magic. Sirius's eyes widened as he realised what was happening and he managed to duck out the door before the book slammed against it where his head had previously been.

I honestly doubt I can manage to tag 10 people since a lot of them have been already tagged and other authors I enjoy I haven't manage to find lol

I'll leave it open to anyone who wants to join!
