In Rob's backstory it shows him calling for help in the void, but what's always bothered me is that if you actually check the episode where he supposedly does that, NO HE DOESN'T!!
HE'S JUST STANDING THERE!!! I can't be the only one who's been annoyed by this. Like yeah, maybe Gumball and Darwin didn't notice you, cuz you didn't do anything.
Like I seriously wanna know was the villain thing an after thought? I feel like they'd plan something like that before hand but I guess not... Like it still would've been funny if he was calling out for help, playing into the forgettable gag, and then in The Nobody it's re contextualised into his edgy backstory.
Sighh I'm like Sarah in that one episode, THE CONTINUITY!!!! ☹️☹️😭😭😭😭

You know what new headcanon acquired, Rob is so good at bubble writing he just does it naturally. I'd like to imagine threatening notes to gumball or smth and it's just like, all bubble writing. I don't know how canon this book is cuz Sarah is called Dolly (her old name) and Miss Simian would NOT say that

LIKE EWW WHAT THE HELL IS THIS. WHAT IS THAT STUPID KAREN HAIRCUT. Why does it look so poorly photoshopped on, it's painful to look at. And the hands, don't get me started ON THE HANDS. WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THAT. THE FUVKIN FINGER NAILS ARE GROSS. And with those stupid shoes, mf looks like he's about to start hitting a jig. And might I add that is the saddest backpack I have ever seen. Who allowed this design, I know he's a background character but still ☹️
Oh and don't even get me started on season 1.
This thing follows me in my nightmares. You know when looking at the old concept posters for tawog you can see Rob... And he doesn't actually look that bad. Like
He actually looks kinda silly y'all, the hair still kinda sucks but it's not as bad, also doesn't have that sad sad backpack. Why couldn't this Rob be the final one, sighhhh 😔
A lot of pre void rob art makes him look super cute and I'm like aww the silly!!! I start to actually like his design and then I get jumpscared by whatever the hell canon is doing. I might be a die hard Rob fan but I can't glaze him I'm sorry.
I think he should be grateful for the void now he looks cool, I am an enjoyer of his Post-void design it is banger. Did he get permanently disfigured, have temporary amnesia, have everybody lose memory of who he used to be, be assigned a role he doesn't wanna play, deal with the knowledge that he's created purely for the amusement of an audience and has to be entertaining otherwise he'll get sent into a pocket dimension of eternal limbo? Yes. But does he have those stupid elf shoes and that ctrl+c ctrl+v haircut anymore? No. The pros outweigh the cons guys.

Rewatching Gumball is knowing that while there is no actual real overarching plot the episodes are still so amazingly interconnected.
I love how they do foreshadowing, how they build on little moments that we see through out other episodes. It's Banana joe's mom's future paintings being a small joke in "The Shell". Rob being in the deleted place with all the forgotten things in "The Void" after we see that Gumball and Darwin have a hard time remembering him and then completely forget him once Darwin kicks him into the sewers a whole season earlier in "The Pony". He then literally still has parts of the void ingrained in his design when he comes back. It's the fact that Penny and her family being hollow shells with something inside was being played as haunting jokes for episodes before the one based entirely around it. It's the fact that characters like Sarah have always been a little fourth wall breaky and so an episode like "The Fan Fiction" is so completely in line with her character that it's unremarkable in context, hell there's an episode where she sings the ending song to end the show and avoid an awkward conversation her being able to take some control of the show feels like the natural evolution of that.
The background characters in gumball have such distinct personalities that have been pretty consistent and built upon since season 2 which is completely insane and unprecedented for an episodic 2010 children's cartoon. The show might not have had an arc but it has always been continuous.
You do really get the sense that this is a world where everyone is very hyper-aware of the rules in which they operate. The show might reset at the end of the episode but the people don't

I think he was bullied by miss simian since he was a kid. He wore a party hat and walked out with the childrens when he heard she retired. Or the first spoiler in season 7, he started getting punched by her No wonder why he hates her. 😭
He looks so gentle, fluffy and silly🥹 I wouldn't be surprised why he gets bullied so often.
I was always befuddled by Rob's mysterious major in Canadian history considering he's 13 years old and also a drop out. What mysterious course of events must've led up to his stupid major. Was it just... A one off gag you're not supposed to think about??? That's absurd.
Well as I was doing my daily "standing near a window and acting like I'm really deep in thought" the answer came to me. It wasn't a real major. It was a fake one from a random ass website online.
