Our Own Choices

Chapter 4

Separatist attack! After the destruction of the outpost on the Rishi moon, General Grievous and Asajj Ventress plan an attack on the planet Kamino, home of the cloning factories. Meanwhile, aboard a Jedi cruiser, Jedi knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi examine an intercepted message from General Grievous.

Rex comes into the barracks soon enough, and I'm showing Fives and Echo this new song on the holonet called "Toxic" from Boywithuke when Rex walks in. My helmet's sitting at the side, I trust Fives and Echo enough to not reveal my secret to the Kaminoans.

When Rex walks in, Fives and Echo stand at attention and I'm just leaning against the wall behind them.

"I'm guessing you have something to tell us?" I ask Rex.

"Mhm. Separatists are planning an attack on Kamino. We're going home."

And then Rex walks out of the room.

"Kamino?! This just got personal," Fives says, Echo agrees with him.

"I'm guessing I'm gonna be the only one out of you three looking at the bigger picture and not just personally," I roll my eyes. "As much as I hate that place, if it's destroyed, the production of more clones will be stopped, and we will definitely lose the war and all of us will die."

"Hey, you're not the only one looking at the bigger picture," Fives nudges me in the side.

Soon enough, we head out of the jedi cruiser with the other troopers, as usual I'm walking behind the rest, my helmet on.

So we take a stroll through Kamino, a place that I never wanted to go back to.

"Ah, look around Fives. Feels like yesterday we were here," Echo says as a group of younger clones pass us. "Heading to target practice."

"Heh, remember that?"

"Do I ever."

"Feels like yesterday I was here, heading to cleaning duty," I mutter under my breath.

And then in front of us I see 99, struggling with carrying a few guns, dropping a few on the floor. I run over and help him pick some up, he doesn't recognize me with the helmet on.

"Hey, 99!" Echo calls out.

Well, 99 can recognize them, but not me.

"Heh, you actually remembered us," Fives sounds slightly impressed.

"Oh, I remember all my brothers. Is Hevy here? Where's he?"

I don't even think he remembers me.

"Hevy's dead. Sacrificed himself on the Rishi outpost," I explain for Echo and Fives. I can talk about his death so casually now, I get over these kinds of things quite quickly.

"He saved our lives, but he gave up his own," Echo continues.

"Oh, uh, I see," 99 says, showing Echo and Fives some random medal thing that they probably got in the past.

"Hevy...gave you his medal?" Fives asks.

99 closes his eyes for a moment, before asking,"So, why have you returned to Kamino?"

"Wasn't my choice," I tell him. My helmet's still on, I can't take it off with all the Kaminoans and other troopers here.

"The Generals received word of an impending attack here," Fives explains.

"Well, how can I help?"

Fives and Echo give each other a look before nodding at each other, and they tell 99 the plan.

"So uh, 99, do you remember...me?" I ask.

"Not with your helmet on," 99 replies. "Why not you take it off? We're safe for now."

"Not safe for me. I have no interest in going back to cleaning duty."

"It's you...you're that female clone, aren't you? So...you're a soldier now?"

I nod. "Keep your voice down, we don't want others to hear that."

"Oh right, sorry," 99 whispers. "So are you gonna join those...yknow...group of different clones?"

"You mean the ipad kid, the one with dog shit for hair, the buff af one, and the old man?"

Fives and Echo hold in their laughter, but I can see it on their faces.

99 chuckles, "Yea, you ever thought about maybe joining them?"

I think for a moment, and as I'm about to reply, the lighting turns red, signaling an attack. I see other troopers running to the front, and Fives and Echo are called in by the commander, and I follow them.

We reach the dude that sent for Fives and Echo.

"Sir, you sent for us?"

"It's a dangerous assignment, but I want you two up on the bridge in sniper positions."

"Yes sir, we're on it."

And then as Fives and Echo head up to the bridge, the dude stops me before I can run off with them.

"Aren't you a bit young to be fighting?" he asks. "Get in there with the others."

"With all due respect sir, I can handle myself," I say. "Besides, someone's gotta cover Fives and Echo." Without waiting for a response, I run off to the bridge.

I can hear the blaster fire already starting, I don't look back, I just keep running.

I reach Fives and Echo, where they're dealing with some of the droids already. I narrowly miss a blaster bolt to the face, and take cover next to them.

"There's gotta be a better defensive position than this, this place is shitty to snipe from," I say as I start shooting at the droids down below.

I see 99 coming up behind us. "I...I brought you some ammo," he says, dropping the bag on his shoulder.

"Is there a better spot than this, a better defensive position we can take?" Fives asks.

"Droids! Behind us!" Echo shouts, and Fives pushes 99 to the ground to let him take cover.

I notice that there are grenades in the bag that 99 was carrying, which is now lying on the ground, so I take one of them from the bag and throw it at the droids.

The grenade explodes on contact, knocking all the droids down.

"There's more," 99 says, pointing at where the smoke is clearing.

Echo, Fives and I point our blasters at that area, until I see some kids walking out. They look like 12 year olds, 2 years younger than me.

"Cadets, what're you doing here?" Echo asks.

"We got separated from our group," one of the kids says.

"Where were they taking you?"

"The barracks."

"Oh, I know the best way there," 99 says, and we all follow him as he half-runs to the barracks.

We reach the barracks and the kids sit down on the beds.

"What are we gonna do?" one of them asks.

Fives and Echo look down at the floor.

"A separatist victory means...death...for all of us," 99 says.

"Oh hell nah I have no interest in dying today," I lean against a wall.

"The cadet is right. What are we gonna do?" 99 asks.

"We fight."

I look to the side, and see commander Cody and Rex taking off their helmets.

"Ayyy Rex, what took you so long?" I ask when I see him. Rex rolls his eyes.

The cadets stand up. "But our training's not finished."

Fives steps forward. "Look around. We're one and the same. Same heart, same blood. Your training is in your blood. And my blood's boiling for a fight."

"That's one of the most useful things you've said today," I nudge Fives in the side.

"This is our home. This is our war," Echo says.

"What about weapons?" one of the cadets asks.

"The armory," 99 suggests. "It's just a few corridors away, here in the barracks. I can retrieve all the firepower we need. So who wants to blast some droids?"

Rex, Cody, Fives, Echo and I give a downwards nod of respect to 99 and Rex, Cody and I head to the armory with 99.

"Here it is, everything we need is here," 99 says, he's panting a bit.

Rex and Cody get some weapons and I get a few pistols, a few grenades, and just stuff them on my belt, running out of the room and passing a few to the cadets.

"What about you?" one of them asks as I hand them my second last pistol.

"I only need 1 pistol."

I hear one of the droids shooting at the door to the barracks, and as the door opens, we start shooting at them through the door. As the droids advance, we back up, finding whatever cover we can get behind boxes or the beds.

I hear some blaster bolts whizz past my shoulder, and I take cover with Fives and Echo, shooting at the droids. As they advance, we continue backing up, taking some more cover behind the boxes. Rex throws a grenade at the droids, which misses, and I can feel the force of the explosion from here.

"Cadets, now!" Rex shouts into the comlink and the cadets start shooting at the droids from the high ground where they were initially hidden from view. They manage to knock down quite a few droids, making it much easier.

Cody throws another grenade at the droids, and as the smoke clears, more droids start coming in.

I hear 99 get shot, and he's tryna make his way to the armory. I run towards the droids, strafing so that I avoid blaster fire, and I try to slice up the droids as fast as I can with my sword, and when Fives and Echo help me shoot down the last one, I look back and I see 99's body on the floor. It feels like someone tightened their grip on my stomach, and I run to 99, kneeling beside him as Echo holds him in his arms.

"We..." Cody sighs. "Lost a true soldier."

"He really was one of us."

I bite my lip under my helmet, I can feel the tears coming but I don't let them flow, so I just walk away and sit on one of the beds, looking away, softly singing under my helmet to distract myself from 99's body. ("Toxic" from Boywithuke my new fav song lmao)

Later, all of us start walking out to the outdoor platform, the battle has ended. I'm leaning against a wall, watching Echo and Fives do their thing. I still have the grenades clipped to my belt, I'm throwing my knife up in the air and catching it, just like I always do.

I see Rex motioning for me to come over with Echo and Fives, and we all stand at attention (I'm just following what Echo and Fives are doing, just because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do)

"You all really stepped up in the heat of battle," Cody says.

"We did what we had to do, sir," Echo says.

"What any clone would've done," Fives continues.

"All of you showed valor out there. Real courage. Reminds me of me, actually," Rex says.

"Don't flatter yourself, we all already know," I smirk under my helmet, Rex chuckles a bit, looking at me.

"Echo, Fives, Aris, you're officially being made ARC troopers," Cody says. Echo looks at Fives, and we're all kind of a bit in shock.

"I don't think the Separatists will be coming back anytime soon," Rex says. "But if they do, Kamino will be lucky to have clones like you defending it. Good job, men."

Rex and Cody salute and Fives and Echo does the same, so I just follow them.

As I walk away with Rex, he pats me on the back. "Good job ad'ika."

"Rex, I don't wanna be an ARC trooper," I say quietly.

"Why not?" Rex looks confused.

"Too many expectations. I'm not like Fives or Echo. I'm just a kid. And besides, I don't deserve this, 99 does."

"Kid, 99's-"

"Dead, yea I know, and I've accepted that, just don't make me an ARC trooper, okay?"

Rex sighs. "Okay, ad'ika."

I nod at him. "Thanks dad."

Rex chuckles a bit.

"Okay fine, you can call me that."

Our Own Choices

Chapter 3

After Rex said that he would let me go on some less dangerous missions with him, I've been training harder than ever. I'm still better at melee than shooting pistols or blasters and Rex has taught me how to disarm explosives and use some of those droid poppers on droidekas.

I haven't joined him on any battles yet, but when he told me that I could help him hunt down General Grievous on Saleucami a few days ago, how could I say no to that?

I've gotten a set of clone trooper armour for myself, I've made a few modifications to them considering I'm still quite short, about 163cm for now. Rex even gave me the permission to paint my armour black to blend in with the night sky if I ever needed to, and I added some orange highlights. I've got some grenades clipped to my belt, and a knife compartment up my sleeve. My helmet has a voice modulator so that the others don't recognize that I'm a girl by my slightly higher pitched voice.

I fly a ship to Saleucami and I see a bunch of jedi cruisers making their way down to the planet's surface, and I follow them. When we land, I see a bunch of speeders heading down from the cruiser and Rex and General Kenobi walking out. I run towards them.

"Who's this?" General Kenobi asks.

I awkwardly stand behind Rex, not sure what to say.

"His name's Aris. He's on the younger side, but he's a good soldier. He's just a little shy," Rex says. I look up at him. "I'm not shy."

I can see General Kenobi's eyes widen slightly when he hears my name, but it's not that obvious to Rex or any of the others.

The general turns to Rex and says that we're gonna go towards the wreckage of the landing transport first.

"Go get a speeder," Rex nudges me in the side and we both go to get a speeder each before we head off with some walkers.

The greenery of Saleucami feels so different than the barracks and machinery that I'm used to, it makes me feel a lot more calm. I mostly move behind the walkers and other speeders, so that they hopefully won't pay much attention to me.

We reach Grievous's ship in a while, and some of the other troopers are checking out the wreckage, while I'm staying close to Rex and Jesse.

We go report in to General Kenobi.

"The crew compartment's almost entirely destroyed," Rex reports.

"We'll split into teams. Rex, take Jesse, Hardcase and Kix and search those wetlands," General Kenobi says.

"Yes sir," Rex says, before motioning me to follow him and Jesse as we walk away.

"And, Rex, if you get a visual on Grievous, contact us before you engage."

Rex nods before putting his helmet back on and we get on our speeders and drive off into the wetlands.

I never get to see so much green on Coruscant, this would be a nice place to train. Maybe I should suggest that to Rex.

Rex and the others are driving so fast, I try to keep up but I'm still lagging behind, I don't wanna drive too fast because I have no intention of dying today.

And then I see Rex get shot down in front of me, he flies off his speeder. I freeze, my breath hitches, and I hear gunshots not too far away.

I stop my speeder and jump off, running towards Rex's lifeless body, kneeling down beside him.

"Rex?" I shake him by the shoulders gently. "REX?" I shake him harder. He still doesn't move. My voice cracks. "I swear if you are dead...I'm gonna kill you. Rex? Rex, wake up, please..."

Dad...

My vision starts to blur inside my helmet, I know tears are starting to form but I cant clear them right now because I can't take off my helmet, so I just try to blink them out of my eyes.

I barely notice Kix coming over to check on Rex, they take off his helmet and then tell Jesse to come over here, I'm still shaking Rex by the shoulders, trying to get him to wake up.

Jesse and Hardcase come over.

"How bad?"  Jesse asks.

"Pretty bad. I need to remove his armor to see the full extent of the damage," Kix replies.

I check Rex's pulse, it's weak, but it's there.

"Those snipers might have called for backup," Hardcase says. "Unless we wanna start getting picked off one by one, we should find better cover first."

Some animals start walking over to us, they kinda look like the walkers, and they're noses are probably longer than most of the clones' dicks. How do I know? Rex may or may not have told me the sizes of all the clones' dicks.

"Wait a minute. Those critters are domesticated," Jesse says.

"Sir?"

"I think we're on farmland. And where there's a farm, there's usually a farmer," Jesse says.

I roll my eyes from under my helmet. "No shit smartass."

Jesse ignores me. "Let's find his homestead."

Jesse and Kix sling Rex onto their shoulders and puts him on a stretcher which Kix attaches to his speeder and I just follow them from behind.

It's sunset now. The sun casts an orange glow over the land as we reach a small house. Kix arrives up next to the door and this female Twi'Lek holds up a rifle and points it at him.

"We want no trouble here," she says.

"Easy with that weapon, ma'am," Jesse says as he takes off his helmet. "We're here as friends."

"State your business," the Twi'Lek says pointing the rifle at him.

I arrive back up behind Jesse, remaining silent.

"Our friend's been hurt. We need-" Kix gets cut off by her. "I'm no doctor. So just-"

"We have a medic ma'am. We just need a place to tend to him overnight," Jesse says.

2 kids run out behind the Twi'Lek. My eyes light up. I haven't seen kids for a long time. Not since Kamino.

"Get inside, both of you," the Twi'Lek says and the kids reluctantly head into the house. "Look, there are some benches out back in the barn. It's the best I can do."

"That'll be fine ma'am. Thank you."

So we head to the barn and set Rex down on one of the benches, I lean against the wall at the far end of the barn, spinning my knife and keeping myself distracted while the others take care of Rex.

I hear Rex waking up and I run over, pushing my way past Jesse. He's shirtless, and has a medpatch on his chest.

"What? What happened?" Rex asks as he opens his eyes.

"Commando droids took a potshot that would've gone straight through your heart had it been two inches to the left," Hardcase says.

"I can't move my arm," Rex says.

"You have some nerve damage," Kix tells him.

"Understood. Now patch me up and let's get on with it," Rex turns to the side.

"Sir, you're in no condition. It will heal, but it'll take time."

"We're getting under way, Kix. That's an order."

"Sir, as the team medic, when it comes to the health of the men, including you...I outrank everyone. So I respectfully order you, sir, to get some-"

I hear someone clearing their throat. "Excuse me." I turn around, it's that Twi'Lek again, she's carrying a plate of fruit. "If that's not enough-"

"That's plenty. Thank you, uh..."

"Suu."

Some droid ball-like thingy comes into the room and one of those kids I saw just now runs in, picking it up.

"I told you to stay in the house," Suu says.

"I couldn't help it, mom. It got away."

Then the kid looks at Rex and stares at him. "You look like my daddy."

"Shaeeah. Don't both the soldier. Now get inside with your brother."

"Yes, mom."

"My husband is away, delivering our first harvest," Suu says as she passes the plate of fruit to Jesse. "Do you require anything else?"

"No. Thank you, Suu."

Kix takes a pistol and puts it beside Rex's good hand.

"Resume the search without me," Rex says. "Jesse, you're in command." Jesse nods. "I'll be fine." He sighs.

"I'm staying with the captain," I speak up.

"Kid, you're going with them. That's an order," Rex says.

"I'm staying with you here, captain, whether you like it or not."

Rex sighs. "Fine."

As Jesse, Kix and Hardcase leave the room, I finally take off my helmet and set on the floor beside him. I throw my arms around his neck and hug him tightly. Rex chuckles a bit and hugs me back with his good arm.

"I was so worried," my voice cracks.

"I'm alright kid, I won't die from a simple shot like that."

I let go of him and sit down on the floor beside him, playing with my knife again.

"You want some water?" I ask, looking up at him.

"Nah ad'ika, I'm fine."

"I'll get some anyways." I put my helmet back on, standing up and heading out of the room.

I head to the house where Suu came out of just now, and I knock on the door. Suu opens it, and lets me in.

The place is well-lit, and it seems quite cozy. Better than the barracks, at least.

"I need some water," I tell Suu, and she goes to get some, returning in a short while. I see the kids looking at me from a corner, and I awkwardly wave at them.

"You're a little short to be one of them," Suu says as she hands me the water. "And you don't take off your helmet like the others."

"That's none of your business. Thanks for the water." I walk out of the house and back into the barn where I give some water to Rex.

"Thanks ad'ika ," he says as he drinks it.

I take my helmet off and set it down on the floor, sitting next to it.

"Yknow you can trust some of them to not reveal your secret. They're good men," Rex says.

"I don't trust any of them."

"Well, you should. It's good to make some friends."

"I don't need friends.  I already have you, Fives, Echo and Hevy-"

"Kid."

I look down, sighing. "Hevy's gone, I know."

Rex pats my head with his good arm and messes my hair up a bit. I smile slightly and lean against the wall.

"Don't move too much. We don't want the injury to get worse."

I forgot there was animals in the barn, so in the middle of the night, some random animals go drool on both me and Rex, and on my armour.

When I feel the liquid dripping on me, I instantly wake up and wipe it away. Some of it dripped on my helmet.

"Hey! I just got the new paint job!" I push the animal away.

And then I hear the faint sound of metal and footsteps. Rex's hand reaches for his pistol, and I draw my knife and sword and inch along the walls to where the sound is coming from.

I see the person making his way closer towards Rex in the room, he doesn't see me because of the colour of my armour.

I see Rex try to shoot him but his pistol gets knocked out of his hand and the person points his weapon at him.

I quietly run behind the person, and grab his shoulder, pulling him backwards and putting my knife over his throat. "I wouldn't try anything if I were you."

I see the person's eyes widen. "Who are you?" he asks. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm the one asking the questions, not you." I press the knife to his throat. "Drop your weapon."

"Let go of him. He's a clone," Rex orders, and I kick his weapon to the side, slowly drawing my knife away from him and putting it back in my wrist compartment, and slinging my sword onto my back.

"So...I see the war has finally made its way out here, and I guess I can expect a visit from some droids soon," the clone says.

"What's your number and rank?" Rex asks, sitting up.

"Heh. My name is Lawquane. Cut Lawquane, and I'm just a simple farmer."

"You're a deserter."

Cut chuckles. "Well, I like to think I'm merely exercising my freedom to choose, to choose not to kill for a living."

"That is not your choice to make," Rex says, as the lights in the barn turn on. "You swore an oath to the Republic. You have a duty."

"I have a duty, you're right. But it's to my family. Does that count or do you still plan to turn me in?"

"Do I have a choice?"

"Yea you do, he seems like a nice guy," I speak up again.

Cut looks at me. "Well thanks, kid. And I suppose you won't try to kill me again, will you?"

I look at him. "Only if you give me a reason to."

"Daddy! You're home!" the kids come running over and hug Cut. I instantly reach for my helmet, but Rex puts a hand on my shoulder.

"Fine," I groan, before sitting down on the floor next to him.

"Look what I drew you, Dad!" the other kid holds up a drawing. Cut chuckles and pats the kid on the head. "That's great Jekk."

"I see you two have met," Suu says.

"He looks just like you, daddy. I told him," one of kids says.

"Ah, you did, huh? I was just making our guest, Captain, um...what's your number?"

"Rex. I also have a name, believe it or not."

"He was injured. His men brought him here," Suu says. "I told him he could stay, just for the night."

"Of course he can. We never turn away those in need, do we?"

"No, we always help anyone we can," one of the kids sasys.

"You look hungry, Rex," Cut says.

"No, I'm fine, I'll stay here," Rex replies quickly.

"No, you have to eat with us, pleaseeee?"

"Please????"

Cut chuckles. "They're never gonna stop until you say yes."

"Alright, I'll join you."

Cut helps Rex stand up and as I watch them as they walk out of the barn, still sitting on the floor.

Cut turns back and looks at me. "You coming?"

I nod and put on my helmet. "Yea sure."

I keep quiet at the table as I eat. I don't take my helmet off, I just eat from under my helmet, Rex nudges me in the side to tell me that I can take my helmet off, but I shake my head.

"Yes, well you and I may be clones, but we're still individuals. You have a name rather than a number, Captain. Why is that?" Cut asks.

"Perhaps our leaders feel it's a more efficient way or distinguishing us," Rex replies.

"More efficient than a number? Hmm. I doubt the Kaminoans think that way. Still, a name has to make you feel unique, especially in an army where everyone looks like you and talks like you."

"Not everyone," I speak up.

"Actually, I've never really thought about it," Rex says.

"Yes, you have."

"Well, how would you know?"

"Because I'm as close to you as any life-form can be." Cut passes Rex his food and leans in. "I've seen how you look at my family, our home. Come on, Rex, admit it. You've thought about what your life could look like if you were to also leave the army, choose the life you want."

Rex looks at me. "What if I am choosing the life I want? What if I'm staying in the army because it's meaningful to me?"

"And how is it meaningful?"

"Because I'm part of the most pivotal moment in the history of the Republic. If we fail, then our children and their children could be forced to live under an evil I can't well imagine."

"If you were to have children, of course, but that would be against the rules, wouldn't it? Isn't that what somebody programmed you to believe, Captain?"

"No, Cut. It's simply what I believe. It doesn't matter if it's my children or other people's children. Does that meet with your approval?"

"Perfectly. To each his own. That's what I always say."

"What does that mean, daddy?" one of the kids asks.

"It means you can do anything with your life that you want to."

"Why don't you take your helmet off?" Suu asks.

"I'd...prefer not to," I reply.

"Aw cmon, please? We wanna see your face," the kids say, and they starts begging me to take off my helmet. I look at Rex, and then Cut, and then they both nod at me, and I hesitantly take off my helmet.

"You're a girl version of Daddy?" one of the kids asks.

I chuckle. "I guess you could say that."

"Why are you out in the field so early? Don't you have training to do back on Kamino?" Cut asks.

"I ran away from Kamino when the war started, got caught in a skirmish, Rex found me and took me in."

"And I'm guessing you had no choice?"

"No. I chose this life. I want to fight for the Republic. No matter how much of a mistake I am to the Kaminoans, I'm still a soldier, and I wanna do my duty."

"Isn't that what you were programmed to think?"

I fall silent.

"How old are you?" Suu asks.

"14," I reply.

"You're fighting in a war when you're so young?" one of the kids asks.

"I wouldn't consider it young but-"

"Yea, she is, I trained her myself," Rex says, and I can hear a hint of proudness in his voice.

"Do you have a name?" Cut asks.

"Yea. It's Aris."

"That's a cool name," one of the kids says.

I nod at them.

After dinner, Cut and Rex go play some Dejarik and Cut tells Rex his story, and Cut lets the kids go outside and play for a few minutes, and he tells me to keep an eye on them. I nod and follow them outside.

They're playing hide-and-seek in the fields, and I put my helmet on, following them. I see the older kid called Shaeeah scare the living hell out of Jekk, and I smile to myself under my helmet.

I wish my childhood was like this.

"Look. In the field," Jekk says.

I look out in the field and see a metal structure that looks like it crashed into the field.

"Stay back kids, I'll go check it out," I say, before running inside the structure.

Clearly they have a hearing problem, because they follow me inside.

I walk through a dark hallway, pistol and sword drawn, and find myself in a dark room full of lifeless commando droids. I get ready to shoot them before they can do anything, and then they suddenly power up. I look behind and I see Shaeeah who accidentally pressed the button to power them up.

"Run!" I shout to the kids. "Go tell dad!"

I shoot as many of the droids as I can before they start moving, and I run out of the structure, hiding in the field, hoping that they won't hear or see me. I hold my breath. I can hear my heartbeat in my ears, it's so loud.

I make my way through the fields and back to the house. I see 3 commando droids circling around it.

I take a deep breath and steel myself before drawing my knife and stabbing one in the head, drawing my pistol and shooting the other, and Cut shoots the last one with his rifle.

I nod at him. "Thanks."

I hide with him behind the wall, it's all quiet, but I can hear footsteps around the house, my breathing quickens, the inside of my helmet is warm.

Suddenly, a commando droid holds Cut by the neck, and I shoot it in the head with my pistol, almost hitting Cut.

Another commando droid comes from the door and Cut shoots it before I can. I don't like this.

"Why isn't Rex here?" I whisper to Cut.

"He's backup in case we die," he replies.

"So you think we're gonna die?!??!?"

"That is a possibility."

"Okay, point taken," I gulp as I hear a creaking sound coming from the floorboards.

I cautiously walk over and open the trapdoor, and then a bunch more commando droids come out. I stab one in the head before backing up and shooting at them. They're also shooting at me and Cut, and a blaster bolt grazes my hand, it cuts through my glove and I can feel the burning on my hand.

I take cover behind a wall, and shoot the droids from there. I see Cut get trapped under some debris that fell from the ceiling, and I draw my sword, slicing through 2 of the commando droids and shooting another in the head, and then suddenly I feel a strong grip around my neck, I look back and see another commando droid, the grip is getting tighter and I can't breathe...

Cut forces the debris that he's stuck under off of him, hitting the droid that's strangling me, and it falls to the ground, the lights from it's eyes turning off. I'm breathing heavily, my throat feels like it's pressed in, I cough a bit as Cut takes out the rest of the droids.

I hear blaster fire from upstairs, Rex must be taking care of the last ones. I see Cut wrestling with one of the commando droids and I go over to help him, stabbing it in the head.

And then Rex falls from the ceiling and the last commando droid grips his neck, trying to strangle him like its counterpart tried to strangle me, and Cut shoots it in the head, causing it to let Rex go. Rex staggers back, coughing a bit.

I hear the kids calling out for Cut, and he reassures them, telling them that it's over.

Rex puts a hand on my shoulder. "Good job, kid."

"Thanks Rex," my voice is hoarse and I cough a bit, receiving a bit of a concerned look from Rex. "I'm-" I cough a bit. "I'm fine."

"You sure?"

I cough again. "Y-yea."

The kids and Suu come down the stairs and hug Cut, and Rex and I lean against the wall. I sigh. "Rex, have you actually thought about leaving the army before? Yknow, you could have a family, be away from all the war for once."

Rex looks at me, and I take off my helmet.

"I already have a family. I wouldn't have it any other way."

And then he pulls me into a hug and I hug him back tightly.

In the morning, Rex and I have to leave, we put our stuff onto one of these animals and then we get ready to leave.

"Captain Rex, are you going to turn in my husband?" Suu asks.

"I'm sorry Suu. It's my duty." I glare at Rex. "But in my condition, I probably won't remember any of this."

Suu looks happy.

"You're still a deserter, Cut, but you're certainly not a coward."

The kids come and hug my waist. "Promise you'll come back sometime?" they ask, and I nod, smiling at them before putting my helmet back on.

Rex receives a transmission from General Kenobi.

"Captain Rex, are you still with us?"

"Yes, General Kenobi. I'm still with you and thankfully on the mend sir."

"That's great news. We certainly missed you at the party."

"Does that mean I missed out on some action?" I speak into the comlink.

"Quite a lot of it, actually."

"Sorry sir, I...had to attend one of my own."

"Can't wait to hear about it. We're standing by."

"You're welcome to stay, Rex," Cut says.

"This is your home, Cut. My family is elsewhere." Rex looks at me, before we get on the animal thing and wave to Cut and his family, before riding off into the sunset.

We meet up with General Kenobi, and then we get back onto the Jedi cruiser, and before I head to my barracks, Rex stops me.

"You did good, ad'ika," he says.

"Thanks, captain," I smirk under my helmet.

"Yknow I could get used to you calling me that, right?" Rex laughs a bit.

I chuckle.

"I know you'll never get used to it."

Our Own Choices

Chapter 2

Clone forces rally. As the war escalates in the Outer Rim, the Jedi Knights are spread thinly across the galaxy.  Many new clones are rushed into service to support their Jedi generals. Unfortunately, because of the relentless demands of battle, many young clones must join the struggle before their intensive training has been completed. These clones, manning a vital network of tracking stations, are all that stand between the Republic and invasion.

I gotta admit, training isn't fun. Rex says it's hard at first, but I'll get used to it. Rex and some other troopers from the 501st train me, and physical training is a literal nightmare. When I wake up the next day my limbs feel like they're gonna fall off. To be honest, it would be better if they did.

I haven't seen Kix after that first time we met, and I haven't interacted with any of the other clones either.

"We want as few clones as possible to know that you were a deserter," Rex says.

"What's a deserter?" I ask him.

"Someone who left the army without permission. People like you."

"But I'm back now, right?"

"Still, we should be cautious."

Most of the time Rex isn't around for my training, he's planning battle strategies with the Jedi Generals and out in the field.

There's one time Rex comes back from the Battle of Christophsis and he tells me General Skywalker has a new padawan.

"She really thought since she was a commander she outranked me." Rex and I sit on a bench at the side while I'm taking a break from my training.

"I'm guessing she doesn't, because-"

"In my book, experience outranks everything."

"In your book, experience outranks everything."

Rex and I say it at the same time. Rex chuckles and pats my head. "I see you've at least learned something from me."

"How could I forget that one line you say at least once a week?"

"You got a point kid."

"If experience outranks everything, then why won't you let me get out in the field to get experience?" I ask, probably for the 4th time that week.

Rex's expression hardens. "We had this conversation before, kid. It's too dangerous out there for you for now, you gotta focus on your training first, and when I say you're ready to get out there, you can join me and the boys in the 501st. Got it?"

I roll my eyes, sighing. "Fine."

Rex hands me a few credits. "Go get yourself some new clothes when we land on Coruscant tonight, okay? Your old ones are getting a bit tight." And then he pats me on the back and walks off.

I put the credits in my pocket and get back to training.

I'm still better using a knife than a blaster, but I'm pretty decent with a sniper as well, my long-distance aim with a pistol is shitty, but in close range I can get a good headshot in.

Rex let me keep my knife, and he even got me a larger one which looks a lot more like a sword, the orange highlights on it match the ones on my old knife.

Recently, Rex and Cody have been checking the Republic outposts for inspection, and I haven't seen Rex in weeks.

When Rex finally arrives back on Coruscant, I'm already standing at the hangar waiting for him, crossing my arms.

"What took you so long?" I ask.

"I told you that it was gonna be a few weeks," Rex sighs. "Nice hoodie you got there, by the way."

"Thanks. And what did you say about teaching me how to use those deflector pucks for trick shots before you left?"

"I said that was after you mastered shooting a pistol."

"But I already have! I can get a headshot from like 3 meters away." I protest.

"3 meters isn't far. You'll be shot down by clankers before you could even get that close."

"Aw cmon, captain, at least give me a demonstration," I smirk. I know he hates it when I call him "captain".

"No time for that. Commander Cody and I are going to the Rishi outpost in a few minutes, I was just checking in on you."

"Oh, how kind of you," I reply, before walking away.

Once I see Rex turn his gaze away from me, I run behind a box near the ship, and wait for Rex and Cody to get into their ship. As the door of the ship starts to close behind them, I slip in at the last second quietly and hide in the darkness, hoping that no one heard me.

As the ship lands on Rishi, the lights at the back of the ship, where I am, turn on. I draw a quick breath, there's nowhere to hide, and Rex and Cody are coming. So I stand up and smile awkwardly.

"Hi guys."

"Kid, what are you doing here, I told you to stay on Coruscant and train," Rex sounds annoyed.

"Who's the kid?" Cody asks.

"Hey commander, name's Aris, I'm basically like the captain's secret trainee," I say, casting a quick glance at Rex, who puts a hand to his forehead and groans.

"I never thought Rex would personally train a kid like you," Cody says. "Where'd he find you?"

"We-we can explain that later, let's just get this inspection over with first," Rex says hastily.

"Just don't get in the way, alright kid?" Rex asks, not waiting for a reply and walking out of the ship with Cody. I follow behind them.

They're busy complaining about having no deck officers on duty here at the outpost, and that the clones here are sloppy. I don't think they are. Something feels off. I can see faint lights coming from behind the boxes, and I don't really think that's normal. I quicken my pace and move closer to Rex.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Cody says as the door to the outpost opens and a clone walks out.

"Welcome to Rishi, commander. As you can see, the outpost is operating at peak efficiency. Thank you for visiting, and have a safe trip back," the clone says, with some weird-ass hand movements. Something's definitely off, and both Rex and Cody glance at each other.

"We need to inspect the base just the same," Cody says.

"Uh, there is no need," the clone says. "Everything is fine and fully operational."

I pull at Rex's arm. Rex nods back at me.

"Take us to the sergeant in command," Rex says.

"Roger roger."

Rex and Cody look at each other, and I'm slightly confused. Suddenly, I see a flare rising up behind us.

It's a droid attack flare, I was just taught that a few days ago.

"A droid attack flare," Cody and I say at the same time. Rex shoots that clone in the head, and he falls to the ground.

"Woah, Rex, what the heck are you doing?" Cody sounds alarmed.

I don't say anything as Rex goes to inspect the body.

"Relax," Rex says as he takes the helmet of the clone, revealing a lifeless commando droid under the helmet. "Looks like one of those new commando droids."

"That flare must have come from the survivors," Cody says.

Suddenly, blaster shots come from all directions and Rex and Cody start firing.

"Get behind me kid," Rex says as he dodges a blaster bolt. I don't protest, staying as close to Rex as I can. Just the sound of blaster bolts whizzing over my head is enough to make my blood run cold. It's not the same as in training. If I get shot here, I will most likely die.

Some of the commando droids are using the boxes to shoot from the high ground. Cody manages to get a few shots on one of them, but they just get back up again.

"Those clankers have tough armor," Cody exclaims.

I run as fast as I can behind a box to take cover, covering my ears and closing my eyes tightly, curling up into a ball. I can almost feel the shot on my shoulder again. My breathing quickens.  Rex and Cody go to take cover where I am.

"We're cut off," Cody says, he and Rex keep firing at the droids. His voice sounds muffled in my head.

"Get me outta here...get me outta here..." I whisper to myself, pressing my knees to my forehead.

And then I hear the sound of grenades landing near our area and Rex grabs my arm, shoots a grappling hook to the platform and lowers us down to the ground. Cody's next to us as I hear an explosion.

When my feet touch the ground, I lean against a rock to stabilize myself, my legs are shaking, my shoulders are tensed, I just stare straight ahead, breathing heavily.

"Kid, are you okay?" Rex puts a hand on my shoulder. "Are you hurt or anything?"

I look down at the ground, avoiding eye contact.

"Aris? Look at me. Are you okay?"

I look up at Rex. "I shouldn't have come."

"Yea, you shouldn't have. But you're here now, and you're still alive, so I'd count that as a win," Rex smirks.

I nod, trying to slow my breathing down, my shoulders relaxing slightly.

"This is just like training, okay? Don't worry about it."

Rex turns to Cody. "Well this sure complicates things, Commander. No worse than that time on Tibrin."

"We had jedi with us on Tibrin," Cody says as we stare at the flaming wreckage of the ship. "They helped."

"What...happened on Tibrin?" I speak up in a small voice.

"Not now kid," Cody snaps, and I go quiet again.

3 clones walk towards us through the smoke of the wreckage, and Rex and Cody raise their blasters at them. "Hands above you heads. Take your sun bonnets off."

I think he means helmets. But seriously? Sun bonnets? You couldn't come up with something better?

My hand reaches for the pistol at my belt as I stand behind Rex and Cody, wondering if I should follow them and point my gun at the clones.

"Uh, sir?" One of the clones sounds confused.

"Take them off. Now!"

The clones raise their hands in surrender, take their helmets off, and they're not droids.

Suddenly, an really big eel-like thing crashes through the rocks at our side and roars at us. I stand there frozen while Rex shoots the thing and kills it in one shot.

Rex takes off his helmet and goes to check whether the eel is dead.

"Nice shot," one of the clones says.

I back away from the eel's body but behind me is darkness and I don't wanna get ambushed by any more droids, so I just stay close.

"The name's Rex," Rex says as he checks the eel's body. "But you'll call me "Captain" or "sir"."

"Sir, yes sir!"

I really don't wanna talk to Rex when he's like this. I have a slight fear or superior authoritative figures.

"I'm commander Cody, your new boss," Cody says as he takes off his helmet.

I smile awkwardly and wave at the 3 clones. "Hi..."

They ignore me.

"My designation is trooper 27-5555, sir," one of the clones says.

"We call him Fives. I'm Hevy. This is Echo." Hevy points to the last dude.

"Where's your sergeant?" Cody asks.

"Dead, sir. We're all that's left," Echo says.

"Looks like we got a batch of shinies, commander," Rex says as he walks up to the clones.

"Shinies, sir?"

"That's right. Your armour, it's shiny and new, just like you," Rex says.

At least they have armour.

"Sir, me and my batchers are trained and ready. We'll take back our post, shiny or not."

"There's hope for you yet, rookie," Rex says.

"Hey kid. You're not supposed to be here. It's dangerous."

I look up, Hevy's talking to me.

"I know, I was following the captain along without his permission, cause I thought I could get some experience here, but..." I look down, my voice is soft.

"It's scarier than you thought it would be?" Echo asks.

I nod. "I wanna go back."

"Well, you can't get everything you want, kid. And if you're looking for some experience, you're sure gonna get a lot of it here," Hevy says. "What's your name?"

"Aris."

"Like the leader of the 504th Legion?" Fives asks.

"Rex named me after her."

"You look like a clone. Are you?" Echo asks.

"Mhm. Female clone. Wasn't meant to exist, but here I am. Made to be physically weaker than the others." I chuckle, looking down. "But I'm definitely not weaker. I'm equal to them."

"Alright boys, keep quiet and follow me," Rex says, before starting to climb up a ledge.

The others all follow, and I'm at the back.

Okay. You can do this. Just like training.

I take a deep breath and start climbing.

Don't look down, don't look down, there's no harness, just don't look down and don't fall or you're gonna become a piece of roti prata and die-

I cling onto the rock that I'm climbing on tightly, and I make the mistake of looking down. My whole body tenses up, and I draw a few quick breaths before looking back up again. I can feel the sweat running down my face. My arms are shaking. All I can hear is my heartbeat now.

After what seems like forever, we make it up to the top of the ledge, and Hevy helps me up. My breaths are shaky as I wipe the sweat off my face.

"Look sharp, rookies," Rex says. "As long as those tweezers occupy this post, our home planet of Kamino is at risk."

I look up. Kamino? 99's still there, isn't he?

"But there's so many of them," Hevy says.

"Doesn't matter, kid. We have to retake this base, so we will retake this base."

"How do you propose we get through those blast doors, Rex, old boy?" Cody asks.

"I have a few ideas."

I gently tug at Rex's arm.

"What is it, kid?" Rex asks, turning to face me.

"Can I...sit this one out, sir?"

"Look kid. We need all troopers for this. Including you."

"I don't wanna go. I don't wanna die. I'm scared."

Rex puts both hands on my shoulders. "You're not gonna die kid. You'll be fine. What happened to getting experience, hm?" He playfully punches my shoulder. "You'll be okay. I promise. Just remember your training, okay?"

I take a few deep breaths to calm my nerves. It's not working, but I don't show it, and I nod.

We reach the front blast doors of the outpost and Cody and the others hide at the sides, so I follow them, pistol in one hand and my vibrosword in the other.

Rex walks up to the front door.

"Unit 2-6, is that you?" the commando droids in the outpost ask.

"Roger roger," Rex says.

"You sound strange. Is something wrong with your vocabulator?"

"Roger roger."

"Take off your helmet. Let me see your faceplate."

"Roger roger."

Rex ducks and uses the commando droid's head from just now and shows it to the camera.

"This is never gonna work," Cody puts a hand to his helmet.

The blast doors open and Rex holds up his pistol.

"Clones!"

"Roger, Roger."

Rex takes out the droid in the middle and the others take out the remaining 2.

"Right, let's move."

The others run into the main room and take cover at the sides, shooting at the droids. I stay behind and take cover from the main hallway, not looking behind me. I can see blaster bolts whizzing past me, but they're not going to hit me.

I hear Fives getting shot and Cody telling them to focus. I look back and see Rex in the main room, where a commando droid is trying to melee him.

I draw my vibrosword and run into the main room as Rex dodges the swings of the droid, and I slice the droid in half from behind. The others take out the last 2 remaining droids and the room is clear.

"Thanks kid," Rex gives me a downwards nod of respect.

I sling my sword back onto my back and lean against a wall at the side while the others roast the droids that they just shot down.

"Get to the window. It looks like we have more visitors," Cody says.

We all run to the window and look outside.

"It looks like a separatist fleet."

"That's why the commandeered the outpost," Cody says. "They're mounting a full-scale invasion."

"We have to warn command," Rex says.

"Shouldn't we hide? If they're gonna mount a full-scale invasion we don't stand a chance," I speak up, and everyone stares at me. "What? I'm telling the truth."

One of the clones goes to try and transmit a signal.

"Those clankers sabotaged our transmitter, and they hard-wired the all-clear signal. It'll take time to-"

"We don't have time. Look."

A ship is descending in front of the outpost.

"Guys we really should go," I'm making my way towards the vent, ready to run.

"Well kid, you're gonna get a lot of experience from here," Echo says.

"We can't protect the outpost long against that army of clankers," Cody says.

"Then we'll destroy the outpost instead," Rex says.

"But sir, our mission is to defend this facility at all costs."

"We have to warn the Republic about the invasion. They'll take notice when the all-clear signal stops."

"That's right. When they stop receiving our beacon, they'll get the message something's wrong," Fives says.

"We'll need every thermal detonator in the inventory," Rex says.

I slowly open up the vent cover, ready to slip inside.

"It'll take more than a few detonators to destroy the outpost."

Then someone suggests an idea to blow up the outpost using liquid tibanna.

"Good. Bring the tanks here and prime the detonators," Rex orders.

Just as I'm about to slip into the vent and run away, Rex notices me.

"Hey kid, don't think about going anywhere."

I freeze, looking up at him.

"I have no interest in dying today," I reply.

"I thought you weren't weak?"

So I help the boys carry the explosives to the main room as I hear the battle droids marching towards the front gate.

When we manage to get it all to the main room, Rex and the others gather around, and I stand behind Fives, Echo and Hevy.

"Alright listen up. There's only one target of interest in this sector: Kamino. It's the closest thing we clones have to a home. Today we fight for more than the Republic. Today we fight for all our brothers back home. Understood?"

"Sir, yes sir!"

Rex looks at me.

I take a deep breath and steel myself for the high possibility of dying. "Sir, yes, sir."

We head into the weapons room where the others take their weapons. My hand rests on my pistol, and the other on my vibrosword. I turn to Rex, who's making his way to the main room. He nods at me.

I can feel my heart in my throat now, and it must have been pretty obvious to Cody, because he puts a hand on my shoulder and says,"We're gonna survive this kid. Trust me.

Hevy goes to the front and takes out a bunch of battle droids with that gatling gun of his, and then Cody, me and the others come in.

I shoot at the droids with my pistol and blaster bolts narrowly miss me, and everything's going so fast, I can't comprehend what's going on.

One of the clones throws a grenade at the battle droids, knocking most of them off the platform while the rest of us fall back, closing the blast doors.

They get blown up from outside and the battle droids enter, still shooting at us, and I run into the main room, with the others following behind after a few moments.

I hear Rex say that the handset wasn't linking up with the detonator, and Hevy says he'll handle it, telling us to get out of here.

We run to the vents and crawl through them, with Rex leading the way. We reach the outside in a few minutes, hiding behind a ridge.

"Hevy, hit the-" Rex looks behind, and Hevy isn't there.

"Where's Hevy?"

Echo and Fives shake their heads.

Rex talks into his comlink. "Hevy, get out of there."

"The remote isn't working," Hevy reports. "I have to detonate it manually."

I move to run back into the vents and try to make it back to the outpost, the others follow me. I'm running as fast as I can, and crawl into the vents, trying to make it back.

I hear the others trying to contact Hevy, but they're not in the vents yet. I gotta get there.

And then I hear the sound of explosions and debris falling, the vents shake, and I curl up into a ball, covering my head.

When the shaking stops, I open my eyes, and I see Rex pulling me out of the vents.

"You okay kid?" Rex asks.

I nod, staying close to him as we head back to the others.

Hevy's gone.

"We've got those tinnies on the run," either Fives or Echo says, I can't really tell.

"Thanks to Hevy."

I hear the sound of gunships descending.

"We're getting of this crater boys," Rex says.

We all get on the gunships, and I remain silent for the whole trip back to the cruiser.

Fives and Echo are getting some random award thing from General Skywalker, and Rex says he's considering adding them to the 501st. I head back to the barracks and just chill there for awhile, thinking about everything that's just happened. It all feels so fast.

About an hour later, Rex comes in.

"Hey kid, how're you doing?"

I remain silent.

Rex sits down next to me.

"Yknow if it wasn't for Hevy, we wouldn't be here right now," he says.

I nod, staring up at the ceiling. "I shouldn't have come."

"Yea, it's a lot more different than training, isn't it?"

"It's so...scary, my mind just goes blank, and I forget everything I learned during training. Being a soldier's hard."

"The first few battles are always like that, but...you'll get used to it."

"I'm not gonna be in another battle. I'll just stay on Coruscant and continue training. That's what you want, right?"

"Hm. I could let you come on some of the less dangerous battles, how about that?"

I hesitate. I can almost imagine the sickening feeling in my stomach when the outpost blew up, when I realised that Hevy was gone. I can almost feel my heart pounding in my head every time I see live fire whizzing past my head, when I narrowly miss death by an inch.

I sit up and look at Rex.

"I don't wanna go."

Rex looks at me, confused. "What?"

"I'm done with being in battles. I'm not going to fight out there in the field anymore. I'm done. I'm leaving."

Rex sighs. "Look, ad'ika-"

Fives and Echo come into the barracks.

"Hey kid, how're you doing?" Echo asks. "You were pretty good out there with your knife and your pistol."

I look up at him.

"I know what you're thinking, kid. You wanna leave after your first skirmish, and to be honest, I can't argue with that. It's a hard life, being a soldier."

I nod.

"But we're fighting for the Republic, for a cause that we believe in. Out there, we gotta be strong, we can't show weakness, and we show those clankers what we're made of, got it?"

I nod again, and Echo and Fives walk away.

Can't show weakness. They always said I was made to be weaker than the others. Gotta prove them wrong.

I turn to Rex.

"Maybe I'll take a few weeks on Coruscant to train and prepare myself, and then maybe I'll consider coming along on those less dangerous battles."

Rex smiles, and nods. "Okay then ad'ika, we've got a ship leaving for Coruscant in a few hours, and I'll see you in a few weeks."

"What does ad'ika mean?" I ask.

"You already know, kid. All clones do."

I roll my eyes. "Fine. Cya, captain."

Rex groans.

"And for the last time, DON'T CALL ME THAT!"

Our Own Choices

Our Own Choices

Chapter 1

When I first opened my eyes, everyone around me looked the same. We were all clones of Jango Fett. But for some reason, everyone avoided me. I didn't know why until I looked into the mirror for the first time.

I never looked like the others. I was a girl. The rest were all guys. I always ate alone in the cafeteria, and sometimes I talked to this clone called 99, who was defective, just like me.

I've seen these clones who don't look like the others before, but I never really got the chance to talk to them, I was mostly put with the regular clones.

The regs said that I was a mistake, that I shouldn't have been created, but I didn't really care much. I was gonna be a soldier and serve the Republic, just like them, right?

A few days ago, I saw 99 on cleaning duty, so I went to help him out a bit.

"Y'know what they do to defective clones like us?" 99 asked. I shook my head, I probably didn't wanna know the answer either way.

"They make us do jobs like this, transporting weapons and stuff, cleaning up after the others."

"Mhm. And soon enough they're gonna make me do that as well, aren't they?" I asked.

"Yep."

I could understand why, though. I was also physically weaker than the other clones, which would be a disadvantage on the battlefield.

If the Kaminoans were gonna make me do that kind of shit for the rest of my life, I was gonna have to make my own path.

Jango and Boba Fett were living on Kamino, and I knew for a fact they had a ship. So when a Jedi ship landed on Kamino, I snuck onto Jango's ship and hid there. Wasn't really hard, cause no one seemed to care about (biologically) 14 year-old me anyways.

Soon enough, the ship took off and we landed on Geonosis after a totally calm ride through an asteroid field.

I mostly stayed in the ship during that time, not wanting to get noticed. It was only when the blaster fire died down that I ran to a hangar, stole a random ship and flew off to a place in the outer rim, where hopefully no one could find me.

I mainly survived on cantina leftovers, and found a knife on the floor which I always kept with me in case I needed to defend myself.

That definitely came in handy when the Separatists took over the planet where I was. I hid in the alleys when battle droids patrolled the streets, and whenever they came into my territory, let's just say they didn't come back out.

I remembered when the clones came to clear this planet of the Separatists, I remembered the blaster fire, and I was covering my ears hiding in an alley, curled up into a ball when battle droids came in.

Instinctively, I reached for my knife and sliced the head off of one battle droid, and the others pointed their blasters at me, about to fire.

I managed to stab another in the head before one of them shot me in the shoulder. It felt like that area where I got shot was being burned, and I winced, holding my shoulder and backing up against a wall, the battle droids still pointing their blasters at me.

Suddenly, the battle droids were shot from behind, and I saw a clone in white and blue armour standing there, pistols raised.

"You alright kid?" he asked.

I nodded, still holding my shoulder.

The clone examined me for a moment. I could feel my heart pounding in my head.

Please don't recognize me as a clone, please don't recognize me as a clone-

"Are you a clone?"

Ah shit.

There was something different about this clone though. I felt like I could trust him, I didn't think he would turn me in to the Kaminoans.

I nodded silently.

"You're a...female clone?" he asked.

I nodded again.

"Cmon. We should get you patched up. That wound on your shoulder looks nasty."

The clone held out his hand, and I hesitantly took it, following him to a republic ship.

"Now just stay here, the medic will come in a while, I'll come back in a while."

I watched as the clone ran off to the battlefield, rubbing my shoulder.

When the medic came, I asked him,"Who's that clone in the white and blue armour?"

"That's Captain Rex," the medic said as he bandaged up my shoulder. "He's a good soldier. Why'd he bring you here?"

"Just lucky, I guess," I replied.

The medic chuckled a bit under his helmet. "Name's Kix, what's yours?"

My voice was quiet. "I...don't have one. Back on Kamino, I was just assigned a number."

"You're a clone?" Kix asked.

"Mhm, female clone, I was never meant to exist but, here I am. And I swear if you bring me back to Kamino I'm gonna make sure you're gonna have an injury that you can't fix." I said, motioning to the knife on my belt.

Kix laughed. "I won't turn you in, we're not snitches."

"Good for you."

A few hours later, Rex and the others returned. The other clones all gave me this "who tf is this dude" look, and Rex motioned for me to follow him, which I did. He led me to a room and sat me down on a bed, and took off his helmet.

"How're you feeling kid?" he asked.

I just nodded as a response.

"Clones your age should be on Kamino, not out here."

"Don't bring me back, I don't wanna be on cleaning duty for the rest of my life," I said quietly.

"Why would they make you do that? You're a clone, just like all of us are. We were bred to be soldiers."

"I'm physically weaker than the others, you could say I'm a defective clone."

"That doesn't make you any less valuable than us." Rex put a hand on my good shoulder.

I shrugged my shoulders. "The Kaminoans gave me basic military training but not much else, I'm quite alright with a knife but I don't mind using a sniper either."

"I could train you myself..."

I immediately jumped up from the bed. "HELL YEA LES GOOOOOO"

"But it's not gonna be easy, and you can't just back out halfway through."

I sat back down on the bed, nodding.

Rex smiled. "Do you have a name?"

I shook my head. "I was only assigned a number on Kamino."

"Well, there was this jedi general who was really good at her melee skills, used swords and everything when she was transported to another realm and found her way back here. Her name's Aris, leader of the 504th Legion and general Skywalker's sister. So let's just call you Aris for now, how does that sound?"

"That sounds like a cool name," I replied, nodding.

"Okay then, Aris. Welcome to the Grand Army of The Republic."

LISTEN

sometimes Wrecker just has to

YEET his brothers and I respect that.

My favorite Hunter, top tier Hunter, is the one that has a playful side. It might not come out all the time but it sure is there. As a person who has siblings I have to say that when your sibling is being Annoying™️ you are 100000% done with them and will complain about their antics in the moment but those are usually the memories you look back on with fondness. (At least one my experience anyway!)

Tech’s ramblings are ✨chefs kiss✨ and I adore him and all of his nerdy info dumping.

Crosshair deserves to be (affectionately) bullied and Hunter is amazing at that.

I’m so glad you liked it and I loved hearing all of your thoughts on it! I’m glad these silly spooky themed fics are being enjoyed!

Hunter as the girl from The Ring? It's more likely than you think.

The second installment of my silly spooky things for October is up on Ao3! I'm so excited for you to read it and I hope you enjoy it!

The Bad Batch "loopy" on anesthesia head canons

I saw this article on Bored Panda, (It's a really cool site that I go to to kill boredom) talking about what patients said while being floaty on anesthesia and it led me to this catastrophe.

<I'm sorry if any or all of this seems out of character>

The Bad Batch "loopy" On Anesthesia Head Canons

Wrecker

He's a big guy so the medical staff have to use three to four times the standard anesthetic to put him under.

There were about twenty medical staff trying to hold him down.

as they are putting him under he keeps muttering that Crosshair promised him mantell mix.

(he didn't but Hunter makes him get it anyway)

When Wrecker wakes up, he wakes up violently and says "sorry, I thought I was a Krayt Dragon"

Wrestles with five medics and a Kaminoan

Begs Hunter to let him keep the Kaminoan's head as a trophy

Hunter wants to say yes but says no instead

Wrecker starts crying and only stops when Crosshair shows up with "promised" mantell Mix

Wrecker later admits that he actually, consciously scammed Crosshair.

Crosshair chases Wrecker while Wrecker runs around laughing.

Wakes up from the anesthesia on the Marauder's roof.

Tech

"you may experience profound disorientation upon awakening." the doctor tells him

As the medics are putting him under he mutters "you better not try anything, I know where you work." right before passing out.

As he woke up, he opened one eye and looked around "I wouldn't call this PROFOUND." Then he started crying and then passed out

When he wakes up again he hears Hunter talking to the surgeon and screams "YOU CAN'T KEEP ME AWAY, MY DEAD PEOPLE NEED ME- where's my datapad?" ~ passes out

Talks to himself. Interrupts self while talking to self. Gets into argument with self. No longer speaking to self.

"My bones feel wet, may I have a napkin?"

Claims the doctors stole his nose. (Crosshair pretended to)

Argues with the doctor about quantum physics, ends up getting really mad and breaks a datapad over his head.

"Which one of these charges my brain??" ~ loopy Tech holding up an IV

Glares at Hunter "Why did you eat the Marauder?????" ~ passes out

Slaps Crosshair with his goggles

Then say that Hunter looks like cheese before passing out again.

Wakes up from the anesthesia sitting in the Marauder's pilot seat with the rest of the Batch in a heap in the back of the ship and they're in space...

Hunter

Heightened senses mean they need to use less anesthesia on him

Starts crying as they put him under.

When he wakes up he starts mumbling incoherently

"I wannaa see picturess!!!!"

"Where's my knife??"

"It'd be cool to do knives. I wanna job about knives."

Tech tells him that they need to stay in medical for a little while longer. "Nooooooo wanna do KNIVEZZZZ!!" ~ crying

Wants to kiss the medical droid to Wrecker and Crosshair's amusement but Tech threatens them before they get into Hunter's reach.

Singing hysterically as somebody is screaming a few beds down

"HeLLo HuTeR" ~ "WHAT?! WHO ARE YOU?!" ~ *Wrecker giggling*

(Hunter scared himself with his own voice)

When he wakes up from anesthesia he accuses Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair of being liars because he doesn't remember what they said had happened.

Echo

They need to use even less anesthetic than did for Hunter

He almost gives a surgeon a concussion by hitting him with his scomp arm.

"YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!!"

Almost attacks Nala Se (all the clone medics are laughing as this happens)

Echo wakes up singing "My life is a mess and I don't care!"

Crosshair is dying trying to contain laughter as Wrecker sings along

Tech tries to keep him focused by telling him to count to ten

"But I've only got half my fingers..." ~ crying

(Tech not saying a single word)

"Tech stop you're too much right now..."

"I wanna slap Dooku, I.. uh you- ya know WHAT?! I'm just gonna call himm COUNT DOOKEY!!!"

The whole ward erupts into laughter

Wakes up from the anesthesia to a laughter filled medical ward.

Crosshair passed out from laughter for the first time in his life that day. The rest of the bad batch was half dead.

Crosshair

He has such a high metabolism that they need to use twice the normal dose of anesthetic on him.

Tried to bite the anesthesiologist. THRICE

*cursing in mando'a* ~ passes out

Woke up and saw his brothers worried about him. "Kriff this" *goes back to sleep*

"They put wires all on my bones..."

He gets very mad about the beeping on the monitor.

"HEY!! I'M TALKING TO YOU!! WHAT'S WITH ALL THAT BEEPIN'?!?! SHUT UP!!!"

Starts singing to drown out the beeping.

"IIIIIIIIIIIIII SSAAAIIIIIIIIDDD SHUTT UUUUUUUUUUUPP!!!!" in song form.

When the doctors came and took the sensors off his chest, he claimed they stole his nipples... ~ crying

"PUT THEM BACK ON!!!"

"You are a glorified banana man" ~ to Hunter (he meant Bandana Man)

"Hey Cross! Can I use your rifle??" ~ Wrecker

"no no no noooooo you stay awaaaayy" ~ crosshair

Slaps Hunter for absolutely no reason.

"My nose iss drippy"

"My lips are numb"

"All they serve is pudding it tastes like butt."

Wakes up from the anesthesia hiding in the Marauder snuggling Lula

If you enjoyed these then feel free to request more with your favorite clones! 😅

_Chapter 4_

As Omega succumbs to sleep, Crosshair watches her small form on his chest, shielded by his hand. He, firstly, was confused about this whole situation. Like, what could have caused this. Tech better have some sort of idea. Secondly, Cross felt a lingering pain in his chest, though he would never admit it aloud. The way Omega looked at him was nearly enough to make him almost start tearing up. Again, something he would never admit. And thirdly, He was scared for Omega. Was this permanent? What would her life be like? Would she be living in constant fear? The questions continued, but he pushed them to the back of his mind. Right now he needs to focus on Omega.

As he gazes down at her, he feels a sudden wave of wonder. She was small, very small, maybe roughly 4 inches? She looked physically ok, no bruises or cuts or mangled limbs. Every breath was miniscule, nearly impossible to spot, unless you had Crosshair's vision. And her small twitches and the rise and fall of her chest were barely felt. It was crazy to him that this was happening, but what would you expect with their family’s track record, and seamless bad luck? But, no matter what, he was going to ensure that she was safe and that she was not alone.

_Time skip_

Slowly, Omega’s mind stirs awake, taking in the telltale sounds of hushed whispers from who she can only assume are her brothers. Momentarily stretching her limbs out, she pushes her blanket off as she sits up, rubbing at her eyes to wake up. As she looks around, she stiffens. Breath caught in her throat as she looked upon the living room.

It's bigger than it should be, As the walls stretch out far, and the couch, which she realizes she is sitting on, spans out far across her vision. Yesterday’s events play in her head as she remembers, she is small, impossibly small. Cautiously, she backs up, trying to take in her surroundings as best as she can. Until her back meets a plush surface. She turns her head, spotting Lula, but she is huge, looming over Omega. Omega feels sick, this should NOT be happening, it’s just not possible. But it is, and she is possibly stuck like this. How is she gonna confront her brothers?! They are HUGE to her, just thinking about how they are able to take up her entire view sends a shiver down her spin.

Taking a minute, she stays seated, leaning against Lula. In all honesty, it’s kinda cool to see the world from this perspective, everything feels the same but also different altogether. And she notices things that otherwise would have been overlooked without a second thought. She rubs her hand against one of the many stitch works that decorate Lula. Everything is so much more detailed up close. It wouldn’t hurt to get up and try to explore a bit, just need to find a safe way down. Getting up, she walks towards the edge and cautiously looks over. It’s steep, a drop this high could be fatal. Stepping back, she walks to the pillows that rest on the middle cushion of the couch.

Just as her hand reaches out to feel the fringes of a pillow, a voice pipes up from the kitchen. “I’ma go check on ‘Mega.” she startles, facing the kitchen, she can pick up on the sounds of heavy footsteps coming her way. She needs to hide, but where!? Frantically looking around, she can only spot two options; make a run for Lula, or slip to the other side of the pile of pillows and hide in the makeshift corner. The latter seems like a better option, so pillows it is. Running to hide on the other side of the pillows, she tucks her body into the corner made by the pillows and the couch cushion.

The heavy footfalls reach the other end of the couch, presumably where she woke up at. “Wait… Where'd she…” Who she guesses is Wrecker, speaks aloud. Kark! Is he gonna start looking for her!? She shimmies further into the makeshift hiding spot. She doesn’t know what to do. She isn’t ready to face them. Not now. She knows that they would never even think of hurting her. But, just their difference in height makes her feel uneasy.

The silence is cut off when Wrecker's footsteps retreat , she can only guess, to the kitchen. Hearing distressed voices of her vod in the kitchen. Not a moment later, what she can only compare to an earthquake, enters the living room.

Hunter darts into the room, followed by the others. Wrecker's statement of Omega not being on the couch worried them greatly. What if she was stuck? Or what if she was hurt, or lost? They couldn’t risk anything happening, now more than ever. Walking in, they each scanned the room for any signs of her, she couldn’t have gone far. Hearing her brothers searching through the room sent a surge of panic up her body. She was DEFINITELY not ready to face them. The memories of being caught by Crosshair played in her mind, a shiver ran down her spine. The thought of being held again was nerve racking. Lost in thought, she didn’t hear the others stop their search.

The beeping of her comm going off brought her back to reality. “Osik!” she curses, forgetting that she still wore it on her wrist. But she quiets down at the realization of her ever growing predicament. Hunter has incredible hearing. Hunter is in the same room as her. Hunter can hear her. Hand covering her mouth, she prays that he didn’t pick up on her voice. She can’t do this, she can’t.

After what felt like forever, the pillows carefully shifted. Omega, startled by the movement, makes to dart to the end of the couch, but her leg is stuck. It’s wedged deep in between the cushions. Desperately she tugs and pulls her leg, putting all of her strength into it. Kark, she needs to run! She is a sitting duck!

“No no no no no no no!” She repeats, frantically trying to get her leg to budge. But nothing seems to work. In her haze of panic, she doesn’t notice that the pillows have been completely removed for a bit, revealing her frantic, small form to her brothers. Whom watch with mixed expressions, ranging from pity, to deep concern at her struggle. Hunter stands the closest, pillows in hand, followed by Wrecker. Wrecker takes a careful step towards the distressed girl, kneeling down slowly to see her better.

The feeling of HUGE fingers on her leg scares the Kark out of her, to put it simply. She yelps as they move her leg from between the cushions with ease. Showing off the obvious difference in power. As the leg is freed, Omega instinctively turns her body as much as she can and lands a kick to one of the oversized digits. Was she thinking? No. Was it probably a smart idea to kick at someone much larger than herself? Probably not.

The fingers let go and she falls backwards. Looking up, she catches Wreckers' hurt expression. Immediately, she feels great shame. Sure, nothing she can physically do could hurt him. But she just kicked him when he was only trying to help her. Fear and regret swirl in her mind as she looks upon the giant man. She can’t stop the tears from welling up in her eyes.

“Wr-Wrecker… I-I” She starts but fails to finish as tears trail down her cheek. She hates this, being afraid when she shouldn’t. These are her vod for crying out loud. Sure, they can be a bit rough and serious at times. But she loves them, and they love her. This primal fear of, not them specifically, but of their size was really starting to get on her nerves. If she can survive Tantiss TWICE, then she shouldn’t be having problems with being this small in the presence of her brothers! Wiping her tears with the back of her hand, she takes a deep breath in.

The sight of Wreckers looming hand outstretched towards her nearly startles her, but she holds her ground. Instead of focusing on the obvious size difference, she tries to remind herself that this Wrecker. The Wrecker that would take her to get Mantell mix after a mission, the Wrecker that would lift her onto her shoulders and run around as she laughed, the Wrecker that showed his love for others with his bear hugs. He may be large, but he is anything but dangerous. Well, to her at least.

Tentatively, his hand reaches her, thumb resting the side of her face as the rest of his digits cup behind her, lightly touching. His thumb cautiously rubs her cheek, the movement miniscule to him. His hand radiates warmth, just being close to it helps to stave off some of the chill. She craves comfort more than anything right now. Oh, how she would kill for one of his bear hugs. But she will have to make do for now, so she does the closest thing. She latches onto his thumb in a makeshift hug. Her arms barely able to reach all the way around, but she doesn’t care.

His hand stiffens, surprised by her sudden hug. But he quickly relaxes and reciprocates, his hold snug. Her quiet sobs don’t go unnoticed. As her grasp on his thumb tightens, his brows knit together.

“Hey, hey, shhh… It’s a’ok ‘mega, yer safe.” he whispers as softly as can muster, not wanting to scare more than he already has. “... can… can I pick ya up?” He musters to ask as he gazes upon his shaken sister. Who looks back up at him with wide eyes.

Considering his offer, she takes a moment to steel herself before nodding. As Wrecker slowly cups her in a single hand, she holds on tightly to his thumb. Even with how slow Wrecker moves, she still gets a pit feeling in her stomach as he stands up to his full height. Now level with his shoulders she gets a better read of the room. Remembering that they aren't alone. Spotting her brothers scattered across the room, staring at her, slightly startles her. But she is quick to push it aside. Again, these are her brothers! No need to be scared of them. Hunter stands a few feet from Wrecker, face stern but soft. His eyes search her for what she can only guess is possible injuries. Leaning against a couch arm, behind Hunter, is Tech, who keeps looking at his datapad with the occasional typing and back up at her. And Cross is nowhere to be seen, which confuses her.

Hunter is the one to break the shared silence. “Omega? You ok?... How’d-” He steps forward, getting closer to the girls. The sudden movement makes her stiffen. But, Hunter stops mid step, not moving any closer. The look in his eyes screams heartbreak. Realizing her mistake, she wills herself to relax and bite down her fear.

“I’m.., I’m ok, Hunter, I'm fine.” She states, not missing the way his shoulders relax. “I… I don’t know what happened, how… THIS happened. I’m just…” Omega continues as she gestures to herself, latching onto her much needed confidence. “I’m just so- and, and everything is so-.... What’s gonna happen?” Her question wavers in the air, Keeping her eyes on her Hunter, hopeful for an answer. Her brothers share a look, a silent conversation.

“We will figure this out, Miss Omega. one way or another.”

_Chapter 3_

Omega yelps in distress as she feels large, strong digits wrap around her body, holding her in place. She can’t move, she’s trapped. Her breathing hitches as more tears work their way down her face. Throat seeming too small to properly breath. The giant fingers have her wrapped in a tight enough hold that she can’t wiggle her way out.

But that doesn’t stop her from attempting to escape, as she frantically pushes with her free arm, but her efforts are worthless, they don’t move. “No, No, No, No, No, No, No!” She cries as she struggles. The sudden nausea that overtakes her is nearly blinding as she can only guess that she is being lifted up from the ground. A loud, shaky gasp breaks her train of thought. Looming above her, impossibly huge, encompassing her entire field of vision, is Crosshair. The sight alone makes her flinch and her hyperventilation increases. Her mind feels clouded, she won’t be able to stay awake for long if she doesn’t figure out a way out fast.

“Omega?” A whisper, though loud to her, escapes Crosshair. He seems worried, very worried. His eyes are somewhat blown wide, brows creased down, and his mouth hangs slightly open. Open enough to see inside his mouth, toothpick limp in the corner.

“C-Cross?!” She can’t seem to break eye contact, it feels like he is staring directly into her soul.

The sudden shift of his hand causes her to jolt, breaking her eye contact. “Hey. Hey, it’s ok… It’s ok kid.” His voice impossibly soft, whispers above her as he moves his hands to gently hold her. Omega, now sitting in his cupped hands, can’t seem to keep her panic down. When she is given room, she instinctively backs up, only to meet his curled fingertips to her back. She flinches from the contact, trying her best to silence a yelp, but it still comes out. Crosshairs shoulders drop, his gaze is glazed over with sadness at her reaction.

“Omega-” The sound of Tech calling her name brings back her somewhat receding panic. As she quickly turns her head to look at Tech, who stands to the side behind Crosshair. Their collective stare on her figure makes her duck her head, the flow of panic getting stronger. Her arms wrap around her legs as she curls in on herself.

The sight of ONE of her Vod standing impossibly large scared her immensely, but TWO was an entirely different story. They are so much bigger than her, she is at their complete mercy, and that doesn’t sit right with her. They could do whatever they wanted, that thought made her feel small, useless. As her lungs continued to heave, a finger met her back in a rubbing motion, an attempt to calm her. But it did the opposite as she shied away violently from the touch. Crosshair released a sigh as he kept his gaze on her shaking form, wishing to provide her comfort, but he didn’t know how.

Tech's eyes darted towards the coach as he lifted his hand onto Cross’ shoulder and motioned towards it with his head. Cross nodded in understanding, making his way over, his strides impossibly long, each step shaking her form. He gave her an apologetic glance at the movement. As he knelt down beside the black family couch, Tech set a few pillows to act as a seat of sorts, elevating her from the couch. Crosshair, ever so gently, laid her shaken body on the pillows, and backed up a bit, taking a seat next to Tech in front of the couch, now meeting eye to eye with Omega. The silence was almost deafening as they continued to stare at each other, not knowing what to say.

Tech is the first to speak. “Omega… What… happened?” he silently questioned his hand gesturing to her small, curled up form.

His question broke her from her frightened trance, and she looked down at herself, unsure how to respond. “I-I... don’t kn-know…. I’m sorry.” she responds quietly, her face turned to the side avoiding their gaze. A quiet sob escapes her quivering lips, the backs of her hands reaching her eyes in a feeble attempt to brush off the tears.

“Omega, it is perfectly fine to feel scared in a situation such as this, we do not judge you for that. You are safe, we are here for you.” Tech’s statement brings her a bit of comfort that helps her bite the panic down a notch. She nods in understanding as she meets his gaze.

Her breath hitches in the back of her throat as a single digit, presumably Cross’ thumb, reaches towards her. It stops moving, she breathes in and steals herself as she looks at him and gives him a small nod. His thumb continues to move closer at a snail's pace till it gently rests on her arm, rubbing up and down. His touch is notably warm, her body instinctively leans into the comforting touch, though he momentarily freezes for a sec before continuing to comfort her.

Tech gets up and backs up, walking towards the door, he turns back. “I’m gonna com Hunter and Wrecker, update them on… this. I’ll be right back.” And with that, he steps out the door, leaving Omega and Crosshair in the living room.

They continue to enjoy the quiet and relax, or as much as Omega could. Her stomach was still set in what felt like a permanent drop. Looking up made her uneasy. “Quiet doesn’t suit you kid. What’s up?” He asks with a knowing smile.

Omega has to do a double take, unsure at first if it was intentional or not. “Did… Did you seriously just use a pun?” Omega deadpans as his smirk widens. Why that little-

“Well, you know what they say, being short has its ups and downs, but mostly downs.” he finishes, barely containing the small huff of laughter that threatens to make itself known.

“Why you little-” she jokingly retorts before Crosshair snorts and starts to double over, failing to cover a wheeze. Omega tilts her head, unsure what was so funny until it connects.

“No… I did not just make a pun… No.” She airs out her realization in a fit of giggles. Crosshair continues to muffle his cackling for Omega’s sake as she joins him with her own laughter. As their laughter died down, Omega notes how her eyes keep on dropping.

She doesn’t know how she feels about sleeping at the moment, but her decision is already made. “I’ll keep watch if you need kid, it’s ok.” Crosshair senses her drowsiness. His eyes scanning her exhausted form, her eyes red and puffy, and her hair all over the place.

“you .. you sure?” Omega asks quietly. Sure, she feels uneasy, but this Cross, her “little” brother.

“Deadly” he responds, getting a small giggle from the girl. She nods her head and looks around. Understanding her uneasiness of the situation, he takes it upon himself to gently pick her up and hold her as he sits back against the couch. She responds with a startled yelp, but he shushes her, cradling her small form to his chest as she lets sleep take over as she listens to the welcoming beat of his heart.

_Chapter 2_

Bright light greets Omega’s vision as she comes to consciousness, noting the aching that seems to be present all over her body. She sits up, her hands messaging her temple and eyes. Her last moments feel a bit muddled. Omega assesses herself, beside the aching, she is just cold. Too cold. She gets a proper look in front of her and stops in confusion, why is the floor stretched… so… Far… out? Her eyes glance further up and her breath hitches as it dawns on her what lays before her.

“What.. the. Kriff?! I- W-what in the-” Her voice barely above a whisper and shaky as she takes in the sight of her family's kitchen bigger, much, much bigger than it should be. Cabinets and shelves loom over her like the tallest buildings of Coruscant, the ceiling impossibly stretched far above her. A mix of awe and dread, mostly dread, left a deep, swirling pit in her stomach, as if a trap door had sprung open beneath her and dropped her flailing body into an endless void. Thoughts start to plague her, her breathing quickens, hands clench the sides of her head as she curls in on herself. Before her mind could continue its growing panic, her wrist comm goes off.

“Havoc 2? Do you copy?.... Omega?” Hunter’s voice sounds from her device, A tone of panic apparent. Not good, he is worried. Though it is enough to push a little bit of the panic at bay. For now that is.

“Hu-Havoc 1, I-I cop-copy. What’s the.. The situation?” she curses her stuttered response. He’ll definitely notice her stressed tone.

“Just wanted to check in on you, weren’t answering for a minute. Are you ok? You don’t sound alright. What’s… what’s the matter Omega? Are you in danger?!” concern rings through. He caught onto her panic. Kriff.

“You-you could s-say that? I guess?” She responds, she doesn't know how she should proceed without scaring him one way or another. But what else could she do!? She was impossibly small, smaller than one should ever find themselves!

“What do you mean by that Omega?” His question, laced with palpable confusion.

Omega took a second to think out her response, taking a breath she continues, “I’m not in d-danger, just, a bit… a bit out of sorts. I have NO idea what is going on, b-but… I don’t re-really think it’s something I can possibly explain over a-a comm, more or s-so… show in person. I am sorry, but I am just …just, really, really freaked out right now Hunter.” She finishes, her breathing less hectic, not completely, but it’s better than nothing. She at least feels a lil bit less lightheaded, something she just realized.

The comm is quiet for a few seconds, a small light beeping from the device on her wrist. She hears him take a breath from the other side, “So… You are not in any danger. But you are freaked out and don’t know how to explain it?” He parrots back to Omega.

“Basically. I-” she starts back when Hunter cuts in.

“I’ll com Cross and Tech to check on ya, You are still at the house, right?” His statement cuts into her, the thought of the others seeing her, or her seeing them, hadn’t crossed her mind, till now.

Her breathing quickens again, hands becoming clammy and sweaty. “Ye- Wa-wait! Hunter, I don- I don’t know if th-that’s a-” Her attempts at pleading were for not as the call went dead. It was too late. They were gonna see, they were gonna see her diminished size. And she… she was gonna see their looming forms. If the lower cabinets are enough to make her stomach drop with anxiety, what would happen if she were to face them!? The sound of the front door creaking open alerted Omega back into reality, her body going off of instinct as she darted, aiming to hide under the lower cabinet ledge. Her heartbeat drowned out her thoughts, her body stuck in a fight or flight mode. Her breathing was dangerously loud with her heaving for oxygen. Eyes wide as she heard their booming voices calling for her. Their footfalls like earthquakes that shook her very being to the core.

“Miss Omega?! Are you here?” Tech seemed to impossibly shout louder than she thought was possible. She brought up her hands to cover her ears, hoping for some solas that it will help with the noise. Their footsteps echoed throughout the house as they checked every room till they seemed to stop.

Even in another part of the house, she could hear their conversation, “Where could she be?! Hunter said that she was home!” Crosshairs unmistakable voice boomed with his usual raspiness.

“I haven't the slightest clue as to where she may possibly be at as we have searched the whole house.” Tech states in his usual fashion.

Omega could possibly hear Cross’ eyes rolling, “What do you propose we do? Got any bright idea’s Mr. Glasses?!” He snarked back, though she could pick up worry lacing his snarkiness.

“No need to worry Crosshair, as Hunter requested of me to set up a series of hidden cameras around for safety purposes.” Tech’s statement sent Omega’s panic into overdrive. Camera!? They’ll see her, They’ll find her, They’ll…. They’ll… She doesn’t know what will happen when they find her, but she doesn’t want to know. Her fear has taken over any and all rational thought. She can’t seem to think about anything good coming out of her brothers, her Vod, finding her in this state.

The house is deathly quiet as she presumes that Tech has pulled up the camera’s video feeds and is going over them for signs of her. After what felt like forever, she picks up on a quiet, yet surprised “oh” from Tech. Followed by a clear as day “What in actual Kriff did we just watch?” from Crosshair. Taking into account that they must have seen her diminished size on the feed, she bolts out of her hiding spot, racing as fast as her legs can go towards the wide open door. The moment she is running, she can feel their thunderous footfalls racing to her position. She can’t face them, not like this. She exerts more force into her steps as tears blur her view of the door. They are getting dangerously close, She reckons she is only about halfway to the door when they make it to the living room hallway.

“Omega!!” A shout, so loud that she violently flinches, nearly tripping, sounds from Tech, or was it Cross? That doesn’t matter as her only goal is to make it out the door. Right when she is about 4 feet from the door, it slams shut at an alarming speed, her ears ringing. Realization hits when a deafening step crashes to her side and the sight of long, outstretched fingers comes into view.

“NO!” she jolts from the path of the giant hand and darts to the side, now setting her sights on the couch. As tears smear her face, she doesn’t seem to catch onto the hand that reaches for her from behind. Until it's too late.

(setting/introduction) It had been about 2 months since the fall of Tantis. In this world, Tech survived the fall and was found during Omega and Crosshairs first escape, said fall had resulted in him losing a leg and needing spinal implants. Now, in their present time, they live on Pabu, their new home dubbed “Marauder #2”. Echo still helps Rex with finding their brothers and rebelling against the Empire, but he makes a point to visit when he can. Wrecker helps around at the docks, Tech has taken up on improving the education of the island, Hunter helps with the town's trades and shipments, and Cross has taken up tsunami/weather watching. During Omega’s time stuck on Tantis, Hemlock took an interest in conducting an experiment, one that Omega hardly even remembers and practically forgets altogether. But, it would have an ever-present effect on her life, she just won’t know till it is too late…. Or is it?

_Chapter 1_

Today was a normal average day on Pabu for their family, or as normal as you can get in a household full of ex-military men. They had decided to settle permanently on Pabu after Tantiss. They knew that they couldn’t take any more chances, too many close calls and near deaths had left a sour taste. Now they were safe and living peacefully. Echo still worked with Rex, but he made as much time as he could to be home. It was nearly mid-day, Hunter was running a few errands with Batcher in tow, and Tech and Cross were working outside on a speeder project. Leaving Wrecker as her current company.

“Ay ‘meg, wanna watch a holo ‘fore I leave?” Wrecker offered in his usual loud manner.

Omega had almost forgotten that Wrecker had an appointment for his back, something about a possible damage from overuse? “Oh, um, yea sure. What do you have in mind?” she responded timidly as she sat up straighter.

—Time Skip—

About halfway through the holo, Wrecker had to leave or else he’d be late. He pulled Omega in for a quick hug, figuratively squeezing the life out of her.

“Be good will ya? Don’t cause trouble while am gone.” He stated as he set her back on the ground, a joking smile creased his face. His hand came up and ruffled her hair.

“No promises Wreck, trouble is my middle name.” Omega giggled, a pointed finger raised as if to make her point.

Wrecker's eyes lit up with mock confusion, playing along with her joke “you have a middle name? Since when?!” He boomed, his face crinkled in amusement.

“I kid, I kid Wreck, I’ll try my best, but no promises. I’ll see you soon Vod.” Omega smiled as Wrecker turned to leave, waving bye as he exited. Omega sat back down on the family couch as she continued to watch the holo.

—Time Skip—

After a bit, Omega reasoned that she should get something to snack on, Hunter wouldn’t be all too happy if she skipped a meal, again. So, she picked herself up and waltzed over to the kitchen. She took stock of what was available and decided on her meal. As she reached into one of the cupboards, nausea bristled in her head, pulling her hand back to smooth out her creased forehead. All too soon, black spots dotted her vision till it took over completely.

More to come soon!❤️

If he’s not coming back we need to burn Dave’s cowboy hat collection ☺️

Reasons why I believe this isn't a final Death

denial

There's a couple parallels between Tech's death and Echo's supposed death. First of all, we don't see a body in either case. Not Echo's and also not Tech's. We do see Echo's charred helmet and we see Tech's broken goggles later on. The team also had to leave right away in both cases, otherwise they would've been captured/killed. And they both sacrificed themselves for the team. If Echo didn't die, then why should Tech?

Denial

All that character building this season. Like of that was for nothing, then that was terrible writing. If that was to make us more attached to Tech so that his death hurt more, that is also terrible writing. I mean, he got a whole ass lovestory-in-the-making and that's the character you'll kill off?? c'mon. just as he was learning more about people and showing affection and social interaction, and learning how to properly and respectfully communicate with Omega??? that's when you kill him off? c'mon.

DENIAL

The fact that it was Hemcock that found him. You know the guy who does experiments on clones? Why lose such a valuable test subject? if there were any signs of life from Tech, he must've saved him, if only to use him and maybe modify him (again, Echo parallels)

DENIAL

✨ star wars medicine ✨

I mean, last season Hunter fell down a cliff from a moving ship and he survived just fine. I'm just saying.

DENIAL

The Bad Batch + NightSister!reader

The Bad Batch + NightSister!reader

You are one of the survivors of the cleansing on Dathomir and now you are on a journey. It is not surprising that on your way you meet different living beings, including clones.

Thanks to your acquaintance with Sid, she offered you as a help for some clones that call themselves a Bad Batch. It's a strange name.

Among these clones was a little girl who turned out to be fascinated by your appearance and asked so many questions, but…You didn't hate her. Omega, that's how she introduced herself. A charming child. But soon you were able to meet others.

Hunter:

The leader of these clones. Strangely, he was much shorter than the others. Although it's not weird, it's funny. Judging by the way he behaved, he fully corresponded to his name. Mysterious, strong, as if like the personification of a real man in a good way.

Wrecker:

The noisiest among them and the biggest. When he saw you, he tried to flirt clumsily and show how strong he was. It seemed that he was in the truest sense of the word, a child in the body of an adult man. You didn't know much about clones and their biology, so there were a lot of questions.

Echo:

The quiet one. He stands somewhere next to everyone else and is mostly silent. The interesting thing is that you saw that he is half human and half made of metal. Who is he? A droid? There were only more questions.

Tech:

And this miracle in goggles is a walking encyclopedia. Listening to him, you had to strain your brain a lot and think about everything he was saying. There is too much terminology and dry analytics. And he talked too much, telling you a few facts about Dathomir. You wanted to interrupt him, but it was pretty hard to do.

& Crosshair:

There is too much concentration of mockery and sarcasm in front of others. On the one hand, he looked more severe, but at the same time, he did not waste a moment and tried to be charming. It was not very usual for any man to openly flirt and not restrain himself.

Hello there! I love all your posts so much, and I was wondering... how would the Bad Batch react if the female reader asked to paint their nails? I think Crosshair would either be irritated, or ask for black!

Please and thank you! :)

Hello There! I Love All Your Posts So Much, And I Was Wondering... How Would The Bad Batch React If The

Hi! Thanks for the request! I think it would be like this:

Hunter:

He can't refuse you such a request, because it makes you so happy. Therefore, he will sit patiently and observe the whole process. And when you finish painting his nails, he will definitely praise your work. You've tried so hard.

Echo:

At first, he will think that he heard something. But he saw the seriousness of your intentions. At first, he will hesitate for a while, but still agree. — I will do everything in the best possible way! Echo will only smile and extend a healthy hand.

Wrecker:

He likes your idea. He agrees to everything, you can do whatever you want with him. Do you want to paint it red? You are welcome. He will even offer some options himself.

Tech:

He'll be a little confused by your request. But who is he to refuse? Of course, he will start lecturing about the importance of taking care of your nails. In his case, this is not surprising at all.

Crosshair:

What kind of stupid ideas are being born in your head? Why would he paint his nails? Absolute stupidity. At first he will refuse this idea, but after seeing how upset you were by his refusal, after a while he agreed. — But only black! — Whatever you say!

boobies support [ The Bad Batch x reader]

i am SO sorry :D

summary: your lover had a bad day, so you decided to support him in an unusual way. His head was resting on your chest.

Boobies Support [ The Bad Batch X Reader]

Hunter:

Hunter was so surprised that he couldn't say anything about your action. He had not expected this at all. — Get some rest, dear, you're too tired today. The man looked shyly into your eyes. — No need to say anything, just rest.

Echo:

This poor boy didn't know what to do with it. He was very embarrassed by such a display of care for him. You heard him breathing heavily. — Echo, it's all right, honey. I just want to support you. You're tired and you need to rest. Are you comfortable? — Y-yes, thank you…

Wrecker:

He was only glad of it, although at first he was a little embarrassed. — So soft... He relaxed a lot and was all yours. He felt so good that he closed his eyes and just enjoyed the moment. — Crosshair will be jealous of me. You both started laughing.

Tech:

He immediately stopped saying his conclusions. You noticed how he blushed a little. Before telling you his opinion, he coughed and adjusted his goggles. — This is a very unusual solution to problems. But…I like the softness of your chest. — he coughed again. — That's not what I meant. You just smiled at him. — Rest, dear.

Crosshair:

He likes your attention. But when you did he was surprised. Did you do it on your own? Did someone tell you that? — Very unlike you, kitten. You looked at him. — Why? I just see that you are very tired today and decided to support you. Rest up, grumpy.

Do another part but with other clones?

TBB + thigh chain

TBB + Thigh Chain

Hunter:

He immediately noticed this chain, but it only made him smile. If you like wearing that, then he can't say no. — Butterflies? That's very beautiful. He saw how happy you were that he liked the chain. — I have a few more of these! Want me to show you? — Sure.

Echo:

The poor boy didn't know what to do because he was very confused when he saw it. You noticed his reaction. — Don't you like the chain? I can take it off… — N-no! It suits you very well! Really! It's just the first time I've seen this.. But you look great!

Wrecker:

This big guy was delighted with this chain. He just sat down at your feet, which allowed him to look at your jewelry. — It's very beautiful! Do you have any more of these? — Yes! — Show me!

Tech:

You didn't even hope that he would notice the changes in your appearance at all. But you decided to try to show him the chain. "Well, I can't put my leg in front of his face, can I?" But you didn't have to do it. He lifted your leg slightly to see the chain. His action made you blush a lot. — Hmm, this is an unusual design decision but I don't quite understand why this is done. I would be glad to hear your opinion on this matter.

Crosshair:

You can't hide from his gaze, he notices the smallest changes in your appearance. And now he is staring intently at this chain. — Were you trying to seduce me with this? If so, then you succeeded. — What? No! I just tried it on! I have the same chain but with snakes! You noticed how interested he was in this. — You know, kitten, your legs look best when they're on my shoulders. — Idiot!

The Bad Batch + f!reader

You are being pursued by an annoying fan and you are asking for help from clones 99.

(if you not okay with this, don't read plz)

Hunter:

He jumped up in surprise when you grabbed his arm. But immediately felt your fear and realized without words that you need help.

— Please pretend we're together, I'm being chased by some strange guy. And I-I'll buy you a drink or something!

— Don't worry, everything will be fine.

Oddly enough, it calmed you down and you felt completely safe next to him. When that annoying guy approached you, he met Hunter's stern gaze.

— Is she with you or something?

— Yes, she's mine. Any problems?

— No problem, man.

The guy quickly disappeared into the crowd. And you breathed a sigh of relief.

— Thank you very much. Can I buy something for you?

— Keep the credits to yourself and take care of yourself.

The Bad Batch + F!reader

Echo:

— Please pretend we're together, I'm being chased by some strange guy. And I-I'll buy you a drink or something!

Echo doesn't like anyone touching him at all, but when you grabbed his hand, he felt you tremble.

— Please don't worry, ma'am. Everything will be fine.

His words immediately made it easier somehow. You looked up and looked at him. He noticed your embarrassment.

— You have beautiful facial features, Mr…

— Echo.

— Nice to meet you, Echo.

You smiled at each other and you felt so relaxed. But then that annoying guy came up to you.

— Is she with you or something?

— So it's you who dare to upset my girl here. If you don't want any problems, then leave in a good way.

The guy was taken aback by his words and decided to leave hastily.

— Thank you very much, you helped me a lot. Can I buy you a drink at least?

Echo smiled.

— I'll buy us something myself. What do you prefer?

The Bad Batch + F!reader

Wrecker:

— Please pretend we're together, I'm being chased by some strange guy. And I-I'll buy you a drink or something!

Wrecker didn't mind that you were clutching his arm but he noticed that you were trembling all over and almost crying. He gave you a little hug.

— Who is this worm? Just show me.

The annoying guy, seeing you with such a big guy, didn't even dare to approach but ran away in fright.

Done! — Wreсker smiled.

— Thank you very much, you helped me a lot. Can I buy you a drink at least?

— Choose something you like, mesh'la.

— What does the last word mean? Does this mean something good?

The big guy laughed at your reaction.

— Yes, it means something good. Someday I'll tell you what it is.

The Bad Batch + F!reader

Tech:

— Please pretend we're together, I'm being chased by some strange guy. And I-I'll buy you a drink or something!

At first, the Tech wanted to be indignant, but he noticed how scared you were. He put down his datapad and began to examine you.

Now you were surprised by his reaction.

— I'm not sick, sir -

His face was very close to yours, which made you blush a lot.

— You can just call me a Tech. And I'll help you. I analyzed the typical behavior of lovers and deduced for myself several examples of behavior in such a situation.

Then he put his hand on your waist and pulled you closer to him.

Just at that moment, that annoying guy came up to you two.

— Is she with you or something?

— It's very rude of you to upset my girl, I invited her to this place for the purpose of fun, and you are so brazenly trying to destroy everything. Disappear if you don't want very big problems.

He made this allusion to Wrecker who was already flexing his fists.

And at first glance, he doesn't look so brutal. That fact made your heart beat faster.

Tech noticed it immediately.

— Are you sure you're okay? If such a situation happens again, then you can turn to me for help or to my brothers. You'll recognize them by their armor like mine.

— Yes, I'm fine! Thank you very much! Can I buy something for you?

— No, thanks, I'll buy it myself.

And he ordered you some goodies.

— Here! This is so that you finally come to your senses.

The Bad Batch + F!reader

Crosshair:

— Please pretend we're together, I'm being chased by some strange guy. And I-I'll buy you a drink or something!

Of course, he knew that the ladies were sticking to him, but not so much. But then he noticed how you were shaking and your voice was breaking.

— Take it easy, kitten.

After that, he pulled you to him. His hands were on your waist and it made you blush.

— What is it? Are you embarrassed?

— N-Nothing! It's all right!

The annoying guy appeared next to you and you pressed hard against the Crosshair.

— Is she with you or something?

— Touch her and you're dead.

He looked at him very sternly and the guy stuttered and disappeared into the crowd of people.

— Thank you very much, you helped me a lot. Can I buy you a drink at least?

The man chuckled.

— Your kiss will be enough for me.

Hunter: — Hunter, I need your help. I've lost something…

When you entered the compartment, you ran into a half-naked man. He immediately sensed your embarrassment.

— I'm sorry. I'll come back later.

From that moment on, you avoided his gaze and stayed away. Hunter thought he had done something wrong. How did he offend you?

One day he finally plucked up the courage and approached you.

— Have I offended you in some way? If that's the case then forgive me.

— It's not your fault, Hunter. I-I just didn't expect to see this… He laughed. — Then let's start looking for what you've lost.

Shirtless!Bad Batch + Shy!reader

Echo:

When you saw him half-naked and ran away, he was very upset. Is he ugly to you?

After that, you felt sorry for him that he misunderstood you.

— Echo, do you have a minute to talk? Are you upset because I ran away? It's not your fault, please don't blame yourself. It's just the first time I've seen this…

Echo smiled. — It's all right now.

Shirtless!Bad Batch + Shy!reader

Wrecker:

When you first saw him half-naked, you even bled from your nose.

— Are you hurt? Who is this worm that hurt you?

— I'm fine! He stood and looked at you. — Then why is your nose bleeding?

— Because I'm looking at you!

Only after that the Pest realized what was the matter and laughed.

— You just like me, darling!

Shirtless!Bad Batch + Shy!reader

Tech:

— Tech, I need your help, I can't solve one puzzle!

With these words, you entered his compartment.

— Of course I will help. — you were very confused when you realized that he approached you being half naked.

He looked at you and adjusted his glasses.

— Are you okay? Are you sick? Why are you shivering and your body temperature is getting higher? Let me examine you.

— No, no! No need! I see you're busy! I'll come back later!

You were about to leave, but he grabbed your hand. — I said I'd help you. Were you listening to me? What kind of puzzle is there? And are you sure you're okay?

— Yes! I'm fine!

Shirtless!Bad Batch + Shy!reader

Crosshair:

— Crosshair, do you have a free minute? I need your help!

You went into his compartment, but you didn't find a man there, so you turned around and wanted to leave, but you ran into him. He was half naked and you were very embarrassed by it.

— What is it, kitten?

— Nothing! I see you're busy! I'll come back later!

But he didn't let you go, he just took you and pressed you against the cold hull of the ship.

— Have I offended you in some way? Forgive me if that's the case. The man laughed.

— You're funny, I like that.

The Bad Batch + angel!reader

Hunter:

It's the first time he meets someone like you. Are these real wings? Wow! He really wants to touch it but he will respect your personal boundaries.

The Bad Batch + Angel!reader

Wrecker:

He will rejoice like a little child. You're an angel and you have fucking wings! He'll fight anyone who tries to touch you. Your personal knight. Although you try to convince him that you are able to stand up for yourself.

The Bad Batch + Angel!reader

Echo:

Is there a real angel standing in front of him or is he still sleeping? Echo thinks you're a beautiful creature but he's afraid to tell you because he's half metal. What if you reject someone like him? But soon Echo realizes that you accept him as he is.

The Bad Batch + Angel!reader

Tech:

You have to prepare for a huge stream of questions from him. Tech will ask about every little thing. Many people would find it annoying, but not for you. He is so passionate about this activity and to see how his eyes light up every time you tell something about yourself is amazing.

The Bad Batch + Angel!reader

Crosshair:

He has seen a lot of creatures in his life but this is the first time he sees such as you. At first he does not dare to come closer and talk to you. But gradually he realized that you are so kind and sympathetic that he began to unconsciously reach out to you. He pretends that he accidentally bumped into you, greets you, stands not far from you, always pays attention to the change in your mood.

I FUCKING FOUND IT! the bad batch one that exists not the one I was looking for for over an hour before I remembered it was the wrong Fandom

Anyway it's called

A Shift in the Galaxy by Lif61(UltimateFandomTrash) and it's from a nerodivergent tech week series

I can't find this on fanfic and i swear I'm going insane 5 miunits ago I was convinced it was a marauders fic but now that I'm thinking about it more it might have been bad batch but god fucking damn it I need this as a marauders fic!!!

What the fic actually is is crosshair is techs safety person so when he leave tech starts writing letters to him that he hides in his room but after tech dies and crosshair comes back crosshair finds the letters and reads them and it's from hid pov

But now imagine a marauders edition of this where Regulus writes Sirius letters after he left but never sends them just keeps them in a box in his room then years later when Sirius is living in grimmaul place(is that how you spell that idk) Sirius finally works up the courage to go in his brother's room (which obviously kretcher Katcher Kracher htf do you spell the little elf's name has kept perfect) anyway when Sirius goes into Reg room he find and reads the letter and it would all be gloriously depressing

So anyway I did go insane I found the bad batch fic and I need the marauders version on my desk by Monday

I've Had this tabed for 2 hours trying to find this damn fic I Remember It Now I'm Not Crazy I JUST NEED TO FIND THE FUCKER
