Temperance Brennan - Blog Posts
my opinion has changed. Brennan is pretty chill SOMETIMES (when she isn't being written to go on some odd political tangent thats a product of its time). Booth still annoyes the FUCK outa me but theres times where I can see why their dynamic could work. They really do act as a divorce couple who still kinda wanna shag at times but know they REALLLY shouldn't open that can of worms again (only without the shagging in the show. pushing the asexual headcannon onto all of these damn characters)
Also I know it makes sense cuss of where they work, but theres something so charming about ALL the characters being writen as smart. Sure they have their own sprouts of knowedlge and random facts they know cuss of a hyperfixation from when they were 11, but no one is just dumb or stupid. Sometimes in crime shows you have the 'good at their job, still kinda fucking stupid' where its like....in a room full of normal people their the smartest, but in a room full of their colleges they are clearly the dumbest by a SHOCKING mile. That doesnt exist within the main team (beyond Booth). Their hirearchy of knowedlge comes from their years of working BUT MAINLY their ability to socilise and I find that very funny because it leads to obvious and understandable hirearchy shifts depending on the situation. It's super cute.
Zack is still my fav character <3 he's so nerdy and stupid and hissy and he reminds me of a wet dog. His dress sense is unfortunatly very relatable.
Okay so im finally watching bones, which is honestly tragic since I love me a crime show.
how did they manage to make sooooo many unlikeable characters???? Like don't get me wrong I'm used to an unlikeable character in my crime show, it happens, characters arn't meant to be liked by everyone. But jesus TWO main characters that just....suck. As people, as characters, as everything. Booth and Brennan seem to be the emotional core of the show but genuinely everyone else is just more intresting to me.
I will say the christmas episode where they all got locked in? Best thing they've done with their characters so far (I'm only just watching season 1. who knows maybe they get better). The deeper dive into her family problems, having it revolve arround christmas so that her life acts as a foil to both the murder AND his own family problems was cute. PLUS introducing his kid??? I didn't realise they could make me feel sympathy for this man. It was also realllly sweet how everyone sorta adjusted their outlooks on each other/ found ways to help each other out when they were maybe dying. It was just a really good episode honestly I wish more were written like it.

....was this to hate ridden? its honestly not a bad show, the actual sets are cool and the skeleton props FEEL spooky idk if they're realistic but they are spooky. Plus the murder writing is intresting and you can defo see how other shows were inspired by this show in A LOT of ways.
I’m not okay i am rewatching Bones and i only now just realized that they foreshadowed Vincent Nigel Murray’s death minutes before they killed him
Brennan: Broadsky is a expert in close-quarter combat
Vincent: Then i assume i will be dead very shortly
Literally three minutes later Vincent is shot by Broadsky and dies!
Do you ever think about how Temperance Brennan grew up being called the r-slur by adult in her life? Mean kids are one thing, but adults she clearly looked up to, desperate to find someone to show her love?

sometimes being in the Bones fandom is strange cause youll go online with a 40 yr old centrist who ai generates images of Brennan meeting Sheldon Cooper and a 17 yr old transfemasc whos on their 18th rewatch just so they could get the tempcamgela vibes this time around and all 3 of you will agree that Wells was the worst squintern in the show and that Vincent deserved better
I really love how Brennan absolutely does NOT fuck around, even from the very beginning. Like they seriously had her beat the shit out of a homeland security agent in the first five minutes of the pilot and shoot a man by the end of the episode… wow 😵💫

thinking about how people only call temperance brennan “temperance” or “tempie” when they’re trying to manipulate her.
like angela, her best friend and emotional confidant never calls her temperance, no matter how personal things get. and she’s always “bones” to booth, even when he’s terrified for her safety. and when hodgins, one of her oldest friends, is desperate for empathy and appealing to her humanity during the grave digger arc, he never stops calling her “brennan”.
and it’s only ever the men who try to manipulate her—her father, jared booth, or dr. stires, the old professor who tried to publicly humiliate her—that try to appeal to the an intimacy that her given name doesn’t hold

she asks booth if he really thinks she'd make a bad candidate because 'donald trump is thinking of running'

The biggest suspension of disbelief in the season 7 bones finale is that Brennen would leave so much evidence if she murdered someone. Dr. Temperance Brennan would absolutely commit the perfect murder if she killed someone. Do not slander Bones name by implying she left so much evidence behind!!!
In the Bones universe can you imagine Brennens Wikipedia page? Her dad was on trial for murder, who mother was murdered, she’s a bestselling author who was buried alive, she works with and now has a relationship with a FBI agent who inspires her bestselling novels plural that got turned into a movie where there was a real dead body on the set when she just so happened to be there right before she was framed for murder and went on the run.
The first sentence of her Wikipedia page during this time must’ve been wild:
“Temperance Brennen is a best selling novelist, forensic anthropologist, person of interest in a criminal investigation, and current fugitive”
