the funny thing about tgcf is that both xl and hc obviously think of themselves as the romanced femme in their ya novel dynamic. xl thinks he's the dainty maiden who gets romanced by the daring charming male lead. hc thinks he's the poor damsel who was saved by the wealthy but kind lord and spends the rest of her life pining after him.
both of them are 800 year old men who love fighting and beating people up. xl is a literal beefcake. they're still living their best femme lead lives.
SYMPHONYYYYYY 🐬🌈✨💖
Please accept this crappy edit.
In honor of my "gege am i ugly" post getting over 10k notes, here's a "san lang am i ugly" version of it. Featuring: how I'm picturing Hua Cheng 90% of the time.
What an unfortunate day to be a broke collage student 🥲
They're so Close yet so far 😞
I feel like there are a lot of misconceptions about what happens to Beefleaf in canon. Most of this misconceptions are due to the deceptive way in which the story is constructed, which has the objective of increasing the perceived terror leading up to the confrontation against Black Water, to maximize it during the very confrontation and, in order to do so, temporarily gives the reader false information about Black Water, that is rectified later in the story, sometimes even after the end of the Black Water arc. Some of these misconceptions are actually encouraged by the author as a mean to create fear in her characters, before being disproved.
Due to the structure of the story, what actually happens in canon may be lost on a first reading, but it becomes more obvious during a second reading, when one can revisit older scenes, knowing He Xuan’s identity and motivations.
In this meta I will examine:
Xie Lian’s deduction
Ming Yi’s Face
Xie Lian’s deduction
Why did He Xuan infiltrate the heavens?
The escape from the Water Master’s palace
Shi Qingxuan’s corruption
He Xuan hurting Shi Qingxuan
Was He Xuan really going to trade Shi Qingxuan’s fate?
The MDZS parallels
He Xuan’s goodness and his fight against tyranny
He Xuan’s diet
He Xuan’s bearing
The “Not your best friend” gag
As this meta’s focus is on misconceptions, Beefleaf’s romatic troping won’t be examined in here, unless relevant to the meta’s scope.
So, let’s get right into it!
Continuar lendo
love it when someone in TGCF is like "oh no, that's Crimson Rain Sought Flower! a highly dangerous supreme calamity who's so powerful he obliterated 33 heavenly officials!!" and xie lian immediately rebuffs them by basically saying: "no, this is san lang, and he's so sweet he cuddled me all night when i asked"
meanwhile, with qi rong is the complete opposite, because someone says "oh no, that's Night Touring Green Latern, one of the four great calamities! known for torturing and cannibalizing his victims!!" and xie lian, without hesitation, simply goes: "no, that's just my cousin qi rong. don't even look at him. he's doing it for attention."
shi wudu: he may seem like your typical selfish, back-stabbing, slut-faced, ho-bag. but in reality he is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT
ling wen: that’s why her hair’s so big...cause it’s full of paperwork secrets
pei ming: one of the dumbest gods you will ever meet
and it’s all narrated by he xuan
has anyone done this one yet
People saying that Hua Cheng apparently has no interests outside of Xie Lian is so wild to me.
He is a sculptor and painter, he rules Ghost City, clearly has fun at the Gambling Den, pretends hes not friends with He Xuan (when they clearly share SOME form of camaraderie for him to LIE to XIE LIAN about it), is very well read (he would have to be, to defeat literature gods) and finally, clearly has fun with aesthetics/visuals, both in his residence and his clothing/powers (he didnt HAVE to go with a butterfly motif, he picked his aesthetic and IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH XIE LIAN).
He is a powerful ghost king who lords over his city and he loves it. Xie Lian also loves it (simp)
You know who didnt have any interests or opinions outside of Xie Lian? Wu Ming. Wu Ming followed him and didnt care about anything but him. And he didnt manage to stop Xie Lian or change his mind, a random guy with a bamboo hat did. In a way? That was a lesson for him. So he goes to Mount Tonglu, and slowly, over the centuries, he becomes his own person. By the time they meet again, he is fully his own individual.
Seriously, just because the guy is madly in love, doesnt mean he doesn't have a life. Dont take that away from him, just for a ridiculous 'hualian's relationship is unhealthy, actually' take.
Edit: thank you @ignite-the-moonlight for pointing out that he collects rare items as well
Wait...if I'm wearing a disguise, and you're wearing a disguise, and you're wearing a disguise, then who's flying the plane??
the yassification of crimson rain sought flower
(TGCF chapter 207) just like newlyweds~
when i first heard about tgcf i thought it would be a cliche romance between like moral xl who sees the good in hc even though hc has done evil things and like it would be like a bad boy/good girl dynamic. but then xl nearly wiped out an entire country out of anger and the worst thing that hc has done has been like. challenging gods to a fair duel x.x
Imagine your 800 years old crush suddenly visiting your ghost city and you need to act cool and mysterious but actually you’re just screaming internally at high volume
Only like ... 60% of them were actually legible lbh
