This version of the story is in the Volsungsaga (or Saga of the Volsungs) and you should read it.
It's got everything: women bitterly exacting revenge for unwanted marriages, a warrior who knows the future and that he's powerless to prevent it, and a god who rears up one bloodline only to cut it off when it's outlived its use.
Also several women burn their husbands' houses down. Of course.
