PONS AEMILIUS - the oldestĀ Roman bridge built in Rome in142 BC
In the background there is PONS FABRICIUS one of the few Roman bridgeĀ still existing in its original state. Has been continuously in use since 62Ā BC (the year afterĀ CiceroĀ wasĀ consul) when, according toĀ Dio Cassius, the bridge was built. It take its name by Lucius Fabricius, the curator of the roads and a member of theĀ gensĀ FabriciaĀ of Rome.
