Parkinson's law states that the amount of time you give a task to take is equivalent to the amount of time that task will take. If something must be done in a year, it’ll be done in a year. If it must be done in six months, then it will. Cyril Parkinson, a British historian, first observed the trend during his time with the British Civil Service. He noted that as bureaucracies expanded, they became more inefficient.

Leo The Artist - barbershop . . . This piece is another product of the same collaboration. Thought it was good enough with the pattern overlaid on it. Really gets at what barbershop and salons mean to people, especially black people. The barber's chair is our version of a psychotherapist reclining chair; the barber is the psychotherapist who most of the time allows us to come to our own conclusions about the things that come up as psychologist are said to do. The stillness that barbershop demand as we wait to get our haircut, and as we sit getting our hair cut, forces the issues of life to the back so we can meditate and reflect - as you can see in the face of the kid in the piece above. The pattern overlaid represents the free thoughts roaming both inside and around everyone in the barbershop. Mind you, all of this came to me when I was working on the piece. It's pretty beautiful if you think about it. Stay up and stay peaceful!
