I love AUs where someone from our modern world is just dropped into a fantasy land, but one aspect I don’t think is explored enough is how would someone from a completely different world speak English? Like imagine you were dropped into Ravka, you wouldn’t know Ravkan and no one there would know English, so you wander into some army camp and start speaking gibberish, they would probably assume you were drunk, honestly you could probably fake being Grisha for a bit if you paid attention in science class, Ik they have guns and light but you could probably mix baking soda and vinegar and a peasant would have an aneurysm
