A three panel comic. Panel one: the owlbear cub from Baldur's Gate 3 sulking on the ground while Jaz, a tiefling druid Tav approaches him. "Hey, bud," she says. "Is everything okay? You bit Scratch." In the bottom corner, a tiny sad Scratch whines. Panel two: "I hate Scratch." The cub curls away as Jaz sits down next to him. She gently admonishes him: "Hey... don't say that." Panel three: The cub continues, still sulking: "Hate Scratch! Hate him and his stupid name!" Jaz, confused: "His name?" The cub, turning further away: "You love him more. You gave him a name."
A three panel comic. Panel one: Jaz, a tiefling druid, scratches the owlbear cub's sides with a rueful smile and says "Aw buddy, I'm sorry. I didn't realize how much this meant to you." Panel two: "I love you, okay?" She pulls the cub in close and kisses his head. "My big, mighty Bite." Panel three: Scratch the dog, best boy in the realms, and the newly named Bite cuddle up together in camp, with their little rain shelter and two bowls bearing their names as the night falls.

They never give you an option to name the cub but in my heart this is Absolute-ly (haha) canon.
