there is an interesting tension to be had when both the malfoy and weasley families have been sorted into their respective hogwarts house for generations upon generations, and we come to find that despite surface-level appearances: draco isn't the most slytherin of slytherins, and ron isn't the most gryffindor of gryffindors
current chapter progress for inspiral lmfaoo
aka awkward drafts of a letter to your estranged brother (who better not conveniently 'forget' your 17th bloody birthday)
ron would be the sibling that's the most sympathetic to percy's conflicts with and eventual leaving of the family imo
so, i figured, to tide over all my adoring fans [blows dramatic kiss to empty theater with 3-4 stragglers] i'd post one of my lil oneshots to ao3!!!
prototype #1993.37 "more-mini recorder thingy" v.3 exp.trial.1
this babey is a Percy Weasley-centric fic, narrated by our shayla, preteen ron, focusing on the relationship (and backstory) between percy and the twins, with a heavy heavy helping of Sibling Angst™!!
since this went over so well last time, lemme add some of this fic's comedic hits below, no spoiler edition!

I should also make this clear that I got some inspiration from a fanfic that is called Helena Potter. But this is still a fanfic idea that I am hoping that could be brought to life or at least written out.
Fanfic Idea
Watching the Harry Potter Movies but Harry goes by Harriet because he will be a girl in this also Cedric will be alive and dating her since 3rd year but then they had a fight and broke up during the Goblet of Fire. But got back together after she had saved him from being killed by Wormtail. While Harriet is jealous that he had taken Cho Chang to the Yule Ball Cedric is even more jealous when he finds out that she was asked out by Viktor Krum. Viktor had seen Harriet crying over Cedric asking Cho out and he wanted Cedric to get a taste of his own medicine and he saw Harriet as a little sister. So during the entire ball instead of paying attention to Cho and dancing with her, he kept glaring at Viktor every time he danced and was talking to Harriet which was basically through the whole night. Cho had started to get jealous of Harriet because even though Cedric and Harriet broke up Cedric still loved her and Cho hated that Harriet had basically every guy’s attention tonight as she was even more gorgeous then ever before. Cedric was steaming as he started to notice that nearly every guy was slobbering over his Harriet. Everyone will be there to watch the movies and finally see how Harriet actually lives. Cedric during the whole thing will be very possessive and protective of his little lioness. Draco, who had been basically pining after Harriet since first year did the same as Cedric but ignored Pansy the whole time. We would also see a very overprotective Sirius and Weasley Family. As Ron would see how bummed out Harriet is over Cedric that he realized that she would never enter this on purpose. So in turn we would have Ron and the rest of the Weasley’s plus Hermione, Sirius, and Remus being very overprotective. And have one Cedric slowly realizing that he made a mistake and would do anything to get his little lioness to forgive him and give him a second chance. While Draco and Cho would be sitting in jealous watching the couple. Cedric will be apart of story since the very beginning and instead of the Golden Trio they will be the Hogwarts Four.
Also a thing I love that authors do is name actors who they envision playing the role in their fanfics and since I can never properly see a female Harry I ask that you provide an actress that you envision as Harriet. Though if you can’t I understand.
I wanted to ad more GIFs but I thought it would be too much so I just put what I felt were the major characters.
(I do not own this artwork) I updated and added this picture because I think this drawing of fem!Harry is cute 😊.

Fred watched with jealousy in his eyes as he saw you jump into the lake. Your beauty and grace had surrounded him for years. You had been friends for years but last year he realised he didn’t want to be friends anymore. He realised you had always been there for him. He realised how your smile was infectious. He realised he was in love with you.
Now he looks at you at what could have been.
He sees the smile on your face.
He sees the arms around your waist.
He hears the giggles coming out of your mouth.
He sees George look at him in pity. He knows, of course he knows, they’re twins for god’s sake. George knew before Fred did.
They didn’t have to exchange words for Fred to understand his brother. He comforted him and it helped, but it wouldn’t block the pain of seeing you with his own brother.
Fred had been the one to introduce you to Charlie. His brother two years older. Charlie had been there for you in a way he hadn’t. he helped you with homework Fred didn’t understand himself. He helped you with boy troubles when Fred didn’t have any experience with romance. Charlie helped you get over your ex from your 3rd year. He put a smile on your face when Fred couldn’t. He made you happy, and you slowly fell for him. And Fred had watched it all from his own two eyes.
His heart broke more and more as you two got together. You started dating at the start of fourth year and Charlie’s sixth year. It was now the summer before your fifth year. And there Fred sat, watching you and his brother. Swimming, and laughing, and kissing. His gut filled with a bad feeling, his heart broken, and his eyes filled with jealousy.

Friends to lovers
Summary: You and Ron have been best friends since first year. Unbeknownst to you, you had started developing feelings for him but he starts dating Lavender Brown. Everything changes one summer night at the burrow.
(Happy ending ofc <3)
Word count: 2k
Requests are open 💌
Sunlight reflected off his scarlet quidditch robes, making his red hair appear redder. You ran up to Ron to congratulate him, and the rest of gryffindor, on their victory.
“Well played weasley.” You smirked as Ron pulled you into a hug.
“Couldn’t have done it without your support from the benches” he joked
Pulling away from him, you noticed a curly dusty blonde haired girl eager to make her way towards Ron.
“Congratulations Won won!” She giggled and pulled Ron into a deep kiss.
What the hell? Who is this freak? Does she congratulate every guy by kissing them? You thought to yourself.
“I’ll see you in the common room later.” She winked at Ron as she walked away.
“Who the hell was that?” You asked
“Oh, that was Lavender. Lavender Brown. We started seeing each-other last month. She’s a bit…. strong spirited…. If thats the right way to put it.” He explained.
“Last month!!?? And you didn’t even have the courtesy to tell me? Only been your best friend for six bloody years and you don’t tell me you’ve got yourself a girlfriend? Piss off Ronald.” You shouted as you walked away.
“Y/n wait-“ You heard Ron call but you didn’t care.
How dare he? You always shared everything with him. Every single detail of your life, and he did the same. Well, up until now. You didn’t understand why it was bothering you so much; the mere thought of Ron and Lavender together made your blood boil. It must have been because he kept you in the dark about it for so long.
“Y/n… are you alright?” Hermione whispered.
You were sitting on the floor of the gryffindor common room, in-front of the fireplace, finishing your History of Magic homework.
“So I’m guessing you heard about my little outburst on the quidditch field this morning?” You asked
“Half of the school heard it” She quipped.
“Wow. Thanks. That made me feel so much better.” You said with a blank expression.
It has been three weeks since you found out about Lavender and Ron. He tried ‘explaining himself’ to you on numerous occasions, but each time you came up with a pathetic excuse to avoid him. He didn’t have to explain who he was dating or why he was dating them to you. That would be weird. Why should he be obligated to consult you about his love life? You’re over reacting, thats all - you tried telling yourself every night. It didn’t bother you, honestly why should it even bother you?
“Y/n! Please stop this madness. It’s been three weeks… I miss my friend.” Ron pleaded. He had you cornered near a wall in the corridors, you couldn’t escape him now.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about Lavender immediately. Honestly… I didn’t see it lasting long anyway , so I didn’t bother telling you. And to be frank, I didn’t think you’d like her… guess I got that part right.” Ron explained as he scratched the back of his neck.
“No. Don’t be sorry. I’m sorry Ron. I’m sorry for acting so childish.” You apologised
Ron pulled you into a tight hug and smiled.
“Soooo… tell me about her. Is she a good kisser?” You teased
“Oh shut it” Ron play punched you in the shoulder.
“What!? Every time i’ve seen you guys together , you’ve been snogging!” You said laughing.
And just like that, everything felt normal again.
Exams had just come to an end, and you couldn’t be happier. Summer at the burrow with the weasley family awaited you. Every summer since your second year at hogwarts, Ron invited you, Hermione and Harry to the burrow to spend a few weeks there. Even when Harry and Hermione failed to go, you never missed the opportunity to spend time with the weasleys. They were the closest thing you had to family. Molly was like the mother you never had and Ginny was like a sister you adored. Ron… Ron was just your Ron. He was your favourite person in the entire world. You were hoping that wouldn’t change since he started dating Lavender.
“Did you tell Mrs. Weasley that all three of us are coming this summer?” You asked Ron. You, Harry , Hermione and Ron were sitting in the same compartment in the train whilst stuffing your faces with sweets from the trolly.
“Oh yea , i’ve told mum. She’s trilled. I even overheard Fred and George planning what tricks to play on us once we get there” Ron said.
“Did you tell her, Ron?” Harry whispered into Ron’s ear.
“Tell me what?” You asked nervously.
“Oh erm… Lavender is going to join us at the burrow this summer.” Ron mumbled stuffing his face with more sweets.
“Ron stop eating for a second. Your mouth is so full; I don’t think I heard you right…. For a second I thought you said Lavender is joining us this summer.” You said.
“Oh you heard him right.” Hermione said as she rolled her eyes.
Was he being serious right now? This was a thing the friend group shared. Why the hell did he have to ruin it by inviting his annoying little girlfriend. And just on cue, Lavender appeared outside the compartment, blowing her breath on the glass as she drew a heart and wrote ‘Lavender + Ron’ in it.
“I think I’m going to be sick” you said.
The days at the burrow passed by excruciatingly slow. You barely spoke to Ron. Lavender was every where. Even Mrs. Weasley seemed to have had enough of her. Fred and George tried to cheer you up on multiple occasions by playing tricks on Ron and Lavender every time you caught them snogging.
“Y/n , don’t be like this. Please. “ Hermione pressed.
“What do you mean? I’m not being like… anything.” You countered.
“ It’s so obvious you hate seeing Ron and Lavender together, in fact it’s obvious you hate seeing Ron with anyone that isn’t you.” Harry added
“I literally have no idea what you’re talking about.” You said as you burst out the living room.
That night, Lavender announced that she will be cooking dinner for everyone, since she wanted to do something special for her ‘Won Won’.
Everyone waited eagerly at the table , wondering what dish Lavender would be serving. You hated to admit it , but the smell coming from the kitchen was mouth watering. Your stomach made a rumbling noise as you glanced at Ron.
He was seated right across you, with Harry beside him. Hermione sat on your left and Ginny on your right. Everyone else were in their usual spots as Lavender finally bought out the food.
“Tada! I present to you , a recipe passed down for generations in my family , Cauliflower Casserole!” Lavender squeaked as she begin serving the dish to everyone.
“Double serving for you , because I know your gonna love it , my Won Won.” Lavender continued.
“Is she mental? Is she absolutely stupid? How has she been dating Ron for three months, and yet she doesn’t even know the fact that he despises cauliflower!?” You whisper shouted to Ginny and Hermione.
“Eat up Won Won.” Lavender hovered over Ron until he put a spoon full of casserole in his mouth.
“Mmm. It’s delicious.” Ron lied, turning a shade of green, as he continued eating.
“Ron you don’t have to-“ you were saying as Hermione cut you off.
“Don’t y/n. It’s not worth it.” She said.
Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their meal, even you, as the food was actually quite delicious. But, Ron barely touched his food which was extremely rare for him.
After dinner, you played a round of wizards chess with mrs. Weasley, Hermione and Ginny, and then went to bed.
You awoke at 2 am, parched and in desperate need of water. As you made your way down to the kitchen, you saw a figure standing above the stove. It was Ron.
“Hey… what are you doing up so late?” You asked.
“Blimey y/n. You scared me.” He jumped.
“Are you making food at this ungodly hour, Ronald Weasley?” You asked.
“Yea… I’m still kinda hungry.”
“Figured. Cauliflower casserole. Pft. Three months and it’s like she knows nothing about you.” you mumbled, mostly to yourself.
“I know you hate her.” Ron said
“Move over.” You ignored him as he handed you the pan. You cracked an egg and begin frying some bacon. Ron sat on the table, his mouth watering at the smell.
You placed the food on a plate and grabbed two forks. Ron practically attacked the food, making you laugh.
“Do you love her?” You asked
“Love!? Love who? Lavender? God no.” He seemed offended you even asked such a question.
“Then why are you with her , Ron?”
“I- Because I can’t be with the one person I want to be with.” He spat
“What are you taking about?” You asked, confused.
“It’s impractical. She’s like my bestest friend in the whole world. It would be nonsensical for me to confess to her. She probably doesn’t even feel the same way.” He explained.
“Are you talking about Hermione?” You asked baffled.
“Merlins sake y/n…. I’m talking about you!” He practically shouted.
“Me?” You said, your voice barely a whisper.
Both of you were standing now. Your heart was racing faster than your brain. Ron wants to be with me? How is that possible. You thought to yourself. He treated you like one of his brothers, playing rough all the time, he never even treated you like a proper girl. You would have never figured he had feelings for you.
“What are you saying, Ron?” You questioned.
“I’m saying- I’m saying that I’m bloody in love with you, y/n! I have been… for a very, very long time.” He said.
You walked closer to him, your faces only a few inches apart.
“You fool, why didn’t you tell me sooner?” You asked as you placed your hand on his cheek.
“I didn’t think you would return my feelings, and quite frankly I didn’t want to ruin our friendship.” He explained.
“Idiot” you murmured as you pulled Ron in for a kiss. He kissed back like it was the only thing he had been wanting to do all summer.
After a minute, you pulled away.
“What are we going to do about Lavender?” You asked
“I’ll sort it out first thing tomorrow. But for now….” Ron pulled you in as you smiled against his chest.
All was well. Ronald weasley was finally yours.

Even though Charlie's Christmas present was already packed and ready, Molly couldn't ignore the fire in her son's eyes while he pleaded for a toy dragon as if it's a true treasure.
She couldn't even imagine how this silly little toy would determine Charlie's entire future.
Happy birthday, Charlie!
Bless. Shame I found this two hours after I did the same thing.

Christmas of 1971 was rather busy for Arthur and Molly as they welcomed their firstborn, William Arthur Weasley, about a month earlier.
Despite exhausting and knowing that little Bill won't be able to appreciate his surroundings, Molly still made sure to decorate the house.
Of course, it was obvious for Arthur that his wife grabbed onto her usual Christmas routine like a lifeline. All the changes in the past year were stressful enough and, of course, it's going to get easier eventually. But for now, he let her enjoy a moment aside from being a mom and made sure to not burst Molly's holiday bubble as long as it was possible with a newborn baby.

Ginny and Fred being cute lil dorks
I believe she joined each and every prank the twins did before they went to Hogwarts. She demanded to be included in the gang or she'll spill all their dirty secrets to mom. The twins were absolutely 100% terrified of little Ginny. She knew everything. Their lives were in her small hands.
Well, actually, most of the time they only let her think she's oh so scary and hold some kind of power over her older brothers. George and Fred love to have her around and adore her witty brain, her humor, her perseverance. She is a perfect partner in crime. Her blackmail has nothing to do with it, though they figured she gains some confidence from this and thought it won't hurt to let her be in charge.
This bond sort of faded after twins spent their first year in Hogwarts and when Ginny went to her first year she found "more mature people to have around". But they built a new, more powerful connection. They often work on WWW products together. Someone has to control those mad scientists, right? Both Fred and George are the best to put anyone into good spirits, support ideas. Fred sucks in comforting, though. She taught their dumb asses how to actually treat someone you like. "No, those pick-up lines weren't any good, Bill definitely pranked you." Ginny translates mom's speeches to Gred and Feorge's language. She's the reason they stopped fighting. They listen to her. Still not mom, no, have to keep rebels reputation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (George's secretly a mommy's boy, although no one needs know about this, especially Fred)
Extention #1
So, first of all, I do NOT believe, that these two dumbasses had no scars from all explosions and experiments. You can disagree and say that they could probably wipe away scars with magic. And I'm not saying you'll be wrong. But think about it, why would they do that if sCaRs lOoK sO CoOL aNd mAnLy? That would be the official reason for the public. The real one? I believe this could be their way to add more differences between them. Also, for some mysterious reasons (spoiler: someone should learn how to stop his uncontrollable brother and also start to say no at least sometimes) George has the worst and most noticeable scars. Bet poor Molly pulled all her hair out.
Earrings? Fred and George would absolutely 100% look up to and imitate Bill in some ways. What're the most obvious "Bill" things? Long hair, the earring with the tooth and scars. You see my point? Parrots.
I'm a big sucker for long hair. I'm also a sucker for George. Yes, yes, I hysterically ship him with Lee, I know. Don't try to find any logic, I don't have any. It's the only reason we have George with long hair. I can't think of a proper one.
And the last thing. I do love the idea of George with the bump on his nose and Fred with a straight nose. Also, I think Fred would have a crooked nose. Because it's broken quite often. Again, for mysterious reasons. Everyone agreed it's one of his things at this point.
I have no idea if I did it right and kept everything in the right places. There's a chance that I messed it up, oops
I kept drawing different faces for George and thought duck it, I need a proper design. I have zero patience and too excited to wait till tomorrow to make it sparkle with some necessary details, so you might expect a kinda similar post later 🙄
Sorry, I have a thing for long hair, so it was called. Also, I once read a fic where George had a mole on his upper lip and I can't stop thinking about it
p.s. Might change every single thing later idk
p.p.s. It's my vision of the twins(for now at least), it's fine if you don't vibe with it
We all know Percy was incredibly ambitious and wanted to work his way through the leadership of the Ministry. I don’t think he would have just upped and quite his job at the Ministry, and I think he would have put all his energy into rebuilding the Ministry after the war. To helping Kingsley in any way he could and righting the wrongs that he and Fudge had helped put into place. And while the allure of power and prestige, to make something of himself, would still be there, grabbing his attention at various time, but I don’t think his heart would have been in it.
I think Percy’s drive to attain glory and prestige would be irrevocably damaged after the war. After he realized all the damage he had personally had contributed to by working in the system without questioning it. All the families he tore apart by assisting Umbridge. The immense amount of pain he caused his own family. He would funnel his ambition and rive into helping people and righting his wrongs, but he would prevent himself from attaining positions of power. A bit like dumbledore. After Fred had died, even though he’d forgiven him right before, Percy just couldn’t figure himself and the goals that had always driven him forwards broke.
He didn’t really plan to join George at WWW. It started a year after George reopened the shop (which took a while after the war, being filled with just too many memories for George). George asked Percy if he would help him with filing the shop’s taxes (yes wizards pay taxes). And while Percy huffed and rolled his eyes when George presented him with a mess of loose receipts and ledger rolls and notes hastily scrawled for orders, he of course helped him.
That’s how it first started. Percy was appalled at the state of the shop’s finances, not that George didn’t have a handle on it, just it was organized chaos and Percy does not do organized chaos. Percy is a strict rule follower and lives by color coded folders. So he spent four days organizing WWW’s finances and filing their taxes. After that he insisted on regular meetings with George to go over the finances. Because “I know you’re just going to ask me to do your taxes next year, this is at least saving me some time later by keeping everything neat now, George.”
So Percy continues to manage the shop’s finances on a regular basis and George is happy to let him. Over time George starts coming to Percy for more than just taxes help and financial advice but asks him his opinions on various business related ideas. Percy is the one George takes with him when he checks out buildings to expand into Hogsmeade, Percy is the one he asks for help organizing customer insight groups, he asks Percy to help him set up employee benefits, or even just his opinion on the new employee uniforms.
This continues for five or so years. George never asks Percy to come on full time but increasingly asks for Percys input and help while Percy gives his time more and more without George even asking. One day, George is surprised to find Percy at the shop during the middle of the day, asking him what he’s doing here. “Oh well this shipment of doxy eggs was coming in after it accidentally got shipped to Bulgaria and after all the trouble I went through to get it here I needed to make sure it was the correct order.”
“Perce, you didn’t have to do that. We have staff they would have figured it out. You didn’t have to leave the Ministry in the middle of the day,” said George.
A nearby employee shouted out “yeah you’re making us look bad and you don’t even work here!!”
“Maybe I should,” Percy mumbled more to himself than anyone else.
“What” George said, seeming rather stunned.
“I don’t know,” whispered Percy not quite making eye contact with George, “I just thought you would have asked by now. You know, asked me to come on full time. But I get it, it was always yours and Fred’s thing”
But George cuts him off from saying anything more with a hearty chuckle and a shake of his head. Percy just stares at him, at a loss for words, not quite sure why George is laughing at him. “Damnit Percy. If I had known.”
“Known what?” Percy asked perplexed.
“Known you had actually wanted to work here! I never offered because I didn’t want to get in the way of your grand plans to rule the universe.”
Percy looked at him, just observed his brother and took him all in. He looked slightly flabbergasted, but then a small, sad smile crept on his face. “No. I... no. My plans for power broke pretty quickly after... well... and the war... and... you know.”
He made eye contact with George and words were passed effortlessly between them, without anything needing to be said aloud. They embraced each other in a way they’d never truly done before; as brothers and as a support system for one another.
“So what do you say? Should we get you an apron now? Or do you need to resign from the ministry before I put you to work” George chuckled to Percy.
And the rest is history. Percy joining the shop allowed George to focus on the stuff he was passionate about: inventing the products and marketing (because he really does have the eye for that). Percy gave feedback and a few ideas of his own every now and again. But really he was there to keep the whole place running smoothly and organized (something he revelled in) and act as George’s sound board, his confidant, and his partner. Something he needed more than all the rest.
I don't have anything finished rn, so here is my favorite piece Crop top of the Weasleys' in progress. Ginny wears Bill's earring!!! What a woman, ah.
So, I had this scene in my head Imagine Griffindor boys goofing around and breaking into the girls' dorms while they're out, stealing their clothes and makeup and sitting there pretty, waiting for judges to come back Now, here's Fred being oh so confident as always and Angie who's constantly questioning her friendship with these dorks. Of course, she adores their childlessness and wishes they'd never grow up, but she'll never admit it because who's gonna keep them disciplined if not that fierce girl? I don't ship Angie with any of the twins. I just don't see it. She and Fred would destroy each other and the whole universe. Let's be honest, two alfas together are too dangerous, right? Maybe Georgelina a bit, they might work out at some point. But I'm more of a Glee shipper. I see her as one of their best friends along with Lee and kind of like "You sound like our mom, Ang"

How are you guys feel if I'll integrate insta posts?
I have this headcanon that Fred has ADHD and at a young age, it was impossible for Molly to make him pose for family photos. Also, I believe he was much more active than George, which annoyed the latest to no end when he wanted to chill and enjoy the moment and his twin only wanted to "FIIIIIIIIGHHHHT POO FACE!!!!". They built a friendship a few years before Hogwarts when George snapped at him for being too much and for the first time he saw his brother so vulnerable and so hurt. They talked for hours about their feelings. Since then Fred knew when to give George space and George knew that Fred's behavior is not in fact about him being insensitive and annoying on purpose but the lack of understanding and support. He tried his best to make life easier for his brother for the rest of his twin's days and after his death created a line of officially allowed at Hogwarts WWW products for kids with ADHD to fidget with during the classes.
just imagine, you and George cuddling in the Hogwarts courtyard watching the sun while exchanging caresses and kisses, and Fred (obviously) joking about how affectionate you are and how much George is in love with you, sometimes Fred even imitates the way George talked about you before you started dating
(sorry for any typos, English is not my native language)
If you like this little idea, I can try to do something longer ;)
Here's the thing.
No, but also yes?
The way Ron is treated by his siblings is very specific. It's not like how they treat Percy where they all get annoyed by how pompous he is. Or the twins where they just roll their eyes and shrug their shoulders because what are you going to do? They're the twins.
Bill and Charlie seem like the most respectful, and my personal headcannon is that Ron is Charlie's favorite brother. Percy just acts the way he always does towards everyone else, the twins, Harry, Ginny, etc... So one could say his behaviour is quite normal. Up until OoTP that is, because we see how he genuinely worries about Ron's future in his letter, even if it is quite condescending and misguided, so I venture to say that the eldest siblings cared for Ron quite a lot.
Ginny and the twins is when things start to get complex. We don't see their treatment towards Ron become super aggressive or even downright bullying until Percy leaves, in his absence the twins find Ron to be their next target, notice how in GoF whenever Percy was not around it was Ron who they teased a lot more.
Then, Ron becomes a prefect, a couple of weeks after Percy, their own brother who was also the most recent prefect in the family, ditched them. Their association with prefects still relates to Percy, and this is not only for the twins and Ginny, but also for Ron himself. Ron is quite clearly scared to become the twins' new favorite punching bag (metaphorically).
And the reason he doesn't fight back is a big reason as to why Ginny acts the way she does. She sees the way the twins treat Ron, which is pretty harshly, and as to not be perceived like Percy, he does nothing to defend himself. Ginny sees that Ron becomes the punchline to every joke and decides to join in.
No matter, how you see it. Ron was in the right to be mad with Ginny in HBP for kissing Dean in a public place: she was in a place where she could've easily been found; she would've been a victim of gossiping, bullying and mockery; a professor could've caught them as well. Ron might've not used the words correctly, but he only tried to do what he thought was best for Ginny. She in turn virgin-shamed him, told him the girl he liked had already snogged the guy he was jealous of, and that he was pathetic. All in the span of a couple of seconds, and in front of his best friend.
Ron himself had been a victim of bullying throughout every single school year, wether it was because of his robes, his financial status, his quidditch skills. He knows how rough other students are, more than any of his siblings probably.
Ginny is very similar to the twins, she is very alike in the way she's assertive and has a mischievous vindictiveness to her (Zacharias Smith, Malfoy, etc...). She thinks it doesn't affect Ron, because they're only jokes, but sometimes those jokes are a bit too mean, and she doesn't care for it. She called Luna, who was her friend, Loony a nickname after her weird antics. She said Ron had a Pygmy Puff tattoo, because it was emasculating.
But she also cared about him, because at the end of the day they were siblings. They grew up together, but she was not the best sibling she could've or should've been.
Is Ginny a bad sibling to Ron?
I saw this discussion today on reddit and I want to know what others think.
This is such an accurate representation of how it feels to have older siblings who do well
whats your opinion on percy weasley? i'd love to see him get fleshed out more in your rewrite!
You know, originally, I didn’t care much for him. But the other day someone asked for my opinions on the Weasleys (check it out here), and a discussion on Percy surged from there.
Now, I think that because Percy was a kid born when things were most intense in the war, there’s got to be a lot of repressed trauma. Like, Molly and Arthur already had Bill and Charlie, so that’s three kids they needed to protect from everything. Three kids who didn’t understand what was happening and why Mom and Dad are always so paranoid and stressed and exhausted. I talk about some of this here.
I think Molly taught her kids to be quiet at all times, especially when hiding, and to be obedient because otherwise bad things can happen. And I think Percy was the most obedient and quiet of the three, and he was often praised for it. But then, when the war ended, he got stuck in the war mindset.
While the world was slowly moving on and mending itself, Percy continued being the perfectly quiet and obedient child who followed the rules down to a T. His older brothers didn’t have time to dwell on the past, they were too busy helping Molly around the house, and the younger ones never had to experience what they did, not really, anyway.
So he gets made fun of when he fusses over the rules, or when he brags about his accomplishments (which I think he does because now he’s not being praised as much as he used to, and is now desperately competing with his siblings for that kind of attention), or when he says that he wants to work in the Ministry.
SO, I think I’m going to have Percy have that big fight with his parents, but I want to also find a way to make them understand that he wasn’t entirely wrong—his execution could’ve been better—but he was also hurting and he was very determined. He wanted to do good, he believed in the Ministry, whom he watched clean the streets after the war.
I think that’s it for now, any more ideas are welcomed :)
EDIT: I also want Percy to end up with Oliver Wood because I’ve been shipping them for so long and they’d just be an awesome couple. PERCIVER FOR LIFE!!
You know, what you said made me think of a lot of devastating stuff.
Just imagine baby Percy wanting to play but his parents are overwhelmed with the war and reject him every time.
In a war, I’m pretty sure that there’s going to be a lot of scary moments: nearby fights, the distant sounds of people screaming, Molly hysterically counting her children before hiding together in a bathroom while Arthur makes sure the DEs are not near.
Percy was quiet because that’s how Molly and Arthur told him to be because of the war. He was the best at being quiet and perfectly obedient, he was always praised for it.
The war ends when he’s five years old and he has to witness his mother breaking down and every now and then because the memories are still haunting her. He’s helpless and anxious because he doesn’t know how to comfort her, this doesn’t seem the type of situation where a bandaid and a kiss would make it better.
Percy never forgot. While Bill and Charlie were thrusted into the substitute parents role, therefore too busy to dwell on the past, Percy was stuck. He watched the world move on without him.
He was no longer needed to be quiet. He no longer needed to be completely obedient. He no longer needed to be strong. But Percy doesn’t know how to not do that.
Now he’s strange.
Percy, the boy who doesn’t come out and play with his brothers.
Percy, the boy who yells at his brothers when they become too noisy for him to read.
Percy, who always tells on his siblings when doing something wrong.
Percy, who decided to work for the Ministry from a young age because he always saw them on the streets trying to clean the aftermath of the war.
Percy Weasley, y’all.
I think Percy was a quite child - I love the older two, but I don't connect with their stories as much - because of the war. And nobody minded. Being quiet meant he could hide, being quiet meant he wasn't a liability. But then the war ended, and people saw him as weird.
Honestly, I agree. Being quiet isn’t a flaw or a liability. However, from what I understand, Percy was already thought of as weird since way before the war. There’s a lot of moments in the books where people mock him (mostly the twins). I think it wasn’t until after the war that people started trying to understand him.
I meant the first Wizarding War! He was born 22 August 1976, and the war ended around 1981, so he'll have been a child back then
Oh shit, you’re right! I completely forgot that he must’ve been born during the first war. In that case, I think you might be onto something🤔

What's your opinion on each of the Weasleys?
Hi! That’s a really great question! I might be adding some headcanons into the mix, hope that’s okay.
Bill Weasley: I had a major crush on him when I was younger, he was just so badass. I still like him, but now I focus on Fleur. Anyway, I picture him as a third-parent because the oldest kids (especially in big families like his) are always plunged into the responsibilities of caring for the younger ones when the parents are unavailable for any reason.
Charlie Weasley: He’s asexual, you can’t tell me otherwise. I also had a Charlie phase when I first read about him, mostly because of his dragons. I think he was also forced into the responsibility of being yet another parent, but perhaps not as much as Bill. I also think he intentionally decided to be far from his family, not because he doesn’t love them or anything, but perhaps because home got overwhelming.
Percy Weasley: There’s a lot of controversy here. I don’t think about him much, but I relate to him in some ways. I think he was feeling forgotten. In a big family, the kids are constantly fighting for the spotlight, for the love and praise of their parents. But then, when you add Harry to the mix, it just becomes impossible to get your parents to listen for a minute. I think he got lost in his search for validation, though in no way do I think he’s way of handling it was correct.
Fred Weasley: Everyone says that he’s the harsher twin, that he’s the leader, and honestly, I see it. I do think he was extremely sensitive, despite the way he behaves in public. Like you insult something he’s already self-conscious about and he’ll cut you down with words, but he’ll also sulk about it for the rest of the day.
George Weasley: He’s my favorite. Solely because of the immense post-war potential now that he only has one ear. I feel like people should realize that this is the perfect opportunity to introduce the Deaf community into the wizarding world. (Am I self-portraying here? Yes, yes I am). George Weasley talking in sign language? Sign me up!
Ron Weasley: I don’t understand why so many people dislike him. He was an amazing friend to Harry, he was brave, he was loyal, he was just awesome. I think a lot of people saw him get jealous a few times and clung to it. He’s one of the youngest kids in his family, the pressure is insane especially because of all the accomplishments each of his siblings have. Cut him some damn slack.
Ginny Weasley: The movies destroyed her. She was incredibly badass throughout the entire series and I loved her. One thing I will complain about is the way she treated Fleur for no reason. Like, sweetie, your internalized misogyny is showing. Other than that, loved her. Also I have this headcanons where she shaves her hair off after the war, and Molly completely flips because her daughter had such pretty hair.
Molly Weasley: She was, by no means, a perfect mother. There’s a lot of things I really didn’t like about her (like the way she never bothered to differentiate her twins), but I never doubted her love and devotion to her kids. Plus she was such an angel when it came to Harry, she was just what the poor guy needed.
Arthur Weasley: Please don’t kill me, but I’m very neutral about him. He’s a good father, of course, but I personally don’t feel any kind of attachment to the man, I don’t know why.
I think I’ve got all the Weasleys, whew! Thank you, Anon, for the question. It was fun to answer 💜
