Everyone seems to be giving the guy leaning against the counter in the kitchen a wide berth, both members and guests staggering drunkenly into the kitchen only to clear their throats at the sight of him and quickly shuffle past. 

He’s not tall—not compared to the twins standing next to him—but there’s a different sort of aura surrounding him. Dressed in a plain white t-shirt and tight jeans, he still stands out, observing the party’s attendees with a surveying gaze. He’s composed, much less chaotic than the quarreling bunch around him, with his back ramrod straight, arms folded. He’s handsome too, all serious brown eyes, dark eyebrows, and gray hair tipped with black.

The loud, bickering twins soon exit the doorway to rejoin everyone in the next room, shoving each other as they leave. He doesn’t follow.

No one seems to be making any effort to engage with him and you wonder why. He looks decent enough, not like the typical fuckboy at these things, though perhaps that’s the problem. Something twinges in your chest sympathetically.

It’s not fun being an outsider. 

It’s not fun being alone at parties.
