nien crossed her arms over her chest while waiting for xinyu’s response. 

xinyu opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. she just looked up at her best friend with teary eyes and nodded.  

nien sighed and wrapped her arms around xinyu, pulling the latter's head to her chest. 

“xinyu…” 

xinyu sobbed into nien’s shoulder, her hands balling the latter’s jacket into her fists. 

“i love her so much.”

nien held xinyu tightly, letting the girl's tears stain her jacket. “i know, i know.” she whispered in her ear, gently running her fingers through her charcoal locks. 

xinyu kept crying and it seemed like she wasn’t going to stop any time soon. 

unbeknownst to xinyu, y/n was standing right outside the door, unintentionally listening to nien comfort xinyu by whispering sweet nothings into her ear. 

y/n didn’t realize that tears had begun to fall down her cheeks until the lump in her throat had started to become unbearable. she let out a shaky breath and began to walk away quietly, the tears furiously streaming down her face.

she quietly mumbled, “i love you, too…”
