love this casting !! Always thought Briane Tju would be the perfect cinder but im liking alexa loo as well! 

I did a The Lunar Chronicles fancast

Here's part 1 with Cinder, Kai, Scarlet and Wolf!

Cinder (age 16):

She's supposed to be mixed, so I picked:

Olivia Rodrigo (2003. American. White/pacific islander: filipina)

Alexa Loo (2003. Canadian. White/east asian: chinese)

Kai (age 18):

Cha Eunwoo (1997. Korean. Note: not fluent in English)

Xiao Dejun (1999. Chinese. Note: semi-fluent in English. Tiny note: as a fan of him I think he would really like to act in something YA-like where he gets to play a prince)

They are both mostly singers/dancers but it's what I could find

Scarlet (age 18):

Kyra Leroux (2001/2002?. Canadian. Note: fluent in French)

Francesca Capaldi (2004. American)

Wolf (age 23):

Youssef Sawmah (1997. Lebanese/egyptian. Note: not an actor but a model)

Faris Al Bahri (age unknown but most likely 20-25. Lebanese).

I wanted to try and make an updated 2021 version that was as age-accurate and ethnicity-accurate as possible, so those two were my main criteria. So if they look a little too young it's because yeah the characters are pretty young in the books.

After that I considered acting experience, fluency in english (bc I imagine if this were to really happen it would be a Hollywood production ya know) and then physical appearance matching the canon description.

I put two options for each character, one usually a little older than the other so I basically ended up making two full(?) fancasts, for most of them the younger actor is more age-accurate.

This was very hard oh my god I spent like 3 weeks researching like it was homework for absolutely no reason

Shoutout to everyone on tumblr and tiktok that has ever made a fancast because I probably looked through ALL of them (special shoutout to tiktok user @/sista.krista, she started making a good one a while ago but unfortunately only did a few characters)

Also note: I didn't consider the "book trailers" existing on youtube bc I don't really like them lol

Also I tried to avoid actors who were problematic but I'm not super sure I did well on that, you can always inform me! I'd be grateful

Agree on the case of Vi, thats my GOAT and she was done hella dirty in s2.

Somewhat disagree on the take with Cait. I still like her character but i understand why many dont. Her src was never about becoming a dictator- it was about making a hard, “lesser evil” typa choice in the face of no better options (talkinh sb gassing the undercity rn). BUT what she did was still a terrible abuse of power, and by the end of the show, shes still at a place where shes justifying her actions. Im añl for complex characters, but they need to receive complex consequences. The narrative does not properly punish cait for what she did like it seems tp punish other characters , leaving her gray morality feeling unearned.

Mylo got too much hate over nothing, vi got so much hate over nothing, caitlyn got so much hate over nothing, and those are just some off the top of my head

I am so sad at the sheer lack of media literacy in this fandom.

mylo was a teen orphan who was struggling

vi watched everyone die and it’s easy to blame when your in pain. She didn’t take jinx away from a loving father, it was an abusive situation.

caitlyn was manipulated constantly and giving every hurdle and piece of propaganda that Ambessa gave her.

these are just to name a few, so many characters are hated for one aspect of their complex characters and it’s simply sad.
