eating consistently again
if sinners (2025) taught me anything, it's that it IS actually always about race.
you can be oppressed, and still promote and maintain the very same systems of oppression onto other marginalized people. being oppressed in one dimension doesn't allow you to be exempt from oppressing in other dimensions. the "villain" of the movie, remmick, being from the time period of the english colonization of ireland, all the while wanting to take a piece of sammie's own culture from him, use him for it. and this plot point coming after remmick witnesses the significance of sammie's playing within his culture, for his ancestors and how it would shape Black culture in the future.
even in today's society, ive noticed that people treat Black people like a commodity. our worth is only as much as other people decide it to be, and that's usually dependent on how much the oppressor can take from us. for example, the controversy of"internet slang" and how it is blatantly just AAVE with a bad disguise on
do you listen to Black musicians? do you watch Black movies? do you engage with Black creators? do you defend the racist tendencies you notice in your friends, in your family, or do you stay silent? do you listen when Black people tell you you've said or done something racist? do you actually care about not being racist, or do you just not want to look like you're racist?
i just think people have a very specific take on what racism is, and that if they're not committing KKK-levels of violence on people, then they're not racist. or if you've experienced oppression in one form, you cannot possibly be engaging with oppression in another form. but the ways in which we interact with other people and the world will always be through the lens of race, because that is simply what it means for oppression to be systemic, especially in the US and our current political climate
anyway 10/10 movie. highly recommend
hobbies are such a great way to spend your time rather than being on technology all the time. It's great to have a skill, as skills can help you make friends, and can also open up new job opportunities!! here are some ideas, some are easy and simple and others are a little more advanced, there's (hopefully) something for everyone !!

holding eye contact when speaking to someone. takes some practice but so so worth it <3
don't be shy about your niche interests!! even if people don't fully get it, it makes you interesting!!
remember people's names!!
accept compliments, don't go "oh noo you're too kind I'm so ugly I look awful blah blah blah" when people say something nice to you.
signature pen. Don't question it. every cool girl has a signature pen.
always look out for others, make sure no one feels left out when you hang out with a group, check up on your friends, etc etc
listen closely and think before you speak, that way you won't stumble over your words and appear more collected and calm! :)
"please" and "thank you" ALWAYS.
you don't have to be perfect at something to have fun. I'm terrible at golf (a danger to myself and others) but people don't mind and think it is cute and fun... a win-win for me lmao
dressing up? normal to you. Don't save your cute outfits for "special" days; every day is special and you deserve to look gorgeous. <3
Oh and sit up straight ;)
As always, please feel free to share your own suggestions and tips in the comments! <3

Among the other things that seem to pop out of nowhere, I hear that Harris is apparently "very pro-cop" as a reason why we shouldn't vote for her. I would like some clarification about that and also maybe reasons why we should be voting for her, just for the naysayers.
The Kamala cop thing comes from her jobs as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General, and the fact that Kamala and Cop have a kind of ring to them.
the fact that Harris had worked on enforcing the law was used against her in the height of "Defund the Police" but ultimately was pretty unfair, just quickly I found an article from a public defender about Harris progressive record to be short as both DA and AG she fought to scale back incarceration, she refused to seek the death penalty, she wouldn't prosecute marijuana possession cases (back in 2004), as DA along with then Mayor of San Fran Gavin Newsom she took part in the city's short lived gay marriage moment in 2004
here she is in 2004 marrying a nice Lesbian couple, over 10 years before gay marriage would be legal nation wide and 8 years before President Obama announced her supported it.
Harris put a particular stress on prosecuting sex criminals, rapists and human traffickers, and well
"She Prosecuted Sex Predators, He is One"
thats the answer, every time.
finished society of the snow and it was VERY good, like, so genuinely moving and harrowing and touching and so well acted. i am a little confused by the decision NOT to bring up the comparison of eating the dead for survival with the catholic act of communion, ie. the literal imbibing of the body and blood of christ. in real life this was brought up by the survivors, and it was one of the arguments that actually convinced some of the others that it was ok, that they wouldn't be sent to hell, etc. it's also an argument that as a former catholic has always made me understand the survivors actions, in a way? not sure if that makes sense entirely, but i just think it's something that's v humanizing in their debates about this choice—which the movie makes clear was very much a last resort. the survivors are eating shoelaces, they're eating cigarettes, they're eating anything but the obvious because they're just PRAYING they'll be rescued before they have to make that decision. the movie is full of catholic imagery and catholic faith and prayers, so it just seemed odd to not include that? it doesn't in any way lessen my praise of the movie, i'd just be very curious to talk to the screenwriter about this choice.
