I think my favorite thing about The Old Guard is that, as weird as it sounds, all the immortals have human limits. Like, yeah, they can’t die and they heal hella fast, but the writers didn’t inexplicably translate that into them having superhuman speed or strength or agility like I’ve seen in many other superhero media.

I Think My Favorite Thing About The Old Guard Is That, As Weird As It Sounds, All The Immortals Have

They get tired. I’ve honestly never seen so much sleeping in an action movie.

I Think My Favorite Thing About The Old Guard Is That, As Weird As It Sounds, All The Immortals Have

And they can be restrained with zip ties and buckles and held down by normal-ass dudes and get the shit beat out of them because of course they can.

I Think My Favorite Thing About The Old Guard Is That, As Weird As It Sounds, All The Immortals Have

When they’re injured, they act like it. Even if its just for a few seconds. They moan and groan and limp and wince and never try to pull any of that dumb macho “I’m used to it” bullshit. Pain fucking hurts no matter how many times you experience it and this movie expresses that beautifully. Immortal doesn’t mean invincible.

guys can we just sit back and really take in the fact that lockwood & co was so good as a show, that everywhere we look, there are new people in the fandom actively going out and purchasing the books to read them? including myself, who didn't know of the books until the show released because i live under a literary rock.

but like, the show was good enough and compelling enough that it drew us all in and we wanted more, and we have it. we have the books. we can read them. and we want to. can we bask in that? can we appreciate this? this amazing. this so cool. idk i just find this so neat, you know? there's plenty of media that releases, based off books, and people don't go out and read the source material. but... it feels different with this one. and i love that.

NEW THINKING CLOTH CONTENT

NEW THINKING CLOTH CONTENT
NEW THINKING CLOTH CONTENT
NEW THINKING CLOTH CONTENT
NEW THINKING CLOTH CONTENT

GUYS we got new thinking cloth content from joe cornish's instagram

some highlights:

"George's biscuits, DO NOT TOUCH. GET YOUR OWN LOCKWOOD"

"CEO of cooking" - George

the three exclamation marks after "rumour he was eaten by rats!!!"

"Probably CAT again" in reference to Mrs. Wick's house (it's from the books it's the thing from the books!!!)

Lucy calling lockwood a pedant after he fixes her grammar

"Mustard is the fool's condiment" - Lockwood

Lockwood being angsty and quoting FRANKENSTEIN god i love him

LOCKWOOD QUOTING EMILY DICKINSON "Forever is composed of nows" GOD I LOVE HIM

"George stop being so annoying" - Lucy

"TEA EMERGENCY, we're out of Pitkins! Can you get some from Arif's later? :D" (yes the :D is actually on the cloth)

THE LITTLE DRAWING OF THE TRIO DONE BY ONE OF THEM, IDK WHO BUT IT'S THE CUTEST FUCKING THING IVE EVER SEEN (first image, lefthand side)

I don't know I correctly interpreted who said all of these, but I'm pretty sure blue pen is Lockwood, messy scrawl is George, and slightly neater scrawl is Lucy

Enjoy :)

Currently obsessed with Lockwood and Co. and after finishing the show I am now reading the series. I cannot recommend it enough, it was just the show I didn’t know that I needed right now.

While I’m hyper-fixating, I have some thoughts about fan engagement and a Netflix renewal. I noticed that even though there seems to be an influx of new fans, I don’t see the engagement on YouTube with reactors as much as I usually do with new Netflix shows.

I was wondering if there was any way to promote this? (Especially since Netflix did such a terrible job of it)

Reactors engage with a large audience and might be able to draw more fans with the hope of a Netflix renewal (I can’t help but be optimistic even though my heart is constantly broken by them).

Just thinking out loud! I know that there are other ways to get the viewership up but I’m thinking thoughts and wanted to put them somewhere.

The best night scenes I’ve watched

I've seen a lot of praise for the Netflix Lockwood and co. adaptation. I haven't read the books, enjoyed the show. Lots of people already said a lot of positive things about this series concerning plot, characters, and so on that I largely agree with

You know what hasn't really been talked about?

How BRIGHT and WELL LIT everything is. Like, this show mostly happens at night, with characters running around with torches to see anything, because their job has to be done during the night.

But I can still SEE EVERYTHING.

I noticed that in the graveyard scenes especially. The sky is pitch black, we know it's the middle of the night. But the grass in green and I can SEE IT.

Love them for not going down the path of GOT, DC, and so many more. Of saying "well, it's the middle of the night, so nobody can see anything, and neither can the audience".

Instead they went "we told our audience it's the middle of the night, we're showing it to them, but we're also giving them the opportunity to see what actually happens on screen".

Amazing.

ohhhh everyone at portland row has the same amount of hatred for themselves and they love each other so much and they would happily die if it means the other two would live and they each hate themselves so much but they refuse to watch the others fall into that state of casual suicide/ spiral of self-deprication and they each pull the other up from the void constantly because they are each other home and they all love each other so much and i'm going to c r y thinking about them. they're child soldiers hating themselves for actions they have no control over but the others look at them and say "on purpose!!! i am going to love you on purpose!!!!" they live in a society who doesn't care if they live or die, so they've made one for themselves in portland row where they take tea before every session and the others come running when something bad happens to the others because the care and they love so passionately and so wholly and so consistently and when george and lucy thought they were going to die, the first thing that they thought to do was apologize to each other. and it doesn't matter if lucy and lockwood do love each other because that's not what portland row was built on. when lockwood was a kid, it was built on his parents love (for their work and for their children), and it was built on his sister's love. and now lockwood is the last of his name but not really because, isn't everyone in portland row a lockwood, and a karim, and a carlyle? it doesn't matter what sort of love fills portland row, as long as it's true and honest and whole. love is.

I really love Lockwood & Co's relationship with food. I love how when things get too stressful, they eat something sweet together and take a beat. I love how they pass around chocolate too keep up their energy. I love how they retreat to make tea and how Lucy even says it "stops the world from falling in on you." I love how Holly the health nut comes to see the value in sweets and joins in and even starts to bake. I love how snacks and foods usually portrayed as unhealthy are depicted as actually fortifying and encouraging and something to bring people together in dark times <3

ooh what's lockwood and co about should i watch it?

WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ASK THIS HERE WE FUCKIN GO BROS

So Lockwood & Co is a netflix series based on a book series of the same name. Essentially it's about ghosts and ghost hunters, but with a twist: It's set in our time, but not our time as we know it.

Basically, around the 1970s, ghosts just like. Appeared. For no reason we've been able to figure out. People would die, and their malevolent ghost would come back, especially if they died in a particularly traumatic way. They called this The Problem. The thing about these ghosts, is that if they touch you, you die, and if you make eye contact with one for too long, you become Ghost-Locked, which basically send you into a coma. We're not sure what Ghost-Locked victims see in this coma but they always look horrified so we can assume it's not great. There seem to be 3 types of ghosts: Type Ones are what you normally picture for a ghost, Type Twos can make illusions and are more powerful, and Type Threes are incredibly rare and they can talk and communicate with certain people.

Then there are the ghost hunters. Now ghost hunters are always children, usually teens, because as you grow older you lose your Talent, your ability to sense ghosts/death. There are 3 types of Talents: Seeing, Hearing, Touching.

Another thing about this world is that there's no Internet. You can see in the theme song piles of old broken computers, and I'm not sure it's explained yet WHY the internet was never invented, but we assume it's because of The Problem somehow. But this means that the newspaper and news on tv is mainly how information gets around, and any research done has to come from a library and books.

So basically in this world there are companies that pay teens to hunt for ghosts and get rid of them. The companies are usually run by adults though, so it's fraught with awful shit, they often treat these kids like they're just tools and not like they're actual people. Often the kids don't actually get paid themselves, because their parents can control where their money gets paid to, so parents will send of their kids to ghost war and rake in the money safe at home. Capitalism god ahold of The Problem and figured out how to make hella money of of it, so a lot of these companies that are supposed to help people are actually super corrupt and awful to their employees.

Unless of course, you're Lockwood & Co

Ooh What's Lockwood And Co About Should I Watch It?

These dorks look at em

50 years after the start of The Problem, Anthony Lockwood, the guy on the right, is an orphaned teenager who decided he wanted to start his own ghost hunting company, and the "Co" part of the name includes the two on the left, George Karim and Lucy Carlyle. They run their own 3 person company free from exploitation from adults, which other companies (run by adults) really really hate. Lockwood has a Seeing Talent, Lucy has a Hearing Talent, and George has a Touching Talent.

Basically, these 3 kids are hired for a job getting rid of a ghost, only they find out that this ghost is one of a woman who was murdered, and not of a guy who fell down the stairs like they thought. They look deeper and deeper into this murder mystery and keep uncovering shit that other ghost companies do NOT want them to be uncovering. Things that go beyond exploitation of kids, more murders, weird artifacts, things that might even explain the origins of The Problem itself. So Lockwood & Co decide they want to figure it all out, or die trying.

This show is heartwarming, it's funny, its mysterious, it's got ALL THE FOUND FAMILY VIBES and I think it's a real hidden gem in the piles of TV shows on Netflix. It's been in the top 10 shows on netflix for a bit, but I've never really heard anyone talk about it, I just stumbled upon it when looking for something to watch one day. All in all, yes, you should definitely watch it please please please do it, I swear to god of Netflix cancels this show I'm going to riot

it's probably not healthy how often i imagine portland row years into the future, after the trio's talents have faded, where they no longer hunt ghosts together but they find other ways to pay the bills and never move out because they just love the little home they've made here, and lucy and lockwood are an actual couple and george simply tolerates it because he loves them individually so much and can't imagine life away from either of them, which is good because lucy and lockwood wouldn't have it any other way

i don't know if this is compatible with book canon in the long run, but thinking about it just. soothes my soul. it is everything i want for them

If you like Lockwood & co, want to see a second season of Lockwood & co, don’t wait weeks to watch it when it’s the biggest genre for getting the axe sooner than you would expect.

Drop it in your background, run while you’re out of the house and start it up again when you get back and put a notepad over it. Watch it tonight, and don’t dole it out like treats. Netflix needs completion not just hours which is depressing because I sure as hell don’t like binging shows anymore than the rest of the country.

We might look okay the way we’re going but I’ve seen shows cancelled in less than a week of it airing.

Love her!!

A funny thing about the Greta Thunberg and Andrew Tate is the level of effort each put in. Greta probably spent less than a minute thinking up then writing that post whilst Andrew clearly spent hours on his video, getting his big cigars, putting on his silk robe and ordering a pizza all to prove how he, a 36 year old adult, was unfazed and totally not owned by a 19 year old. And it got him arrested.

This’ll go down in internet history, Greta ruined a sex trafficker life with a tweet.

Well that hurts

the lady at the grab-n-go actually missed having Vance there to play pinball. she missed how she would have to call the police every other day because Vance had fought someone. she missed hearing the swearing shed hear when he wouldn't beat his high score. once Vance went missing she put a 'out of order' sign on the pinball machine so no one would play it or beat the high score cus the machine was reserved for Vance and Vance only. she never got the machine changed as she would feel like it was disrespectful to Vance and wanted to keep some sort of memorabilia for everyone.
