tldr he outlined how the present necro/cav dynamic (eg. how cav is subservient to their necro and romantic relationships between the two parties is taboo) is a result of johns implicit misogyny he projected onto earth/alecto; how in this sans-misogyny world queerness/homophobia still exists in necro/cav ships

I’ve been thinking about John’s choice of Barbie-form Alecto in the conext of ecofeminism.
The idea that environmentalism and feminism are intrinsically linked and we cannot save the Earth without first disbanding the patriarchy.
Man dominates the Earth and its resources, because they have dubbed it as female, and that’s what you do to women. It’s your God-given right.
Gaia, Mother Nature, Prithvi, Terra.
Notice how matriarchal societies, like North American First Nations (from the West Coast i am most familial with Musqueam), value and respect the Earth. Many of their creation stories centre nature and animals, featuring them as something humans can learn from and follow.
Patriarchal and colonial societies like England dominate both their women and the Earth. Their God puts man (male, white) above everything else; so is his right to own everything.
In a misogynistic society it is almost impossible to treat the Earth with respect, because how can you value Mother Nature when women are a resource to be used?
John is against trillionaires. He’s a scientist. He recognizes that the rich have abused and destroyed the planet, harming the poor. He cares about the Earth and wants to let it heal. He loves Alecto, in his own way.
But still, he uses her. He locks the Earth’s soul in a Barbie doll and uses her power to consume all the other planets in the solar system, murder every person in sight and make himself God.
He’s passionate about climate change because he recognizes the abuse the wealthy enact on the world for their own benefit as what they have been doing to him—the common people, the indigenous people. He’s mad (rightfully) at the injustice against him, but he’s not trying to save the Earth because he respects it, but because he wants to save the people he resonates with.
He doesn’t want to remove the boot, he wants to become it. He shows this by recreating catholicism in the Nine Houses. He’s Maori, that’s not his indigenous religion. It is the religion of God-given domination. That’s what he wants.
He was never going to save the Earth, he just wanted to be the one to imprison it. TM has shown us this through his objectification and feminization of Alecto.

Imagine you’re some little evil woman sitting in Hades’ throne room when Orpheus walks in to make a deal to get Eurydice back, and Hades is like “yeah ok, just don’t look back otherwise she has to stay here” then walks out of the room. Almost immediately after hearing the conditions, Orpheus breaks his own neck so that it is physically impossible for him to turn it, and then demands that you gouge out his eyes for good measure. Eurydice then gets really upset because she’s convinced this is a sign that Orpheus hates her and never wants to see her again, and Orpheus is completely convinced that this was a normal and logical thing to do.
You are literally the only person in the universe who recognizes this as an act of love. They both then insult you to your face for thinking this is anything other than very normal (Orpheus), or petty hatred (Eurydice).

sorry for responding about your post like a week later but it’s also funny that we as a fandom also just continue to draw Ianthe in the tower prince uniform too - like she was only wearing that in babs body! at the end of Nona she wears pants for the first time onscreen in the form of leather breeches and a parchment colored shirt. she’s only matching Kiriona in so far as carrying a rapier and twin military boots (which Nona remarks on)

My take on the Marauders
I'm a Marauders era fan. MY take on what it should be
Sirius Black- is the tallest (Well over 6 foot), maybe one or two tattoos, black hair above his shoulders, doesn't simp over Remus and can easily do anything without him, one of the smartest in the school, hell of a dark humor, dark looks, VERY popular, has many flaws, but is still the best, prefers James over anyone, one of the hottest in the school, reckless
James Potter- not as tall as over 6 foot, like 5,10 or 5,11 (Like Harry), one of the smartest in the school, popular, not constantly asking Lily out or assaulting her
Remus Lupin- quiet, coward, tries to keep to himself, good at quidditch, but doesn't play, isn't the school's Casanova, not the hottest guy, a bit below average or such, not over 6 foot, not the smartest in the school (Like average or just above), doesn't swear like a sailor, doesn't have anger issues, isn't an asshole, not a tattoo type of guy
Peter Pettigrew- most likely more popular than Remus, is included, not hated by his friends, not a bitch to his friends, doesn't act like his adult self
Lily Evans- isn't Hermione 2.0, she does swear occasionally, is able to beat someone's ass, rightfully hates Snape and the other Slytherins or blood supremacists, strong, smart (Not as much as James and Sirius though
Regulus Black- not a twink, isn't a crybaby who constantly cries about Sirius (They probably threaten each other and use death threats until Pandora and James are like 'Oi, wtf'), tall, not as much as Sirius, but probably James' height and maybe taller
Walburga Black- doesn't use unforgivable curses on her kids, doesn't physically abuse them. I hope you guys know that emotion abuse exists. DOES spoil her kids, puts expectations on them, but does praise them about being the Black heir, she's the reason they're so bloody hot
The others aren't so bad (But they still have bad characterization)
The Slytherins are not softies. It was the 70's, LGBT wasn't s respected, though there could be a few gay kisses and other stuff. They don't have so many tattoos that it covers their whole body, there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that there's pure bloods and they're still in Hogwarts. Sirius is TALL. He has dark humor, is capable of doing stuff himself, did NOT regret the prank.
The Prank- Sirius openly said (And to Remus) that Snape got what was coming to him for the prank, I bet there wasn't a whole angst thing where they ignored Sirius. James would NEVER do that. Remus was a coward; he probably forgave Sirius very easily (Though he couldn't trust him), they probably laughed about it in the dorms.
Wolfstar- It's one of the biggest ships. I don't ship it or see the appeal. Though I'm not going to hate or tell anyone to stop, but there's so much evidence that Remus and Sirius were toxic to each other (I'm going to say it all in a different post). Sirius and Remus can live without each other perfectly fine. It was James that Sirius couldn't live without. Though you guys can ship whatever you want (But please no pro-ships), but also. ATYD is NOT canon. The writing is brilliant, it must've taken a god long time, it's great. BUT. The characterization is completely off, the girls are barely there, even Snape is wrong (Still hate his guts though).
Also, I know SOME fans are going to come to my house with pitch forks. THOSE FANS, you can come and suck my nonexistent DIC- (I'm a woman). ALSO, I'm not homophobic for saying stuff about gay not being as active in the marauder's era, there were probably SOME, but I'm lesbian, so I can't be homophobic. And to THOSE fans, I know it's not real, but I don't have a life, and I like being a part of the marauder's era, but it's the characterization
Also, everyone says "Canon? What's canon", but the only reason the marauders era exists is because of canon. It's like me making Sirius a blonde, and I go "Canon? Never heard of her"
"Sirius loved James the most and got jealous when James talked to another" I say into the microphone of a disgusted crowd.
The crowd boos and I sigh, walking off the stage with my shoulders slumped, preparing my will of leaving all my letters that say, "James was the one Sirius truly loved the most" to my cat named "Prongs". Suddenly, some bodyguard aurors come in, grabbing my arms, taking me somewhere. "This one is definitely the girl, time to take her to the white room with rats". My eyes widened in realisation. The- the room with rats. I screamed, high pitched and deafening, "Please, I-I beg, I have a wi-"
"She's right."
I look up, startled, I see a tall, beyond handsome man in perfectly tailored Gryffindor robes. Sirius Black. Black stood there, smirking like the smug git he was.
The crowd gasped as Sirius Orion bloody Black stood there, confirming the once believed to be impossible. The aurors let my arms go, confusion bestowed upon their faces.
I crawl on my knees at Sirius' feet like he was some type of Greek god, assuming this is what Sirius would do to the James both Sirius and I have mentioned before.
"Th-thank you, I can now peacefully return home to my wife and cats at home". The crowd gasped. I looked around with my tear-stricken face as the bodyguard aurors from before looked horrified like I just announced I was the next survivor of the killing curse. They looked in their notes, "Thi- this can't be true! It just can't be".
My confusion deepened as they pulled out new papers, "In her reports, it says she doesn't ship Wolfstar. Yet here she says she has a wife and cats at home, and she's a woman". I looked around, the crowed murmuring in confusion at my lesbianism.
"How's that possible?"
"A non-homophobic- no, a lesbian- saying they don't ship Wolfstar?
"She's bluffing"
"Perhaps we've all just been wrong this whole time and we've just never see-"
"Oh, silence, don't talk with that nonsense"
Some noises upon the stage brought my attention along with the crowds. Everyone saw that the smug prat Sirius Black had dragged the James Potter himself, wearing Sirius' leather jacket, holding him tightly, saying he'd let everyone die if it meant James would be safe. I swore I saw a dust of pink across the aloof Black's cheeks.
The bodyguards dropped the notes, their hands trembling.
The crowd all had different levels of astonishment, and I swear I saw someone faint. Beaming, I confidently say into the fallen microphone.
"SIRIUS LOVED JAMES THE MOST AND GOT JEALOUS WHEN JAMES TALKED TO ANOTHER"
