hate to bombard your inbox but like so many people are in denial about scott. I went to the dead by daylight subreddit and boy if you bring up scott's views people will shout you down man. like i didnt but some people were raising points that they were disappointed at the collab because DBD is a game loved by queer people as well. Many replies were either bending over backwards to explain why its fine to buy the dlc or saying directly that they only care about their own enjoyment
at least the fuckheads who admit they dont care are being honest to everyone. people who continually financially support fnaf, who know where their money is going, are at least a little hypocritical and at most class traitors and its embarrassing.
There is a poen called First They Came by Martin Niemöller that talks about people ignoring issues until it affects them directly, the fnaf fandom is just a microcosmos of this mentally but is worth pointing out, let scott do what he pleases with his money but do not think he will be your friend or supporter when the politics you help founding come back to bite your ass.
I find it funny how everytime people criticize the FNAF movie a random fan comes in and say something along the line of "Guys I know the movie was bad but I am sure in the sequel Scott will fix this-" GIRLYPOP THAT'S THE PROBLEM!!!!
.......Guys, have we seriously just. Forgotten what Scott did.
What the fuck. What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. Was there some grovelling I missed or something???? Or are we seriously just fully, completely ignoring that the ONE THING his shitty 'apology' actually said (he would be stepping back) was complete and utter bullshit????!
I'm showing up to this topic three years late, but the overrall fandom response to Scott's response about his political donations is really strange to me in hindsight.
I guess I'm not super surprised that people took his words of not being racist or queerphobic at face-value, but I am disappointed.
At best, we don't know the guy, and being able to evaluate whether he definitively is or is not bigoted is just something that's hard to do with the limited information we have, especially since we don't know how genuine his online persona is. He doesn't elaborate very much on his political views in his reddit post [link] other than specifically saying he's a Christian republican and pro-life.
But even beyond that, most white, allocishet, able-bodied, and otherwise privileged people will deny any accusations of bigotry without reflecting on themselves first, because acknowledging the bigoted things we are taught and complacent in immediately feels like an attack. It takes conscious work to actually respond in a constructive, repairative way to that, and Scott's post feels really dismissive, especially in that he outright refuses to apologize for supporting the candidates in question. The whole post had a "I'm sorry you feel that way" overtone, which is not a proper apology let alone a solution. I feel that someone genuinely invested in disproving those accusations, i.e. not because it hurts their ego, but because it hurts others, would put more care into their response.
Not to mention, even if Scott genuinely isn't queerphobic, and especially if he isn't racist, it's not enough to not be those things. You have to actively unlearn and fight against them. I will give Scott that he has supported organizing against queerphobia with donations to the Trevor Project, but I'm not sure if he has supported any antiracist organizations or movements.
He states he supported a politician thinking they could help "bring the Black community out of poverty," but doesn't elaborate further. From what I understand, that's not necessarily an acknowledgment of systemic racism, as many racists will acknowledge that Black people struggle, but then deny that it's the fault of systemic oppression.
Regardless, neither of these erase his donations to queerphobic and racist politicians. And his admitted pro-life stance is most definitely informed by some amount of misogyny, which is rampant in American Christian spaces.
That's really a lot of words to say that as much as Scott defined our childhood and seems like a nice guy, we shouldn't take his statements at face value at all. We have little information, and what we do have doesn't seem to paint a pretty picture.
It's been three years and I can only hope his opinions and donation patterns have changed, but without any solid evidence, I don't feel comfortable giving him money or benefit of the doubt.
You Dinotopia bitches need to get better at recruitment because why did literally no one tell me Dinotopia was this cool?
"It's a book about human society where dinosaurs never went extinct!"
Oh cool! The art looks interesting maybe I'll buy it if I see it in a thrift store!
VS
"It's a book about an isolated society where humans and dinosaurs live as equals, the dinosaurs having a level of sentience similar to humans. It has a surprising amount of parallels to httyd, among others."
*FROTHING AT THE MOUTH*
Man, I really feel bad for the Dinotopia guys. They built this whole intricate, creative, enrapturing world, and it was going to be the next big thing. It was gonna be the next franchise. They got George Fucking LUCAS to make a screen adaptation of it. Yeah, the starwars guy. Then midway through production he realizes how much he loves making movies and decides to ditch your project and make the prequels instead. They say there's no bad blood but... man it would fucking kill me to go to the theater and see Naboo and think "Fuck, that coulda been waterfall city"
There still was a franchise. They did eventually make spinoff paperback novels and video games and there were even a couple screen adaptations, but they were done by Lifetime and Hallmark. The lifetime one is actually surprisingly good given its budget. It tells a story that mirrors the structure of the original picture book, two brothers get marooned on Dinotopia, one of them rides a pterosaur and then they have to stop a dude named Krab from stealing a crystal that he needs to make an ancient machine get him off the island... but it's not a reboot or anything, it's the same continuity as the books. I guess guys named Krab really do be stealing crystals every generation or so. It's not really that bad of a series but damn it could have been George Lucas!
I dunno, I just find myself thinking about it. It was a uniquely artistic and non-violent series for its time. All of the dinosaurs and people live in harmony. There used to be a steampunk cyber empire of capitalists who tried to replace dinosaurs with the coolest looking robots you could imagine, but then there was a revolution and they all live in communistic harmony with no real currency. Each according to their need, each to their own ability. All that Jazz.
I'm certainly more normal about it than I am say The Underland Chronicles but I still find myself thinking about those gorgeous communist dinosaur picture books. In another reality, Battleborn won over Overwatch, Galidor never got its budget cut and was actually a smash success, Warner bros actually did something with the TUC film rights, and Kids in the 00s grew up with Dinotopia instead of the Starwars prequels.
y'all, not only does James Gurney have an active website, but he's still selling hardcover signed copies of Dinotopia — and for less than $50?!? 😭
He's still selling large art prints too!!
10 year old me is reeling and I cannot wait to fulfill my lifelong dream of having Dinotopia art in my home 😭🩷🦕
Imagine washing up on Dinotopia and getting a talk saying "unfortunately, you can't escape this island! You'll never go home or see your loved ones ever again" & then while you're crying they say "I'm sorry, you'll just have to live on the island of dinosaur communism for the rest of your life" and you look up through your bleary eyes and go. Wait what
i need more angel Gabriel/Gabby NOW!!!
Angel Gabriel Ultrakill and Angel Gabby Angel Hare.
They're colleagues, but I also think they'd be the best of friends.
I may be late to this, but I feel like it says a lot about how analog horror is covered at least on Youtube when Angel Hare, which is one of the most hopeful and wholesome analog "horror" series' I've seen, has videos talking about it that look like this:
Like, yeah it has dark elements, but it's not this horrifying dark show that corrupts children. Jonah wasn't manipulated into becoming a serial killer by Gabby, that's a fandom AU not what actually happens.
I may just be overreacting over something minor, but it annoys me that a genuinely fresh and kind take on the "dark children's show" trope where a guardian angel protects a child from their abusive father and comforts them through a TV show is treated almost exactly the same as Generic Spooky Face Jumpscare Tapes #57. It's all about the dark elements that accompany the story, and not the story itself.
Angel Hare actually tells a coherent and complete story about children's entertainment and escapism, which just so happens to have dark elements to it while still being a comforting series. At least acknowledge the story being told, not just the disturbing elements of it for the love of Angel Gabby.
People on here really defended this piece of shit?
I'm not linking the post because I don't wanna spread it, not like it's too difficult for anyone to find it on their own.
Since someone asked for a wallpaper version of benjamin
had to be in a waiting room for half an hour (ew) so i drew a benjamin to keep busy

I think one of the biggest problems with the FNaF community right now is that a good amount of the fandom is no longer willing to hold Scott Cawthon accountable.
Like, ever since he announced his supposed retirement, people have been acting like he's a saint who made the perfect game franchise or who has never done shitty things to anyone.
I also think this is a result of this mindset that only good people create good things and that if Scott is a bad person, that also makes FNaF bad.
But regardless, we need to go back to taking Scott back down a peg because he is no longer the humble Christian guy struggling to make ends meet and support his family. He is the creator of arguably the biggest indie franchise in the world. And having that kind of power and influence changes a person. It certainly changed him.
Scott Cawthon is probably going to vote Trump again and make life harder for a huge chunk of his fans.
Do You think that scott donations to charity are actually honest or just a display of artificial empathy?is a difficult topic because of course even if it is done to show off is still a very helpful way to give resources to the people that need it however sometimes you're not helping to solve the problem just giving temporary support like his donations to lgbt groups or support for people living in poverty. "Call me a communist when i ask why they have no food."
in america, donating to non-profit charities can be deducted from your taxes, and from my limited understanding the more you donate the less tax you have to pay, up to a certain point. this is a way lots of rich people like scott avoid or lower their taxes while also looking good publicly.
but like you said, its done for show. the thing is that any rich person donating to charity like this are mishandling their money--they donate to the band-aid over the wound, not towards healing the wound itself. and worse, bigots like scott cawthon will use his money and voting power to cause the very problems hes pretending to care about by donating to them. its literally to just cover his sorry ass because "no i actually really do care about minorities despite me licking trumps boots and insisting that the economy is more important than bodily rights!" fucking pathetic
Have you heard of segmented plate armor? Also I don't see a line connecting those 2 pieces, looks more like shadow.
One thing I get particularly salty about Is when people complain about the light fury having hearts on her head and then pretend as if stormfly didnt have a much more noticable one in the second movie,I dont mind if u dont like the light fury but like play fair
As a robot enthusiast I am compelled to say this:
A true machine with ticking gears, pumping pistons, and a nuclear engine roaring with radioactive heat >>>>> flying human women in shiny skin suits
as a lesbian and a robotfucker i would like to give my two cents on the busty robots from the nuclear retrofuture video games. no notes on assaultrons because they are perfect
my favorite genre of alien picture is little grey aliens just naked in the woods like why the fuck are you here. you have a spaceship. why did you come to earth to just stand in the woods and look at us with no clothes
