HEY so mentally ill people that use drugs or alcohol deserve the same amount respect and support as mentally ill people who are sober!

When I say I prefer They/Them but you can use "She" for me, I mean it in the way you can use feminine pronouns for a ship or a piece of large machinery.

Like a poetic gendering of a genderless thing, based on vibes alone.

I am as much a woman as the massive warehouse automation system that an engineer affectionately pats while saying "she's a beauty."

I am a she in the exact same way.

i just need to see more black trans people. black trans men, black trans women, black nonbinary and genderqueer people, black transmascs, black transfems, black queers... all of them.

i just need more black trans visibility and positivity and inclusivity and celebration.

its starting to feel like people like me dont exist...

Can y'all please stop using words like "delusional", "psychotic", and "narcissistic" as insults. These are terms used to describe mental illness. Mental illness does not make people evil, stop acting like does.

Respect psychotic folk!!!

respect psychotic folk by not assuming they're automatically dangerous or hostile.

respect psychotic folk by not feeding into and/or confirming their delusions/hallucinations.

respect psychotic folk by not calling strangers "delusional" when they disagree with you.

respect psychotic folk by not pseudo-diagnosing criminals as psychotic with barely any evidence.

respect psychotic folk by not interacting with "schizoposting" posted by non-schizo specs.

respect psychotic folk by not showing them potentially paranoia-triggering memes.

respect psychotic folk by not interacting with memes that make fun of the psychotic experience.

respect psychotic folk by realizing that none of the things listed are too much to ask for, and that it takes no effort from your side to not be sanist.

"I know someone else with this disorder and they're nothing like you!!!"

Maybe that's because we're entirely separate fucking people who have lead different lives, are at different points in our life, and literally have different brains, not because I don't actually have the disorder.

I’ll say things like “oh I’m just not in a good place mentally right now” like when have I ever been in a fucking good place mentally

Sometimes I feel less like a person and more like a sentient amalgamation of symptoms

At one of those commonly-occurring-multiple-times-daily-in-a-chronically-ill-person’s-life points of “I’m sick of being sick”.

Listen I'm not really in much of a place to talk about fatphobia since I'm not fat myself but like, it's very weird how people talk about weight gain as a side effect of antipsychotics. I was originally told by psychiatrist that he was hesitant to try olanzapine because "it'll make you fat" as if that was somehow worse than mania and psychosis?

Not saying that there aren't any side effects from antipsychotics worth being scared of, but weight gain isn't one of them. It's ingrained into a lot of people to be scared of the weight gain you might experience from antipsychotics, but mental illness is way scarier than being fat. It's just more proof doctors prefer sick thin people to fat healthy people.

I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you can’t draw, there are coloring books. If you can’t write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you can’t sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.

the goofiest thing about people who defend forced hospitalization is that they act like that’s the only option. they’ll look at you with a straight face and act like the only health care options in the world are to either imprisonment via police escort or let people just die in the street. what about outpatient care? having someone check in daily? support groups? online networks? actually making any attempt to relieve any of the immediate pressures that are causing the problem? doing inpatient psych but making it actually voluntary, which means you get to have your stuff, you get to talk to your friends and family, you check your own self out of you feel like it? like why don’t you try treating mentally ill people like noncriminals and see where the fuck that gets you, you know?

maybe i’m just projecting but i think there’s an inherent loneliness in living with a severe mental illness that makes you feel permanently estranged from others and long for the kind of connection where you feel completely understood and accepted, all while knowing other people have their own stuff to deal with or are just not equipped to ride out the worst of the illness with you. this leads to downplaying and/or hiding your symptoms as best you can, which takes even more of a psychological toll on you. this leads to not feeling loved as a complete person, and maybe not recognizing that love when it is present, or always fearing the day people have had enough and leave. even more so if this has already happened to you. it’s so exhausting and sad

bipolar is truly the everything illness. right now i just have symptoms. idk of what specifically this time but they’re definitely happening

If there’s anything I have no patience for, it’s other bipolar people saying deadass that bipolar people shouldn’t have kids. Like maybe YOU shouldn’t. You’re free to make that decision. But don’t let your internalized ableism label me, because most of those people assume that every other bipolar person is as dysfunctional as they are and that simply isn’t true. For example, maybe you struggle to hold down a job? I don’t. Maybe you don’t like children because they are difficult. I do. Many bipolar people are capable of being good parents. And if your argument is that we shouldn’t bring more bipolar people into the world, just fuck you. To say that a bipolar life is worth less than an abled one is pure eugenics mindset, period.
