girls will have one (1) good day when they convince themselves they've never been unwell in their life and the next day the horrors will return
i met autumn by the cobblestone path while the trees bled onto the earth. she lingered for a while, kicking her shoes against the withering flowers, as the bittersweet wind filled the perfumed air of spice and firewood. 🍂

Trying to identify someone's time zone by the hours that they're active on Tumblr is commiting the logical fallacy of assuming that anyone on here has a regular sleep schedule

recommend me some in my ask box!
- revision guides, revision guides REVISION GUIDES! did i mention revision guides? trust me on this, i was failing science recently and my brother gave me a bunch of his old revision guides since he’s off to uni and they help sooo much. ask your teachers about material in your subjects, flag it down in your revision books (i do this with those lil neon sticky notes) and study, study, study (reblogged a post or two on learning material for those who may need it - indirect recommendation from stalking my friend @mohkomx) revise, rinse and repeat (make sure to takes breaks inbetween!) - going hand in hand with revision guides, studying from books, it reduces screentime and is just better for your eyes mind and health in general (plus i find i remember way more from books then from reading from my laptop?) - music in the background, best to use plain stuff like lofi since i tend to find stuff with lyrics distracting (i listen to lofi livestreams on youtube) or plain piano - here’s my favourite list of songs!. if you’re from a noisy household like me, invest a pair of noise blocking headphones but don’t blast music, keep it at a medium-low sound level -last but not least, notes are key, minimalist, highlighter-freak, whatever you are make sure you take proper notes and keep them neat. imagine you’re taking them for someone who’s life rests on your very nice note-taking shoulders. reading back on them really does help. til next time! Amimi
one of my best friends got her results today!! she's going to the top uni in the country for her course, I'm so happy for her but I'm also really sad she'll be going so far, it also happens to be the same place I'm aspiring to go. I think reality is starting to hit me in terms of where I am and what I should be doing to get there, the work she put in is no joke
whats up!!
i'm officially a university student and a year has passed, i'll catch you guys up soon, right now i'm sat in the library trying to organise my life on notion.
i hope to get back into movie content and diary posting, currently im studying media, film and television production with a foundation year. i'd like to think this blog had a part in that.
i'll see you all very very soon :) - Amina
i'm gonna be 17 in less than three hours, i hope getting older means all the aching over things from years ago can go away, i feel like im just frozen at a point in time because no matter what i do there's so many things that don't seem to leave. i wish sixth form goes fast and that i can actually get out of this slump thats seemed to have lasted for the longest time now. i have so much work to do from the easter holiday, i had my chromebook confiscated from me but i got it back the other night so i'll need to last minute complete everything. i want to visit my primary school but i'm a bit scared of how different it's going to be, and if my old teachers will actually be happy to see me. my mum wants me to start driving lessons but i feel like with everything going on i won't be able to handle it.
i was supposed to make a birthday playlist post but honestly there's no point because i won't listen to it anyways i hope when school starts again things will be a bit less miserable. that's all for now Amimi
............
really had to force the jalliteration (jmastermind ji jknow)
also, before anyone tells me that the title doesn't make sense
yes it does.
sorry for the lack of posts in may, it was a mess and nothing was very new from april so i thought it wouldn't be very notable to write about.
this month has been a whirl wind of events. most notably, i applied and got into a summer residential at the University of South Wales, i'm afraid because of my parents and their safety concerns, i won't be able to attend. i also got tickets to an open day at a film school in London! whether or not i'll be able to attend in July is still quite unclear.
i also went on a bus and travelled outside of my own city for the first time, which was super, super stressful but also really exciting! even if it was a village only 20 minutes away, the friend i was supposed to meet slept in that day and had me bawling on the empty street before grabbing the first bus i saw and hoping i was going the right way. another friend from mosque ended up taking me out to try Baskin Robbins (their chocolate brownie fudge ice cream is to die for)
if there's anything i'm going to always remember from this month though, it has to be my first time at the theatre to see WICKED! at The Apollo Victoria.
I can't even begin to describe it, every detail was on point, the staging felt so real it was surreal, it felt more like a movie than a live performance with all the effects and fantastical props (especially the Wizards giant puppet) and costuming (the emerald city costumes were my favorite) the *minor spoilers* love triangle was very unexpected when it was first introduced, I like how perfectly the narrative fit with the original story of The Wizard of Oz instead of twisting it. Defying Gravity gave me goosebumps. if i had to have one complaint, it would be that the crowds cheering didn't let me catch every word.
After the show was over we got to have our own little qna with the main ensemble, i can't remember everything off the top of my head but the two parts that stuck with me were the answers on starting their careers and being constantly rejected at first. Fieros actor had said "it's not rejection, it's redirection" and the actor for Glinda saying that everyone has a thing "let's say yours is wearing pink, even if you get rejected because of that keep doing it, you'll eventually find someone else who loves wearing pink too". She had called it a weird analogy afterwards, but it was on repeat in my head and pink happens to be my favourite color to wear so it felt a little special coming from someone so cool.
that same day we got to walk around London and all i can say is that I've never felt so at home. well, until next time! Amina
