In a witch trial from 1673 in the province of Hälsingland, the maid Giölug Olufsdotter seems to have openly and without coercion confessed to having intimate relations with Satan (Court records 1673). She even claimed that she perceived her relationship with him as beautiful. The court complains that she denied or regretted nothing, showed no desire to repent; and that she claimed to drink, dance, and sleep with the 'worst Devil', i.e., Satan himself, while she was at Blåkulla, the location of the Swedish Witches' Sabbath. As if it did not suffice to proclaim herself a satanic witch, Giölung confronted the court and authorities with utter disdain, reviling the priesthood, the mayor, the court assessors and the police officers with perverse and blasphemous comments.

Got asked if I was a devil worshiper once, and I said:

I don’t worship Satan.

I don’t worship demons.

I don’t worship Lucifer.

Got Asked If I Was A Devil Worshiper once, And I Said:

And when I give them that answer, they look at me like I just sprouted multiple heads. They look at the grimoire that I’m holding, dripping with the secrets whispered to me on black sabbaths and through candle flame. They stare at the sigil of Lucifer that I wear around my neck, one that replaced the crucifix of my Catholic childhood. They listen to the advice that I give customers that come into our shop, and how I discuss the ways that Azazel and Berith have influenced my path. They make assumptions.

Assumptions that these entities demand worship and groveling like the ones that belong to the Catholic church.

Make no mistake: my relationship with all of these entities are that of a teacher and student. An ally. They are a guiding force.

As a little kid, I was told that the only way to get help was to “let go and let God handle it”, to sit on my knees with my hands folded, waiting for a miracle. I was being raised in an environment where I was told that I had no power, therefor, I couldn’t make things better for myself. I had to wait for someone else, the divine, to intervene and fix everything.

The mentality of the Catholic church is cruel:

Love the sinner, hate the sin.

(If I want to be loved, I have to hide my attraction to the same sex.)

Things are all in God’s hands, it’s happening for a reason.

(I’m being abused for a reason.)

Wait and pray.

(I have to endure these hands on me until something else happens.)

Respect your mother no matter what.

(Because I have to love the sinner, but hate the sin.)

Put your money in the offertory basket.

(Or else you’re shamed for being poor in the house of the poor.)

The church wanted me helpless, so that they could be my only help.

It made me resent the idea of worship. I was scared, I never wanted to hand my power over again. It was a lifetime of gaslighting from the Catholic church and my Catholic family that made me believe that I was helpless.

And then came Lucifer.

I’m not sure what the initial reason was for reaching out to the Morningstar. There were many things going on in my life. Maybe I felt helpless, without direction, unable to figure out what to do with myself. I was down in the dumps, I lost a lot of friends and was in a job that I despise. And I’d always been the black sheep of my family. But what I knew was that Lucifer was hated, and I was feeling pretty hated as well.

When I tell you that Lucifer told me things that changed my life, I am not exaggerating:

“You spend so much time trying to be whatever it is that you wish you were, that you continue to be your old self. You just need ‘to be’.

Everything you want is right there, so why aren’t you taking it?

Make your own reality, and discard what doesn’t serve you.

You own your own destiny. Don’t subscribe to the purpose that you were assigned.”

You see, Lucifer did not want me to worship them. They wanted to teach me. They watched me fall over multiple times, but they did not pick me up and coddle me, no. They would then show me what I needed to do instead, putting responsibility into my hands. And it was honestly fucking difficult, they put me through the fucking wringer and made me face what was wrong with me.

Lucifer did not gift me anything, they showed me the way to do it myself.

It was then that things clicked: instead of having my hand held, instead of being guided by a shepherd with a flock of sheep, the path was pointed out to me, and I was given the opportunity to walk it and face the hardships– or remain stuck where I was.

All Lucifer did was shine a light on what I was doing wrong, and then illuminate the next step in the dark. They didn’t walk in front of me and take the lead, they walked next to me and watched me as I opened my eyes to the truth of my own reality: that I have much more control of it than I was ever allowed to believe.

Every demon that I have worked with since then has contributed to that illumination, and the process of gaining ownership of myself.

And it started a chain reaction. I’m still not completely where I want to be, but in roughly three years I have gone from working dead-end jobs, being a people-pleaser to my awful family members and being content with my shit life, to meeting my long distance boyfriend in person, working to strengthen our relationship, enrolling in regular therapy, eating much healthier, working my dream job, cutting out my abusive mother, and getting myself back into school. And, as far as I know, within the next 16 months I will be preparing to immigrate to a new country to start my new life with my boyfriend.

So, no. I am not a devil worshiper.

I don’t worship anything, because I can’t go forward with my life if I’m sitting on my knees.

🔮 Absolutely random, assorted facts from my experience with Tarot:

🔮 Absolutely Random, Assorted Facts From My Experience With Tarot:

You can set rules with your deck. Don’t like reversed cards? Don’t pull them. Don’t interpret them. Request not to get them. Don’t care about the position of the card and want only its meaning? Ask for it.

You can pull confirmation cards. If you are working with a companion, you can set up their personal confirmation card. If you’re working with the deck and the general universe, you can pick a feel-good card (or a rare card if you want) and request it whenever you want to get a vibecheck.

You can repull. If it feels weird, it probably is weird. If you keep pulling the same card all over again, it’s probably correct. But if you pulled one weird one that just doesn’t seem like it belongs, repull. Your deck - your rules.

You don’t need to sweat too much over “official meanings”. So what if the Tower means “something bad”? If it means something positive for you, go with your feelings first. Each practitioner will have their own associations with the cards. I for one quite like the Tower, but I genuinely hate getting the High Priestess. It’s individual.

You don’t need to work with a specific Deity, spirit, or daemon. The cards are powerful tools without any additional presence.

You can assign a deck to a particular entity. I have four decks, out of which three belong to (a) companion(s) of mine. This is completely individual and fully relies on who you want to touch your cards.

You can confuse the cards. When the reading starts to feel like it just reiterates your feelings, it probably is. Or you worded your question badly and the cards don’t know what to tell you. Or you already know the answer. Or maybe something else.

You might be turning your spread into multiple spreads. If your session with tarot can be broken into a number of smaller sessions, you are probably overworking yourself. It helps to step back and think whether or not your multi-card spread turned into a multitude of smaller spreads. Is that why nothing is making sense?

You might be told to read cards some other time. Bias, moods, instability, or the cards just being not in the good state - all of these can affect whether they agree to work with you in the first place. I’ve had decks that stayed “silent” for months on and decks that were willing to work with me every day. It depends.

P. S. One more time: this is just my experience. It is not universal.

so i might be stepping out of line making this post but i feel it needs to be made so yolo i guess.

i know a lot of millenials have a sort of knee-jerk negative reaction towards abrahamic religions (really mostly christianity and judaism) and i understand. really, i get it. my dad is a pastor, and he used his religon to abuse, demean, and control me at every opportunity. he regularly tells my sisters that he’s “so sad im going to hell” and other sundry passive aggressive nonsense, so trust me i get it. i understand how a certain religion can be triggering to someone.

but there is a very important point here, and i really hope you understand this.

you cannot let it make you prejudiced, and, let me be clear here, im talking specifically about antisemitism.

i know exactly whats going on in your head, because for a long time it was what was going on in my head. you hear the word “judaism” and you have flashbacks to sunday school and the old testament and all the times you sat in a church and felt personally attacked, and you associate that with judaism and jewish people because most of the things that upset you were in the old testament.

you can have your triggers, but you can’t let those triggers become an excuse to further marginalize a minority thats already attacked from literally every position of power there is. every major religion has leaders who are antisemitic, every country has a history of marginalizing jewish people, every person on the planet grows up in an inherently antisemitic world and has to unlearn that sort of toxic mindset.

and maybe this post should have been made by a jewish person, or somebody with more education on the subject than me but i think its really important that people don’t let their personal experiences with organized religion turn them into the kind of prejudiced person that hurt them in the first place.

as a romni i have a shared tragedy with jewish people, so i feel like it was easier for me to step back and be like “woah, your thought process here is super toxic and you need to stop” but i feel like a lot of white christian-raised people don’t really have that touchstone and need somebody to be like “wake up, what you are doing is wrong”

Bedridden witch: Ocean edition

image

For the bedridden witches who hear the call of the seas.

Burn sea/beach scented candles.

Listen to background sounds like waves or the wind.

Make macrame strands that have glass beads or sea glass in them.

SEA. SALT. Just keep a jar of sea salt around for any of your needs and to feel connected!

Make a simple salt water spray to cleanse your space.

Create an altar/shelf dedicated to the sea.

Keep beach and ocean themed pictures, paintings and postcards around your room.

Make a sand garden.

Hold a glass of water on your hands, and focus on how the water is/has been connected to the ocean.

Create a sideblog for all your ocean needs. Can double as an altar!

Keep a collection of sea shells and invest in a shell field guide!

Watch ocean documentaries.

Keep crystals like opal, quartz, selenite, blue calcite, ocean jasper, and labradorite around.

Create a bottle filled with things that remind you of the ocean. Here’s mine.

Write/read poetry about the sea.

I really like using ocean waves as a way to clear my mind when I need to calm down/start meditating. Use meditation to connect to the ocean!

Hang flowing curtains from the ceiling - light turquoise and white.

Learn about the lore and mythology related around the ocean.

Whisper sweet nothing towards the sea - it doesn’t matter how far away it is!

The moon phases directly interact with the ocean. Keep track of them!

Draw sigils designed to connect you to the ocean.

Get a little fish tank (only if this feels manageable to you of course!) and keep it in your room.

Do seashell divination

Decorate with beach/seaside decor - rustic wood, shells, blown glass, etc.

Connect with any deities of the ocean/sea (for me that includes Amphitrite, Poseidon and Ceto).

Make/wear seashell or pearl jewelry.

Listen to music that makes you feel like you’re standing in front of the ocean.

When it’s windy or downpour rain, allow it to take you to the sea. Feel the raw energy. Open the window a crack if you can!

This is a great resource for some sea witching ideas!

Warning about @/jesusrules, I was followed by them so they may be going around the occult/witchy side of Tumblr, likely with focus on Infernal practices. Their whole blog is bigotry, nationalism and conspiracy theories.

Have you ever interacted with Lucifer's dragon aspect ? Can't find a lot about it or in the end since snakes and dragons get mixed togheter it is the same as his snake aspect ?

I wouldn't really say it's the same aspect, as they are rooted in different stories, though the Dragon is also described as the Old Serpent so the connection is here.

The snake originally comes from the Serpent of Eden, the dragon comes from the apocalyptic Dragon in the Revelations, both of which were identified with Lucifer or Satan in Christian tradition, though only the Dragon was described as Satan in the Bible. Their imagery and associations are not identical though.

While I have written about Lucifer as the Serpent, I don't have experience with the Dragon, so I can only wish you good luck.

“Eve’s ingestion of the forbidden fruit becomes a heroic act of rebellion against the tyranny of God and Adam. This closely parallels how socialists like Mikhail Bakunin (1814–1876) used Satan’s battle with God as a symbol of their fight against a capitalist and monarchist society (God being the ultimate monarch).”
