Nobody: Will Byers: Can we play D&D?

I am glad you are hopeful about s4 and I love how you are trying to make sense of things but I accepted that the writers only care about fan service. They forgot what we love is the characters&their relationships with each other. General audience is going crazy over the funny parts and the fight scenes and writers care about that. This is the only explanation for this horrible season. We didn't get character developments or scenes apart from a few characters ?! Sorry, needed to let it out.

Oh, I definitely expected fanservice. I expected WAY more fanservice and I’m surprised it wasn’t as much as I thought. I got pretty annoyed with the product placement. Please guys. Stop being so obvious. :/ Leave the product placement for advertising, not within the actual show please. Lucas’s rant is different than every other character freakin’ drinking new coke and shit. At least it made sense for them to have that conversation or to show off the can then.

Anyway, the fans definitely seem to have a say in who gets what. The louder you are, the more you get. People love Billy and want redemption. I think Billy x Steve fics are the second most popular on Ao3. So guess what? Wish granted. Who gains you more favor? The massive amounts of Billy fans, or the ones that don’t care or dislike him?

When it comes to Steve and the mom meme, we are most definitely completely outnumbered. Steve has more people considering him the best mom on the show compared to Joyce, the actual best mom. I think there’s even official Mom Steve merch. I’m pretty sure on Mother’s day, they dedicated a post to mom Steve. So, fandom wish granted. “Mom” Steve. 

I feel two ways about it. It sucks when a creators vision is so… driven by what the fans want instead of writing more of what needs to happen, if you know what I mean.

At the same time, if the situation were flipped, I would be happy that they were catering to my interests so much (Byers family, Will and El, Lucas the action man to name a few). And they might be catering to my interests in the future and I will be happy. It’s hypocritical, but it’s my true feelings.

Yet, there’s still a side of me that wishes what I wanted and what other fans wanted didn’t direct the story so much. I wish they would write what flows most naturally and not try to shoehorn in screen time for the fandom favs. 

But it is what it is. Personally, I am not new to being the underdog in fandoms. Wanting screen time between characters who aren’t popular, have never met, or who aren’t popular together seems to happen to me a lot. But, unlike most of my underdog favorites, I feel like Stranger Things may just deliver on it. I just wish it had been this season

Bran looks so…sad almost when he said he’s no longer Brandon Stark. It seems almost wistful, but he’s resigned himself to being nothing, this omniscient presence almost.

All the Starks have struggled with identity, and now it’s Bran’s time - he knows so much, maybe too much, and it’s made him lose himself (and tbh it’s an interesting idea on how trauma had affected him). He’s back where he wanted to be all along, with the people he’s always loved, but now he’s muted and doesn’t feel like he’s himself anymore.

I hope there IS an after for him, and that he gets to work towards - maybe not becoming the old Brandon Stark, but not the three eyed raven either. Maybe someone new, a Bran Stark who allows himself to feel, to be safe, to grow from his pain.

When you told me about Bran going beyond the Wall, all I could think about was getting my strength back so I could go and find him.

Shoutout to Bran Stark for calling out Jaime and his shit ass defense about being at war for all the horrible things he did. Jaime was not at war when he pushed Bran out of a window, he looked that child in the eyes and without any regard or humanity shoved him out of a window. “The things we do for love.” Is a call out to his bullshit and the way Jaime’s face shifted and his eyes widened, he knows, he knows he still has a lot to answer for no matter what he’s been through.
