I set up my grad school accounts today!! I also compiled a reading list that I organized on Zotero; the goal is to read, annotate, and start drafting a literature review for my first set of grant proposals due in early September.
I'm thrilled to be starting my PhD, and to work with the people who have inspired me. I've also missed being a student

Day 17 - Share your feel-good playlist with us
See here we have the issue of my listening to loads of playlist but here are a couple that aren't mine that I love
tipsy dancing alone in the kitchen - a classic for positive evening vibes
dark academia but it slaps - surprisingly my running playlist but all round good energy
life has been very crazy and so not productive these past couple of weeks. i hit an all time high for burnout this year so I took some time off work *intending* to be productive and do school but I just ended up resting and reading most of the time with some school mixed in.
i've also started a new non-fiction book, adopted a cat, and started tae kwon do classes again. i used to do it when i was younger and got my first degree black belt when i was 14 :) it's somewhat healing my inner child but anything to get out of the house these days.
the past few days have been so stupid at work :/ i'm so ready for the weekend. Hunkering down for the rest of the night to finish my section on HTML then moving onto CSS if I can stay awake :) first picture is a small snippet I wrote while doing my course yesterday
Some Aphrodite facts for people who want to know more!!
✶She’s the mother of Hermaphroditus, the god of effeminacy and the origin of the word hermaphrodite. They’re an intersex person born with male and female characteristics.
✶ Aphrodite was believed to have a magical girdle (or belt) called the "Cestus," which could enhance her irresistible allure and seductive powers.
✶ In addition to her romantic and sexual aspects, Aphrodite was also revered as a protectress of sailors, offering safe passage across the seas.
✶ She was also worshipped as a protector of prostitutes and courtesans, reflecting her association with love and desire in all its forms.
✶ Aphrodite's name originated from the word Sea-foam.
✶ The dove, The affectionate white or turtle-dove was the bird of love, was a bird sacred to the goddess Aphrodite. Doves were said to draw her heavenly chariot, and the Syrian Aphrodite Ashtarte was said to have been hatched from an egg nursed by doves.
✶ In most sculptures, she is often depicted with a round face and a pear body shape! Even having rolls on some of them.
I haven’t taken a bio class since high school, so I did a lot of review before our first practical :) Anyway, this is one of my favorite rooms to study in!
