pocket-sized palm reading. i made an edition of little lino prints for the wonder that is crawl inclusive (the second coming), taking place in dundee this friday. they'll be distributed by the lovely ones of pitch & strike because they are nice like that. so, y'know, if you want one, maybe show up? that said, you might not be able to come, so there's another way you can bag yourself a tiny fortune. i'm going to include one with the next five orders* (over £6.50/$10 inc. shipping) from my shop. yes? yes. *EDIT: all gone! thanks guys.
lovely little local radishes.
slowly but surely, we're settling in. well, alan's been here for five months & feels pretty settled already, but after six weeks i'm finally feeling a bit more at home. inanimate objects make all the difference; being surrounded by significant items that have collected/been gifted over the years has been key in making this flat feels like ours. this doesn't bode well for travelling lightly over any great distances in future, but i think i'm okay with that.
the most organised space so far is the living room. pictures on walls & a bunch of flowers on the dining table. a rocking chair from a family friend & an amazing rug. as of next weekend we'll finally have everything from our old flat in this new one (that includes the massive cd collection & old portfolios full of drawings from four year degrees that we've been reluctant to sift through). by the time i'm twenty six, in just under a month, we'll be done, & then i'll share more.
trying to worry less about looking like i'm being productive/what others think/money. focussing on enjoying experimenting/making a mess/taking my time. that said, you can generally find evidence of said mess making here & some suggestion of messes made here.
started a new blog. i recently decided to exercise my portrait skills (mainly as any ladies i draw somehow end up looking like me) & as a result, girl faces was born.
bit of silence here as i work on some images for other people. currently in the midst of getting some new prints done, which is taking a little time as i try to fine-tune the final outcome in terms of colour & size. slowly getting there. will also be bringing back an oft-requested image that i sold out of some time ago, once it looks right in digitally-printed format.
in other news, i'm up to day eighty over on girl faces. you can read a nice little post on the project over on the fox is black.
after an unexpected & wholly unappreciated hiatus, part two of sleeping on the sleeper is finished! now i just need to complete part three, send to print & bind bind bind. above is the tiniest of snippets from zine #2.
as i mentioned earlier in the year, i'd been going to a ceramics class & i LOVE it. i just finished a second block, & can't wait to start a new one in a couple of weeks. ceramics can be a precarious process - will it look like i thought it would? will the glaze run? will it explode in the kiln? i've been pretty lucky so far. grateful for things going according to plan.
i'm pretty pleased to now have this print in my shop. i created this image last autumn (the message "hang out with some plants" can be found on the prints that will be given out by the project) for advice to sink in slowly, & i've been planning to create a poster of it as a way of offering a piece of larger art for a small cost ever since. finally, it's on sale, costing £5/$7.50. if you've been looking to fill up some space on your walls with a lady wandering through some plants, then today's your lucky day.
fresh start! hello, it seems you've found your way over to my new blog. along with a new website layout, i thought i'd try another platform for outpourings. if you wouldn't mind updating your google reader & feeds, that'd be much appreciated.
for any nostalgia trips (just me?), you can see all posts from 2007 to 2011 here.
on sunday night, i went down to london on the sleeper train. on monday night i came back. it was nice to have a day to wander around, meet people & be all self-indulgent with my drawing (a perfect example of the "nothingness" that this article berates, & that this response from lizzy stewart celebrates). as a result, a zine. but not for another few days; once i've finished doing drawings for other people. then i get to be self-indulgent again.
