some tiny wild things to hide in your plants. hoping to have new things (& old favourites) in my ceramics shop soon. in the meantime, you'll find some small pots (on sale!) & a palm dish, if you like that sort of thing.
a portrait of our cooker for a few days. pasta, corn, fried eggs, veggie burgers & baked potatoes. thankfully alan actually knows what he's doing when it comes to campfires. our pillows smell of smoke.
getting a job for a magazine is generally a good thing, but it's even better when it's one you actually subscribe to. a little while back i was asked by bust to illustrate a piece on female-hosted sex-positive readings & today i got the issue through my letterbox. haven't had time to read through yet, but am happy to share space with tuesday bassen & yelena bryksenkova, two super excellent illustrator ladies.
i'm a pretty optimistic person, but i'm a realist too. life is good, but there are some days when positive vibes can just get the heck out of here. for those days, i suggest the above alternatives. full blame goes to kaye & lesley. now i have the word 'WANG' in large black caps in my sketchbook.
• for 1,000 shop sales • for your patience with how long it takes to restock my ceramics shop • for checking out my new little project (maybe)
i'm in the middle of editing some photos i took of my screen-printing process - it's kind of difficult to be the one doing the printing whilst using the camera! anyway, the above is one of the better images i got. it's just as well i was only using black ink, as i am the worst at deciding on colours to use; ALL OF THEM is often a bad decision in hindsight.
i'd been hoping to sit down & write about this last weekend but the end of january/start of february have been so busy that this is my first "day off" for a few weeks - the main reason being a mural i've been working on for the UK restaurant chain zizzi. after submitting roughs at the end of last year, buying up materials & then spending a good few hours transferring those original ideas from paper to the walls of a corridor, it felt good to step back & see everything completed. the restaurant, found in the building behind GoMA in royal exchange square in glasgow, used to house a bank & telephone exchange; two of the inspirations behind the interior design as well as my wall space. i've posted a few little sneaky snaps on instagram, but if you want to see the whole thing you'll just have to head down there once it opens next weekend.
started a new blog. i recently decided to exercise my portrait skills (mainly as any ladies i draw somehow end up looking like me) & as a result, girl faces was born.
