i really think part of the reason alfred comes off as so intense is that he’s not used to the fact he doesn’t HAVE to yell anymore. i’ve imagined he’s always had to fight for a seat at the table; to be a nation, to be taken seriously, to not be disregarded as a child who doesn’t know any better.. now that he’s grown into his power and definitely not that kid anymore, i don’t think he’s realized he doesn’t have to fight just to be seen anymore. he comes in intense and at 100 because that was the only way he was ever heard and struggles to dial it back when he’s passionate.
hey you, yes you. the creepypasta enjoyer reading this. you’ve been a good boy this year, so i owe you some drawings i did of some silly goobers for Halloween

Someone should make an animatic of America to the song new money
Alfred is actually very prim and proper when it comes to social events. Everything has to go according to plan or it makes him extremely frustrated and antsy.
When he would throw dinner parties, he followed a very strict English-style protocol, and he always planned things months in advance. Even though he’s relaxed a lot during modern times, he has very bad organizational anxiety and has to make sure everything is perfect before starting an event. He is very likely to wear formal attire at those times.
He’s also not sloppy, he’s one of the best dressed nations at meetings, because he refuses to dress anything other than appropriate. It’s mostly due to his upbringing from England and how most business men and women dress in the US.
Alfred, as a character and not just a nation, is very intriguing. He’s his brother’s greatest achievement and his greatest disappointment. A failure, but a winner. Put up on a pedal stool from a young age to show off to the rest of the world. He was a catch that everyone wanted, and when he finally got caught, he was paraded around and boasted about like a fancy prize.
People wanted him, but gave up on him as soon as the odds turned against their favor. His family loves the image of him that they created, but are indifferent to how he really is. Rotating between awe and pity and nothing in between. His friends either act like he’s a nuisance or hang off his arm.
He’s needed but scorned. Wanted but pushed away as soon as he’s done with the task, and having them act as they never asked for his help in the first place. As a person, it’s hard not to feel bad for him.
do. do you think Alfred has to pick up Ludwig's role as the "boring straight-edge killjoy" re NATO meetings. like I'm sure he's not quite as strict as Ludwig but is Alfred the one who's like "hey yo we all gotta give reports on our defense expenditure budgets next go around, mkay?" Like is Alfred the one breaking up fights between Sadik and Herakles? is Alfred the one who has to hunt everyone down to submit their budget reports? is Alfred the "bro if you stall this summit any longer I'm gonna lose it"? is Alfred the "NO FIGHTING IN THE WAR ROOM" one? is he the one trying to give Feliciano orders and then being disappointed? guys we are sitting on a goldmine of potential comedy.
I like seeing Alfred put in leadership roles, mostly because I think it'd be hilarious and he'd actually fucking hate it lmao

1920s Ameger has entered my head and WILL NOT LEAVE.
Just the idea of Ludwig who in the 20s has really just been through a whole lot of bullshit, and is very, very young by national standards, he's only 50 or so but is already 15 or so, if not a bit more physically, getting economically supported by the USA and now Alfred has Prussia's weird kid following him around like a dog whenever he gets the chance, and The USA is trying to stay isolationist at this point so this is hard.
But Alfred has to admit, he really is a pretty little thing, there are worse people to be tailing you.
Also ngl he's on a bit of a power trip at himself not being the young inexperienced one and being the object of someones very confused desire.
Also he realises what Gilbert would have been feeling during the Amrev and is dying of 150 year old embarrasment.
Arthur on Drunk History recounting Alfred’s story from when he found him all the way to American independence.
that's basically what that old scene of Arthur and Alfred going out for drinks and Arthur getting sloshed af was.
I'm having some very cute and amusing mental images of drunk Arthur describing Alfred as a baby though. he gets very teary-eyed, whether he's talking about how cute Alfred was or about how he had a terribly inconvenient habit of frequently dying from plague and whatnot or how proud Arthur was when Alfred started actually putting on weight and growing. it's just a 20-minute segment of Arthur tearily gushing about how smart and cute his baby was and the actors just have to improvise on how the fuck they're going to act it out onscreen; baby Alfred is played by a grown adult who keeps doing overdramatic swooning and falling to the ground every time Arthur describes a death. there's a witch that appears, somehow, but Arthur doesn't go into detail so the actor is just ?????? Ominous witch onscreen for zero discernible reason.
the rest of the episode is also fun but the baby segment becomes particularly infamous because it's just so fucking ridiculous.
