Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.
DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.
edit: apparently tum "queerest place on the internet" blr hates disabled people so much that this post got automatically filtered. cool!
second way more important edit: How are people seeing this post where I specifically talk about burn survivors being normal, real people, and still tag this as "TW body horror"? Not a single one of these drawings or pictures is a fresh injury. All of them are healed. How the hell would you feel if someone tagged a photo of you as "trigger warning: gore"?
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
A small guide for people who struggle with this area
Y'know, honestly I don't post a lot, but it's been stressful, with the election an all as a trans girl, but I feel like this is kind of a bad occasion cuz all the controversy but I just wanna put this out there that no matter what, you should find what you can to healthily put make yourself feel as comfortable and beautiful and y'know, generally nice about yourself, because in this one life that you have, you gotta live it, and I mean live it. Like enjoy it.
I didn't have to do my least favorite period in school.
Today has been rough. We all need some positivity. Reblog this with something good that happened to you today. It doesn't have to be anything major. Just something that made you smile.
I'll start. I won $5.00 on a scratch ticket ☺️
Hey God, I'm trying to organize a nationwide protest on December 2nd. Could you help?
yeh sounds fun
i'm logging off.
Once a little boy went to school. One morning The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. He liked to make all kinds; Lions and tigers, Chickens and cows, Trains and boats; And he took out his box of crayons And began to draw.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make flowers.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make beautiful ones With his pink and orange and blue crayons. But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And it was red, with a green stem. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at his teacher’s flower Then he looked at his own flower. He liked his flower better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just turned his paper over, And made a flower like the teacher’s. It was red, with a green stem.
On another day The teacher said: “Today we are going to make something with clay.” “Good!” thought the little boy; He liked clay. He could make all kinds of things with clay: Snakes and snowmen, Elephants and mice, Cars and trucks And he began to pull and pinch His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make a dish.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make dishes. And he began to make some That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And she showed everyone how to make One deep dish. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at the teacher’s dish; Then he looked at his own. He liked his better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just rolled his clay into a big ball again And made a dish like the teacher’s. It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon The little boy learned to wait, And to watch And to make things just like the teacher. And pretty soon He didn’t make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened That the little boy and his family Moved to another house, In another city, And the little boy Had to go to another school.
The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. And he waited for the teacher To tell what to do. But the teacher didn’t say anything. She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy She asked, “Don’t you want to make a picture?” “Yes,” said the little boy. “What are we going to make?” “I don’t know until you make it,” said the teacher. “How shall I make it?” asked the little boy. “Why, anyway you like,” said the teacher. “And any color?” asked the little boy. “Any color,” said the teacher. And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.

an animatic would go so unbelievably hard
Rule #34 by Fish in a Birdcage would be the perfect song for a Billford edit I think. The chorus specifically, “Right now you’re mine, all mine / Give in, you’re mine, all mine.”
It’s so them coded right? If you agree, just look up Billford Rule 34— *I am yanked bodily off of the stage by a comically large cane*
Someone asked for another hand tutorial and i once again failed to deliver the tutorial part
Tumblr makes it look really low quality, but they’re fine if you click on them~ :)

Notes from “The Animator’s Survival Kit” book.
[Pg.259 - 265] This is the end of my book studies. I’m pretty proud to have gotten through it and do a handful of the exercises. But this is only step one, I’m moving onto more advance animation techniques and will be posting those as I complete them. At the moment I’m currently wrestling with Toon Boom, so we’ll see how that goes.

Trans people are just
So fucking cool and smart and funny and handsome and pretty and cute and I think it’s divine to reject your own body in favor of your own path in life and all of them are so fucking brave for being trans in a world that would beat them up and spit on their wounds if given half a chance and yet so many of them are proud of who they are and that’s beautiful in such a simple way and I love every trans person so much but then again I’m biased :P
Dear downydig,
Any secret knowledge on how to do fluid and dynamic poses? (Btw, I love ur art!! So comfy and cozy!!!)
Sincerely, Paper-Starz
Hello hello! I have some advice! I did a thing on lines of action and the benefits of tracing in learning models a LONG time ago… the advice still holds up! Use shapes like ‘s’ curves, ‘c’ curves, and even sharper ‘U’s to give a fun fluid motion! Limbs and spine are the main help here, but the head sometimes comes into play ✌️
I have a little more to add, however! One of these pictures is my oc and the other is a king fu panda character but it’s still useful! When creating a pose, you can also use silhouette! Bonus points if the shape of the silhouette is different than the shapes that compose the character (in a way that matches the personality of course!)
Gripping a sword overview

Hello deltarune community
I think ralsei is either Gaster or is otherwise an extension of/a worker for Gaster disguised as someone who looks a lot like Asriel as to convince Kris to be complicit in whatever experiment/connection is happening with the player
Goodbye deltarune community
Compiled some basic information I know about drawing fat characters for beginners since I've been seeing more talk about absence of really basic traits in a lot of art lately.

I also recommend checking out the PSG Art Tutorial and looking at the lighting/value section, which is an amazing resource.

very much a WIP with a lot more examples to be added and please don’t notice the typos, but the one compliment my art always gets is regarding dynamic body language / expressions, so I thought I’d do a series of … pointers? about how I approach characters/figures.
people have done some pretty good expression tutorials but nothing quite as macro as “power” :v

Some sample pages from Andrew Loomis’s series on how to draw comics, 1939-1961, concerning perspective and composition. (The changes in font and layout stem from the fact the pages come from different prints.)
I tried to collect the most useful pages, but of course I’m limited to only 10 images per post.
This is a follow-up of sorts of the Disney “how to draw comics” handouts I posted earlier, and which can be found HERE.
Right, but why tf is he EUCLID class?
