so season 1 was familiarizing us with elliot’s alters, introducing players and setting the scene for the play that was about to unfold. season 2 was creating tension between mastermind & robot and establishing just how unreliable a narrator elliot would be just by way of his mental illness. season 3 was when all the big, sweeping moves happened and the fate of most of the players was determined. season 4 is the jarring, sudden realization that this was never about revenge, but a desperate desire for control over a world that was unsafe for host elliot to occupy; that there was a greater purpose concealed beneath the theatrics and rage-fueled rants, and that elliot’s trauma was always at the center of it.
