self destruction
open starter: everyone CLOSED - Capped at 7 muns. location: masquerade event, boys and girls club donation table
This wasn’t the last place Leo wanted to be at. It was a Masquerade. How timeless and niche, and Leo adored timeless and niche. He liked it enough to choose the black and gold leather mask, shaped and painted as a lion and its’ mane. But when he began to read the details and realized it was for charity, he was immediately put off. He was possessive over his hard earned money, over his wife’s hard earned money, to give it away in a way that didn’t serve him directly.
Was I a bad person? Leo thought, leaning against the table some more as he stared hard at the blank space beside the dollar sign. He was suppose to donate. It was good to donate. And definitely was the better choice between volunteering and donating. Especially to a group that had tried to help him when he was growing up in the system. But still look at where all the help had got him. He turned to the nearest person next to him, his eyes making a show to glaze over their mask as he took their appearance in. Then he took a glance at their respective donation slip. “Hey, do you think five dollars is enough?” He chimed.
closed starter for: @tianaleiwilder location: at the dive bar on the 9th
Leo’s legs were stretched before him on the bar stool beside him. Shins dangling off of the cushions though he made no effort to take up more real estate. The dive bar wasn’t too busy on this late weekday night. He liked it this way. It was kind of like having the place to himself. the hum of conversation, throwback music, and the sounds of a game of pool were completely comforting to Leo. He had his usual in front of him. A whiskey sour, so chilled that the glass was sweating.
He ignored it for the time being for his phone in his hands, which rested on his lap. He bit his lip, wondering what he should say as he looked at the text messages between him and Ana. He had been the last one to say something which was evident by the multiple blue bubbles. But she hadn’t said a thing to him for three hours. His leg started to shake as he tried to figure out a way to say something but not seem so eager as he had felt. He had to play it cool but he was feeling the opposite as he looked at the time stamp of her last message. But then the grey dots popped up on the left side of the screen and Leo could feel himself shift to being excited. He quickly grabbed his drink and took a sip with his eyes still on the phone.

Blake wasn’t a hard person to scare and right now she was terrified by Leo, not to mention the look in his eyes. The grip on her arm faded into the background compared to that because he looked….so angry. Like it was down in the depth of his soul and it made the woman shrink back slightly even before he’d let go of her. When he finally did her bicep was throbbing from the force. Still for some reason she wasn’t willing to let him just back away from her even on this busy underground train, taking a careful step forward towards him now she had some autonomy in her limbs. “Why…why would you grab me like that? I’ve never done anything to you.” Her voice was just loud enough for Leo to be able to hear her even of the din of the train going through the tunnel, her eyes imploring. After all the man in front of her was the father of her child, whatever she’d just told him, and god knows what he might have done if she had admitted the truth. It made her think in the immediate aftermath that she had done the right thing by lying to him, even though by her very nature lying was something the woman never liked doing in the first place.

When Blake approached him again, he took a half step back as a precaution. It was clear that didn’t trust himself. “I know, I’m—” he shook his head, feeling the fear that his anger cloaked itself with. He looked at her and saw how her beautiful face was contorted with fear. “Please, forgive me, I couldn’t have had the child be mine.” He panted now, feeling his mouth grow drier in the humid train. His brown eyes wide and his hands were tighten with in fists and he wrestled with his emotions. “It would kill my wife. Despite how I’ve treated her— I — don’t want to hurt her.” He sucked in a breath and shook his head. “She can’t know who I am.” One of his fists met with his quad, in the beats of his words, emphasizing the desperation he felt.

Avery leaned in slightly, waiting to hear what he was going to say. Seemed like it was going to be big from the way he showed up. Something serious. When he finally responded, she knew that wasn’t completely true. It was something more but she wasn’t going to push, it wasn’t her business. He would tell her when he was ready. “Uh huh. well i hate to burst your bubble and as tempting as that sounds, I’m not sleeping with a drunk guy. Maybe when you sober up.”
-
“At least, I’m tempting,” he said his ego clearly present in the room, taking up space as it did. “I could sober up in like an hour or two.” He said confidently, but his head lulled to the side on the couch’s cushion. His body no longer wanting to fight the fatigue, but his heart was continuing its’ rapid beating. the paradox inside was beginning to become so uncomfortable, it needed something. to release something. but he wouldn’t let himself reveal the truth. it caused a sudden shift in his stomach. he sat up suddenly and looked at Avery with actual fear that he previously tried to hide, before he bolted from the room. leo managed to make it the bathroom. and he was on his knees on a ruffled bath rug with his head in the toliet. his glass of water had spilled on the floor near him. this wasn’t going at all going according to his plan.
What’s your favorite type of book or movie?
"Favorite type of movie would be anything old and different. I like to see those old school movies that no one cares for today. Especially the sci-fci ones."
What is a relationship deal breaker for you?
His head lulled to the side as he processed what that question really meant. Did he have a deal breaker when he was one himself? He was selfish enough to believe so. Selfish enough to believe he deserved what he wanted. "If they're not honest." He said then began to scratch his beard, in a self-soothing manner. he continuously pushed away the thoughts about just how honest he had been. and he here was, putting it on a pedestal for himself.
