there’s a chinese exchange student in my composition class and we were being presented something about how you can use brackets to signify translation and there was chinese text on the screen and the prof said to him “what does that say?” and he deadpanned “i can’t speak chinese” and everyone sat there in dumbfounded silence and then the presenter clicked to show that the text literally said “i can’t speak chinese” with the most shit-eating grin on his face
really excited to go up the mountain with my dad to sacrifice a lamb
Tada! Dye-painted wool felt cape, part of my emperor moth comission.
oh youre touch starved??? wanna hold hands about it
the reason i secretly like holiday meet-cute movies is not because they're romantic. it's because of their ludicrous, BALLS TO THE WALL insistence that there are VERY REAL and VERY POWERFUL SUPERNATURAL FORCES that will go to ANY McFUCKIN LENGTH to make wishes come true. like i have seen less commitment to magic as a plot device in actual genre fantasy media. almost literally every holiday movie is like:
secretly tenderhearted heroine who puts on a chilly facade because of her previous Disappointments: oh well. i know it's silly to dream, because.... because holiday magic isn't... real
holiday magic, bolting upright in rage: the FUCK i AIN'T
secretly tenderhearted heroine who used to love christmas but hasn't been back to the farmhouse for years: i just don't have time to fall in love, especially not... at this time of year...
holiday magic, flinging her soulmate from a whole other century bodily over the windshield of her car: INCOMING, BITCH

Soulmates aren’t real, are they?
It's been getting cold lately! I drew these last year to make myself feel warm and I hope they will warm you up too :)
Also. It's okay to enjoy content with gay/bi men in it and appreciate them as characters or their ships. But when you start treating them like babies or something just for your entertainment? Gross. There's a line between appreciation and fetishization, more people need to learn when they cross it.
“gay men shouldn’t be over sexualized and be treated like sexual deviants” and “gay men are allowed to be in sexual relationships and talk about their sexuality in adult spaces” are two things that can exist at the same time.
people who use the first to call out any instance of gay sexuality as “gross” and say gay men can’t show any signs of sexuality towards their partners are a problem. people who use gay men’s sexuality as a fetish are a problem. gay men are allowed to have sexual feelings and feel sexual attraction and they shouldn’t be demonized or fetishized for it.
tldr just treat gay men with respect and stop infantilizing us and/or fetishizing us.
garden kitties! 🌼 i’ve been wanting to share these for a minute. these are going to be Patreon stickers this month!
idk about y’all but I think it’s pretty terrifying having to personally hear bisexuals in offline spaces express being practically shamed out of openly identifying as bisexual because they’ve internalized the belief that bisexuality is not inclusive of trans/nb ppl and if that doesn’t hit home for you how dangerous misinformation and ahistorical takes are in the current state of LGBT activism then I honestly don’t have much else to say.
girl titans :)
the line between doing some things as self care vs doing them as depressive apathy is soooo fine, like oh do i wanna sleep all day because i’m tired and i need it or because i’m depressed and trying to escape? same with not going out, canceling plans, isolating yourself, like, ANYTHING comfortable in even a little excess is liable to be one or the other... the line is thin and im a tightrope walker who just joined the circus to get away from the family farm and ive never walked a tightrope before and i am lying in the hay on the ground.
I want my LGBT stories to have high stakes but I want those stakes to be escaping pirates and surviving a post apocalyptic world and fighting in a magic war, not like.......... homophobia
“Oh that animal doesn’t LIKE you it just TOLERATES you” …..So? If that’s the most a non-social organism can feel towards you isn’t that just as special an honor as whatever it is you think affection means??
being interested in serial killers and their motives and what drove them to kill but understanding that they were awful people who did awful things and not normalizing/romanticizing them
romanticizing/being attracted to/admiring/shipping serial killers
Winter is coming quickly. A lot of people see this time of year as bleak, depressing, or just boring. Here are some tips to stay attuned to nature during these months.
❄️ Go outside. Even if it’s cold, the trees are bare, and the only colors are muted and dull. We often think that summer is the only time to enjoy the outdoors—the only time to hike, meditate outside, etc. In winter, there are no lush green trees or balmy days filled with sunshine and the smell of flowers. While summer is intoxicating, winter is a time to contemplate and reflect. Go outside. Feel the cold. Feel the mud and the dead grass and the chilly wind. Listen to how quiet it is. Understand that the dark half of the year is a time of silence, stillness, and death. It’s natural to have an aversion to these things, but take some time to sit down and just listen. Breathe. Feel the reality of silence and death around you. It’s a sobering experience, but also a very insightful one. If you have any fear of death or quiet, now is the time to go sit with those things as they appear in nature and just meditate with them.
❄️ Eat cozy foods. It’s cold outside—warm up with hearty soups, stews, homemade bread, and root veggies. Warm spices and hot drinks will keep you feeling grounded. This is a wonderful time of year to practice kitchen witchcraft—focus on coziness, family, protection, and rest.
❄️ Study magic! The Dark Half of the year is devoted to self-reflection, rest, and contemplation. Snuggle up indoors with a fluffy blanket and devote some time to studying magic and witchcraft with a hot cup of magically-brewed tea.
❄️ Think spirits are sleeping along with all the greenery? Think again! The Dark Half of the year, in many cultures and spiritual traditions, is considered extremely spiritually active. Deities like Odin, Berchta, Hekate, and spirits such as elves and ghosts are very active this time of year. You can choose to honor them if you want, or practice various spirit-working techniques. If you’re into necromancy or divination, this is a wonderful time of year for those things.
❄️ Be kind to local wildlife by installing things like bird feeders outside your home. We modern humans may have an easy time of it in winter, but animals struggle to survive during these months. Any bit of kindness will be much appreciated.
❄️ Nurture your fire energy. During winter, it’s easy to internalize the cold and take on its characteristics—sluggishness, sleepiness, a foggy-headed feeling. Some crystals that are great for winter include golden rutilated quartz (aka Venus hair), citrine, carnelian, obsidian, and garnet. All of these crystals contain a strong fire element as well as offer grounding qualities, mental clarity, and protection.
❄️ Go out and forage for magical ingredients! Melted snow is extremely purifying and can be incorporated into spells for purification and cleansing. Icicles can serve as temporary wands, especially in spells that require a strong water element. The ash from bonfires (or hearth fires) can be used to make black salt. Fallen branches can be crafted into wands. There may be nothing growing this time of year, but you can get creative and still find magical ingredients in unexpected places. Just be respectful and don’t collect from places where it’s illegal!
This is by no means a comprehensive list—these are just some ways I’ve celebrated the colder months. I hope they’re helpful in any way!
Hypothetical dark academia novel in which instead of the crazed obsession being death, it is birth. Imagine a group of teenage girls drunk on the power they have to create life. They consider themselves gods. They drink wine, have bacchanals, and eat fruit in mossy caves on Sunday mornings. They gather every day before school to review the latest scientific discoveries over orange-peel tea. They write plays and raise their voices in excitement over new plot devices and marvel at the endless possibilities they have. The girls are avid feminists; they write essays and speeches about femininity and gender roles. They romanticize Renaissance women. They show up to school in all black, dress shirts rolled up to the elbow, hair in elaborate braids. Imagine the romances, the scheming, the poetry, the art, the speeches, the projects, the philosophical ramblings, the wide-eyed wonder and subsequent ambition.
i don’t know who needs to read this but remember that fandom is a hobby. it’s supposed to be fun, not an obligation.
you don’t have to post on a schedule, or update wips that don’t inspire you.
you don’t have to fill all the prompts you get.
you don’t have to write long things because you feel like this fic is too short.
remember that we’re all here to have a good time. when you find yourself getting stressed by fandom stuff, just stop, breathe and think. what’s the rush? is the world gonna end if you don’t work on this fic / art / edit / blog today?
and if anyone tries to make you feel bad about taking it easy, they can kiss my appletaters. we are doing this for free, because we love it.
just come here, let’s sit and chill for a bit.
