Ya know... I think that if correctly armed, a penguin could probably set off explosives present in a warehouse, thereby being the party most responsible for blowing up the warehouse. Given what I know, I feel confident that correct armament is likely to be some sort of fancy laser-glasses.

okay contrary to a previous post i made: what if jason wrote fanfiction but it became a MC Daredevil situation where literally everyone knew his identity but he just waves them off

Jason: *writing A/N* here you go guys, sorry, something came up with my job comments: we all know it was the warehouse penguin blew up. its all over the news jason: *responding* idk what you're even talking about dude, i don't own a tv. how could a flightless avian blow up a warehouse

jason: this chapter's gonna be a little dark cuz that's my mood this week comments: is it because they took you off the earth's greatest threats list? jason: they wh---no of course not

jason: *posts* comments: we missed you red hood! jason: idk who that guy is but he sounds cool

jason: ugh, have you guys seen the new episode? shit's horrible. here's a fix-it. comments: do you . . . perhaps . . . think its horrible because they misused the gun props . . . jason: no i was talking about x character dying but YES OH MY GOD THAT PART HURT ME TO WATCH comments: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

comments: so when r u going to change your ao3 name to redhood? jason: i fucking swear if one more of you moterfuckers insinuates that i am the gotham vigilante known as the red hood i will withhold five of my most recently written chapters from the entire fucking lot of you comments: . . . you'd never jason: fuck

comments: you have an interestinly in-depth and expanisve kowledge of firearms jason: well, we all have hobbies jason: mine was born out of fear of the ao3 author curse. ima fuckin shoot the thing the moment i see it comin comments:

... This leaves "people keep on using it wrong" "rogue doesn't seem to be meant to be played in a standard setup, especially the assassin subclass" and "there's no real stealth rules", but the first one isn't an actual problem with D&D, and the other two are very rare complaints, so, like - depending on the balance of the "Supine" penalty, and the allowance of inter-combat reset (which I'm Pretty sure is implied by the official proper structure) - this may well at least fix enough of the problems. I recommend also just straight up removing the Rogue class.

Spends months on end hyping up a forthcoming Dungeons & Dragons clone I'm working on which I claim will fix all of the system's problems, then when it comes out the only substantive difference from core-book 5th Edition is that "Prone" and "Supine" are two separate conditions.

The fact that you get different information based on your model of phone is an actual feature - you get reviews based on models that are similar to yours, because many applications work better (or even just flat out work) on higher end models. Hence, it's a 'reviews relevant to you' sort of thing, just being done less obviously than normal.

hey folks if you have an android phone: google shadow installed a "security app".

I had to go and delete it myself this morning.

Just over 3¢ a bundle! That's very little. I had thought it was saying $1.86 per 60-radish bundle at first glance, which feels far more reasonable.

This is not “low-skilled” labor. My back hurts just watching that. Pay them a living wage, give them health care and dignity in the type of conditions they work.

Having of seen the comment about 52% from more neutral sources, that sounds unreasonable based on the light pollution in Pyongyang, assuming that 100% of China's people have electricity.

Although it is to my awareness that at the least, environmentalism is a historical socialist secondary goal, so it would make sense that the socialist/communist countries would have less light pollution, so a light pollution comparison of NK vs SK is simply going to be wrong.

However, it is fair to compare NK and China. Obviously Wikipedia's main 2020 Dandong stats don't directly compare to Pyongyang's 2008 stats. However, a 2005 Dandong stat is seen on Wikipedia too; from this, I find it reasonable to conclude that Pyongyang is thrice as large as Dandong. Now, if I read the Wikipedia page right, Dandong is Both of those slightly larger than Pyongyang lights near the coast on North Korea's north-west border.

Therefore, I conclude that, if anything, the CIA's 26% statement is likely an overestimate; it's more likely something just under 16%, instead. Assuming China's population all has electricity, of course.

... Okay, so, like - what's on with aunt cassie?

"How could you do this" with the help of the demon blade "this isn't you" well yeah it's me and the demon blade "I know you're a good person" yeah that wasn't in question "please come home" not if you're gonna be a dick to the demon blade "we need to destroy the demon blade" listen I don't come to family gatherings and say we Need To Destroy aunt cassie and she's genuinely evil, unlike the demon blade

... Which, like - I should probably of given some more context here - I can't hold the i in kit, big sing, it, hit, and both is in historic any better than I can hold a t. This is based on how it goes when I try to hold the letter as I say it - I suspect I'm making a slightly different sound when I try to isolate it, through that also doesn't hold for very long.

Been looking at things and thinking about how I say things as a result, and - if trying to hold a sound in a word causes one to not hold that sound, and also not breathe in until one stops trying, it can't be a vowel, right?

I think I know what you mean? Like, you can theoretically breathe in while producing an /i/ sound but not while producing an /r/ sound? Although that might just be a lack of practice on my part. Anyway I'm not sure what the big phonology heads might have to say about that as a definition.

But yeah as it turns out the definition of vowel is a bit less clear-cut than it might seem. Or like there is generally a consensus as to what a vowel is, but it's hard to define a clear boundary for what isn't a vowel. This has to do with there being two different definitions of vowels: one is phonetic and defines vowels as sounds produced with an open vocal tract, and the other is phonological, defining them as sounds that form the peak of a syllable. Now, it's easy to say that, for example, /iː/ is a vowel in pretty much both ways. But then you have shit like the syllabic consonants of English (the /l/ in the word "table" and the /n/ in "button") and other languages which do similar things, and the latter definition is no longer quite as useful. The semivowels /j/ and /w/ are a bit of a mess in this regard because they generally won't be syllabic but they also involve less constriction of the vocal tract than the other consonants. But more than vowels.

I've been blocked for making an annoying comment before, and, like - that is Always a fundamental issue between the way we communicate, but, like, on a platform that has one button for preventing someone from having a meaningful interaction and for preventing someone from seeing your blog at all, the opportunity to negotiate that sort of thing Exactly Once with folk central to a community your on the edge of makes sense! And it's not as if Tumblr can tell who is or isn't central... Rather hard to engage with a fandom when an important person has blocked you.

we need block appeal on this site i need to be able to argue my merit to people who hate me for one (1) thing i said so that i can reblog their good posts

That's exactly why it is so interesting - you have to pick one screenshot.

Spinning up an unauthorised fork of tvtropes.org specifically because I feel strongly that every trope page should be illustrated with an appropriate screenshot from The Penguins of Madagascar.

Ooh, much thanks!

While reorganising my media library I did a quick survey of word frequency in tabletop RPG titles (because I'm the sort of dweeb who thinks "hey, I should do word frequency analysis for no reason"), and while the results were largely unremarkable, it turns out I have like four different games whose titles contain the word "bubblegum".

... Instinctively, absolute terror makes the most sense to me, yet when I try to think this through logically, I can think of normal reasons for the first two, but not for absolute terror. This confuses me.

'there is no clock here', spoken in a variety of tones and affects; relief, calm, absolute terror

... Honestly, if not for my dairy intolerance and dislike of most dairy free cheese I've tried (including all the sliced ones), I may actually like that? Like... It's a distinct style of food which I wasn't quite expecting at any point until it was done, but it's probably decent.

what the fuck is this monstrosity

I just accidentally made un-tea?????

I made green tea, but I forgot there was an old bag of chai in the kettle, so I mixed chai water with decaf green tea, then I mixed in like a half table spoon or something of that honey from the dollar store that they aren't legally allowed to call honey because there's too much corn syrup in it and some almond milk and a single drop of coffee creamer because we ran out and???? It tastes like??? Nothing????

It has LESS flavor than my tap water! HOW do you EVEN-

I think I made a flavor that's only perceptible to shrimp, that's the only explanation

... How else would you say it, honestly. Like, sure, you could've just said computers or for the switch, but, like, that doesn't make it come across as less kinky anyways.

Nintendo literally made an official tf animation of their own product and I've seen barely anyone get weird about it

Is there an extension to make tumblr always go to www.tumblr.com/url instead of url.tumblr.com ?

The extra sensory experience from the custom backgrounds is something I can only handle most days, yous always break something with it, and occasionally that's something very basic, like, as in the example that made me make this post, scrolling. (No infinite scroll, no identifiable next page/previous page buttons.)

Blackout poetry exists on a dual axis from "banal" to "insightful" on the input side and "kind of deep" to "incredibly fucking dumb" on the output side, and while taking something banal and producing something kind of deep is well and fine, for my money taking something insightful and rendering it incredibly fucking dumb is where the real art is.
