I'm not a doc, but my doc told me 2 is a myth. The connection between Vitamin C and adhd meds was debunked - it was merely something drug users did in order to appear clean - they consumed a lot of Vitamin C before testing. It did not work.
The myth was later twisted to the version we hear today. Supposedly even some doctors believe it, although definitely not most. Idk about that one - never met one.
Some smarter/more informed people on the adhd tumblr seem to agree with my doc, so I believe it.
not necessarily aimed at you personally but I figure you and others following might know things: I am waiting for an appointment to talk about finally getting ADHD meds and I am dying to know two things: will it stop or at least HELP these sugar cravings for the dopamine machine and also is it true I can't have fruit juice anymore
It might. It's more likely it will just help you control your actions in response to the cravings and/or make you less interested in eating for a while. Be ready for the dreaded nighttime munchies though... post-meds I have zero self-control.
There is some evidence to suggest that having meds with, say, orange juice can make the meds a little less effective. I think as long as you don't just take them with orange juice and nothing else, you'll be fine. It's rarely a big enough issue that doctors bring it up. (The weird trend of eating charcoal bread etc was a bigger issue because activated charcoal basically sucks up and neutralises some "poisons" in your body... like stimulants and anti-depressants. Yikes.)
For any new medication PLEASE talk to your doctor about any concerns or questions, no matter how silly you feel they are

So Amazon has started delaying the shipping of all “non-essential goods” until mid to late April. Which, to an extent, I get. Times are weird. But it still deeply unsettles me. They took over so many markets, destroying local alternatives, and now they have the ability to just stop providing millions of things for a month. Who’s deciding what is essential here? What if someone desperately needs a food/medicine/medication that they can only find on Amazon, but Amazon didn’t consider that essential?
Like, yeah, there’s ways around Amazon sometimes, but still. It’s just another sign of how much that damn company needs to be stopped.
yes honey your evil laugh is utterly diabolical and will definitely strike terror into the hearts of all your enemies now will you please come to bed
oh. maybe. maybe this it. maybe that’s the problem.
hey so what the fuck was this about
one time this nondescript guy came into my dunkin donuts and ordered a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot, and for some reason that peculiar order stuck with me so much that when, seven months later, i saw him in the parking lot walking towards the door, i quickly made a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot. he ordered it and i was already holding it.
i would describe his demeanor that second time as “incredulous”

Abortion Clinic Employee Shares How Some Pro-Life Women Act When They Come In As Customers
I am not surprised that anti-choice zealots would hypocritically obtain abortions, but I am thoroughly fucking shocked that they wouldn’t even attempt to hide their anti-choice views when doing so.
For the people who are out there “fighting the good fight” and “trying to make fandom a better place,” I have two important questions for you:
1. Is the author dead? x
2. Is your baby in the bathwater? x
What do I mean by those things? Let’s start with #1. The Death of the Author is a type of literary criticism, the extreme cliff notes version of which is that art exists outside of the creator’s life, personal background, and even intentions. I’m using it slightly differently than Barthes intended, but that’s okay, because the author is dead and I’m interpreting his work through my own lens.
In fandom, the author is dead. In fact, the author was never alive in the first place, not really. The author has only ever been the idea of a person, because unlike published fiction, the only thing we know about a fanfic author is that which they choose to tell us about themselves.
Why is that important?
Because it might not be true. Hell, that happens in real life with published authors, who have SSN’s on file with their publishers, who pay taxes on the works they create and have researchable pasts. If the author of A Million Little Pieces could fake everything, why can’t I? Why can’t you? Why can’t the writer of your favorite fic in the whole wide world?
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: “you can only write about [sensitive subject] if [sensitive subject] has happened to you personally, otherwise you’re a disgusting monster that deserves to die!!” Or maybe “you can only write [x racial or ethnic group] characters if you’re [x racial or ethnic group] otherwise you’re racist/fetishizing/colonizing!”
You can play this game with any sensitive subject you can come up with. I’ve seen them all before, on a sliding scale of slightly chastising to literal death threats.
Now, I could tell you that I’m a white-passing Latina whose grandmother was an anchor baby. I could tell you that I speak only English because my family never taught me to speak Spanish, something which I’ve been told is common in the Cuban community, though I only know my own lived experience. I could tell you that I’m mostly neurotypical. I could tell you that I’m covered in surgical scars. I could tell you lots of things.
Are any of these true? Maybe! I could tell you that my brother has severe mental development problems, so uncommon that they’ve never been properly diagnosed, and that he will live the rest of his life in a group home with 24-hour care. Is that true? Am I allowed to write about families struggling with America’s piss-poor services for the handicapped now?
Am I allowed to write about being Cuban? After all, I did just say that I’m Cuban. But is it true? Can I instead write a character that’s Panamanian? Maybe I really am Panamanian, not Cuban. Maybe I’m both. Maybe I’m neither. Maybe I’m really French Canadian. Should we require people to post regular selfies? I can’t count the number of times I’ve had someone come up to me speaking Arabic, and I’ve been told that I look Syrian. What’s stopping me from making a blog that claims that I am Syrian? Can you even really tell someone’s race and ethnicity from a photo?
Am I allowed to write about being a teenager? Am I allowed to write about being a college student? Am I allowed to write about being an “adulty” adult? Can I write a character who’s 40? 50? 60? How old am I?
All of this is to say: you can’t base what someone is or is not “allowed” to write about on a background that may or may not be real. No matter how good your intentions. And I get it - this usually comes from a place of well-meaning. You’re trying to protect marginalized groups by stopping privileged people from trampling all over experiences that they haven’t suffered. I get that. It’s a very noble thought. But you can’t require a background check for every fic that you don’t like.
If you say “you can only write about rape if you’re a rape victim,” then one of three things will happen:
Real survivors will have to supply intimate details of their own violations to prevent harassment
Real survivors will refuse to engage and will then have to deal with death threats and people telling them to kill themselves for daring to write about their own experiences
People who aren’t survivors will say “yeah sure this happened to me” just to get people to shut up
Has that helped anyone? I mean really - anyone??
So now let’s get to point #2: is your baby in the bathwater?
If your intention is to protect marginalized people from being trampled upon, stop and assess if your boot is the one that’s now stamping on their face. Find your baby! Is your baby in the bathwater? Which is to say: find the goal that you’re advocating for. Now assess. Are you making the problem worse for the people you’re trying to protect? Does that rape victim really feel better, now that you’ve harassed and stalked them in the name of making rape victims feel safe?
Let’s say you read a fic that contains explicit sex between a 16 year old and a 17 year old. Is this okay? Would it be okay if the writer was 15? 16? 17? Should teenagers be barred from writing about their own lives, and should teenagers be banned from exploring sexuality in a fictional bubble, instead of hookup culture? Is it okay for a 20 year old to write about their experiences as a teenager? Is it okay for a 20 year old to write about being raped at a party as a teenager? Is it okay for a 30 year old? How about a 40 year old? Is it okay so long as it isn’t titillating? Is it okay if taking control of the narrative allows the writer to re-conceptualize their trauma as something they have control over? Is it okay if their therapist told them that writing is a safe creative outlet?
Is your author dead?
Is your baby in the bathwater?
Now let’s take a hardline approach: no fanfiction with characters who are under 18 years old. None. Is the 16 year old who really loves Harry Potter and wants to read/write about characters their own age better off? Should they be banned from writing? Should they be forced to exclusively read and write (adult) experiences that they haven’t lived? Will they write about teens anyway? Should they have to share it in secret? Should 16 year olds be ashamed of themselves? Should we just throw in with the evangelicals and say that the only answer is abstinence, both real and fictional?
Let’s say that no rape is allowed in fiction, at all. None. What happens to all the hurt/comfort fics where a character is raped and then receives the support and love that they deserve, slowly heal, and by the end have found themselves again? Are you helping rape victims by banning these stories? Are you helping rape victims by stripping their agency away, by telling them that their wants and their consent doesn’t matter?
Is your baby in the bathwater?
Fandom is currently being split in two: on one side, the people who want to make fandom a “safer” place by any means necessary, even if that means throwing out all of the marginalized groups they say they want to protect - and on the other, people who are saying “if you throw out that bathwater, you’re throwing the baby out too.”
The whole point of fandom is to be able to explore all kinds of ideas from the safety and comfort of a computer screen. You can read/write things that fascinate you, disgust you, titillate you, or make your heart feel warm. This is true of all fiction. People who want to read about rape and incest and extreme violence and torture can go pick up a copy of Game of Thrones from the bookstore whenever they want. Sanitizing fandom just means holding a community of people who are primarily not male, not straight, not cis, or some combination of those three, to higher and stricter standards than straight white cis male authors and creators all over the world.
There is nothing you can find on AO3 that you can’t find in a bookstore. Any teenager can go check out Lolita, or ASOIAF, or Flowers in the Attic, or Stephen King’s It, or Speak, or hundreds of other books that have adult themes or gratuitous violence or graphic sex. The difference is that AO3 has warnings and tags and allows people to interact only with the types of work that they want to, and allows people to curate their experiences.
Are these themes eligible to be explored, but only in the setting of something produced/published? Books, movies, television, studio art, music - all of these fields have huge barriers to entry, and they’re largely controlled by wealthy cishet white men. Is it better to say that only those who have the right connections to “make it” in these industries should be allowed to explore violence or sexuality or any other so-called “adult” theme?
Does banning women from writing MLM erotica make fan culture a better place?
Does banning queer people from writing about queer experiences make fan culture a better place?
Is M/M fic okay, but only if the author is male? What if he’s a transman? What if they’re NB? Who should get to draw those lines? Should TERFs get a vote? What if the author is a woman who feels more comfortable writing from a male character’s perspective because she’s grown up with male stories her whole life, or because she identifies more with male characters? What about all the transmen who discovered themselves, in part, by writing fanfiction, and realized that their desires to write male characters stemmed from something they hadn’t yet realized about themselves?
How can we ever be sure that the author is who they say they are?
Who is allowed to write these stories? How do we enforce it?
Is it better for none of these stories to ever exist at all?
Have you killed your author?
Have you thrown out your baby with the bathwater?
i saw some comments on tiktok where people were talking bout how they found tumblr too hard to use and part of it being that there was no lack of dates so “what if you reblog or like something from five years ago?!”
buddy… we have posts circulating still from 2011, its literally just how it is
That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

So, I have pretty crippling ADHD to the point that I can't think of a single aspect of my life it hasn't influenced. I also have a shiny medical diagnosis and have since I was seven. I'm in my 30s now. Yet in all that time, with 20+ years of therapy, lots of different meds, and a shit ton of the "why can't you just______" thrown at me by family and authority figures, it wasn't until recently that I truly grasped what time blindness means for me, an ADHD sufferer (yes I am going with sufferer cuz it makes me fucking suffer) in daily life. There's no Later with ADHD. If you know anything about ADHD, you know there's really only things that have happened, what's happening, and an idea of things you want to do with no concrete reality of future things.
And there's lots of cute things you can do to try and fight this. Lists, alarms, clacky bracelets with tasks on them. But all of these things imply that I, the ADHD sufferer, have enough executive functioning to remember to do them. Guess what? I don't. I have next to nothing and I'm lurching from impulse to impulse like a drug addict stumlbing towards a hit. Now, why's this matter? Because sometimes, there's an impulse to Do The Thing that is an actual responsible thing - pick something up off the floor, wash a dish, run an errand, feed a pet, anything even remotely responsible really - just like the impulse to go get a snack or to watch just one more episode of that show that's holding me hostage.
And before I really admitted to myself that my ADHD was a fucking disability and that I was suffering, I'd feel that impulse and go "oh, that's good, I'll do it in a minute" and it would never ever get done. Now? Now I understand, that minute is NEVER coming. It's never going to happen because there is NO SUCH THING as Later for me as an ADHD person. There's only the impulse.
So what have I started to do? Well, it sucks and I hate it but I've started treating the responsible impulses like the candy/tv/fanfic/"ooh shiny" impulse as in a thing I must feed my nervous system the SECOND it happens. No wait, only do. And the thing is, once I started doing that, treating every responsible impulse with absolute immediacy because I had 100% accepted that Later does not exist, yall, shit started getting done. My room started being cleaner, the dishes started getting put away, my laundry started getting done. It was getting done in huge bursts at 2am but it was getting done because I had the thought and went "okay I'll do The Thing right the fuck now." Pausing loses momentum nothing's worse to an ADHD brain than lost momentum.
Of course, NTs tend to want you to do stuff on their schedule, their way. That's a problem of its own so to facilitate this coping mechanism I had to learn to say to the people around me "whatever it is you are asking of me will have to wait until I finish THIS TASK because if I dont see it through, it will NEVER get finished" when following through on the impulse to Do The Thing Right the Fuck Now. Because it won't. If I lose flow, that's it. It's all over. Even writing this post. I had the idea, and now I'm writing it. If I stop it'll be gone. It's a fucking superpower really, both great and terrible. The thing is that harnessing it takes some willingness and an acceptance that us ADHDs do not and will not EVER function in the time stream like other people and a willingness to say so.
Right the Fuck Now belongs to the ADHDs. It's really the only concept of time we truly have. No reason not to fucking use it.
Most of the “keep up the work after the protests have ended!”-type posts I’ve seen are mostly focused on like, reading Black authors and listening to Black voices and unlearning racism, and obviously all of that is absolutely vital - but no amount of individual self-reflection will be able to dismantle institutional systems of oppression. So I wanted to put together some resources for continuing to build a culture of noncompliance and resistance to the police and prison system even after things have calmed down
Know your rights. Giving the police any more information than you absolutely have to will never and can never benefit you or anyone else - positive evidence given to the police is regularly thrown out in court, whereas negative evidence will be used against you. Know what to say and what you have the right to refuse. You don’t have to answer any questions without a lawyer present, you don’t have to give the police access to your house or car unless they have a current warrant signed by a judge. They will try to intimidate you - learn your rights and don’t let up, don’t ever cooperate with the police
Don’t snitch. If you see someone breaking the law in a way that doesn’t hurt anybody, keep your mouth shut. If cops knock on your door asking you questions about your neighbors or anyone you know, don’t answer
Don’t call the cops. If you can solve the problem in a different way, do it. Cops have on multiple occasions murdered the people they were called to help (or bystanders) without provocation. Don’t be complicit in that. Learn how to handle situations as a community or with the help of qualified experts
When you see an interaction with the police happening, stop and observe. If necessary, film the interaction. Organize and work with groups such as Copwatch to observe the police and hold them accountable
Use proper opsec, especially if you’re involved with anything that might make you a target for the cops. Downloading Signal is a great simple place to start
Learn about jury nullification, and spread the word. When serving in a jury, you have the right to vote not guilty on a defendant that you believe did commit the crime but doesn’t deserve punishment for it. Don’t be complicit in unjust punishment
Refuse to do work for the police or prison system. Workers keep the world running and the state relies on our compliance to keep our neighbors under their thumb. We can shut it down
Continue to support bail funds, even for non-protesters. Cash bail is unjust, and people shouldn’t be in jail just because they can’t pay
Continue to support legal defense funds as well, such as that of the National Lawyers Guild
Write to prisoners, either by yourself or with groups such as the Anarchist Black Cross or Black And Pink, and organize/support books to prisons programs, commissary funds, reentry programs, and other forms of prisoner support
Organize and support community-run crisis response organizations like the CAHOOTS program in Eugene, Oregon or the Birmingham Peacemakers in my hometown
Here are some other organizations to join that are doing good work in this area:
Black Lives Matter is obviously a huge voice in racial justice right now. The list of “official” chapters on their website is very incomplete, though, so you may have better luck doing a web search for “[your area] black lives matter” (beware of fakes though)
Showing Up for Racial Justice is another very active and widespread racial justice network
Critical Resistance is a grassroots prison abolitionist organization founded by Angela Davis
The Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement is another active prison abolitionist organization
The IWW’s Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee works with prisoners to organize strikes, phone zaps, and other actions combating injustice in prisons
Again, the Anarchist Black Cross does great work supporting political prisoners through letter-writing and more. The link I’ve been including is to an unofficial federation of ABC groups, though - there may be a group in your area that’s not part of that federation, so a web search for “[your area] black cross” may be better
Black And Pink is a prison abolitionist organization focused on queer people and people living with HIV/AIDS
Antifascism is of course an important aspect of racial justice and community safety. See @antifainternational‘s guide to getting connected to your local antifascists - though, again, beware of fakes (the “antifa checker” accounts on fedbook and twitter can help)
The police state and prison industrial complex rely on the complicity and cooperation of all of us to function and be effective. By building a culture of noncompliance and active resistance, we can drastically reduce the state’s ability to oppress communities of color. Don’t let the struggle be forgotten with the changing of the news cycle - keep up the struggle until all are free!
being gender nonconforming is great bc straight people think i'm edgy and intimidating but lgbt people see me and immediately think i'm friend shaped :)
Perhaps they never experienced it, and they think it is fake. Like, that it's all for show and that it doesn't exist. Perhaps they were taught that love is not love, it is just advanced selfishness. They are scared to admit that it might be real, because it would mean to them that they were not only wrong for most of their life, but also that they missed out on so much.
genuinely do not understand how people can hate love. like not even talking about romantic love but how so many people are cynical but all over there are parents crying with joy because their little kid is learning how to walk!! their daughter just won the soccer championship! one boy just made a lasting friendship at the skatepark and two people just realized they both like the same type of music and someone is brushing someone else’s hair so delicately and carefully it has to be love. how can you hate what life inevitably boils down to
This can be intersectional with other parts of the neurodivergent community but...
Having ADHD is like:
