Something something Crowley running away from problems but always facing his feelings head on and Aziraphale always facing problems head on but always running away from his feelings
When Eddie gets excited, he gets a bit overwhelmed. At least, that’s what Steve has noticed, with the way Eddie has to take a quick running lap, bounce up and down, etc. whenever he gets too happy.
Steve secretly thinks it’s adorable and tries his best to induce these little happy zoomies.
It doesn’t take much. Sometimes it’s just a small compliment such as, “That shirt looks nice on you,” that has Eddie bouncing on his heels and fidgeting with his rings with a smile on his face. Sometimes, Steve tries to notice something new like when Eddie trims his bangs or paints his nails, that makes Eddie flush red and mumble, “Yeah, I did,” before taking a quick walk around Family Video before making his way back to him.
This time, Steve isn’t really trying to get a reaction out of Eddie who is angrily storming around the break room of Family Video after Steve had seen his face upon entering the store and ushered him to the back.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Eddie mutters out, running a hand over his face. Steve sits back quietly, letting Eddie go on a little rant. “He said, we were allowed to have the basement for our campaign. All of it. Then, Ted Wheeler in all his glory suddenly says that we’re too loud, and we can’t do the campaign at their house anymore. I mean… it’s one more session! He could’ve sat in that damn recliner and shut him mouth for one more session! Fuck.”
Eddie groans dramatically and sits on the ground, head in his hands. “I don’t know what to do. It’s summer so we don’t have access to the school. And I can’t risk breaking in and having them take away my well earned diploma. Plus, my trailer is too small, and no one else has the privacy of Mike’s basement. We’re done for!”
Steve shrugs, seeing a clear answer to the problem. “You can do it at my house. My parents are never home, and I can stay in my room for as long as you need.”
Eddie’s head snaps up. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah,” Steve says, not really sure why he’s so shocked.
Eddie stands up quickly. “You’re positive you can deal with all the Hellfire members in your house?”
Steve nods. “I’ll even buy you guys pizza if you want.”
“Buy us pizza…” Eddie mumbles under his breath in disbelief. “Steve Harrington, are you granting me permission to use your house for Hellfire Club meaning hours of us yelling maybe even late into the night while we play our nerdy game?”
Steve nods and shrugs again. “Yeah. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Not that big of a deal?” Eddie repeats, once again in disbelief. He slightly smiles. “We’re going to be able to complete the campaign.” He bounces on his heels excitedly. “We’re going to complete the campaign!” He runs up to Steve and hugs him tightly, jumping up and down, successfully jostling a laughing Steve in his arms. “We have a place to complete the campaign!!”
Eddie puts him down and pulls back with a big smiles. “Thank you! Seriously thank you. This means so much I could just-”
Before Steve can react, Eddie is leaning forward and pressing his mouth against his in an enthusiastic kiss.
Eddie pulls back quickly and puts his hands over his mouth in horror. “Oh my gosh. I’m so- fuck. I’m so fucking sorry. I just got uh…”
Steve waves him off as Eddie backs as far away from him as possible. “You just got excited. It’s okay.”
It’s okay as it can be considering that Steve really wants to kiss Eddie again although he’s not sure what that really means. But suddenly the urge to make Eddie happy makes a whole lot of sense.
Shit. Okay. He can work with this.
He glances up at Eddie who looks petrified in fear. “I just got excited…” he whispers out.
Steve slowly makes his way to him and puts his hands on his shoulders. “It’s okay, Eddie. Really. I uh, enjoyed it.”
“You enjoyed it?” Eddie echoes uncertainly.
“Yes. But if it was just an excitement thing, I understand.”
Eddie breathes out, “And what if it was more than an excitement thing?”
Steve takes a step further into Eddie’s space and tilts his head. “Then I’d ask if I could kiss you.”
Eddie swallows harshly and leans forward. “It was definitely more than an excitement thing.”
Steve smiles softly and asks, “Can I kiss you?”
“Yes,” Eddie says, slipping his hands into Steve’s hair as he moves forward again.
This time, Steve knows to respond, moving his lips against Eddie’s gently before tracing his tongue against the seam of his lips, exploring the inside of his mouth when Eddie lets him in.
When Steve reluctantly pulls away from the kiss to check on Eddie, he gets a quick nip to the lip.
Eddie flushes red. “So, I sometimes bite when I’m happy.”
Steve leans in again and whispers against his lips, “Thank god I’m into that.”
And he’s going to make sure to learn all the ways to elicit these responses from Eddie, but first, he’s going to learn all the ways Eddie likes to be kissed.
hey have i ever told you guys about torisai height difference
saiki- 5'6(changes if he uses transformatio)
tori- 5'10(unsure if thats with or without his shoes)
the isolation of still being in christian spaces (without a choice) and knowing you do not believe is... insane, honestly, something i wish more people knew about. because its not just being in church that feels isolating, it extends to the outside world.
anyone you talk to in your church obviously doesnt understand you. you constantly need to police your words around them to avoid saying something "sinful" or anything that can be read as liberal in any way. the mask must stay on at all times, and then when you're away from that space, you need to slowly adjust and become yourself again, somehow.
and in secular spaces, people just dont get it. which isnt always their fault! its just hard to explain to people who mean well, why "ill pray for you" sets you off and makes your heart race and makes you shudder. "why dont you love your family?? not even your sibling? damn." you see a coworker wearing a shirt with a bible verse on it, and run through several calculations in your head, none of them ending up anywhere because you distance yourself from said coworker, even though you know you should be talking to them before coming to conclusions. "hey, please stop talking about (criticizing) religion, its a bit of a controversial topic here. hope all that church stuff gets better soon though!" your friends do not understand what you are venting about, though they try their hardest.
you try so hard to find people who have left religions and/or cults in the real world. all you seem to be finding are people who are still in them, or people who have never come close to having an experience you have.
not to mention this all becomes approximately 100 times worse if you're queer.
when people talk about writing ‘the next Lord of the Rings’ they think it’s all about the wars and the languages and the histories, and Aragorn brooding in the corner of an inn and the Balrog roaring in Moria and the ruins of Isengard, and that’s how we got Game of Thrones and several dozen cheap fantasy knock-offs every year, not to mention whatever nonsense the Amazon show is going to produce
but Tolkien’s wars and languages and histories stemmed from his love of creating - of words and history and mythos - and that love infuses into everything he writes, and if you miss that then there’s no way in hell you can replicate it
and the people who want to write the next Lord of the Rings because they want to write the next epic don’t get that the story is about the hobbits’ soft and simple lives and Bilbo’s poetry and Sam’s love language being food and Eowyn discovering hope after depression and Gandalf making fireworks for hobbits even if he is a literal angelic being, and Aragorn weeping over Boromir’s body and Theoden’s kindness to Merry, and Beregond betraying his most prized orders to save Faramir, and the unlikely friendship between Gandalf and Pippin, and the even unlikelier friendship between Legolas and Gimli, and Sam and Frodo singing to each other in Mordor, and Boromir sacrificing himself for the hobbits, and Sam’s simple love for Rosie, and the restoration of the Shire, and the friendship of the Fellowship surviving down through the ages, and peace after war and hope in darkness, and the love between a gardener and a gentleman pacifist being literally the only thing that saves Middle Earth
and that is why people who try to recreate Lord of the Rings by starting with war always get it wrong. you have to start with the love, or it’s nothing: just another empty history
My biggest Rick Riordan pet peeve (I love his books but I have many many gripes with some things…)
Uh Apollo isn’t the god of fucking rock n roll stars and ‘bad’ poetry. That’s Dionysus. Apollo is the god of ballet, of studied poetry, the kind that has rules and form while Dionysus is poetry that says ‘fuck you’ to all that and scribbles on a page. Apollo is the god of ballet, a type of dance so grueling and studied that there are schools recognized for their disipline all over the world… Dionysus is the god of breakdance and dubstep not becaus they are any less hard but because it was born on the streets and taught there still. Apollo is the god that showed Michael Angelo wisdom while Dionysus drove Van Gogh to paint a night with stars no one had ever seen before and who drove Pollock mad with drink and who showed Dali that dreams could be painted. Apollo might have inspired Mozart to learn piano and read musi but it was Dionysus who drove him mad with creation.
Apollo and Dionysus are two sides of a coin, of art and genius, of academia and emperial learning. Apollo is the god of rational thinking and order, appealing to prudence and purity. On the other hand, Dionysus is the god of irrationality and chaos, appealing to emotions and instincts. The Greeks did not consider the two gods to be opposites or rivals, although often the two deities were entwined by nature. In fact, Dionysus’ temples were always built next to Apollo’s as you cannot have one without the other.
Also, it is Dionysus who is the literal god of theatre, not Apollo.
I do genuinely believe that the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (and arguably the Zelda franchise as a whole, though i myself have played literally none of these games) is closer to fitting the description of ‘Tolkien-esque Fantasy’ than most other movies/shows/games/books etc that claim that label
Like, compare this post by tumblr user wufflesvetinari, which makes an important point about Tolkien’s worldbuilding, and also lives in my head rent free:
and then these quotes from Jacob Geller’s “Every Zelda is the Darkest Zelda”
and his conclusions about the messages in Zelda games are thematically very similar to the through-lines about friendship and love in LOTR, and what a lot of authors miss about what makes a fantasy story personal and memorable:
“A world without joy and humor isn’t a compelling world to fight for” is exactly why there are so many pieces of fantasy media out there that just feel like carbon copies of each other (i’ve seen many posts that explain this better than I can though I can’t find any specific ones at the moment, just know that I didn’t invent this thesis). You’ve got the cool swords, you’ve got the wizards and the spells and the battles, but first and foremost you need the LOVE.
Hello! Has anyone written a fic inspired by your kid!Jon time travel AU? (if you allow that kind of stuff? Or are you planning on writing for it?). I'm obsessed with the AU, it's so lovely and unique! Love the idea, love the art, everything, perfection *chef kiss*. If such a fic exists, could you maybe tell us where to find it/drop a link? Thank you for your art, it always brings a smile to my face. Have a great day!
I'm gonna be honest,, I just read fics of the kid!Jon time traveller theme and I got a bit shook when they were all unfinished and I was craving for more. I just started doodling my own version to cope, one with a much more light-hearted and funny tone
And hoping that maybe my drawings might inspire tma fic writers to write more "jon time travels to his 8 year old self" fics,, i love the theme so much i dont mind reading it again and again
ALL IN ALL THIS IS JUST ME HOPING PEOPLE CAN GET INSPIRED BY MY DOODLES SO I CAN CONSUME MORE KID!JON HEALING FICS BAHAHHA IM SHAMELESS I KNOW
(i cant write my own because my thoughts are all over the place ksdjLKSKJDL i prefer drawing short snippets through comics)
ANYWAY, here are the fics that got me hooked:
1.) Too much time by Hix (180k+ words) - angtsy as fuck,,, super slow burn when it comes to jon’s relationships with others,, my fave one so far. Jon has his memories intact but elias doesnt 2.) Time is Hard by Serazimei (130k+ words) - a bit more light hearted than the first fic,, friendships are formed faster and there are a lot of sweet moments. Elias is forced to remember what he did to jon but has no plans to end the world after
3.) The Timeline of Theseus by Applea (90k+ words) - Jon doesn’t remember anything at all but is still powerful. Elias keeps him around because of his abilities 4.) A break in the clouds by Ash_ Rabbit (107k+ words) - here the real Elias keeps his body and Jonah is in James Wright. His interactions with Jon are so adorable hngg
Hiya! I started listening to the Lost Terminal because you mentioned it on here. I'm a few seasons in and really loving it. My friend is looking for some new narrative pods and I know you listen to a bunch. Got any suggestions? They can be finished or ongoing.
Oh do I! Have a couple, in alphabetical order:
Absolutely No Adventures - An outright pratchettesque fantasy parody about a (very) Chosen One who has studied the art of baking instead heeding the call to adventure and refuses to go on any quests.
Care and Feeding of Werewolves - A (in-universe) podcast addressing current events and issues in the (American) paranormal community, hosted by a witch and medical practitioner. Has very good plot and worldbuilding.
Folxlore - Queer horror podcast set in Glasgow. Excellent show. "This apartment complex is very haunted, extremely cursed, and it sometimes randomly shifts to an eldritch nightmare realm. Everyone here's queer though, including the building itself. 4 stars out of 5."
Gabriela & The Inn Between - A recent botany undergrad takes a job as Innkeeper at an inn with very strange and unusual guests. Cozy and low-stakes.
Gastronaut - Set a couple hundred years from now, a food journalist travels from Earth, then Mars, then a distant space colony. He's pathetic but in a good way. Excellent food descriptions, nice anti-capitalistic and anti-colonialist themes. Higher stakes and fewer steaks than expected.
Ghost Wax - I've always disagreed with the idea that necromancers are always evil. This show agrees - it's a horror podcast about an ancient necromancer solving supernatural murders by interviewing the victims. Very thrilling. Many feels.
Icarus Rising - Queer airship pirates! Stow-aways! Rebellion! Chases and Thrills! High-stakes drama and action among the clouds! An adorable ship cat!
Kalila Stormfire's Economical Magick Services - Very cool story about witches, fairies, werewolves, and more, a story about what makes a community, about modern-day working class neighborhoods, psychology, love, and of course magic.
Parkdale Haunt - This one I haven't listened to yet, but I've heard very good things about it. It's a horror show about a haunted house, set in Toronto, made with love for that city. Disregard this suggestion if you don't like Toronto, I've never been.
SCP: Find Us Alive - A podcast set in the SCP universe, about a site getting sucked into some sort of pocket dimension that keeps resetting in a sort of time loop. Very interesting cast of characters. Requires minimal knowledge about how the SCP Foundation works.
Starfall - Fantasy audio drama about the adventures of a theatre troupe that uses magical items and illusions in their work, and about a young warrior with mysterious powers who joins them.
Tell No Tales - Horror story about a company that specialises in removing ghosts from haunted places. The protagonist quickly becomes concerned about the ethics of that and tries to prove that they need to start treating spirits with the humanity they deserve.
The Antique Shop - Urban Fantasy drama about a student getting a job at the kind of antiques shop that you only find when you need to. Lots of cursed items. An excellent cat. Queerplatonic relationships.
The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality - An AI audio tour guide shows you various interesting exhibits and learns how to be a person. There's lots of feelings here.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris - Sci-Fi story set in the aftermath of a war between Earth and extraterrestrials. It's about outer space, survival, espionage, resistance, identity, friendship, found family, romance, and secrets. The intro song is excellent.
The Tower - A young woman climbs an ancient, unfathomably tall tower from a forgotten age. It stretches up into the sky, through the smog and the clouds. Very vibes.
The White Vault - Travel Is Not Advised. Very scary story about what's been hiding below the ice and the stone. What's been slumbering for ages. What's now beginning to wake anew.
I hope this selection helps! I have more, but I felt it would be better to keep the list short-ish.
I absolutely love and adore this take, it feels really like its the most real and accurate thing that would happen in this situation, the way you characterized everyone does it perfect justice, especially the way you flashed back and compared Molly losing Fabian and Gideon.
I love love love this so much thank you for sharing!!!!!
Molly is hurt.
She saw her third son argue with his father and leave the house, never intending to come back.
Molly doesn't understand why he would leave? Yes she knows he had an argument with his father but he was in the wrong and Arthur....
Maybe she's not looking at this the right way. Maybe she's not looking at all.
A year and a half has gone by since Percy left the house and the Weasleys live in fear and in separation.
Atleast Bill and Charlie send regular letters.
Bill and Charlie did leave, yes but that's just their wild side. Percy on the other hand was the last one she expected out of all her children to leave home. And the way he left! If anything she had thought the twins would be the rebels.
She thought Percy leaving would have an effect on the family, a change in their dynamics, a conflict but there just wasn't.
Noone besides her cared.
And that scared her like no other.
She had been observing her children but they seemed to show no sign of any kind of care for Percy. If their regular insults of him were anything to go by.
The twins maybe the least. Fred and George seem to send him hate letters or that's what she thinks they're doing. She has not the slightest idea about how they are going about the whole thing.
She had overheard them plotting to send some potion to Percy and then she marched right into their room, claiming to know what in Merlin's name were they trying to pull. To their credit, they were ashamed that they were caught, yet not ashamed about how they were going to send something dangerous their brother!
Molly let them off easy. She shouldn't have but in the midst of a war, punishing them wasn't exactly an option and even if she did, it wouldn't heed any consequenses, would it?
Ron doesn't look bothered either about him leaving. It feels like Ron knew this would happen. Percy did love Ron, more than Ron could ever imagine. She remembers young Percy holding Ron and helping him with his nightmares, how he would lull Ron asleep. He would sing the sweetest lullaby!
Times have changed, haven't they?
Molly really didn't have anything to say. Ron never confided in her. She doesn't really know how Ron feels, he's never been the one to share his feelings, unless it was anger or hunger. Ron's found a new confidant in Harry and she couldn't be happier that Ron has a friend, even then she's afraid that Ron doesn't care about Percy and would refuse to believe that he's his brother.
Oh what's she talking about! He already refuses to acknowledge that Percy's his brother.
She had heard him say it, not only to Harry but to the twins and Ginny as well. Her children think that she's hard of hearing, but she isn't.
It's not fair.
Even her darling Ginny slowly succumbed to her brothers' opinion. Ginny quick to defend Bill but never to defend Percy. She did care in the beginning but now, she sides more often with the twins.
She didn't care either.
All the gifts that Percy had given her from a handmade book to a bracelet were thrown away. More like given away for charity but for Ginny, they were thrown away. Percy had written a book for Ginny, where she was a princess. He used to read it to her every night. She always used to sleep after he read it to her.
And now all that remains of it are memories. Memories that they wish would disappear because of their hatred of him.
Maybe the worst of them all was Arthur.
Arthur did not see any error in his actions or words. Molly had tried multiple times to to approach the topic to Arthur but everytime Arthur was furious and quickly shut her down.
They worked in the same place for Merlin's sake!
A year and a half and an argument that hasn't been resolved. Molly would think that by now either one of them would have gotten over it but it surely doesn't seem this way.
Arthur and Percy were similar, maybe only in physical features to the rest of the world but to her, she saw that it was their similarities that drove them to clash against each other. Angry and stubborn and an ego that needs to be fed.
Molly remembers the first time Percy got glasses. He came home, screaming her name in an urge to tell her something.
"Look Mum, I look like Dad now!" , he had told her proudly teeth sparkling and glasses too big on his nose.
"He insisted on getting those glasses", Arthur told her as he kissed her cheek
And she could see why, Arthur had the same glasses. They did look like each other except Arthur's hair was straight.
Where had that adoration and devotion go? How did it disappear so quickly?
Molly knew Percy wasn't the only one to blame, ever since Arthur had that fight with Malfoy in the shop, it looked like Percy had started to distance himself from his father.
Arthur for his part didn't understand the problem either, but laughing at Percy's expense with hsi other siblings were bound to make matters worse.
How did Molly not see this coming? Had she been so blind to the animosity in her home?
Molly understood sibling fun and rivalry quite well. She had 2 brothers of course.
She would have done anything to bring them back.
But her children wouldn't.
That thought unsettled her deeply, it made her feel fear, she didn't think was possible.
With those thoughts in mind, she set dinner for her family. She called her family down, Ginny and Ron bickering and the twins sniggering.
Arthur, exhausted approached the table as well.
3 spots remained empty.
1 spot that isn't supposed to be.
Molly ate in peace, trying to enjoy but her stomach wouldn't let her. She was worried.
Her children on the other hand were loud and bubbly, talking while eating.
Unsuprisingly, they started making fun of Percy, but in a hushed voice so Arthur couldn't hear. This wasn't the first time they had done this either. For a brother that they despise, they do talk about him more than Bill or Charlie.
Somehow they thought that their mother was deaf.
Well, she wasn't.
"Oi Fred, did you send Percy that "potion"?", Ron asked
"No, Mum interupted us before we could"
"Pity, well you could try agin tonight", Ginny had replied.
"Tell me again, what does the potion do?", Ron asked as he gobbled the potatoes on his plate.
"Well it's supposed to put you into a deep slumber and make your roam in your knickers", George had replied snorting into his hand.
Molly stopped eating. They weren't actually serious are they? They couldn't be.
Or could they? You really did fail as a mother didn't you?
Muriel's voice echoed in her head.
"That's absolutely splendid!", Ginny had remarked.
Even your daughter agrees to this insanity.
Molly had, had enough.
She might be termed as a bad mother for this, she might be out of her mind to do this but she had, had enough of this.
"ENOUGH!"
Her voice had caused all the seated members to flinch. Everyone's gaze was on here.
"'I'm tired. Tired of trying to understand where all this hate towards your brother is coming from."
"Molly what-"
"Please let me speak Arthur. I'm not hard of hearing, I can hear you planning pranks and now I hear about you 2 trying to comatize him?
"Mum-"
"NO. I've had it. I'm trying to understand you because I'm your brother but you as well as I know, a war is coming. A war takes thing. It took my brothers. Do you really want Percy dead?"
There was silence at that word - Dead. But the silence made Molly uneasy.
"Would you really not care if Percy died?"
Everyone bowed their head down in shame, even Arthur who avoided looking at her.
They didn't care if Percy died.
"Oh", Molly gasped.
They really didn't. She had been so blind.
Fabian and Gideon, she missed them, even if they annoyed her, they loved her and she loved them.
Her children just don't love Percy.
She didn't realise she was crying until Arthur called out to her.
Arthur so similar to Percy, yet so different. Arthur didn't care either. He never wanted to talk about him, never about the argument. And it turns out he doesn't care either.
Molly remembers her brothers' body, blood and blood. Oh so much blood, blood that stays no matter how much you clean. Blood.
It was the day after the funeral. Molly couldn't think of anything else besides Fabian and Gideon, how they wouldn't see their new nephew or get to be uncles to Bill, Charlie and Percy again. How she would never be able to hear their voices again or see their smiles.
She would do anything in this world to get them back again.
"Mum?"
She turns around to see young Percy with his hands behind his back, looking at her with concern in his eyes.
"You didn't eat anything so I made a sandwich for you!", a proud Percy presents a cheese sandwich for her.
Molly takes it, she hasn't eaten anything since yesterday, she just doesn't feel like it.
"Do you not like it Mum?", Percy asks.
"Of course, I do, I'm going to eat it now", Molly tries to smile at her son but fails miserably.
"I'm sorry about Uncle Gideon and Fabian, Mum. It wasn't right", Percy's voice becomes low as he says this.
"No it wasn't."
"But you still have to eat Mum! You have a baby! A baby needs nutrition!"
"Nutrition, that's a new word."
"Yes it is. I learnt it all by myself"
"You're my smart boy, Percy."
"I'll always be your smart boy, Mum."
And he is. He's so smart and she was so very proud but he's gone.
And maybe part of it is his fault. But that doesn't mean that they're completely blameless.
For the first time, Molly looks.
And she doesn't like how it looks. But it's the bitter truth she hasn't allowed herself to see. She sees the divide, she sees the family broken, something she convinced herself not to see.
If it was anyone else instead of Percy, would her children care?
They would.
And that makes all the difference in the world.
Molly leaves the Burrow. They plead for her to stay but she doesn't listen anymore. Where was this pleading when it was Percy?
She leaves and maybe that's for the best.
OK, I know I know my other fics are left buuuuuuttttt I'm writing them as you're reading this. Anywayyyyy have this oneshot, which I'm not sure is good really..... But I tried.
This isn't really bashing? I mean I'm trying to keep it realistic and this seems like the best way. You can assume whatever after the ending, it's open.
Have a good day!
