“Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.”

— Bessel van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

We fold the sheets as we argue facing each other, we eat soup in identical bowls, shes sitting on the sofa while i sit on the floor looking anywhere but at each other. I listen to her talk softly to my niece a minute after she scolds me for not ironing her clothes properly. And yet the sadness i feel can only be healed by a mothers love. Its sicken and sadening.

Having a father is like you're the worst man I've ever met my fondest childhood memories include you you treated my mom horribly you are trying to be a good person you're evreything I fear in a man no man will ever protect me like you do why do you hate women but love me?

complicated relationships with your parents are like. you cut up fruit and bring it to my room without me asking. i can't remember the last time you told me that you were proud of me. you told me i wasn't good enough for you but i'm not even good enough for myself. your hugs feel like coming home. i can't tell you anything that happens in my life. i doubt myself every day because of something you said to me when i was eight. would you like to hear about my day? please don't ask me about my day. i miss you even though you're in the next room. i wish we didn't live together. i've never loved or resented anyone as much as i've loved and resented you. are you okay? are we okay? are we ever going to be okay?

why are books so expensive all i want is to be lost in another world with haunted old houses and coffee shops and vintage aesthetics and identify with the slightly twisted, mysterious and melancholic characters whose traits i subconsciously adopt lmao

I was reading about Francis Crick and James Watson’s discovery of DNA in 1953…and admiring Santiago’s beautiful drawings of neurons…and Alan Hodgkin et Andrew Huxley’s mathematical discovery of calculating how action potentials propagates along a neuron…I couldn’t help but think how romantic it all is. To me it’s so interesting learning about the process of discovery. It’s incredible because all these people were just like us—students. It’s romantic because it’s human—a human experience—an insatiable thirst for knowledge, curiosity that knows no end. A perseverance to succeed. The ultimate quest to generate a novel idea before anyone else does. How can anyone say that science is not poetic? Science is poetry written in a different language, an esoteric one at that. But poetry nonetheless.

Look at you comforting others with words you wish to hear.

the mood swings have been insane lately. one okay productive day costs me two weeks of grief and apathy and anger. hot girls get it

That best feeling where you’re like, “I love books. I wanna read all the books. I just wanna spend all my time immersed in all of the books.” And then you inhale and just get that feeling of peace and anticipation and slight anxiety but it’s okay, because you love the books and no one can take that away from you.

This is a pro-choice blog.

It’s an I wanted this baby but at my anatomy scan I found out my baby will die after it’s born blog.

It’s an I’m not financially, mentally or emotionally stable enough to bring a child into this world blog.

It’s an I can’t live with the result of my sexual assault blog.

It’s an I miscarried but the fetus will not evacuate on its own blog.

It’s an I will die if I carry this to term blog.

It’s an I don’t want to be fucking pregnant blog.

It’s a pro-choice blog.

If you see this decision as a win, educate yourself. People with uteruses WILL die. And if that’s okay with you, don’t claim you’re pro-life.

Oh, and a big, fat FUCK YOU.

“There’s an opposite to déjà vu. They call in jamais vu. It’s when you meet the same person or visit places again and again, but each time is the first . Everybody is always a stranger. Nothing is ever familiar.”

Okay so I'm angry now and just have to say this.

PERIODS ARE NOT SEXUAL. TELLING YOUR KIDS ABOUT PERIODS ISNT GROOMING WTF. TELLING YOUR KIDS ABOUT WOMENS HEALTH ISNT SEXUALISING THEM
