Let it be known that I will interpret red team calling Philza dad as a symptom of purgatory madness.
The bolas see Philza and all his knowledge and how he congratulates them when they good job and their little gas-mask covered dehydrated brains short-circuit.
Every tiny ounce of daddy issues, or daddy kink, or even a smidge of religion tangles around the idea of thisâŠpowerful source of wisdom and encouragement.
They call him Dad casually, but it MEANS something. It means SO many things.

Carre: [After saying absolutely nothing for 20+ minutes] Bolas and dick.

In my head, when Phil joined the call today to check on his team, he had been watching them all and speaking through crows that perch on people's shoulders like giving advice for the enchantments for Cellbit, or directing people on what to do like Charlie and Jaiden, or was circling overhead like with Foolish and his duel with Etoiles.
Just checking in on his team, making sure they're alright, keeping them calm and encouraging them, saying he's proud and to let them know they're doing really well and to keep doing the thing and not to stress out

it's still insane to me that phil logged on at midnight for him after a charity event, and spent a solid hour pulling up the streams of his team members and actually coaching them in mining strategies, and how echanting works, and checking foolish's pvp against etoile and giving him pointers, and the best ways of gathering resources and like.... fuck man, he's just so GOOD
and then after that, whenthey already had that mentality of at least getting all the resources, Carre logs in -who they were all sure wouldnt come back- and his mere rpesence motivates them SO MUCH that they managed to grind out a win by 3% in the last 30 seconds
LIKE. that's CRAZY.
Thinking time thinking time. Philza guiding team Bolas yet not physically being there has me braining but I have class in 10mins so i need to be quick.
Philza hasn't been really doing much really, mostly because if stream times and taking acre if the rest of his team an what not. And he's only been on one day but.
But.
What if its because he physically can't? His wings are fucked and he doesn't have his backpack anulymore so his balance is FUCKED. He's alright enough to run and do light work, but fighting is off the tables. Some days it's hard to even get up.
Can you imagine how helpless he feels? Because he's philza, a caretaker. The one almost everyone turns to in times of need, the reliable one, the one who can protect them. He should be able to protect them.
But no, he can't, because his wings are fucked and he can barely stand straight. In this position hes vulnerable and basically useless. And with the added weight of being leader? Oof.
But in his own way, being leader helps, even if it's stressful. Because if he can't move properly, at least he can contribute somehow, guiding his teammates and providing his endless old man wisdom and knowledge. It makes him feel lighter, even with the added burden.
The rest of the team constantly reassure him and voice how they appreciate him- because they absolutely would be lost without him lol (I mean have you seen them? Charlie literally asked for a guide on how to minecraft lol). The team don't view him as a burden at all, and are extremely grateful for him. They even made a cane for him to make it easier to move around. It was hard for Phil to accept the help, but he eventually accepted it thinking that he would be more of use this way (and it warmed his heart. A lot. Man's a softie)

team bolas winning again by waiting until the last few minutes to turn in the global tasks is such a good strategy (and yes, it's a strategy not a bug or an unbalance), contrary to some other team's thoughts.
AND! they are actually working as a team. phil's the early bird gathering the resources & supplies, with foolish helping later in the morning, bagz, jaiden, & cellbit later in the evening, and carre at the end of the day. all of the team members are contributing to the end goal of the global tasks, but are also doing other things on the side, like foolish building out the castle.
if anything, the other teams have something to learn from the red team & their teamwork... /rp ofc
q!Phil is kinda avoidant, and I love that for him.
He seems like such a righteous, strong character, right? The wise crow, the Angel of Death, but also a papa. You look at him for five seconds and immediately see a warrior turned father of two who's doing an amazing job and still has his morals and priorities straight. Cellbit (ooc) once commented on how in control Phil seemed that one time when he and three eggs were attacked by the code (he was this đ€ close to aheart attack) and I haven't been able to let go of it since, especially considering how Cellbit immediately proposed that Philza should be the leader when they had to choose one and everyone agreed. Mr Philza Minecraft is respected and trusted. He is regarded as a strong ally, a formidable opponent, and a force of nature. He is mild and giggly, he loves and hates fiercely, he is calm in the eye of a storm and reliable.
He also relieves himself of even minimal undesirable mental strain without second thought.
He doesn't want to kill other people and doesn't want to know that they would kill him without hesitation, so he avoids them like the plague in hopes that it saves him from the reality of the Purgatory.
He sees the task to kill Pierre and refuses to complete it and initially runs from Pierre to avoid the fight.
He doesn't want to think about Etoiles and what him stabbing Phil in the back means for their friendship, so he turns into a ghost and prays no one finds him.
He feels like an underdog, surrounded by much stronger Green and Blue teams, the players of which are akin to sharks that smell blood in the water. But those were his neighbours just three days ago. Why are they out here, thousands of blocks away from their bases, in his back yard, killing their friends? Badboyhalo and Tubbo lose his trust during the first day, and so he rejects the complexity of their relationship and refuses to hear them out or sympathise. If they are here, then they're out for blood. If they try to talk to him or his team, they are weird. If they try to explain themselves, then they are making excuses that fall on dead ears anyway - he won't hear them out unless he is literally trapped in a conversation with them and he will probably refuse to contact with any of his other friends while they're in the Purgatory.
And then there's his team.
You see, Phil might be the democratically elected team leader, but he isn't really a bossy type. Phil fights exclusively to defend himself or his team and he doesn't cross his lines and that means that he is a good man. And, like, he isn, it's just that his teammates aren't and he really does not care.
(Tubbo sounded regretful, at least. But Tubbo is an enemy and a backstabber, and he was making excuses anyway, because if he wasn't, then Phil is not actually a good man)
If Cellbit starts plotting to kill someone, he will laugh or look away or pretend he wasn't paying attention. If Charlie proposes an effective, but brutal strategy to eliminate their opponents, he will give a cheerful non-reaction or jokingly state what he thinks on the matter and he won't help, but he won't exactly stop him either - if it works, it works, you know? He wouldn't spawn camp someone, it's bad manners and annoying as fuck, but if it's funny then he will giggle at Charlie's story until he hiccups.
If his team dogpiles a member of opposing team, then well, Philza wouldn't do it.
But his friends just can't help themselves, you know?

also phil was ABSOLUTELY the best choice for the leader of the red team. everyone wanted him to be their leader and he's supportive of his team members, cares deeply for all of them and is doing as much as he can to make sure they're all taken care of. at the same time he's able to match their level of absolute chaos and and while he's just as hopeless as the rest of them he is Still able to offer them that spark of motivation that they need to keep going. everyone was down in the dumps at the beginning of day 2 and then carre came back to the server and phil popped into vc and gave them guidance and reassurance and they are DOING BETTER NOW!!! theyre not as hopeless anymore!! they're going out and doing wacky shit and inconveniencing others in the best way that they can. the game is DEFINITELY biased against team bolas but they are doing everything they can with the cards they've been dealt and there is no one better to spearhead their efforts than phil
I feel like people unconsciously exclude Carre from team Bolas but It feels like Carre holds the hope of the red team. Carre was on for the first half of yesterdayâs session and they started off catching up to blue and full of hope. They were popping off specially once Carre took down the blue one by one. Then Carre left and their hope started to trickle down until it was all gone and they went full blown crazy. Today, everyone on the team joined with absolutely no hope and was fully determined to just fuck around and accept that a win is not gonna happen. Carre joined later and then they began popping off. Carre joining with Philâs guiding voice that kept the group going, all hope has returned. They even fucking won.
When the group is full of hope, Carre leaves all hope leaves with him. The team starts off with no hope and Carre joins, all hope is restored. Carre is based af
This group might not be the strongest but theyâre the most tight knit and loyal to each other.
team Bolas/red team is aptly named, as they are the living definition of "Fuck it, we ball"
Against all odds, teams stacked against them, points so low their bar initially could barely be seen, and varying levels of crazy amount the characters, they pulled through and WON. and the best part about it, they had fun while doing it. It wasn't serious feeling pvp and roleplay, it was "hey what if I take their guy so they can't do missions", do it, and laugh at el q's utter confusion and gaslighr him on multiple levels. It's "hey wouldn't it be funny if I chased down el q naked, covered in mud and grime, while making demonic noises". It's hey, let's go explore this cave together and get utterly lost, but reunite eventually with much more than we entered with.

And yet they had Phil in the call coaching them and helping them with the basics of minecraft
And yet Carre logged on and was the MVP with doing his tasks and mining and making sure they were okay at global
And yet Charlie absolutely fucked over the Green team by KIDNAPPING THEIR MISSIONS VILLAGER
And yet they went try hard in the last 2-3 hours and turned in 80% of the global tasks
Team Bojas Rojas forever dude. The power of friendship and Chaos will fuck them over and yet help them win (even if its a moral win)
red team purgatory day one
half of red team isn't here, nobody knows how to actually PLAY MINECRAFT, and the only person remotely good at pvp here is philza. Carre carries everyone and is off doing his own thing. Even IF the other half of the team is there, the only person i can accurately gauge the ability of is WILBUR, and i have zero faith in his skills lol. Everyone is realizing how much they're going to have to stream, and some will have to change their schedules in order to play effectively. Charlie doesn't stream for 5 hours, but he has to be here for all of this, and it becomes VERY CLEAR, VERY QUICKLY, WHY HE DOESN'T. His voice is dead and he is unravelling at the seams. He hates it here more than anyone. only half of his breakdown is a joke. Cellbit and Slime had ENOUGH and just beat each other with sticks. They're devolving and screaming about how much they hate this and they're manic and their arms feel numb and tingly and badboyhalo keeps killing them and they keep dying and life hates them. Jaiden told badboyhalo to kill himself. In a fit of rage they declared that they no longer care about the eggs and they'd rather just go home. They're planning on logging in on Monday only to build a house and start Egg Island Survival LetsPlay where they make an Emerald Empire and only respond in Villiager Hrmms. now they're sing/screaming as their base burns around them, and i can't tell what they're supposed to be singing but they kept repeating "say something I'm giving up on you" and someone started playing the Living TombStone FNAF song. Phil got a globe and gifted everyone a fidget toy to spin and they're just sitting and spinning. Baghera just realized that Phil already had all the saplings they need and she wasted her time, so Phil took off his armor so the two can could fight. Baghera lost even though she had a diamond sword, so Phil just let her kill him so she can be happy. Corpses scatter across their yard. They're killing each other. I started typing this with 20 minutes left and I'm witnessing the longest fucking 20 minutes of my life how is there still 7-whatever minutes left??? CELLBIT JUST CONFESSED TO THE MURDERS AND THEY'RE CONFESSING TO THEIR SINS NOW???? I CAN'T TELL IF CHARLIE'S CONFESSION ABOUT JUANAFLIPPA AND THE CODE IS CANON???? Charlie suggests a cannibalism arc and everyone wants to go absolutely FERAL and cellbit it trying to act normal about that idea and kinda fails at it. And it all ends with everyone being banned to enforce the 5-hour rule. We're Free...for today. And despite this, they don't want to change teams and they're actually looking forward to suffering with friends :) ...nevermind they're planning on selling wilbur to get a better advantage.

Something I gotta give props to Red Team/ Team Bolas is that even though they are doomed, they all are on the same page
After the first day, Etoiles mentioned and some people here said that it was kinda rough in the beginning for blue and green team, especially when picking their leaders.
Blue has Tubbo, Pierre, and Bad which are three people who would want to be leaders/know how to do things. And Tubbo and Bad having beef in the past probably didnt help.
Green team has Forever, Bagi, Etoiles, and Quackity who are again are people who want to be leaders/know how to do things. But also add Max and Antoine who can be silly, but also know how to do things, it probably got messy (keep in mind that i only heard from other ppl)
Then we have Red team, who knows they are fucked. They have Philza, Baghera, Cellbit, and Foolish who are great leaders, but they know that this is survival/PvP. If I remember right that they were kinda like âuh so Philza or Cellbit?â and was the first team to pick their name and leader.
Then after that, they all communicated and just let each other do their thing which I think really helped. Foolish mentioned this after with Tina that they didnt try to tell each other what to do or become actual leaders. They just were like âhey imma make some bread.â âOkay im in the ocean looking for shipsâ etc etc
Also Slime being a strategist and jumping into other peoples calls was so smart and playing to his element. And as soon as they realized that Carre was a god at PvP, they cheered him on and Cellbit helped communicate with Carre more clearly. Philza using his Minecraft knowledge and scouting for world generated boats and stuff to get more loot and telling everyone.
They all let each other do what they want and played to their strengths. It probably helped that it was a small team and in terms of lore, the characters had things conflicting with each other, but they still respected each other highly.
And when it came down to them fucking giving up, they were 100% on board and even wanted to change their skins and just roleplay it out. They stated over and over again, they didnt want to break up the team at all. They know they were fucked, but didnât want anything to change.
I need to watch the other Povs to see the other teams, but goddamn. Team Bolas my beloveds. I hope they fucking lose it and get worse <3

(TW: temporary character death, spoilers for Purgatory Day 1)
Philza Minecraft runs and he runs and he runs. The apples are in his pocket and the sword is in his hand and Charlie Slimesicle is at his side. There are people here - green - and he quickly counts three, four, five - Charlie moves to intercept, and Philza swings by the merchant.
He hears the scream and shrieks and bitter words as his friend his killed behind him, but is too busy, too busy, got to trade, got to trade-
He gets the apples in, and he turns, and there is Bagi, right next to him.
It's not a fight worth fighting; he turns and he flees. Out through the doors, over the stones. Bagi is screaming for backup behind him and he does not think as he tries to escape. It's hard, it's so hard to run, without the backpack to help him balance, without a cane to smooth his path, without the crutches he should probably be using but this is a /death game/ and such an obvious weakness will kill not only him.
But he's unbalanced in a fight, too, and five is not a number he can take, so he ducks and he runs and he prays and he prays.
He leans to far forward.
Stumbles.
Twists.
Binds the fall in an attempt to look intentional; it's not that Philza Minecraft tripped, it was a dramatic turn to face his opponent.
He lands a few hits, moving quickly in what looks like fancy footwork but is in truth an elaborate dance of trying to regain his footing in the sand. As he does he spots Etoiles and Fit approaching - a little too early he turns again, and he flees, Bagi just clipping his arm as he does.
Maybe, maybe, he can make it; there's three enemies at his back and a desert before him and his wings flutter in an attempt to stabalise his footing as he runs. It's normal, he reminds himself, for those with wings to be unable to fly. Normal, normal, normal-
He over balances again, throws a few blind swings and wishes a cane were not a liability if he cannot have his backpack back.
Etoiles is close now - he hits him with his blade, a slash across his spine, across his wings. It stings and it hurts and panic builds in his throat. His wings, his wings, already damaged and now a blade at them again sends his mind spirally and spiraling and all Philza can do is run.
He knows Fit is lost to the bloodshed like so often before, so he tries for Etoiles. Turns, looks him in the eye, tries to say something but he can't catch his breath and has to just keep on keep on rjnnjng. The panic builds and builds in his throat as Etoiles either does not notice or does not care about the look that he sends.
He's going to die. He's going to die, out here in the desert, by a hand he trusted - one who promised to come if he was in danger, to have his back in any fight, just hours ago - and he's going to do it alone. Charlie is dead, his team are so far, and they might respawn but Philza knows that death is death is death is death is-
Is the end.
So he's running again, using cobble to try delay, making mistake after mistake after mistake but all he can think of is the cold embrace of the void and of leaving Chayanne and Missa and Tallulah without him and of the agony it will bring and he /has to run/.
He sprints and he flees and he is hunted across the sand, too panicked to find his footing, too desperate to slow down. Arrows whizz past and he cannot take Etoiles alone in an even fight what is this with the three against one! He thought they were friends, he thought they were friends, he thought they would at least let him escape now he's fled so far across the sand.
He stumbles
His ankle twists
A sword cuts through his back and he crumples to the sand. Desperately desperately he continues to try and scramble up, away, or even to fight back.
Again the blade comes and he drops his sword to shield his face as he feels himself start to fade.
"Gg," he hears from Etoiles, just like this was a stick fight, just like Philza - if he could have could his breath - would not have been screaming or begging for his life.
For the life he has no more.
Void takes him, and Philza remembers not even how to scream.

The void is gracious, the void is sweet, the void is agony but where the void and his beloved meet. She kisses his forehead and takes his hand, but rest is denied as he returns him to the fight.

Philza respawns screaming, sobbing in fear. Wild eyed he twists, arms raised to defend himself and there -
There is Cellbit, arms raised and expression confused.
"How," Philza's breath is heavy. "How long?"
"Seconds," Cellbit replies.
His back still smarting, Philza nods, and leans back. There's no injury there, but he can feel the blade on his back, between his wings - slashing and scarring and fucking them up even more. His wings, his wings, already fragile and hurt and broken and now he feels the knife cut in them.
He grabs one, pulls it around himself.
Nearby, he can hear the sound of Charlie typing something. Philza ignores Cellbit's concerned looks, breathing heavily and taking out his communicator.
An argument brews in general - he sends a reply before he can even think.
He doesn't want to think, he can't think, he has to - he has to -
Get the team back together, find potatoes, get the quests, save the children, save the eggs and save his teammates.
One breath, two breaths, he can feel the blood already dried streaming down his back.
Three breaths, four breaths, remember this world has respawns, dumbass, you were always going to be fine - one death isn't the end here.
Five breaths.
Straighten up, crack your spine, raise yourself back to height.
"Okay," he swallows back his panic, leaves it in uneven breaths and sparking eyes. "Okay. Got it in at least; I'll go looking for ships."
"Alright," Cellbit replies. "Stay safe?"
"Always do. Keep an eye for me here?"
He turns, he does not listen for a reply, and he keeps. On. Running.
Alright-y time for my thoughts on DAY 1 of the TWO-WEEK LONG PURGATORY EVENT
First off, while I did kinda assume things would become chaotic pretty quickly, I did NOT think it would be this quickly and I REALLY didn't think that PHIL'S team of all people would lose it first. Like it kinda makes sense with Jaiden, Foolish, and Slime there, but damn, everyone there just kinda went crazy like immediately huh??
I'm not at all surprised that BBH was the first one to start killing, and I'm not surprised that Tubbo got in on it too. (Nor that he wasn't that great at it most of the time lol)
And I gotta say it kinda SUCKED watching Etoiles and Fit, Phil's two closest allies thus far, just immediately kill him upon finding him. Like damn guys that was COLD.
And while I did like the overall event today, I do kinda hope it isn't like this the WHOLE time. I don't just wanna see them all immediately going for blood, I wanna see the problem-solvers solve the problems. Start trying to figure out who the Cursed Team is, what the deal with this place is, and what they can do to make sure that as many eggs as possible survive this. (I'm going to make a post about that pretty much right after this btw)
Overall I am REALLY excited to see where this event goes. I'm hoping it doesn't permanently tear apart all the teams and friendships we've seen built for about six months now. (I don't actually see that definitely happening, but let's be real, someone might go for that angst)
Bolas/Balls/Red team is the best team you can't change my mind
The Red Team is killing themselves. The Mods are spawning swordfish on top of pirate ships Philza finds. Charlie is only half joking. Cellbit hates fish. Foolish doesn't wanna be happy. Bagheera has offered her cat as a sacrifice. Jaiden as proposed they call cuddle together for the next 30 minutes on the island.
We really are the cursed team.

Update on Team Red: Everyone is meta gaming. They are also confessing ALL their sins. Cellbit has confessed to killing the Federation workers. Charlie has confessed to know that's not his daughter. He knows he's turning into the code. Foolish clogged Philza's toilet. Scratch that, Charlie actually pushed sand down the toilet before Foolish showed up.
Now they're enjoying each other's company on top of their nicely built house.
Everyone is excited to start a cannibal ark with everyone.
AND SOMEHOW? Green is still in last place.
Something about Chayanne telling q!Philza to protect Tallulah
Not because Chay is self sacrifice
This is him telling Phil directly at him that He is going to be okay and Phil needed to trust him and prioritize Lullah and Chay need Phil to trust him that he will also be alright
Chayanne loves his family his siblings and some may say he is a bit self-sacrifice I donât think that this is the case
The conflict that Chay always have with Phil Is that Phil is worrisome ( and for good reason ) about his safety
Phil have been more relaxing with him when Tallulah said to him that
âPhil needed to trusted Chayanne moreâ
And so he did but in his words that even if he trusted Chay he will always be worried about them
And This is the huge part that will make Philza have to trust his son
Not because that Chayanne need to sacrifice himself
Not because that Chay need to protect his siblings by giving his life
This is Chayanne needed Phil to trust him that they will meet each others again
And Phil will have to trust Chayanneâs word for it and go saved his sister his siblings, to prioritize the other that needed his help first
To place trust in each other
To understanding where each other comes from
And to believe in each other capability
People calling Chayanne a warrior and he is! but the important part about him being warriors
And all I feels like people forget the whole arc of him becoming little chef because Phil refuse to take him near any danger/dungeon for a long time!
qPhil even get called a âtoo strict fatherâ at that time because he simply doesnât want his son to die! Because he doesnât have much resources like other parents did!
And Phil did talk to his kid about this! He opening up to them telling him heart to heart of where he comes from
