Me as a fanfic writer
I made Klearrhishkminal in the game for fun a while ago, so I thought I ought to share her so you could all see why Turmeric was (and still is) so enamored with her. I mean, look at her, she's gorgeous!
She's a pretty important character for someone who's literally been dead the whole time- or at least, I like to think so, I hope that impression comes across. She is the entire reason for Turmeric, well, being called Turmeric for starters.
As a reminder, she is bronze and definitely not brass - if you think you've ever seen me describe her (or Ansur!) as that because they're similar words and I forgot to check and got confused, no you didn't, that never happened. Because then Turmeric's whole character quirk of having a fondness for lightning spells because her last girlfriend had lightning breath wouldn't make sense and nobody would pick up on it! (I do hope some people have picked up on that, it's a subtle little thing, but it's there. (because we carry those we love with us, long after they're gone, after all))
Me while writing: oh hell yes this is such a good sentence I'm the master of poetic imagery
The writing when I go back to edit:
Orin baldursgate is conceptually the funniest character of all time on account of simultaneously being a changeling whose whole thing is SHE COULD BE ANYONE AT ANY TIME who also she cannot refrain for more than 45 seconds from monologuing about getting into someone’s thoracic cavity with her teeth and lovingly tearing all the heart-muscle to pearly pink ribbons
I will always hold steadfast I don't care what people in my notes say: Astarion's pickup lines are very cringy, but they are really endearing when he's listing them off fully aware that they are cringy and bad during the tiefling party. Hence why I pick the "You're sweet, and sillier than I thought." option. He's just goofing around and having fun in that moment.
He made those lines up fully aware that they were going to be used on idiots in a bar and then Petras the Bitch stole them.
Like the whole "darling, I was just thinking about you" dialogue tree is 50% him believing that you are an idiot, and 50% him not realizing that people fell for his looks and not his stupid lines at the Elfsong.
The man's definition of poetry is "The Underdark's got it's upsides for a vampire. Or, undersides? Youibdjsja you know what I mean."
"came back wrong" what about Came Back Afraid. You used to be brave. Too brave maybe, defying the odds at every turn, a fighter, cocky, playing with fire, first to throw yourself at the enemy. Until one day it all caught up to you. You came back, somehow, but now you know all too intimately how it feels to lose, to die, to be destroyed. Now you flinch and freeze and cower at the slightest provocation. Who even are you now if you can't be brave? The grave may have let you go, but the mortal fear still grips you tighter than ever.
Shadowheart canonically beating up transphobes is an easily-missed yet iconic piece of her characterisation
Slight delay on the next chapter because I've been spending time with family - but it should be ready within the next five days!
I did find time to refine the structure of the upcoming chapters enough to confidently state we are about halfway through in terms of chapter count, however - meaning it should end at around chapter 16 (which is the same as more graves to dig, funnily enough. I guess that's the kind of story length I just gravitate towards?)
we shouldn't save marriage but we should save divorce
I write BG3 fanfic about having a bad time and learning to carry on anyway! It's good fun! And also devastating!
