THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1973) — Dir. Gordon Hessler
This is just as relevant for tumblr as for twitter, so I share it here. Fully agree
the number of spacecraft failures recently has been absolutely insane and it all comes down to tech bros barging into the industry going "it's not that hard wtf is nasa so bad" and then completely skipping out on any testing

So much of the worst dating advice comes from a place of assuming your partner is manipulative and deceptive and then trying to counteract that psychological warfare in kind. Anyone who is in a genuinely happy long-term relationship can tell you that dating should not play out like an episode of Death Note. At it's best, it's just two people caring passionately about each other in a deeply human and honest way. The really insidious part of this advice is that if you ever meet someone who does genuinely care about you and doesn't want to play games, you'll probably drive them away by constantly assuming the worst of them. In your efforts to defend yourself from dishonest and scheming people, you become the most dishonest and scheming person in the relationship.
i'm still mad about that post thats like "humans USED to be able to memoriize long epic poems, but we no longer have Bards so our memories arent as good" boy shut the fuck up. a good chunk of people i went to high school with had the entirety of hamilton memorized for fun and they weren't even autistic.
I actually enjoy celebs being here. You only thrive if you don't try.
Madonna is on here. Her posts get like, 60 notes. Is she trying to make it anything more than a feed/extension of her Insta, though? Nah. She's just here. You want to see a Madonna thing? You can find it.
Neil shares thoughts and answers questions when the whim takes him, billions-deep ask box.
Ryan Reynolds will thrive if he's just...that guy reblogging gifsets of himself like "haha you guys are creative".
Not to be cringe on main but you just have to be...not a glossy product of yourself, to maintain some kind of comfortable nook and easy back-and-forth with the userbase. When it works for the people it works for, it's quite enjoyable for everyone involved.
Like we've all known for years Hozier is SOMEWHERE around here, just reblogging pictures of moss. You go, you moss-collecting cryptid man.
100%. It's not the fault of mean feminists that men fall down these pipelines, but if we want to counter it effectively, there's no point in throwing more fuel on the fire. These pipelines depend on the opposing forces playing their part as they do and warping the perspective around it to confirm their own biases. Woman rightfully angry about interpersonal mistreatment uses cruel language in her own defense = see they ARE mean bitches who hate you and don't care about you. It sucks to have to care about it but if we want to make progress, we have to pay attention to the consequences of our language because it doesn't exist in a vacuum and is being both anticipated and accounted for by these pipelines.
And that doesn't even mean putting up with bullshit behavior from misogynistic assholes, it just means changing tactics for responding or disengaging with their game entirely if its not comfortable. They're expecting a mean shouting match to confirm what they already believe. In my experience, people usually thrown off entirely when you respond to their provocations with kindness or another subversive response.
Name-calling or yelling back is just part of the self-hating game to them. We don't have to play the game.
“maybe men wouldn’t fall down the alt right pipeline so easily if feminists were nicer” yesss women famously got our rights by saying “pretty please? 🥺 with a cherry on top? 🥺🥺🥺” and the men were really nice and said “omg yes of course 🫰🏻”
"everyone suddenly seems really stupid and aggressive" its brain damage from covid
"im sick all the time now and everyone at work is sick all the time" its immune system damage from covid
"im sick again, but i tested and its not covid haha" its still probably covid, rapid covid tests have been estimated at 30% positive accuracy by researchers who are factoring in strain mutation and user error
"no one can drive anymore, what happened" its brain damage from covid
"why am i suddenly mentally ill" its brain damage from covid
"i started feeling weak, breathless, confused, distracted, irritable and in pain but it was a while after i got covid so its not long covid" long covid sets in a random number of months after your covid infection and also asymptomatic covid can cause it
"ive still never gotten covid, isnt that great" unless you are an undiscovered genetic freak (possible) or youve been living in a clean room, you have had a covid infection. it may have been asymptomatic
"im sick but its from blood clots, heart disease, asthma, nerve damage, narcolepsy, etc" covid attacks the entire body and can cause all of these things as downstream effects
"ive already had covid so i probably have pretty good immunity by now" covid does not work like this. the more times you are infected, the more permanently injured you will become, and the more vulnerable to further covid infections and infections of all other viruses and bacteria
"ive been vaccinated so im safe" covid does not work like this. vaccination lowers your likelihood of developing severe infection, it does not protect you from contracting the virus
"well what am i supposed to do" wear a mask
