How to be an A* Student in 2025

How To Be An A* Student In 2025
How To Be An A* Student In 2025

2025 is the year of THE academic comeback, but it's not just a comeback, it's a full academic GLOW UP. The best part about these tips is that this is not meant to be short-term, this is meant to help you create long-term hot girl habits that will help you year after year after year.

Imagine being a student is like training in the gym: if you want to see long-lasting results, you don't go to the gym for a while and then drop off and get lazy, so why do we see studying as a long-term chore, when it's a long-term privilege?

So many people worldwide dream of having an education, but do we really want to waste it all by scrolling on social media and rotting in bed? I don't think so.

Get organised: Get your notes in order. Turn a subject topic into a cheat sheet or revision booklet. Update your notes after each class. Get your homework out of the way as soon as possible. Create a list of all your topics for each class and rate each topic Red/Orange/Green based on how confident you feel - when it's time to study, start with the red topics.

Create a schedule: If you like things being super organised down to the last detail, try time-blocking and schedule specific time slots to complete your tasks. If you like being more flexible and fluid, set subjects to focus on each day and write a rough to-do list (I set one main task per subject). Make sure you do the subjects that you hate more than you do the ones you like, revising is meant to be uncomfortable, that's how you train your brain and overcome challenges.

Stick to it: Use the Pomodoro technique if you struggle to sit down and start. Start on a 5-minute break to train your brain to slowly stop what you're doing and get started. I would recommend 25/5 repetitions but if you're like me and can deep work for hours with full concentration, do what works best for you but do not end up working for hours without breaks or water. Make sure you take breaks to move around, hydrate and rest your brain and eyes.

Just sit down to start: if you really struggle with procrastination, set up all your work, put your phone away, and just stare at your work - that always gets me to start working because I get bored.

Prioritise long-term gains: Top students focus on studying little and often rather than cramming the night before. This can be 1 hour a day for 5 days prepping for a test vs 5 hours the night before. If you have a period where you don't have any tests right then, but you know you have a long-term exam coming forward, why not spend just 15 minutes to make sure your notes are organised? Always think about the big picture. The topic might not be the most important thing right now, but you know it will be important in the final exam, so if you have some downtime, why not make sure you're confident in it?

Work-life balance: Whilst it's good to be an academic weapon, your social life doesn't have to suffer at the same time. This is why scheduling is so important - it helps you utilise your time efficiently, and limit how much time you waste trying to decide what to study, so you can have more time to spend on things you love. Dedicate 1 hour a day to something you love to do and make sure you do it!

Find what works for you: Experiment with different techniques. Just because one technique works for one subject doesn't mean it will work for another. Just because it works for even just one topic doesn't mean it will work for another. Don't be afraid to switch things up and curate your study habits to suit your tastes. Always remember - the only person it has to make sense for is YOU.

Let me know if you would like more tips or a more in-depth explanation about any of these! I am really passionate not only about education but also about how we can all harness it to become well-rounded people. I have also been a straight A/A* student my whole life so I have many tips to share!

Some distress tolerance DBT worksheets. It’s important to remember to only use these when you’re at the height of emotion and you need to bring yourself down to a level where you can actually manage the problem. If you use these when you’re able to manage the problem, they’re not useful and just a distraction.

the problem with looking for more antipsychiatry reading recommendations is that 90% of reading lists want you to read the two following books:

"psychiatry and psychology and drugs are bad because we are Not Meant to live like this; we must Return to a state where all these labels didn't exist and the human body was pure and natural and people worked hard instead of focusing on all this other suffering bullshit"

"psychiatry and psychology and drugs are bad because capitalism took the good and healthy Science too far and uses it for profit; psychiatric diagnoses are objective, correct and prediscursive illnesses that psychiatry is Oppressing instead of Respecting, and any questioning of those categories and their relevance is telling psychiatrized people that they're making it up and it's their own fault"

Glow-up tips that actually work from your favourite beauty girly (me)

Glow-up Tips That Actually Work From Your Favourite Beauty Girly (me)
Glow-up Tips That Actually Work From Your Favourite Beauty Girly (me)

Hot girls don't gatekeep, so here are some of my favourite glow-up tips that actually work. <3

Skin

Find a skincare routine that works for you!! It took me years to find mine, but now my skin is literally perfect. <3 (let me know if you guys want a detailed skincare routine!!)

Don't pick your skin, the less you touch your face, the better.

I believe ice rollers are bs…

If you struggle with dark circles, don't try fixing them through skincare. Most likely, the problem comes from your diet or stress.

Dry brushing is a game-changer!!

Use lotion after every shower and apply a body spray before the lotion is fully absorbed into your skin. You'll smell amazing for DAYS.

Don't try homemade skincare if you already struggle with your skin. I learned it the hard way, lol…

WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES

Hair

The more heat you use, the more damage you'll have.

SILK PILLOWCASES

Never sleep with wet or damp hair.

Stop buying cheap shampoo and conditioner, also make sure to check the ingredients!!

Some ingredients to avoid: Sulfates, Parabens, Polyethene Glycols, Triclosan, Formaldehyde, Synthetic Fragrances and Colors, Dimethicone, Retinyl Palmitate.

I trim my hair every 3 months.

If you have damaged hair, invest in some Olaplex!! my favourites are N4c, N6 and N7. <3

Diet

green juice actually makes you feel better. I make mine at home and LOVE it :)

Balance is key!! I swear by the 80/20 rule.

Drink more water, even if you think you're drinking enough. DRINK MORE

Keto is BS <3

Focus on eating more protein. Usually, low-fat products have more protein, so I just try to buy those, lol.

I eat gluten-free, not by choice… But it did clear my acne, so…

Take supplements, get a blood test done, discuss it with a doctor and start taking whatever they recommend. GAME CHANGER.

EAT MORE VEGETABLES and fruits.

Lifestyle

Focus on being more active, walk more, workout, join a club or sport, dance, whatever works for you!!

I aim for 10K steps, I live in a big city, so I usually walk more than that but still.

Hobbies that don't include screen time. Trust me.

Find your personal style and ALWAYS dress up. <3

TREAT YOURSELF. Buy yourself flowers, and presents, go to your favourite restaurants, vacations!!

Read more. As a classics lover, I can't imagine a life without literature, but even if you don't like classics, any book is better than no book!!

Take more pictures. I've noticed that I have become a lot more present since I've started taking more pictures!! highly recommend :)

I hate to say this, but getting up earlier is lowkey kinda great... been doing it for a few weeks, and unfortunately, I do feel better... they were right...

Get a cat. :)

Mindset

Stop assuming that everyone hates you, they don't, trust me.

Journaling, manifesting, law of attraction, affirmations.

one of my favourite affirmations: "if I weren't capable, the opportunity wouldn't have come my way; I belong here." <3

Stop hanging out with people who drain your energy

stop consuming media that makes you feel bad.

What would the highest version of yourself do?

If you change your mindset, you will change your life.

Romanticise every aspect of your life. <3

As always, please feel free to share your own suggestions and glow-up tips in the comments! <3

Challenging irrational thoughts

Step 1 - Identify the thought and if possible, why you’re having it.

The first step to challenging a thought is to identify it. If it’s helpful to you, consider writing it out.

Example 1: My friend doesn’t want to be friends anymore. I think this because we usually talk a lot more and lately they’ve been quieter.

Example 2: I’m a failure and can’t do anything. I think this because I messed up and got a bad grade.

Step 2 - Look for exceptions

This involves looking out for similar situations that had ended differently than is being assumed.

Example 1: This has happened before, and it turned out that they were busier than usual with final exams.

Example 2: When my friends get bad grades, I never think they are a failure.

Step 3 - Find evidence to the contrary

Example 1: Last week, she told me how important I was to her and that she missed me.

Example 2: I’ve done a lot of things successfully. I helped a friend through a breakdown yesterday. I got a good grade on another assignment. I passed my drivers test.

Step 4 - Replace it with an alternate thought

When it comes to an alternate thought, if you can put a positive spin on it that’s great. But I find that hard, so I try and find a neutral thought.

Example 1: It’s likely my friend has something going on and she will reach out to me when she’s ready.

Example 2: Failing one assignment doesn’t make me a failure. I’m not defined by any one thing.

Little things that improved my life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Little Things That Improved My Life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
Little Things That Improved My Life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Accepting my sleep schedule. I'm a night owl; I focus at night, I'm calm at night, I'm motivated at night. For a long time, I tried to fight this since everyone always preaches getting up early, but since I started accepting my natural sleep schedule, I've been feeling a lot better and have become way more productive.

"drink more water". TEA. Tea is the secret here. I will be honest, I hate drinking water; it doesn't matter if I have a cute water bottle or a cute glass, I still hate it. TEA.

Replying quickly. I used to be one of those people who get a text message and think, "Oh, I'll reply to that later", and then just forget about it entirely. Now, I text back as soon as I see the message. This has not only improved my texting anxiety (which I cause on my own by now replying and then feeling bad) but also deepened my connection to my friends. <3

Keeping my circle small and being okay with that. Over the past months, I've had this sudden urge to expand my social circle and get to know more and more people, especially after I moved in August. However, this quickly ended in what I like to call my "social burnout". I was tired, annoyed, and overwhelmed. It took a few weeks for it to settle, but I've come to the conclusion that I would much rather have a smaller circle of people who I trust and love deeply than a huge group of friends, and that's totally okay.

Wearing what I like. Even though I live in a big city, I'd still say that my style can sometimes be a bit more extravagant than what most people wear, another point is that I'm very uncomfortable with pants so I only wear skirts, which is also considered a bit odd where I live. But over the past years, I've come to accept that and have become so sure of myself and found such comfort in my style that I now just wear whatever I like, and it makes every day a little bit nicer.

Reading and writing for pleasure. Reading books outside of my studies and spending time researching topics that simply interest me is such a great way to calm your mind. Same for writing, I always like to say that to write is to think; putting your thoughts on paper in cohesive and well-crafted sentences that you can then reread and think over again is such a liberating thing to do.

Reaching out more. fuck the whole "double texting" and "no contact" thing. If you want to speak to someone because they mean something to you, then just do it. Unless they specifically asked for space, you shouldn't feel bad about wanting to be in touch with them. Many even really appreciate it when you show that you truly care. Let's stop the nonchalant act, and instead, let's face deep emotions and true vulnerability. <3

As always, please feel free to share your own little insights and things that helped you improve comments! <3

HOW TO STAY UNBOTHERED!

1. Never say more than necessary.

2. Don't allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence.

3. Lower your expectations from others.

4. Let your success do the talking.

5. 10 people 10 different opinions. Stop pleasing.

6. Remember your haters are your fans.

7. Don't be afraid to say "NO".

9. Know your truth and be okay with someone else not believing you.

10. Stop taking things personally.

• Let go of control: You can't control others' actions or words, just your reactions.

• Humor: Learn to laugh things off when appropriate.

• Set boundaries: Limit contact with negativity and prioritize supportive people.

• Communicate clearly: Ask for clarification Instead of assuming negativity

• Shift your perspective: Consider the source and if their comment reflects on them more than you.

• Focus on what you can control: Improve your own communication and self-care.

• Thicken your skin: Build strong self-worth and know your value.

11. Healthy detachment.

• Let people be who they want to be, then decide if you want them in your life.

• Trust that rejection is always redirection to something bigger and better.

• Some people are only meant to help you grow, not be in your life forever.

• What if everything is falling apart to come together in a way you can't guess?

• Focus only on what you can control.

read literature. be present. make love. make tea. write a poem. cry. watch a sappy movie that makes you want to throw things at it. paint your nails. cook something. call your best friend. learn an instrument. wonder. take a bath. go for a walk. lie down on the grass. listen to the entirety of ur favorite album from 2016. take pics of sunsets. ponder. shamelessly dance in your room. curl up on your bed. make endless wishes to the stars twinkling in the midnight sky. think about nothing. think about everything. think about things so hard that you barely remember what happened moments ago and why you’re feeling the way you do

It’s crazy how life gives us the chance to hit the reset button whenever we need it. An everything shower can feel like washing away not just the dirt but the weight of everything that’s been holding us back, leaving us refreshed and ready to start again. Journaling lets us spill out our thoughts, reflect, and rediscover clarity in the chaos, while planning helps us take control of what comes next, one intentional step at a time. Every day is a chance to wipe the slate clean, set new intentions, and create the version of ourselves we’ve always wanted to be.

I just want to take this moment and say I'm glad you're here. As hard and as terrible the world might seem, it is equally majestic and beautiful, and I'm glad you have a chance to be here and see it and be a part of that beauty. Thank you for being you. Thank you for continuing to be here. I am immensely proud of you and all you've done.

Most anti phone advice is so inane and regurgitated to me but one thing I’ve been thinking about for days is “social media is okay, but the real danger comes in when you think your phone should be your go to during your limited pockets of leisure” like that’s literally the truest thing ever

Yes And No.

Yes and no.

Whether or not you have a partner at age 50 is no metric for wokeness. Yet some people do seem to struggle with the idea of self-love.

The problem stems from two places.

The first is that we generally understand love as a subject-object relationship. I love you, or I love lamp.

The second, as consequence, is that we attempt to objectify ourselves and then try to love that object in the name of self-love.

This is actually a form of self-harm, because perceiving yourself as an object is inherently problematic.

Some struggle with self-love because they feel unworthy—they have difficulty feeling love toward their objectified self. Others struggle because they become too attracted to their objectified self, in other words vain. That is the form of “self-love” that would rather bail than resolve conflicts, that prefers self-indulgence instead of growth.

I think it might be best to conceptually divide self-love into self-care and Love.

For self-care: eat right, sleep right, care for the body, cultivate and use your energies enthusiastically, and learn how to listen to yourself and others.

For Love: a flower is simply fragrant without aiming the fragrance at anyone. Notice the place inside yourself that feels loved and loving. Nurture the feeling and radiate it regardless of who is around.

At some point, most people stop growing. They settle into a comfortable identity, clinging to a fixed idea of who they are.

When this happens, any change — even growth — starts to feel like a threat. This is how people grow old without growing wise. Elders were once respected not merely for their age but for the wisdom living inside them.

If we resist the pull toward the comfort and security of a rigid identity, we open ourselves to ongoing growth. Even the smallest shifts, day by day, week by week, build toward something remarkable.

Just imagine what you could become.

btw you will miss this in 5 or 10 years. memory will smooth these circumstances down like a river stone, and you will find yourself longing for a shade of light or a moment of this particular innocence. you don't know about what happens next, and one day that will be the most alluring thing of all. don't leave it all for nostalgia. have a nice night now, whatever night it happens to be.

Maybe you don’t feel any hope for the future. And you want to give up. Even if that’s true, consider if you are curious about what’s coming?

Maybe that can be enough.

“People are inherently terrible” no!!! Have you ever seen a child wait for their friend while they tie their shoelaces? Have you ever known someone who would bring hurt squirrels and rabbits and mice to the nearest vet just so it doesn’t suffer? Have you seen someone grieve? Have you ever read something that hit your heart like a freight train? Have you looked at the stars and felt an unexplainable joy? Have you ever baked bread? Have you shared a meal with a friend? Have you not seen it? All the love? All the good? I know it’s hard to see sometimes, I know there’s pain everywhere. But look, there’s a child helping another up after a hard fall. Look, there’s someone giving their umbrella to a stranger. Look, there’s someone admiring the spring flowers. Look, there’s good, there’s good, there’s good. Look!!!!
