The idea that RBR is trying to get rid of Checo is already stronger, because it is no small thing. Checo literally dedicated almost his entire race weekend to sacrificing so that Redbull could collect data that improved both cars and led to Max's success (as confirmed by both Max and Horner!!) only for Checo's engine to completely die on him after moving up to P5. there is no reason the engine should have completely stopped after spinning out.

and then for horner to continually hang Checo out to dry and blame him for their problems and pressuring him saying that if checo left it's because he doesn't have the mental capacity to handle it. this team is sickening.

I don't care how exhausting it gets, I will never stop defending Checo.

His car is actively working against him and his team (besides his teammate) aren't doing shit to support him or defend him from the media's blatant harassment or the racist and xenophobic remarks from other fans.

It's even more irritating when these are the same fans that preach about the importance of the mental health of drivers and then go and send threats and insults towards Checo for things that are OUT OF HIS CONTROL.

It's genuinely so disheartening seeing the way he's being treated by his team, the media, and F1 fans.

People have lost the concept of being responsible with their opinions and just fall for how criticism feeds into racism. They can’t look at a driver who already is getting bashed with unwarranted hate, racism & xenophobia and then keep their opinions to themselves. Then they defend themselves by saying they’re just giving honest criticism, while spewing hate and bigotry in the same breath.

“I can’t keep defending—” then don’t say anything. All you’re doing is opening the door for bigots to flood your comments and bash on them, feeding into racism and making POC F1 fans unsafe in this space.

On this blog, though we are very biased because we love our favorite drivers, we are realistic about a lot of their flaws. There are honest critiques we have regarding all the drivers of color, but we keep them to ourselves because we don’t want to give bigots an opportunity to express their hatred on our posts.

We can have discussions about honest and realistic critiques once we expel racist biases among fans

I don’t know why people question Checo’s contract at all. literally no other driver would put up with being the team datamonkey the way Redbull does with Checo making him sacrifice this many races just because they can’t figure out why their car sucks.

just saw that video of james vowles laughing at Alex for going to a temple to pray about his bad luck race streak and I’m so heartbroken for him. POC and their connection to spirituality is such a sensitive topic to me and Lewis already gets a lot of hate for his beliefs, the criticism around nonwestern religions is even more racist/xenophobic and that makes me so sad. No one should be laughed at for their beliefs especially by their boss in front of the press. Alex took it in stride but I’m so sad that’s so upsetting.

media day and they are already asking weird questions to checo about his contract. as he has said, he hasn't ever shared his contract details publicly and he isn't ever going to do that (he doesn't have to). it's so weird that everybody is so quick to blame checo, and to say that he is doing awfully and that he should be removed etc, but there is absolute silence on the racism he faces, the weird comments made by his team, the rumours spread about him, the team ignoring him and his issues with the car (and apologising to him), so many things.

it's so irritating to see these repeated questions of "is your contract still there" or whatever they ask. don't want to imagine how annoying it must be for him to repeatedly answer the same question without cursing or being "rude" or sounding like he doesn't want to be there or reaching whatever standards they have for him.

genuinely I am worried about Max and Checo in Redbull and how they will be treated going forward after Max's newest championship win. The win was something that they as a team desperately needed and you could tell Max was so relieved, but also the way both drivers talked about the win afterwards was so ominous. Max practically yelled to the heavens he won despite the awful car and team management, and Checo emphasized the same for Max while also being disappointed about the failings of the strategy chosen for him (even though he pulled impossible levels of overtakes and tyre managements on this track)

I'm worried that all concerns that Max and Checo have about the car will continue to be brushed aside, because a dangerous failing car and a mess of a team that has to buzzsaw their rear wings is of no concern when Max still wins championships. They'll keep having those two race those death tractors until something horrific happens. In the meantime they're happy to have Checo take the entire brunt of the racist xenophobic attacks despite Max constantly defending him.
