The moment John and Arthur enter The Managers office were told something very clearly. He looks and sounds EXACTLY like Kayne aside from the color of his suit. To the point that the boys think they were sent to Kayne in death. This tells me one thing very clearly: This is still a specific mask of Nyarlathotep. Not his core being himself. Or a different mask.
I've seen a lot of theories that this is Nyarlathotep himself and Kayne is a rambunctious kid who is off making trouble but that doesn't seem to be the case. Nyarlathotep has at least 1000 avatars or 'masks'. Hell there is an entire CoC game that takes a year of regular play minimum to get through and it only has you dealing with 3. These masks all look very different from each other. Some human, a lot not.
The body that Kayne is in, is one of those masks. It's the one Nyarlathotep is wearing right now. It's still him in there. Because The Manager looks exactly like Kayne we know that he's still that mask. He just made different choices, just like Kayne asked a different question.
I've also seen a lot of theories that add a layer of self loathing to him that pretty much every character in the show has. But I really doubt that's the case. Most of Nyarls masks aren't that manic or crazy. They're charming and put together, able to sway LARGE groups of people, in some cases entire empires. That shit takes boiling the frog, not dancing around in gore. The Manager comes across more like how his masks normally behave. And I've always felt that Kaynes insanity is the result of collapsing so many iterations of himself into one body.
I don't think The Manager is innocent and pure. Or wracked with guilt. I think he just knows this isn't going to go the way Kayne wants, and just like Arthur and John, wants to keep living. Nyarl keeps Azathoth asleep because he likes doing what he does. He's more than capable of being helpful when it suits him, and I'd bet that's what we're seeing here. Not guilt and self hatred, just trying to keep the status quo he enjoys quite a lot. Trying to differentiate from Kayne is just a way of distinguishing himself, they're identical otherwise. Even in behavior when he's not actively trying to stop it. I don't think he's pure and good and feels guilty. I think he just doesn't want to die either.
I fully believe Mr. Faust is the most disturbing part of malevolent. By a long shot.
It’s not just the idea of cannibalism or murder or Arthur’s barbarity caused by tkiy that makes it so disturbing. It’s John that makes it so disturbing. It’s Arthur’s ability to see the death of corpses he touches. The fact that every single time Arthur touched Faust to take a bite of him, John had to watch his death over and over just so Arthur could eat. A constant reminder that the worst, most powerful parts of John caused this, and that in a way, Arthur’s violence was his fault. It’s like the king is telling John that he can’t escape what he comes from, his true nature.
And whenever Arthur does his corpse touching ability, it sounds like it hurts John by the way he talks. So what was he doing while Arthur ate Faust? Was he silent? Was he begging Arthur to stop? Stopping means starvation. This is why Faust is the ultimate punishment to me because it effectively dehumanizes Arthur and destroys John’s self image and faith in his friend, which are key parts of their individual characters.
are the requests specifically for Oscar?…if not….
noel hug for these hard times please </3
Dishing out so many podcast men hugs in the tumblr tonight
If it's ok to ask, can I have a John wishing me luck on finals/moving please?
And finally the motivational John with an extra hug :3
so you’re telling me when parker and arthur first met, parker saved arthur’s life. then, the last thing parker ever did was try to save arthur. he died trying to help him.
harlan guthrie im under your bed.
Theory about Lillith: She killed Arthur's parents because they were going to sacrifice Arthur to her.
If it's alright, could we get a hug from Arthur and maybe some words of encouragement from him?
I completely understand if not. I just thought I'd ask
Motivational Arthur and a hug for the Arthur girlies out there !
My take on the ena trend featuring Kayne and the manager!!

John Wayne watching shit go down in the Waylay
(Spoilers for ep 52) but do you think that John, in his last moments with Arthur, realized what it was like for Arthur? To be blind? Do you think Arthur, limbless and useless, realized what it was like for John? To be a passenger in a body meant to be yours?
Genuinely distraught over Peter "Parker" Yang. This rough-n-tumble guy who, while physically intimidating, has a heart of gold. A working P.I. who was on a case and just happened to stumble into this drunkard in Jack's Bar, who seemed morose, who seemed like they needed help. And Parker helped him, easing him out of his shell, became his friend, and worked with him. He pulled Arthur Lester out of his self-hatred to help people, and in doing so, helped Arthur Lester himself.
He loved the guy. Brought him to his parents' house. ("They love you!") He's two thousand dollars deep in gambling debt and still bought his friend a piano because he knows he used to play. This man who sounds like he's inhaled more cigarette smoke than air wants Arthur to date his sister because it means they could be brothers. This man who tells Arthur that he's the brains of the operation, that once told him he was at bedrock, tells him to lighten up and not let the past drag him down. This man who knows Arthur doesn't like to be coddled, so he tells him what he needs to hear, but doesn't push too much.
This man who turned on the kettle to make tea for the two of them (how often did they do it? How often did they joke and laugh and start the day with a cup of tea before their first client?), who rushes to Arthur when he starts to shout, whose last words were, "Artie, breathe," who died trying to help his friend.
Parker Yang died from senseless violence from a being that did not yet have any humility or understanding of how precious life was, and Arthur followed him only a few seconds later.
I think about Darkthur…. Maybe once a week
i'm feeling very normal about the manager.
yeah he’s such a little freak (affectionate) ain’t he ??
⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ A LOUD SCREAM AT THE END OF THE VIDEO
My favourite moment 🙏🙏🙏

Oc animation 🌟 got hand injury :( drawing these guys to cope

honorary kayne:
Frankly shocked more people arent talking about the seemingly living piece of Lilith that’s inside Arthur’s arm. You guys all heard that happen right. You think that’s not going to have repercussions? If it doesn’t give Arthur a super power in the dark world my money is on a fucked up Dionysus revival situation.
For the warmup doodle ideas, can we get a tiny Yorick? Maybe John yeeting him out of a window or something similar
I smash brothered him I hope that's okay
Something something John being powerless to help the person who means everything to him. Something something his only agency and body parts beings ripped away from him. Something something John being put right back where he was with the witch. Being forced to watch Arthur be stabbed and cut open alive in a wretched parody of what John thought would be the last of his best friend. Watching be laid to the ground in a bloody mess. Head unbowed but forcefully pushed on his back with an exposed belly and a powerless pawn to the games of gods. And how John is right there beside him. Something something how he had to witness that twice in one episode. Powerless with no hand and no eyes. Begging in his own form of prayer to a god he doesn't believe in and fears. Do you think Arthur shut his eyes so John wouldn't have to watch him get pulled apart at the seams
Real confused about the s5 finale, what even is this????
