@peggynet | PEGGY CARTER APPRECIATION WEEK 25’ day 7: birthday extravaganza - peggy quotes
I conducted my own investigation because no one listens to me. I got away with it because no one looks at me. Because unless I have your reports, your coffee, or your lunch, I’m invisible.
it’s canon now- they met on a crowded street in 1944
Loki spoilers/theories under cut
You know how Peggy Carter supposedly made a cameo in Loki? I have a theory that the Peggy seen is actually the one from Agent Carter.
The theory is, since Steve was supposedly supposed to go back and stay with Peggy, that would mean Agent Carter never happened. It’s not canon. And neither is Agents of Shield. And since Agents of Shield was almost like a sequel to Agent Carter, it would make sense for the Peggy variant seen in Loki to be the Peggy of Agent Carter.
That‘s my theory. What do you think?
it just me or is that Scarlet Johansen making a surprise appearance in Agent Carter?
What better way to celebrate the anniversary of Michael’s death than by getting absolutely knackered?
It’s deep red rubies and bright diamonds, woven together in an intricate design. It looks dangerous. It looks foreign on her neck, dark elegance settled around her throat. Peggy thinks she could be wearing a snake around her neck and it would be less exotic.
my agent carter headcannon is that the New York SSR’s filing system is a god damn wreck because every time some fathead agent would ask peggy to clean up his filing, she just wouldn’t. she’s go to the filing room, but she’d just hang out for a few minutes and roll her eyes (she might have had a snack hoard hidden in an evidence box but i can’t prove that)
now flash forward to after season 2, peggy’s transfered to Los Angeles, and jack finally figures out what she’s been doing when he’s stuck on desk duty recovering from the gunshot wound. now, he uses the threat of having to reorganize the file room to get whatever he wants in the office. he hasn’t actually forced some poor agent to do it yet, but by god he Will get those files reorganized one day if it kills him. Krzeminski’s biggest surviving legacy in the SSR is how badly he fucked up the filing system.
something i find hilarious about the mcu is that in modern times the founders of shield are absolutely worshiped, to the point that jemma simmons freaks out about seeing something that peggy carter once held, and then you watch agent carter and find out that in reality the founders of shield were a gang of rage-filled, PTSD-riddled, disaster-magnet 25-year-olds whose top hits include kidnapping a man using a tranquilizer gun meant for koalas and then convincing him he has malaria, being reticent to help defuse a bomb because he has a souffle in the oven for his wife, literally moving across the country because he mistakenly thought his crush didn’t like him back, attempting to blackmail his only friend with information that wasn’t even true, and nearly accidentally committing mass genocide on the people of new york city because he couldn’t keep it in his pants
descends upon the cartinelli fandom from up high ayo anyone still alive over here?
i was rewatching agent carter and???? the queer vibes from everyone are just??? off the charts??? like, we have the obvious couple cartinelli, the qpr energy of dottie and peggy, the enemies-to-lovers dynamic with jack and sousa, the bi4bi GOALS that is ana and jarvis, the queer energy that oozes out of everything howard does,,,, no wonder disney canceled the show there wasnt a single cishet character there

In terms of Marvel’s universe, Avengers: Age of Ultron is pretty decent. Because Marvel has been pulling things off left and right throughout these years, any small dip downward will always be felt like a dip. For me unfortunately, Age of Ultron could not reach the heights that was Iron Man, The Avengers, or Captain America: The Winter Soldier, although thankfully it did not rise low like Thor or Iron Man 2.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, after the fall of SHIELD, Avengers Initiative was continued by Maria Hill under the wings of Tony Stark. They were looking high and low for Loki's Sceptre that was left on earth, and found it in a HYDRA base in Sokovia. They attempted to retrieve it, but they also faced something more: two "enhanced" people, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (although no one's calling them that). But wait, they're not the villain! The villain was an Artifical Intelligence called Ultron, almost unknowingly built by Tony Stark, who was hellbent on destroying the world like how ultrasmart AI sometimes do.
The movie was fun and exciting, for sure. There were plenty of action to be found in this film, as you would guess from a movie that has Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye together. After all, you can't really accuse a movie that had Hulk vs Iron Man's Hulkbuster Armor to be lacking action. The sequences were big and beautiful as always, and one thing I particularly liked was how determined the heroes were to keep civilians as far as possible. I even liked how they protrayed Scarlet Witch's mind-altering powers visually, she never looked out of place at all.
Despite all that, the movie's strong suit was always when the action stopped. The personal moments were incredibly the best in this film. Hawkeye, who was mostly mind-controlled in the first Avengers, had a lot of screentime dedicated to him and his (surprise) family, and it was sweet. We got to see a whole new side of Natasha and Bruce Banner as they found solace in each other. And Tony Stark? We found out that he was still an arrogant and a genius, as expected. It was always fun to see them hangout over nothing too, like how they did in the party with Thor's hammer (not a euphemism).
Unfortunately, I found the villain kinda meh. Ultron was a very powerful villain, and his very existence was supposed to change the world or something, but he was too strong, too fast, and too vague that it was hard to feel any particular emotion towards him. Mostly I was like, "What's with this guy?" wondering why he got so crazy and ended up with no satisfying answer other than a single Tony Stark's off-handed remark. Ultron was an underdeveloped villain, but the movie itself was already clocking at 2,5 hours that it was an understandable decision. The Vision was pretty cool, though!
And I am excited for the new generation of Avengers!
TL;DR With serviceable villain, Age of Ultron could not be an instant Marvel classic, but it was a spectacle like none other with excellent dramatic moments.
We have early release here (and I’ve seen it), but I’ll hold off the review until this week’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Stay tuned!
Marvel's Agent Carter is ending its first season this week and it's time for another TV Shoutout!
What it is about: Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) returned from the war and fighting alongside Captain America, to being a glorified secretary in covert agency SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) and she was none too pleased because of it. When Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) came calling about a raid on a vault full of his inventions, she decided to help her friend.
Why you should watch it: Because Peggy Carter kicks ass. End of story.
Well, not end of story, because what makes Agent Carter special is that it's also a rich period piece. When World War II ended, men came back from the war and women sidelined once again, so it was only up to Carter's determination to push herself above and beyond sexism of the era. Agent Carter is about her journey blasting through all the expectations of how a woman should be in that time. The show also have great, fulfilling script and 3-dimensional supporting characters all around, male and female alike; from Jarvis (Stark's original butler, played by James D'Arcy), Howard Stark, and the people Carter worked with.
For Marvel fans, Agent Carter acts as a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger and prequel to the others, so this is obviously for you if you ever wonder about what happened in between. Surprisingly, this season did not dwell into S.H.I.E.L.D and HYDRA (considering we know that Carter later founded S.H.I.E.L.D) at all, opted out instead for another "evil" organization as the villain, but the show is none the worst because of it.
Don't be intimidated with the ever expanding universe of Marvel Cinema though, Agent Carter practically have no direct connection to any previous movies or show, except maybe Captain America. Even then, it was only as an emotional basis for Peggy Carter (sobs!) and none of the plot directly related to it. The show is pretty much self-standing.
Who should watch it: Those who wants to see strong, well-rounded female and male characters, great action and spy-work, and just general 1940's period class.
Where you should start: Oh come on, don't be lazy ;) It's just 8 episodes so start at the beginning!
Status: It's first season is an 8-episodes mini-season devised to fill the slot of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D during hiatus. There are still no words regarding second season (fingers crossed), but the showrunners are up for it if opportunity arises.

pay your attention the logo on red car (Agent Carter, Season 2, Episode 5)
If I had a nickel for every time a cool, unique show I liked was cancelled before its natural end, I’d have AT LEAST 12-13 nickels, which actually is a lot, goddammit, this is some kind of conspiracy created by the nickel company to release more nickels

Me: *sees protagonist doing parkour, kicking ass, etc.*
Me: I want to do stuff like that! :D
Rational!Me: Dude, you can barely walk using a walker.
Me: But!
Rational!Me: No... Your physical therapist will kill you.
Anyway I miss Peggy Carter violently beating the absolute everloving fuck out of dudes with any object within her reach while upbeat jazz music is playing in the background
1) Mara Jade Skywalker. I will admit it: I LOVE Star Wars, and I’ve loved it since I was four. As an eleven year old I got into the Expanded Universe, and I immediately loved Mara. She’s brave, intelligent, independent, she kicks ass like no other, and she’s more than just a pretty face. Raised as a child by Emperor Palpatine to be one of his Hands (top assassins), she was entirely obedient to him to the point of trying to kill Luke Skywalker when he commanded her to; until, of course, she started to realize that Palpatine was nothing but a manipulative bastard, and then she ended up marrying said Skywalker later on down the road. (Luke and Mara are absolutely amazing together, and they’ve been one of my OTPs for over a decade now.)
2) Martha Jones. Seriously, though, I think the question to ask is what is there not to love about Doctor Martha Jones? She’s treated less-than-stellar by the Tenth Doctor, yes, but she adapts to this crazy life of time-travel so well (too well maybe), not to mention that she helps him out of the fire several times throughout her run. Have people really already forgotten the fact that Martha is the Woman Who Walked the Earth, stayed alive an entire year avoiding the Master’s efforts to capture her, and was the entire reason why the Doctor’s plan to end the Year That Never Was worked? (Also, she’s the only modern-day companion to have voluntarily left the Doctor, which I admire A LOT.)
3) Mary Watson. I seem to have a thing for the lesser-liked ladies in fandoms. Granted, I’m not normally a Johnlock shipper by any means, so I never had to feel like my favorite pairing was being threatened; but Mary was so much more than what she appeared on the surface. She’s multifaceted, she’s secretive, and I wouldn’t even necessarily label her as a Good Person-- but she is Good where it counts, she’s genuinely kind and caring to others, she tries her best to protect John and Rosie, and she and Sherlock have this amazing understanding of each other which I find absolutely brilliant.
4) Peggy Carter. Her name alone conveys how much of a BAMF Peggy is. ‘Nuff said.
(Seriously, though, I’ll have to do a full-depth analysis on Peggy at a later date, because usually all I can do when I think of her is incoherently flail, and I’ll need more than a paragraph to explain why I love her so much.)
5) Ellie Miller. I had a hard time deciding who I was going to put down on this list, Ellie or Beth Latimer. I decided on Ellie because I’ve made it no secret Beth is my absolute favorite character in Broadchurch, and I’ve talked about her a lot on previous posts. So here’s Ellie, the Detective Sergeant of Broadchurch who is the one who helped close three major cases, loves her sons more than chocolate, builds her life back up after it comes to pieces around her, and gives some truly amazing tellings-off when she needs to. And she threatens to piss in a cup and throw it at Hardy when he’s being particularly difficult, and if that isn’t legendary I don’t know what is. She’s all-around brilliant, and honestly one of the main reasons why the tv show works as well as it does.
These are just a few of my favorites, but this list is already a bit long, so part 2 is going to have to come later.
Peggy Carter and Ellie Miller are related. Just saying.
