AleRudy Getting Together Headcanons
Warnings: None Ships: Alejandro/Rudy A/N: Aro-spec Rudy? Aro-spec Rudy. Words: 1875
They've known each other for 20 years, and have been together for 15 of them, married for 10. The reason they didn’t get together sooner was because Alejandro was dating Valeria at the time but their relationship soured.
Rudy fell first, and he fell hard enough to bruise, but Alejandro fell harder.
Out of the both of them, Alejandro is the most emotional and Rodolfo… less so. He’s a little more emotionally detached.
It goes to say that Rudy absolutely positively adores Alejandro and loves him with his entire heart, but he’s just… not the best at vocalising it. Verbal and physical affection was never really a big thing when he was growing up, so he got used to doing other things to show he cared like acts of service or gift giving.
Rudy also grew up in a large family. Being the eldest sibling/cousin, there were a lot of times that he had to step in to stop arguments. He learnt how to keep a level head to try and avoid any worsening conflict. This ends up becoming a problem a little more into their relationship.
‘I love you’ is also something that Rudy struggles to say. Yes, he loves Alejandro, but to him they’re just words. Saying them himself holds no power or meaning. Not as much as the little things to show your love that you care about them– subtle things, like restocking Alejandro’s hair gel when he notices it running out. Making him his morning coffee just before his alarm goes off so he’s able to drink it while it’s still hot and before he even has to roll out of bed.
Expanding on Rudy being a little emotionally detached, as one can imagine, this caused a lot of arguments when they first started dating. It wasn’t an issue for when they were just friends because Rudy was already such a loyal friend to Alejandro there was no question with his feelings towards his then best friend.
Being in a relationship was a new territory for the both of them. Alejandro because Rudy was the first person he actually felt a deep connection to whilst any previous relationships were closer to flings than anything more. For Rudy, Alejandro was one of the first few romantic relationships he had ever had– if not the first.
So as time went on, Alejandro began to notice what he believed was Rudy’s… lack of attachment.
Again, Alejandro is a passionate and emotional man. He loves his friends, his soldiers and his family fiercely, but he sometimes expects others to show the same intensity.
So when Rudy didn’t seem all that enthusiastic in the first few months of their relationship, Alejandro began to believe the worst.
They had arguments here and there, as most couples do, but Alejandro reached breaking point around 3 months into dating. And thus their first proper argument as a couple happened. And it was bad.
Alejandro was furious beyond words, using his anger to hide the hurt he felt at what he incorrectly assumed was Rudy rejecting him for months. He would constantly say those special three words and only receive a smile in response or an awkward grimace and a swift change in subject.
He accused Rudy of not caring about him, given how little emotion he would show when they were together. He even brought up that Rudy only seemed the most romantic/emotional during sex. How he cradled Alejandro and whispered sweet nothings in the man’s ear as he took him apart and built him back up, made him whimper and keen in the dead of night.
This, of course, crushed Rudy.
The argument would then get worse when Rudy, without meaning it, would seem to undermine Alejandro and tone down any concerns he had when in reality he was just trying to calm him down the only way he knew how. Sometimes, Rudy would curse himself for having such a level head and occasional aloof demeanour as it never failed to make him seem all the more distant and closed off to those closest to him.
It’s during that argument that something finally gives in. As always, Alejandro is yelling, gesturing angrily and so violently that it almost makes Rodolfo flinch. Almost.
“If you don’t love me, just say it! I am sick of playing these games–”
Rudy’s attempts at calming his lover down only just seemed to add fuel to the fire. In the end, he sat resolutely in silence as he waited for Alejandro’s rage to simmer down. That was until something he didn’t expect slipped from his Colonel’s mouth.
“This is like Valeria all fucking over again!”
Rodolfo could handle being yelled at. He could handle hiding every flinch that wanted to escape whenever Alejandro got violent and began to throw the nearest objects to him into the wall (but never at Rodolfo– Lord knows Alejandro would never forgive himself if he laid a hand on the man he loved). He could handle the harsh glares and the cold shoulders that followed a few days after every argument. He could deal with those. He would persevere because he loved Alejandro. He just never said it.
But to be compared to that bitch was what hurt the most. Valeria– who had buried her perfectly manicured talons into Alejandro’s heart all those years ago and then ripped it to pieces when she yanked her claws out just to watch him bleed. Rodolfo knew that Alejandro didn’t mean what he was saying. He was too lost in his own rage to really think about what he was saying. Alejandro continued raving– mostly to himself now that Rudy had bowed his head to stare at the floor, shame and guilt eating away at his insides.
The argument came to a barrelling stop at the first sniffle that cut through the room. It was quiet but deafening to Alejandro’s ears and enough to make him stop his rambling and look at his boyfriend with panic in his eyes. He had wanted Rudy to hurt, yes, selfishly wanted him to feel the hurt he had made Alejandro feel these past few months— but he didn’t want this. Didn’t want to be the cause of the fat blobs of tears dripping onto the floor as the other man stared at it. His anger was still present, but it took a backseat as he rushed to try and comfort Rudy, his heart breaking when the other man held out a hand to stop him, shaking his head and denying Alejandro the right to soothe the hurt that he had caused.
“Rudy, mi amor, I am so sorry–”
“No.” Rudy whispered through his tears, stubbornly keeping his gaze on the floor just so Alewjandro could not see how deep his words had cut him. “You are right, I am just like–”
The speed and strength that suddenly seized him in the form of Alejandro’s hands clutching his upper arms startled him. He looked up with wide and wet eyes to see Alejandro almost exactly the same. His love looked so heartbroken.
“No, Rodolfo– Rudy, it was callous of me to compare you to that woman. Perdóname mi corazón, I may have been angry but that is no excuse to say that to you.”
“But–” Rudy’s mouth snaps shut when Alejandro shakes him, his earlier fury returning for only a split second before melting away into the most hurt he had ever seen on his Colonel.
“Escúchame– listen. Listen to me, Rudy. No matter what happens between us, you will never, ever be like she was. You are the most thoughtful, selfless, brave, beautiful man I have ever known..” Rudy opened his mouth to argue, but stopped when Ale shook him again. “I mean it, Rudy. I mean it.”
Alejandro, for all his training and status, panicked when his reassurances only seem to make the other cry harder. His fingers only tightened around Rudy’s shoulders, pulling him close and pressing his lips against the other man’s hairline.
“I love you.” Rudy whispered through his tears. Alejandro hated the way his heart skipped a beat “I love you. So much. So much that breathing is unimportant when I am around you because you always take my breath away. The sun rising is nothing in comparison to your smile. You are the man I would live and die for– the man I would start wars for if you only asked.”
Alejandro had been taken aback by his lover’s words. To hear him speak about him with such awe, such reverence that it would make God himself jealous. Rudy was a lowly disciple, willing to worship the very ground that Alejandro stood on like a man pleading for salvation. How… How had Alejandro missed the adoration Rudy had for him? And now he had gone and made the man cry like he had been rejected from the gates of Heaven.
“I'm sorry.” Rodolfo continued, “I am sorry that I have not said it enough. I am sorry that I do not love you the way you want me to– the way that you deserve to be loved.”
“Oh, mi amor…” Alejandro had whispered back, all remaining semblance of anger draining from his body once understanding clicked into place. “Perdóname…”
The Colonel reached out, taking Rudy’s hand into his own, and placing kisses so soft onto the other man’s knuckles that it felt like he was merely brushing his lips over flesh.
“My love, my life, my heart… If I have your love, no matter what kind, then that is more than enough for me.”
To say the argument made their relationship stronger would be an understatement. They communicated more, voiced any worries or their needs, cleared the air before anything could fester. They flourished together and only grew more madly in love with each other as time passed.
Not to mention that Alejandro became more acutely aware of the tiny things that Rudy did for him to show his love– and began to do the same. Topping up the spice rack that Rudy heartily used at mealtimes before they could fully run out, cleaning his favourite pistol before he had to do it because Ale knows just how much his lover hated doing it at the end of a long mission.
Months later, Alejandro can’t rightfully remember who had told him about the idea in the first place, but he was quick to bring it up to Rodolfo the second he had the chance. He explained how a couple shows that they love each other by tapping three times anywhere on their partner’s body. Rodolfo, touched, says that it sounds like a wonderful thing to do.
It’s when Alejandro and Rodolfo are lying in bed together, limbs tangled together as they exchange sleepy kisses that Alejandro feels it. Three taps. Three taps. Three Taps. Three taps with a break between each sequence. I love you. I love you. I love you. It’s beautiful and almost overwhelming enough to bring tears to his eyes.
From there, Alejandro never again doubted Rudy’s love for him, especially when he felt three taps on his wrist as Rodolfo slid a gold band over his ring finger half a decade later. I love you, the taps whispered.
“I love you.” Alejandro said, beaming with adoration.
have a request? send one in!
Another thing about Rudy is his friendly fire dialogue!
Rudy says “Shoot the enemy, ¡pendejo!”
I’m bringing it up because, compared to Alejandro’s dialogue (“Don’t shoot at me ¡cabrón!”), Rodolfo’s sound much more violent.
Unlike Alejandro’s words that tell you to shoot anyone but him, Rodolfo’s words have a slight focus on the fact that you can’t even shoot the correct person and has to tell you directly to shoot the enemy
I don’t know if i’m delusional (i am) but does anyone else share this sentiment…
(Yeah, i do reattach most of these to Ale since I don’t have any better characters to compare him to + they’re a package deal)
First ever post and I’m making it about Rudy. (I’ll be centering a lot around him…)
Still not over the fact that Rodolfo was all beaten up and bleeding from the head (on top of smoke inhalation) in Borderline and yet the very next day he’s driving Alejandro around to meet up with the 141 members that were sent over to Las Almas.
I believe a whole fic was made around this too. Hear me out on the fact that Rodolfo is far too stubborn for his own good and needs to ensure Alejandro’s safety even if it means going against medical advice… Alongside the fact that he might’ve not been at his full potential during the campaign either because of his injuries. (That guy even gave Ghost a whole boost to get up some terrain during the breaking Alejandro out mission I believe… is he even okay after allat???)
Alejandro: Let’s fight. I’m in a shitty ass mood right now.
Rudy: About what?
Alejandro: I don’t know. What’s your favorite animal?
Rudy: …cheetahs?
Alejandro: Fuck cheetahs.
The wedding
Ship~ AleRudy (Alejandro X Rudy)
Type~ Fluff
Finally, after Years of being friends, years of being war buddies, months of being crushes, finally years of being partners, then weeks of being fiancés. Now Alejandro and Rudy were getting married.
Boy were they both scared, Rudy didn't come out to his family, and they were coming. Thankfully Alejandro's family was welcoming of the two, and they loved Rudy. Alejandro's sibling's loved Rudy, and Rudy loved playing with them.
Rudy was in the dressing room getting ready, with Alejandro's mum helping. Alejandro in his room with his dad.
"Thank you, ma'am, for helping." Rudy said, sitting down at the vanity as the older lady started to do light makeup onto his face. "No problem, dear, and please call me mom."
"How do I look?" Ale said stepping out of the changing divider and showing his dad. "Great, but your tie is messed up." The older man said walking towards his son and fixing the tie.
There was a knock at the door. "Alejandro, you have 5 minutes." Soap said on the other side of the door. "Thanks, I'll be out in a second. You can come in." Soap opened the door enough for him to slip in. "Ready?" Soap said walking over to the two men. "Yes, and no..." "What's the matter?"
"Rudy's family will be here and knowing them they'll most likely be the least supportive and disapprove the marriage." "Well, if they say anything, TF 141 can kick their asses for you." "Thanks, let's get going."
Alejandro stood up, and the three of them left the room. "I'm gunna go check on Rudy, you head out, I'll be there in a sec." Soap said walking the other way. "Alright see ya later."
Soap went off to find Rudy. Once He reached the door, he knocked. "Come in." Soap opened the door, seeing Rudy, in the traditional Bride's dress, but with a white suit shirt and vest onto.
"Bloody hell, you look amazing Rudy." Soap said, jaw still on the floor. "Thanks." Rudy said with his usual smile looking at Soap in the mirror.
"You got about 5 minutes btw." "Great, he should be done is 1." The older lady said, starting Rudy's eyeliner.
"How you feeln' about this?" Soap said sitting on the chair beside Rudy. "I didn't come out about being trans and Gay to my family. So I don't know how they'll react..." "Ya Ale told me about that, but don't worry, me and TF 141 can kick their asses for you guys." Rudy laughed a little, "Thanks, Soap."
Soap stood up and fixed the wrinkles in his suit. "Well, I got to go get in line, see ya soon." "See ya." Soap left the room.
"Don't worry Rudy, even if they don't support you, you still have us, Ale, and those TF141 people. Plus, you're changing your name to Ale's, right?" "Ya." "Done, let's get that dress straightened out and we can go."
Rudy stood up and let the lady straining out the dress. "Ok Dear, your ready let's go." Rudy went out of the room with his husband's mom. They made their way to the sanctuary doors. Alejandro's mom poked her head in to let the guy at the piano to start. "Ready?" The woman said, taking Rudy arm in arm. "Ready."
The door's opened, and everyone stood and watched as Ale's little sister's spread flower pedals everywhere and the two walked down the aisle. Rudy spotted his family; they were sitting in the back. Once they reached the end, Ale's mom let Rudy go as He walked up the small number of steps, to be right in front of Price. Everyone sat down.
Alejandro had slight tear's he was fighting back. "You look amazing." "Thanks, you too." They whispered before Price spoke.
(I can't remember what the guy says so let's skip to the kiss)
"You may now kiss your husband." Alejandro and Rudy closed the gap between them and kissed. What they pulled apart; Alejandro had a huge grin on his face. Everyone stood up again and clapped.
After that, they all headed to the main room to eat and dance. The two newlyweds sat in the middle of a big table, with Ale's Dad, and friends on his side, while Rudy had Ale's mom, Ghost, Soap, and his sister. As they sat there talking, Rudy's family came up. "(Deadname)." Rudy's mother said.
"It's Rudy now." Rudy said looking his mother straight in the eyes. "I-. Rudy, I wanted to congratulate you." Everyone at the table was shocked. "What?" "I'm glad to see you happy. We all were expecting you to come back but when you didn't, we got worried." Rudy got up and walked around the table. "Mom..." The older woman pulled her daughter, no, son, into a tight hug. "I'm sorry I wasn't the best." "It's fine, as long as you changed."
They pulled apart, that's when Rudy noticed his dad. Surprisingly he looked nice, he dressed up for once. "Father." "(D)- Rudy, you look nice." "Thanks." "We're going to eat soon, Rudy. Let's go." Alejandro said somehow already behind Rudy. "Alright Ale, I'll be there in a sec... Hey, have you seen Gaz? he's supposed to be taking photos." "I'll ask Price, But I did see him at the ceremony."
"Alright, the foods coming out, so get in line, (Alejandro's family) first, then TF 141 and friends, finally others get in line, first family. Ale and Rudy walked over to the food table and grabbed plates.
They got their foods and just caned pop. After everyone got their food and sat down. The best man did his toast, and everyone started to eat. Alejandro noticed how Rudy was, and placed his hand on the other's supposed thigh, hard to tell because of the dress. "You ok, cariño?" "Ya, just my parents are never this nice. I'm wondering if Ghost and Soap did or said something to them." Rudy said looking at his lover.
"Ah." After everyone ate and finally, they cut the cake. They Alejandro and Rudy took a fork full of the cake and were blind folded. They both missed eat other's mouth the first time but were able to get it the second time.
Everyone sat back down and enjoyed the cake. After everyone ate. The Dj went to his mic and spoke, "Alright, Rudy and Alejandro, the floor is yours's for your first dance." Alejandro got and held his hand out waiting for Rudy to take it. Rudy took Alejandro's hand and stood up, walking with him to the dancefloor.
As they danced, they spoke quietly to eat other. "How was the food?" "It was amazing." "You'll have to thank mom, she made it, family recipe." "I'm going to have to get it off of her so I can make it for you."
After that dance was done, they finished the other dances and had a free dance. "Ale I'll be back, I'm going to change out of this dress and into the other one." Rude said holding Alejandro's shoulder talking into his ear. "Alright love, want me to help you out of the dress?" "Na, you get to do that later, my sister's going to help me." "Alright."
Rudy left Alejandro and went to find his sister. They headed into Rudy's changing room. Rudy took off the jacket and the shirt that was under it. His sister undid the back zipper and helped him out of the dress. Rudy didn't have time to get top surgery yet, so he was wearing his binder under his dress. "Which one is it?" "Uh... that one." Rudy said grabbing the less puffy version of the dress he was wearing. He put back on the shirt and jacket. They headed out of the room and back with everyone.
"Uncle Rudy, can we go take photos?" One of Alejandro's little sisters said tugging at Rudy's hand. "Sure, want to go find your brother. I'll meet you there." She nodded and ran off to find her brother.
"I'll see you later, thanks for the help." "No problem." Rudy waved by to his sister and went to where they were having funny group photos. Rudy leaned against the wall and went on his phone. "GOT HIM!" The little girl yelled, as she and one of her cousin's dragged and pushed Alejandro to where Rudy was. "Grab a prop and stand in front of the curtain. They all grabbed props, Alehandro picked up his cousin and help her on his hip while Rudy picked up Ale's sister and held her on the opposite hip, so Alehandro and Rudy were in the center and the little girls were on the outside. After the photo's the girls ran back into the party room.
"What's next?" Rudy asked as him and Alejandro sat down on a couch. "I think just some games." "Oh, we have to do the bouquet thing." They got up and went into the main room. Rudy went up to the DJ telling him they were ready for the next even. "Alright, we're going to throw the bouquet." Most of the single or dating women got in a huddle, Hongari and Soap joining in. Rudy climbed up onto the stage and faced away from the people. "I'll give a countdown, and you throw on 3, ready? 1, 2, 3!" Rudy threw the flowers and Soap caught them.
After that, they played a few more games before, it was getting close. Everyone headed outside. They stood on the outside of the sidewalk. The doors opened and out came Rudy and Alejandro hand in hand, with huge smiles on their faces. They headed to the car that was parked at the end of the sidewalk, Alejadro opened the passenger side door for Rudy, and Rudy climbed in. Alejandro got in the driver's side, and as they pulled away, they waved to everyone.
