So like, can we appreciate the different animated Tv shows interpretations of Dick?
OG animated series: He’s just a funny sweet goofy gaffy guy, ain’t he cute! Aww look at that face! until… oh… oh no… turns out murder was an option.
Teen Titans: Serious leader, will fuck you up, yet kinda dorky at times who keeps getting compared to Slade for some reason yet very much just acts like Bruce and is blind as hell. Also ✨TRAUMA✨:D
2004: You like your bones? :3 Oh you do? Thanks, I needed to know what to take first… *melts into the shadows* hehehehehe >:)
Young Justice: I make it my personal mission to be a menace and a manic with a smile and radiate annoying little brother energy to EVERYONE
I love how absolutely UNHINGED this man is, but it’s fascinating seeing every interpretation leans more into one of his traits more then the others depending on whose writing. But the murder always stays.
Honorable mention:
The animated movies: So I was here too. Okay byeeee~!
Edit: I completely forgot about young justice because I haven’t really watched it yet
EXTRA EXTRA I POSTED SOME FUNNNNN STUFFFFFFFF~!

you cannot be a fan of comics and be pro israel, or "neutral". that just shows you missed the entire point of what those fictional heroes stand for, why they were created, and how they would act in this situation.

HEAR ME OUT- GUYS SIT YOUR ASSES DOWN AND LISTEN TO MY ANGST PROMPT:
So we all know the Joker has been a pain in the ass for everyone, yadda yadda, backstory stuff, boo hoo crying and shit.
This usually leads to great angsty fics revolving around Jason and/or Tim. Usually having the best angst covering Joker Junior and stuff. I’ve seen the headcannons, cried at the fics, great stuff.
BUT, but- no guys, hear me out, consider this. During one of Tim’s episodes -I was thinking this is years after, already going through his Red Robin character growth- it triggers after a long, long, time. How it started is up to your interpretation. But, instead of Jason being the first one to find him during his episode, no, it’s Duke Thomas.
THINK ABOUT IT!! Guys, the man already witnessed his parents go mad from Joker Venom, can you imagine how he’d react seeing someone else he considers his family show signs of being Jokerized!? THE POTENTIAL!!
And like, of course he’s not going to know about the JJ stuff and already assume the worst. Other members can get involved too, but image the scare Duke -alone- would have upon first witnessing Tim’s episode!
—
This may also be me trying to include Duke into more batfam fics, but hey, that man deserves more love and attention, even if it means dragging him through some more angst- get off my back!!
Is it just me or is everytime I count Robin's I always end up with a different number?
Here me out! Here is my thought process: there's the (1st) original boy wonder (Dick Grayson) without a doubt, the (tragic) second Jason Todd, a little bit of Stephanie (3rd) but I count her anyway. Tim Drake makes 4 and Damian makes 5.
But then I remembered the little side quest with Duke Thomas (6th), then I start thinking of Teen Titans Go (yes I watched that horid show, don't ask) and in one episode there were 4 other versions of Robin (that I remember seeing, I could be wrong-). One of them definitely had red hair and I know for a fact they weren't Barbara Gordan (7th).
And for the sake of my mental health, I don't count the raven haired other Robins in that episode. Counting the forth on there own, makes 8.
So, correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge there has been eight (8!) Robin's.
I am new to the Batfam as I just recently started getting into the Batman comics, shows and movies, but GODDAMN.
I UNDERSTAND if the Robin mantle might need to be replaced after a few years, but Bruce's going through children like reading the news.
Thank you for coming to my brain dump.
It is a common saying within Gotham City that you can set your watch off of Arkham Asylum’s regular breakouts.
Founded by Dr. Amadeus Arkham well over a century ago, this government-funded penitentiary has morphed from a well-meaning mental hospital to quite literally a house of horrors. Sanctioned as an asylum for the criminally insane in 19XX, Arkham Asylum has been affected by corruption and fraud every year since its founding - a reality only exacerbated by the breakout rates that have spiked by almost 46% annually since the Joker’s posting as a publicly known terrorist.
Anybody who lives in Gotham has been affected by the persistent breakouts plaguing the asylum. It’s been the Riddler’s bombings of the subway system. It was the threat of Gotham’s water supply being polluted by Joker toxin (only narrowly avoided by vigilante Batman’s interceptions). It was literally any Halloween these past few years. Take your pick.
Arkham Asylum is wholly an ethical nightmare. Its moral values and code of conduct have completely warped since its founding, and a lack of accountability has transformed it into an unethical hovel for anybody incarcerated there. Corruption runs rampant in the system. Any bribe of any size can be weaponised, and prisoners can do anything within and including escaping.
The poor legislation and the lack of accountability likens Arkham to the El Salvador gang jails. Both of them have death rates in the hundreds, and both do not receive programs preparing inmates for reinsertion into society. The two of them have inmates who are rarely - if ever - allowed outside.
These so called ‘reformatory’ institutions are unethical, unlivable hovels for anybody incarcerated. The abusive living situations make it a wonder any of Arkham’s convicts ever even consider choosing to stay within the prison walls.
Speaking of Arkham being an unliveable hovel - asylums throughout America have progressively gone out of style within the last forty years. However, Gotham is a city that leans more towards traditionalism - a view paired with and reflected throughout the city’s beautiful architecture and the scarcity of new bills, legislations and laws that are passed as a result of the city stagnating and being unwilling to create change.
This languishing, this lack of desire for movement and progress, is part of the systematic problems that threaten to topple Arkham. It is part of why it is inhumane.
Asylums have been going out of style for a reason - both sides of the system suffer. There is a relatively low rate of recovery from patients in asylums who are mentally unwell - even lower in Gotham City. Caregivers are pessimistic about their future outlooks because of the low success rates, feeding back into the cycle with no positive yield. This vicious pattern makes it nigh-impossible for anyone within the system to get any sort of fulfilment from it.
Although Arkham is officially a psychiatric ward, it houses patients who are arguably sane and yet are sentenced to life with the mentally unwell. Take Adam Bomb for example (article linked). Convicted of terrorism after trying to blow up the city, Bomb worked with criminally insane terrorist Firefly and thus was convicted of insanity beside him despite all claims that he was not mentally unstable.
It could be argued that these inhabitants aren’t perfectly sane, but an overwhelming amount of evidence from court records show otherwise. XX% of convicts in Arkham were allegedly intended to go to Blackgate Penitentiary, but couldn’t as a result of the overcrowding in the system. This whopping XX% percent of inmates, forced to live in padded cells and treated as less than human because of an insanity that they don’t have, live in an oppressive scheme which in turn makes it more difficult for actually unwell prisoners to receive the help they require. Furthermore, inmates who are criminally insane likewise suffer - the heightened risk of assault, dangerous gangs, and trauma in result of the organised crime fester a wholly unhealthy environment for the patients in the system who are meant to be there.
This misconduct is really highlighted in 20XX’s horrifically dubbed “Haunted House” breakout, where seven inmates (both sane and insane) attempted an escape. One of their psychiatric patients (a Ms. A. Smith) was killed in the panic after experiencing a psychotic break and subsequently attacking one of her fellow escapees after watching one of the sane male inmates assault a staff member.
The tragic events that transpired in the “Haunted House” jailbreak underline the desperation of reform required within our justice system. It is crucial that we address these issues within and around Arkham, as its current state has crossed lines and boundaries that even the worst cities throughout the globe have not passed.
Now, after considering these insurmountable problems, you may be wondering.
How is Arkham Asylum still standing?
Surely, some uncorrupted Gotham official is good, right? They would have seen the corruption, the abuse, the inhumane condition. Surely, somebody would have pushed for a change.
Well - you aren’t wrong. Arkham has been the focus of almost 15% of bills petitioned within Gotham City for eight years.
But there are good reasons why it is still functioning. Why nine out of ten of these petitions are rejected, despite the obvious poison to our society that it provides.
Arkham Asylum was made by a key founder of some of Gotham’s most foundational rules and regulations, Stuart Gordon. Nevada and Maine are the only other states to decriminalise sex work - but Gotham City, too, has special permissions under the state of New Jersey to abolish the law as a result of his work. Furthermore, Gordon pushed for Gotham to be one of the first cities (although highly debated and largely criticised at the time) to allow equal purchase and selling of property by minority groups within Gotham. Gordon’s lasting contributions to New Jersey’s sociopolitical landscape are likely partially why Arkham‘s presence continues to endure despite its increasingly intrusive existence in our modern society.
Arkham Asylum stands as a symbol of justice. Despite the rampant violence and a severe lack of accountability within its system, it is the most famous (and infamous) jail this side of America. When you look any closer at the system, its flaws and corruption reveal themselves to you in a disturbingly clear fashion. Yet when we think of the law, when we consider the justice system, Arkham is always the first to mind, given its wide discussion by people around the globe.
Arkham Asylum was a lot of money. A lot of money. For the first fifteen years of its construction, Gotham government’s annual transparency records reveal Arkham Asylum taking almost 40% of the budget allocated to police and law enforcement in its construction time. This rampant fund theft and poor budget of the government, exacerbated by the relative spike in crime rate during the years of its building, proves just how long they intend Arkham to stand. Why would the government put so much money into something that they didn’t intend to run in the long term?
These factors have made our authorities comfortable. Unaccountable. Stagnant. The level of ease that Gotham’s government holds about jailbreaks trickles down to regular citizens. They face no consequences from us as a result of our being excessively comfortable with the crime they permit.
If nothing is to change, we have a clear view on the future based on the long history we have with Arkham in the past. Gotham City’s complacency allows corruption to fester, and it leaves us citizens complicit in the tragedy of crime and disaster.
It is not too late to change course.
If we don’t stop this fraudulence now, it will be too late to change course.
The first step to change within others - our society - is change within ourselves and our standards. We must remind ourselves that this crime is not normal. Remind ourselves that we should not be comfortable. The disasters, the rampant crime and the rotating door of terrorists coming and going from Arkham is not something to be nonchalant about. We have to teach our children that the standards that Gotham’s bureaucracy sets for us isn’t acceptable, and that they should not be growing up with fear in their hearts and emergency exits in their minds.
Furthermore, it is imperative that we insist on more from our higher-ups. Allowing them to continue shrugging their shoulders and telling us that the establishment cannot be changed is only going to worsen the state of our city and justice system to the point of no return. We need to pressure new laws from them, so we can uproot the corruption that they have allowed to fester in our city for decades. We must demand new regimens for jails in order for us to be able to transfer inmates out of overstuffed systems and give resources to those who need it most.
Most importantly, we have to demand better, moral legislation. Regulations that seperate the harmless from the terrorists, and incite prisoners to remain in a prison that will not be cruel to them at every waking moment.
One voice can only do so much.
Many voices, speaking as a part of an undivided unit desiring wholly for change - that will get the government’s attention. That will make them feel the same discomfort we have been experiencing our whole lives. That will lead them to forging new change within this stagnant society, one which will better both the lives of AA’’s inhabitants and those of Gotham City.
Sign this petition, and stand with me. Stand with all of us who are appealing for a difference within a society. Help us create change that will last for generations.

i get bruce is emotionly unavailable as fuck but if he can do a big personality shift into Brucie, why cant he love his kids that way? sure, Bruce struggles to show his affection and Batman is a brick wall, but Brucie? Let Brucie be how he shows love when his other mindsets cant. Let Brucie be known for kissing Dick's cheek at parties before he walks off, for calling Tim 'sweetheart', for always having an arm around Cass or Babs, for always having a hand on Steph or Duke or Damian's shoulder. When he later cannot use Brucie to initiate affection with Jason, he tries his best to make the step as Bruce.
(despite this, all his children know that when they receive affection from Brucie, it is also from Bruce. it looks like a performance but at the end of the day these are two parts of the same man and Brucie is just as real, just as much their father, as Bruce is)
one step further, he was a gatcha life kid
Tim Drake was a nightcore kid
I just thought of a au where all the Batkids are kind of like mob bosses but more in a “Red hood/kill the bad people in the city but leave the not so horrible ones to reform” way. But Bruce is good dad Bruce that love his kids and is a normal civilian that still has training form ether Alfred or still when on the travel the world training thing. But did not become Batman and is like the Batfamily webtoon Bruce. In which he is sweet and calls his kids nicknames just being a good dad/person.
Wether Bruce knows what his kids are doing is up to anyone to interpret but I think it is funny either way because the Batkids are in the living room talking about some plan then Bruce comes in and is like: Hello Jason, Dick, Damian, Tim, Cass, Steph, Duke (did I forget any base kids?) while giving them a kiss on their head. Goes and gets something and while he is leaving he hears “Thank goodness we switch to a different topic before he can in” and Bruce just smiles because he knows but does not want to put them out there.
(Babs is in the “secret” Batcave)
So the fix is that Bruce got hit with a truth serum that kind of just makes Bruce say the first thing that come to mind. So Jason still convinced that Bruce hates him asks Bruce what he thinks of him. Bruce answers like this: (be warned I do not remember how it went exactly)
Jason: What do you think of me?!
Bruce: Baby
Jason convinced that Bruce that some how found a way around the serum: What about Dick?!?!
Bruce: Acrobat Baby
Jason: Tim
Bruce: Tech Baby ( or smart baby)
Jason: Steph
Bruce: Purple Baby
Jason ,getting annoyed: How about Duke
Bruce: Light Baby
Jason: Damian!
Bruce: Staby baby
Jason: Cass?
Bruce: Ballerina baby
And I find it funny and love that in Bruce’s mind they are all baby just baby (thought I do think that Jason is “Book baby” not just baby). It is adorable and I there are other fluff fic like this I want them please. Thank you and have a lovely rest of your night/morning/evening.
We NEED to talk about the stuff Alfred has done.
I love Alfred ok he is the only one in the Batfam with a brain cell but really people gloss over what he did that efected Bruce and Jason's relationship. Is it all his falt? HELL NO there is so much in there that needed to be unpacked but I want ONE fanfic where Jason finds out some of the thing he is angry at Bruce about is not his falt. Like the "Good Soldier" plaque that ALFRED put up. Granted it was for a sweet moment in the comics that was between them but still "Good Soldier" really?
And about Bruce moving on to fast from Jason's death. Yes, Tim was trying to help. Yes Alfred was also trying to help but Tim is a 11 year old child that ran after Batman starting at 8 years old and had barily any idea of what a normal childhood should look like. Alfred is the adult in this situation. Dick is also to blame for why Tim was robin. Like Bruce was STILL RECOVERING from his SON'S DEATH and they give ANOTHER child the idea that "Yes you can be robin the exact thing his son died with" to a stubern CHILD that is Batman did not train would go out and get himself killed in the same suit as his child.
I see people tend to also not agnolge Jason trama from his parents yes some talk about Wilis abuse of Jason but what about Cathrean. The comic book writers make Jason drink and be intoxicated but I feel like Jason would sparingly drink or not drink at all becuase he saw first hand how it drugs effects adults. In versions of Jason mothers death she died of overdose on drug's and Jason finds her dead at 10(?). Drugs and aocahol tramatised his in more ways then one and people should agnolige that.
My headcanon is that Damian and Tim fight but when someone messes with the other they will threaten/maim/stab the person.
Tim will be at a gala then someone will say a racist "joke' to Damian or being to close and Tim is in the corner getting ALL the dirt on them and sending it to the person lover.
Oh you cheated on you wife? I would be ashayem if she found out.
You are in the drug trade, sell to kids, mistreat the women and are a pedo? Well looks like the GCPD got an anonomase tip and the news somehow got a hold of ALL the things you did. So did the Red Hood funny enough.
And you are publicly BANNED from ALL Wayne Gala's and Brucie Wayne has an interview on why with the biggest newspaper company.
------------
Getting a little to comfy with Timothy Drake-Wayne even if you are more than two times his age well expect a "surprise visit" to the ER.
You backhandedly make a comment about how old he is? Well lets just say you will be a bit to scared to say a word.
Refused to leave Tim alone even after he tries to walk away from you multiple times. Well looks like some "evidence" resurfaced that you could have done some serious crimes in the past.
Tim stalked Batman and Robin he saw how good good they seemed to be together and it made him realize they he will never have a relationship with his parents because they are never really around.
I would like to add on to this by saying that after they grew up sometimes when they was to feel safe or when something happends on instinced they hide in the cape.
I just adore the idea of Batman completely concealing his kids under his cape. Like I literally love it sm, so here’s how I think a few of them would have done it :)
Dick: hugging Bruce’s leg(when he was tinier) or his waist. I also like to think that outside of combat he would have stood on Bruce’s feet as he walked, yk?
Jason: holding onto Bruce’s arm usually, occasionally hugging him like Dick if he felt threatened. I like to think that when they were idle late at night he would fall asleep while hugging Bruce’s arm
Tim: Tim would be a bit nervous at first, but eventually ended up just huddling himself close to Bruce. He would often be peeking out from under the cape too
Damian: It took him a few months to agree to being protected in the cape, but one late night after detaining a rough arkham escapee he’s just so tired, and he’s nodding off and Bruce just gently lifts him up and holds him, and it’s so surprisingly warm and comfortable that he can’t help falling asleep. After that he went under the cape more often, huddling close like Tim used to(haha), and occasionally allowing himself to be held in his father’s arms.
Take this song and be sad with me
Happy something anniversary to when I made this because I love it.
Tell me I’m wrong
In young justice, in the first episode, Dick Grayson quoted 10 things I hate about you when he came up with ‘whelmed’
In young justice, in the first episode, Dick Grayson quoted 10 things I hate about you when he came up with ‘whelmed’
Batman and Robin are both out of crime scene with Robin just sitting there scribbling with some crayons and everyone’s just thinking that he’s just doodling until he turns to Batman and says “I think this is how they got him Bats, given all the evidence. They probably use the narcotic shot and then chased him down into the street to make the crash look like an accident, given the fact that we know he never drank anything that night.” You’re gonna cut to Batman as he nods and add some information that Robin missed.
i get that everyone’s like “oooo dick was so teensy when he was robin lol, that must’ve been so weird hahahaha”
but have you SEEEN an eight year old? imagine a full on 3 ft 11 child in a felt costume running around. like not “oh he’s eight” but then robin is built like a full ass teenager. no, none of that. imagine an EIGHT YEAR OLD standing above a crime scene, with chubby cheeks and all going-
“holy homicide batman! looks like whoever did the devilish dead really had it out for this guy!”
THIS NEEDS TO BE A BIGGER PROBLEM.
and it’s the most gruesome, horrific, bloody crime scene ever. and there’s just:
“don’t worry officers! robin on the case! 🤓👦”
edit for confusion!: he’s not taller than Alfred he’s standing on a rock
ironically Jason Todd also happens to be the Robin who looks the most like Bruce
It’s kind of a constant topic of discussion that the Robins look similar, but what I think is really interesting is the effort the artists put into there designs so that they look similar alone, but totally distinguishable when they’re next to each other. (this doesn’t include steph obviously or damian because he was made to look like Bruce and talia)
Dick, for instance, clearly has the straightest hair as well as lighter eyes than Jason, but darker eyes than Tim (that sounds a bit fickle but trust, you’ll understand when you see the two of them). His nose is also very clearly straighter and narrower than the other two.
Jason, on the other hand easily has the curliest hair out of the three and his eyes are the darkest blue. His nose is also the widest of the three.
Finally Tim who has the waviest (i’m not totally sure how to describe his hair) out of the three. His eyes are also very clearly the lightest and he has a much smaller button nose (this is probably due to his age but it’s still a nice distinction)
I think it’s super interesting how they chose to do this because it allows each Robin to feel like a separate character, but the second they put on the costume they all become the same Robin everyone knows and loves. Idk i just think it’s neat

i talked about bruce's biggest fear being the IRS, but i was blind: it's obviously CPS
honestly it’s not even weird that he died twice at this point, what would be weird if he hadn’t died at least once
this is what I'm getting from the DC fandom right now
Tim and Bernard would obnoxiously coparent Damian so hard scheduling visitation and making up crazy lies about Bernard having a fling with Bruce (that’s actually how he met Tim) but Bruce was too controlling during Bernard’s pregnancy so he had to end the relationship and now Damian only sees his dad at night and every other weekend
. . . Funny idea my brother and I had one day: What if the batkids continuously adopted one another?
—
Jaybin: Yeah, B is in the middle of the adoption process, so...
Dick: Hey. You know what'd be hilarious?
Jason: Huh?
Dick: If I adopted you. That way, you'd be Batman's grandson. Make him feel old.
Jason: . . . 'Aight bet.
Jason lived with Bruce, he was Bruce's son, but much to Bruce's annoyance and irritation Dick managed to snag the legal rights over Jason, making him Dick's "adoptive son." But, it wasn't that big a deal, Bruce guesses. Anyways, that's how Jason became Jason Todd-Grayson-Wayne.
—
Now, Jason did not like Tim when he came back from the dead, definitely not fond of the little f*cker. However, he became somewhat okay-ish with his existence after Bruce's "death" and, also, thought it'd be funny.
Jason: Hey, pretender.
Tim: What?
Jason: So, you have no legal guardian since Bruce died.
Tim: He is not dead.
Jason: Sure, sure, sure, anyways, you need a legal guardian and I don't give a f#&$ what you do.
Tim: . . . Elaborate?
Jason: I have the papers printed out already.
And, thus, Timothy Jackson Drake-Todd-Grayson-Wayne is born and also Bruce's expression is hilarious when he finds out. Dick celebrates having a grandson and Jason realizes quickly how he's f*cked up whenever he receives calls from Tim's school that he dropped out of or has to get a call from the hospital when Tim has his weekly near death experience...
—
Damian was much easier.
Damian: Timothy, I have heard the most ridiculous rumor that you are Grayson's grandson and adopted by Todd!?
Tim: Oh, yeah, it's funny.
Damian: . . . I want in.
Tim:
Damian:
Tim: Bernard, you want in on this?
Bernard: Hell yeah!
Damian is a bit to proud when he holds up his new birth certificate, stating "Damian Thomas Al Ghul-Drake-Todd-Grayson-Wayne-Dowd." Bruce is really, really not impressed and Cass is so glad she's manages to avoid this odd family tradition...
So, by law, Damian is both Bruce's son and great great grandson, Dick's great grandson, Jason's grandson, and Tim and Bernard's son. Bruce eventually forces them all to a courthouse to get paperwork done so he can make them all regular siblings and all his children, but they all complain the entire time and Tim accuses Bruce of taking him from his Father, Jason throws in some fake tears, Dick makes himself dramatically pass out... The press eat it up.

Omg this is such a good series so sad the authors worried about it being ooc bcs I already can’t separate it from canon in my mind it’s so well written!!!
If you're a fan of Bernard Dowd, you should definitely check out this series of fics!
I love that the author explains it as a coming of age story gone wrong.
