I just finished Veilguard (already created a new character and started her) and I have so many emotions. The TWIST at the end, I cried for a sold 10 minutes. Why did no one tell Rook or ask if they were okay??? I’m happy Rook and Lucanis are happy together at the end though.

After a moment more, she turned and made to leave the dining hall, regret rolling in her stomach. Had this been the right decision? Should she have taken the chance with Lucanis, despite everything? Could they have danced around each other’s wounds and hurts without hurting each other? She didn’t know. And now she never would.

Sooooo I've finally played and finished Dragon Age: Veilguard (I cried so much it's actually not funny). Anyway I've seen a lot of hate towards the game, except for the obvious (Fuck you BioWare), and I wanted to put my two piece in that nobody asked for because I absolutely love Dragon Age and I have put so much time and effort into the games over the years.
I have a lot of pro and cons for the game but some seem nitpicky and just my personal opinion but I am only going to talk about a few things that I feel are important (For my anyway.)
So first things first, the thing that I loved about the game is the fighting style. It did take me a good minute to get use to it because I was so used to playing Inquisition, the thing I liked about the fighting style is:
1: I like that you can switch between 2 weapons which you can't do in the other Dragon Age games (unless you chose rouge) and I like that you can switch between them instantly
2: The fighting style itself. It made me actually feel like I was doing something instead of just holding down one button (Like Inquisition)
Now onto the next thing I love. Making your character. See I'm covered in lots of tattoos and piercings and apart from Cyberpunk I haven't found a game that lets you have facial and body tattoos so when I saw I could cover my Rook in tattoos it made me happy because I could make her look like me. Another thing that I found super important was the pronouns and the option to add top surgery scars. It doesn't apply to me, I'm a woman BUT quiet a few of my friends are Nonbinary or Trans, they like to game but as you know, most games don't have that option so the fact they finally feel. I want to say included (I'm not sure that's the right way to put it) to be able to make their Rook look like them
CLIMBING. ACTUAL FUCKING CLIMBING. In Inquisition there's a quest where you go and find shards and goddamn the amount of times I've tried to climb and fail to get these fucking shards pissed me off (lovingly) so to see you can actually climb makes me happy (Seems stupid I know)
Decisions. You're decisions actually matter!!!! SLIGHT SPOILER!!!!! So on my first playthrough I chose to be a Warden and you go to D'meta's Crossing do what you do and find the Mayor. I chose to save him and send him off to help the Wardens, that was that, didn't think about it much. Fast forward to Lavendel and you have to go and find some missing Wardens, because I chose to save the Mayor he was there to save said missing Wardens
Lastly the thing that just that made me happy was the companion quests. I don't know about anyone else but I did wish they were slightly longer but I love that every companion (In my opinion) got a well thought, decent companion quest. I found that it helped me get to know my companions a bit better
But. And hear me out.
WHY IS THERE NO SMOOTCHIE UPDATE!?!?!?!?!? I want to be able to go to my lover (Emmrich my love) and give them kisses but also I wish that there were more romance scenes.
Anyway that is quick rundown of what I thought about the game.

Last night, I was on TikTok, and I saw another artist draw all their Dragon Age protagonists. So, I spent the last day or so doing the same because why not. I'll probably make another Rook just to romance Lucanis and to use my Lavellan Inquisitor.

Passed university: Nope. Most of their magic training came from their parents, and all other academic subjects were homeschooled.

Gotten tattoos: Oh yes. So many. Usually to mark important events in their life, but one was because of a crush. (Surprisingly, not Lucanis)
Gotten piercings: Nope! Not against them, just never got around to it.
Had a broken heart: Not romantically, but their friendship breakup with Tarquin hurt a lot more than they were willing to admit at the time.
Been in love: Just with Lucanis.
ARE THEY
A cuddler: Absolutely. Much to the delight of their favorite touch-starved Crow. They both sleep better in each other's arms.
Scared easily: Depends! Of cultists and blight? Nope. Of spiders and snakes? Yes, very much so.
Jealous easily: A little. Savar doesn't think they're easily jealous until they see someone else flirting with Lucanis and then it's like "Oh... Oh I don't like this feeling at all..."
Trustworthy: Depends on who you ask. (Just don't ask Tarquin and the answer is yes.)
FAMILY
Sibling(s): None. They are, however, related to the Inquisitor without either of their knowledge (for now). Dorian is technically their cousin-in-law.
Parents: The Mercar parents think Savar is dead. After the job in Nessus forced them into hiding, they were told they could never go back home, and have had no contact (aside from the odd covert observation from afar) with their parents since. They send anonymous gold home when they can, as an apology.
Children: Hell no.
Pets: Eventually (post-game) they adopt a mabari with Lucanis. He is their child. (Debating them also adopting a wyvern because the image of a baby wyvern snuggled up to a mabari warms my heart)

My beautiful Rook, Loviata Ingellvar, modeled after my most recent D&D character. After about 80 hours, I have finished Veilguard. I'm doing some achievement fishing in an earlier save right now, I only have a few more that I want to make sure I get.
I found the game lots of fun and the lore rich but easy to follow. This is my first DA game, and honestly my first RPG with real-time combat. I'm bot good at it and played on the easiest difficulty, but I had a good time!
I'm already planning out a second Rook, but I will be sad to leave this one behind. I know she and Emmrich will live happily ever after until the end of their days.
