Dungeon Meshi - Blog Posts
I was supposed to write a paper, but my brain decided to fixate on an au that vaguely entered my mind at 3 am. Now it’s 6 am and I have a whole chart to share and ask questions about.
So I’m really into Linked Universe @linkeduniverse and I’ve also been watching Dungeon Meshi. Mush them together and that’s the au.
Before going into this, note that relationships between characters are altered so things don’t get weird. I’m not a big shipper. So if there is any romantic relationships, it’s likely between Link and Zelda (Or some other canon relationship).
All the notes are done in Procreate and I was writing with my finger so don’t judge my handwriting.
Red means I’m pretty certain that I want that character in that role. (Still taking input on them tho)
Blue means I have an idea but, I’m uncertain.
Purple means I’m really uncertain and would really like some input.
The Touden Party came pretty easy to me. The only issue is Marcille. I initially had Legend as Marcille, but I have some pretty fun ideas if Legend is Shuro instead.
At the moment I have Twilight as Marcille. Which I honestly like. I mean he uses dark magic of which Chilchuck/Four has some gripes about, has big sibling energy with Laios/Wild, and is an adult who Senshi/Time views as younger than he is. The issue comes in with Twilight’s relationship with Falin/Hyrule. I don’t really know their dynamic that well so idk if Twilight would match Marcille’s desperation. So input on that would be nice.
I quite like the idea for Shuro/Legend’s party. The only grievance I have with it is that Legend is my favorite Link and I would like him to be more present for the story. But if I must sacrifice favoritism for the story I will.
I had initially been hesitant about these roles but I’ve decided that I quite like them. Though I’m super unsure about who should be Mr and Mrs Tansu.
Wars as Kabru was a no brained to me. I think out of all the Links he’s the most assimilated into society and is the resident human expert. I have general ideas about the rest of the party, but Daya is giving me some trouble.
To be honest, I’m in the middle of watching the anime so most of my knowledge about these characters are from being on social media. So I would greatly appreciate input on these ones in particular.
These ones I just thought would be fun.
As for the Canaries, they’re also a group I know very little about so help would be appreciated. One thing to note is that I thought it would be fun if all of them were characters from Hyrule Warriors.
I have literally no info on these characters aside from them having a relation to Senshi/Time. So idk if the Kokiri fit.
Lastly this is a list of Minor characters. These ones aren’t too important to the au, but I thought it might be fun or interesting. I don’t have many ideas for it tho. So if anyone has any suggestions, I’m open to hearing them.
If you suggest a character because a plot point that could be a spoiler for me, still feel free to share anyways because I will enjoy the show regardless of being spoiled.
This isn’t anything super serious. I might make a couple mini comics about it. But this is all just for fun. I’m not trying on a be super rigid with the story.

All jokes and horny aside I think my favourite thing about labru is that. They both suffer from a very strange sort of loneliness.
All of Laios' friends are either Falin's friends first or coworkers that only befriended him after he proved himself a good boss. Kabru is the first person to meet Laios and be like. 'I want to be his friend i want to understand him'. Even after getting reasonably closer and getting a good look at what a freak he is hes still like. 'He's a good man and he's gonna be a good king and I want to call myself his friend'.
And meanwhile Kabru is so used to rebuild himself into whoever the other person might find charming and Laios is the first person hes met on which not only this does not work but it backfires. The first person who sees Kabru fumble his words and speak his heart and say 'this one. This is the one i want to be friends with, not the nice fake one'.
A definition of loneliness that is about being in the middle of others and feeling like you're under a glass dome separating you from everyone else. Wanting to be a monster vs fearing being a monster which in both cases just means that your human skin does not fit. Spending years dreaming of the day you just can have a drink with someone without a voice in the back of your head telling you you are doing it wrong, you are BEING wrong.
And it takes months years even of beers together in the evening and walks and afternoons spent studying and prepping for whatever big event and talking casually that turns into deep conversations and sometimes arguments and then making peace and realising the other will not just drop you because you disagreed on one thing... slowly but surely until one evening after beers you'll realise. Oh you are like me. You cannot make the voice go away but you hear it too. You are also under the glass dome. Maybe we can be alone together. Do you understand what I mean is this thing on

god i really thought you people were lying about laios and kabru just for the sake of pretending like there is a gay little thing going on when its questionably textual at best but this shit is for real fascinating. unprecedented. master manipulator kabru playing both sides operating behind six layers of sublimated yaoi to obsessively plot laios' downfall. and on the other side of the coin notable Grade A Grass-Fed Freak laios touden experiencing a completely normal crush on the first pretty man to demonstrate polite interest in his passions and hobbies. i can only imagine laios is gonna be out here milking minotaurs like 'hm. if kabru was here now...i wonder if he would enjoy this too..... that would be nice (:' whilst kabru is pacing a deep furrow in the cobblestones clear on the other side of the dungeon vowing up and down that he will commit to sucking laios' dick meat clean off the bone if it might bring him one step closer to seeing his head on a pike
okay i knew it was coming but its kind of killing me how obtuse people are being towards toshiro (im not fucking calling him shuro and honestly yall should stop with that too). should he have told laios how he really felt about him, sure, yeah, but im going to go off on a limb here and suggest maybe! maybe! he's been raised in an environment where it's actually like legitimately unheard of and taboo to be very open and straight forward about his feelings. the entire party has been calling him by a name that literally isnt even his own because he is so used to quashing down his own reactions to others. like i think other poc diaspora dunmeshi fans might agree with me here but he just reads like someone whos not bothered enough to correct every microaggression thrown his way. because that shit is exhausting. and after like five hours of laios bugging him about stories of his homeland why would he have a good opinion of him. genuinely. im not saying laios is entirely at fault but neither is toshiro. i love laios too but it is Very Weird that toshiro gets the brunt of their friendship's falling out (ill circle back to this)
also to preface this i am a farcille shipper so im. not pushing for falin/toshiro. but people acting like his affection for falin is somehow not relevant or he has no devotion to falin at all is CRAZY. immediately after being teleported out he threw himself back into that dungeon and didnt eat or sleep properly to rescue her. we literally watch him collapse from it. after multiple episodes emphasizing the importance of nutrition and caring for yourself and your take away from a man willing to toss that away is that he just. doesn't care for falin? why is he in the dungeon then? answer. quickly. granted he's not as onboard with the whole black magic thing but his concerns are literally valid and before we see falin chimera he seems to have been talked down from reporting them all for it. its the proof of his concerns of the use of black magic that he decides to go up and report them at all. his bond with falin isn't nearly as strong as marcille's bond but its also not nothing. ignoring that or minimising his own sacrifices is such a nasty bad faith disservice to his character.
speaking of bonds. toshiro doesn't hate laios. guys. his last act this episode was to give laios and the rest of the party (yes, even black magic user marcille) a way out of the hole that they'd already dug for themselves. fleeing to the east and leaving falin to the elves isnt the best case scenario but it is one that lets the majority of the party survive whatever's coming. its the realistic play. is this the act of a man who hates his former colleagues? is he wishing harm and further misfortune on them? his actions speak for themselves. you guys are being way too hard on toshiro and its really fucking telling. this goes for white viewers especially
People who get so heated about the toshiro-laois fight that they think toshiro genuinely hates laois are incredibly silly to me like. yes laois gets on his nerves and the fight came about because toshiro let a lot of annoyance simmer for a LONG time instead of expressing his feelings but once that tension resolves through their stupid fight he is able to see more clearly and realise he does not HATE laois, he ENVIES him. It just seems like such a blatantly obvious part of his character that people just can't grasp for some reason?? You don't hate someone and then talk to them about your unsaid feeling for his sister and give him a bell to ring if he needs you. You can dislike whatever characters you want but I can't stand when people mischaracterise characters to such a huge extent. Learn some basic media literacy.

im finally watching Dungeon Meshi/Delicious In Dungeon and i feel like a senshi shaped hole in my heart has finally been filled
ive got beef with dungeon meshi
So, its established that dwarves have a heat tolerance of at least 180C/356F (the boiling point of olive oil). This is established in the episode where they fry shit and Senshi sticks his thumb in the oil and even says its 180 even if he doesnt specify F/C
This is fine. This makes sense. My problem is with the part where they boil the undine. Water boils at 100C/212F which is lower than the boiling point of oil but Namari and Senshi still jump away because ooo ouch lid hot hot
The lid can be hot hot but for them to release it and the undine to have stopped fighting just a moment before it would just barely be past the boiling point of the undine which we're gonna assume is the boiling point of water.
My point is how the fuck is Senshi unbothered by the heat of boiling oil thats 180C but he and Namari are blown back by the ouch too hot effect when the lid is around 100C.
