Lily easily hummed her agreement to Kaia's comment about some days favoring one meal over another, taking a few more bites of her own food while she listened.
The mention of Xavier made her snort, covering her mouth as she did a so-so motion before swallowing that mouthful of food. "Shockingly enough, not so much from him. He's practically a carnivore, so he's one to talk. I do try to keep a fairly balanced diet, all the same."
Letting Kaia continue, she nodded along once more since that also makes complete sense, and honestly doesn't surprise her at this point.
"So it sounds like we'll be making cookies whenever we can get together to do some baking, then," she mused playfully, not that she'd complain! She's partial to cookies too, after all.
"Oh, wait! Before you leave, what color do you think the jacket should b—" Not looking away from the clothing rack in front of her, she grabs the sleeve of the person nearest to her without thinking, and realizes a little too late that it felt... Different. She turns, blinking; the person she'd been talking to had left, and beside her instead was...
"Wait, you're—! Lily?! You're Lily, right?! Oh, my god, I am so sorry, I totally thought you were someone else! Gosh, and this is the first time I'm actually talking to you, too..."

Lily was more than a little startled to suddenly feel her sleeve grabbed while she was looking for a new jacket to replace her favorite one that has... been through it. It's getting a few small holes in it but she's already mended it so many times it's time to retire it.
She blinked in surprise at Kaia for a moment before she started laughing, keeping it relatively quiet for the moment so they don't draw too much attention.
"Yes, I'm Lily. You're Kaia, right?" She asked, hoping she doesn't make a fool of herself.
At Kaia's concerns about how this is the first time they're speaking, she shook her head with a smile and waved a hand dismissively. "It's alright, don't worry!" She reassured easily "Do you need help finding the person you're here with?" She offered, tilting her head slightly.
⚠️; WAY too cute for this world!!! you're gonna give someone cuteness aggression! (me!)
Awe hun! Honestly that should be your warning! <3
Lily's nose scrunched up ever so slightly in amusement at Kaia's happy dance, honestly finding the action rather cute. She won't say anything just yet though, not wanting to go flustering her and making her choke or anything. So instead she opted for just focusing on her food and watching Kaia analyze her own dish.
At the question, she hummed. "It tends to vary based on the time of year, but in general I'm partial to rice and stew or curry," she answered after some consideration.
"How about you, for that matter? What's your favorite food?"

The idea of doing something similar to an outfit swap made Lily giggle, nodding approvingly. "I'd be willing to do that, it sounds like fun!"
When the server showed up, she leaned back slightly to make it easier for them to put down their food, thanking them quietly.
"That's true, I wonder how many people would notice that it's not our usual styles..." She mused thoughtfully as she took her first bite of food. Once she had the chance to process the taste, she hummed happily and nodded.
Quickly swallowing her food to not talk with her mouth full, she added "No kidding, this really is good! I need to make sure to come back again at some point. This was a wonderful suggestion!"

"You don't have to be a good artist to be good at different forms of art." Lily reassured, amused by how much such a simple observation cheered Kaia up. "I still think I'd trust you to pick out an outfit for me."
She's perfectly content to watch Kaia get so excited and ramble, propping her head up for now.
Taking a moment to thank the waiter, Lily turned her attention back to Kaia and nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe we did? If we did I don't really remember it, but I probably wouldn't have noticed since I would've been too focused on my books..." She mused just as thoughtfully. "We should absolutely go together sometime, though!"

"We absolutely could!" Lily beamed, already having a few ideas for simple things they could bake together. Cookies, or even cupcakes, since they could do a lot of decorating, and not have to worry about Kaia handling anything involving heat for long...
Setting aside that thought for now, she let out a small laugh at Kaia's dramatics. "You just seem like the type, I can't quite put my finger on it," she admitted honestly, settling her cheek in her hand for the time being.
At the question, she nodded. "I've been to the library a few times, usually when I'm studying and need a change of scenery but minimal distractions." Though, now that she thinks about it, she really should make more of an effort to try and visit the library...

Lily quirked a brow at Kaia's analysis, humming as she considered before doing a 'so-so' hand wave, only to laugh when Kaia admitted to just trying to find someone to balance out her own chaos.
"I wouldn't say I'm impeccable at cooking or anything, and I prefer baking, but I'm at least generally good at making things that are edible." She teased lightheartedly. "I'm actually more into reading and needle craft for completely non-work hobbies." She admitted.
"As for you..." She started, trailing off thoughtfully as she tapped her chin. "I feel like you're the artsy type. Fashion, perhaps?" She mused, but seemed a little uncertain.

Lily found herself snickering at Kaia's attempts to defend herself, holding her own hands up slightly in surrender. She's hardly in a position to argue since she doesn't have evidence one way or another, after all.
After placing her order, she turned her attention back to Kaia and laughed softly at the questions, waving a hand at her playfully. "Well, what do you want to know?" She tried, quirking a brow playfully. "Perhaps we could start with hobbies, for getting to know each other?"
That feels like a safe enough starting point, and can actually say a lot about a person. How active they are, how much they practice coordination skills outside of training, a glimpse into other possible interests, things like that. It's also a good basis for an outside-of-work friendship, and good inspiration for future gifts!

The best part of Kaia’s reaction is the fact that Lily hadn’t even meant it in a romantic way. So seeing her get so flustered prompted Lily to snicker, smiling at her innocently as she fumbled her way through trying to move past that topic. "No cooking for you, got it." She teased lightly.
Deciding to have mercy on her, Lily left that conversation be to focus on the question being directed towards herself. "As for the food, I don't tend to be too picky. I'll likely go with one of the soups, since something warm and filling sounds absolutely perfect right now."
She turned her attention back to the menu, humming thoughtfully as she debated which one she wanted to go with.

Humming thoughtfully as she followed after Kaia, Lily ended up laughing with her quietly. “If they have a personal chef then yeah, food may not be the best of gifts unless it’s something you made yourself.” She mused, her tone playful as she followed the server to a table.
She nodded to Kaia explaining her train of thought, her expression soft. “I understand, don’t worry. You know they like receiving gifts, and you like to prove that they’re on your mind. It’s sweet.” She reassured as she sat down finally, setting her shopping bag beside her carefully and well out of anyone’s way.

At her sheepishness regarding not knowing the requester very well, Lily gave her a few reassuring pats on the arm. “Nothing wrong with that. Hm... What do you know about them? Are they a foodie at all? Did they know what you planned to be out doing?”
Even little things can help figure out what the other person may be expecting, after all!

Lily went through the transaction easily, laughing quietly at the peace sign as she followed her out of the store, but staying close to the wall while they figure out where they wat to go. "I think there's a few new places, from within the past few months?" She hummed thoughtfully as she looked around.
She shifted her bag to settle it on her wrist, crossing her arms as she considered. "Hmm... I had a pretty light breakfast so maybe something a bit heartier..." She mused, cupping her chin as she considered their options and what was nearby.
The question regarding souvenirs earned a small laugh. "I suppose that that depends on the person. Some people are satisfied with food as a souvenir, but some prefer to have something more long-lasting, like a trinket of some sort."

"It's hardly stolen if it's freely given, but yes, you can have my number. It'd be rather hard to coordinate if I didn't, wouldn't it?" She asked playfully as she offered the phone back to Kaia, then offering her own in turn.
"And I can definitely share my schedule with you. It really would make it easier for planning to train together, and we can fine tune the plan some over lunch." She reassured, finding Kaia's bubbly excitement so endearing honestly. Cute.

All of the compliments still made her cheeks flush, only to turn a deeper red at her teasing. Lily shot her a playful look, reaching over as though she was going to smack her arm, but not making contact just yet. They're not that familiar with each other yet. "Oh hush, you." She pouted.
The request for lunch made her hum in thought, tilting her head slightly as she considered before shrugging and offering the other hunter a smile. "That sounds good to me. I don't have anything important going n today, so I suppose you can steal me for a while longer." She teased

She looked at the jacket curiously and felt it curiously, humming happily "Ooo it feels nice!" She beamed, checking the size before taking off her white jacket to try on the blue one. "I think this is actually a really good fit. Good choice!" She praised, turning her attention back to Kaia.

At the prompting she looked through the jackets they were in front of, humming thoughtfully. "That's what my friends usually say, I'm easy to shop for." She laughed, pulling a black hoodie off of the rack and feeling it thoughtfully.
"I can't imagine that they did," she snorted, shaking her head. "From what I've gathered, Hunters are generally the type for 'work hard, play harder'." She hummed as she put the jacket back on the rack to keep looking. "We really should go on a mission together! It doesn't have to be a hard or big one either, something small would be better for getting to know each other's styles. Or we could try some training together first?" She offered.

Lily nodded her agreement, crossing her arms again casually as she listened. “Fortunately the only gifts I’ve received that I didn’t... feel terribly partial to, were all little knick knacks I could display and be done with.” She admitted with a small snort. “My clothing style is pretty simple, so that helps a lot.”
Kaia’s excitement earned a small laugh and more enthusiastic nod. “Of course! Honestly it’s kind of hard to get to know everyone, what with us all ending up on different missions and things like that.” She mused “Even worse that I’m not really a drinker, and that’s their go-to bonding activity after work.”
Her commentary about her now-absent companion got a small snort of amusement from Lily, shaking her head. “I suppose so, but still. At least a little warning isn’t too much to ask, right?” She hummed before shrugging dismissively. She sure wouldn’t know.

"I get that, trust me." Lily reassured, shaking her head with a chuckle. "I can't count the number of times I've defaulted to neutrals for others, but it hasnt failed me yet!" She snickered.
With the questions, she nodded with a sheepish laugh, putting her hands of the white jacket. "Mmhm! It's really comfy and not too heavy, but it's not trapping heat as well as it used to, and the pockets are hanging on with a prayer." She admitted, even showing her.
Kaia's offer for company earned another nod of agreement "Sure, I don't mind!" She answered easily. "Plus then we can both tease the person who oh-so-cruelly abandoned you in the middle of the store." She teased lightheartedly.

Lily couldn't help the small chuckles that bubbled up at Kaia's excitement, nodding along as she casually crossed her arms. "Of course!" She reassured with a relaxed smile. "I do my best to make sure I remember people, especially my coworkers! With how work is, the last thing I'd want is to be put on a mission with you and then not remember your name." She admitted, keeping her tone lighthearted and playful.
She listened to Kaia's rambles easily, humming thoughtfully and cupping her chin. "A jacket could make a good gift... Depending on the person, and the thought going into it." She mused, head tilting slightly. "Though, if the person is picky about colors, your best bet might be neutrals that can pair with anything. Black tends to be a safe bet since it doesn't look dirty easily, and goes with everything. Though, that's a general answer, and still depends on the person."
For a moment, Lily almost forgot why she was there to begin with, laughing a little. "I'm actually here looking for a new jacket myself. Mine has been through a lot and I've mended it enough... It deserves to retire." She snickered
