I do love that scene in the man trap where uhura chastises spock for not reacting emotionally to a dead crewman because it could be kirk and "he's the closest thing you have to a friend" all the while spock has spent the entire time since the death announcement looking like he's about to throw up.

I know we all like to talk about Kirk grabbing Spock's arms in the "not in front of the klingons" scene and how it's something he normally does before kissing people but like, can we talk about how Spock does the same to Kirk at the end of Amok Time because I for one cannot stop thinking about it.

Like, what were you going to do there Spock? Were you going to finally do with your captain what you know he's done with all those people who you wished were you?? Were you going to grab your captain by the arms and kiss him on the lips in an expression of pure, illogical, unvulcan joy and love??? Did seeing this man alive fill you with so much relief and elation and oh so human affection that you couldn't help but mirror what he would do if put in your position with someone he loved as much as you do him???? Gay.

Star Trek manga? Guess that means spirk is now officially yaoi- *gets shot in the head*

Oh, so the Enterprise is getting in the way between he and Spock?

There, problem solved.

For reference, the first panel comes from the Star Trek manga, volume 2. Spock asks about Uhura because she was missing the previous days, after her memory was wiped by Nomad ("The Changeling").

Can you imagine? Can you IMAGINE? Carrying the pain of loving him so absolutely, so irrevocably, and also the regret of never having truly given yourself to him. So years pass and you just watch him grow old and die, knowing you have a hundred years more to live and yet, you hold onto the pain, because it carries all the memories and emotions that you spent so long denying. In the end, you know that it is the only thing you have of him, an admition, a surrender, too late.

And then you find yourself in another timeline all together, where you and him are so young, so hopeful, but also, so naive, so easily fooled. Now you have to watch yourself pulling away from him all over again, deying everything, pretending not to love or hurt. And you just want to shake that younger version and scream: "You don't have that much time! Stop leaving him behind and hold him while you still can".

But you cannot. This is not your universe, and you have already fucked their lives up so much, how could you also tamper with this? So you step aside and let them discover it in their own time, hoping they have much more than you did. Clinging to the pain and memories once more, all you have left is the hope that someday, when your body is too tired to keep on living, he is waiting for you, and you will never have to be apart again.

This AOS one-shot is a lot of fun. It's an academy era fic in which Uhura dares Jim to learn any language she chooses, fluently, within one month. If he wins she has to go on a date with him, if she wins he has to report to Admiral Pike naked 😂 of course, if you need to learn to speak Vulcan FAST, it's only logical to go straight to the source and ask for lessons from the only Vulcan professor at the academy.

Day Fifteen: Comfort

Bone-weary and feeling every one of his 160 years, Spock sank into his chair at the end of a long day helping the colony on New Vulcan. His hand strayed to the side table next to him to clasp a locket. Up sprang a holographic projection, the off-key singing echoing through the empty house.

  “Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!...” The image of James Kirk serenaded the tired Vulcan. Spock knew the entire projection by heart, but that didn’t stop him from deriving comfort from seeing his beloved t’hy’la. The projection looped continuously as the Vulcan dozed off.

I found this one an interesting take on a Pon Farr fic. Its AOS and the destruction of Vulcan, and resulting severing of countless mental bonds, has set off a wave of premature mating cycles for a remaining Vulcan males, including Spock. It really highlights the mental turmoil of the Plak Tow and the complete stripping away of logic, reason, compassion or any other remnant of self. It does have some tags for possible trigger warnings so check them out before diving in. It was intense in places but I found it compelling and enjoyable 😊

The brass are trying to force Spock into a command of his own, something in which Spock has no interest as he would rather focus on his science duties and stay on the Enterprise. Well versed in regulations, our cunning Vulcan explains that if he and Jim were legally married then Starfleet couldn’t split them up and he’d be free to remain in his current post. What could possibly go wrong!?! 😂😂😂

This is a lovely AOS fic by the excellent @museaway. After their battle with the Narada the Enterprise crew are back on Earth and Jim takes off to his farmhouse in Iowa to escape the media frenzy. After a bit of miscommunication he finds Spock on his doorstep with a bag and reluctantly inherits a house guest. This is a lovely, gentle fic where they get to know each other better in the aftermath of shared trauma.

‘A hell of his making’ is a great AOS fic full of angst, and don’t we all love some angst when it comes to our boys! 😂 Spock is struggling with the knowledge that Jim is his T’hy’la but that he has been harmed by Spock’s own hands (choking him on the bridge) one of the most grievous transgressions in Vulcan culture. How can he reconcile his guilt and self recrimination and find a way to remain at Jim’s side?

Trektober Day 5 Prompt: Evacuation

The crew of the Enterprise has to evacuate immediately when the life support systems fail. The nearest planet is Tarsus IV. Jim does not react well to going back.

Kirk bod appreciation #4: The Curves. The Back. Poetry in motion. 

Here we honour the Kirk ‘hourglass’. The broad shoulders tapering into that lower back - and then flaring out again at those hips. Those HIPS. Those hips DO NOT lie. He has a broad back and such proportioning that one doesn’t always notice his hips aren’t so typically narrow, but stand him next to Bones or Spock - or even the girls - and just look at how endowed they are. Hot news: men have hips! And boy, is that hot. AND as if they weren’t gorgeous enough just existing in this flawless form, he actually swings them. Can we just correct another bro-ism: Kirk does not ‘swagger’. Kirk swings his hips. Like a sassy bih. This is one of the many reasons why James Kirk is special and utterly precious. 

Season 3 is the icing on the cake: he fills out a little, everything fits that bit tighter, and WOW. Look at that TURN, and the peek of the taut, firm Tum™. Hello friend, welcome. Kirk has what one might call the ‘bubble tum’, like the ‘bubble butt’. Thicc from the back AND front. Indeed, the shrink-wrapped glutes go without saying - it is a crime that we are never gifted, despite the shirts ripping constantly, a single moment of those *pants* ripping. That ass not able to be contained, bursting for freedom like his nips in Amok Time (which didn’t at all have sexual connotations…NOT AT ALL). Spock blushing bright green. Bones rolling his eyes.

Now don’t be thinking these are just dribble-posts, like the bros do over the girls; no. This lightly humoured appreciation is partly in response to those who criticise Kirk’s weight and build. Criticise WHAT I hear you cry??! I know. I don’t get it either. So here we are. Kirk, our intelligent, compassionate bookworm; our soft, smiling, curvaceous, chubby hunk who don’t need no six pack to be Jim Kirk. It’s part of his character; it’s part of his physical presence, how he moves, how he walks. How he proudly inhabits that bod - and what that says about him. He’s a man, he’s unbound; he’s his own version. He communicates, enviably, body confidence incarnate, while busting stereotypes and being utterly true. What an icon. We love him and celebrate his beauty inside and out.

This is terribly true. I don't really ship Spirk as much as I ship Spones, but a few tears escaped me while reading it. 😢😢

Oh, poor Spock! How much pain he is suffering!!

Spock is my favourite character (McCoy as well). I am a very sensitive and empathic person, so I could feel the emotions you mencioned. Such a wonderful analysis!! I LOVE!!!

And also the dedication of Nimoy developing his character... I wish there were more actors like him ❤️❤️

We all know that the song Maiden Wine slaps, but I was wondering about what it actually means.  And then I realized— if we take a minute to consider it in the context of Kirk and Spock’s relationship, it takes on a heartbreaking significance.
