Minecraft Story Mode is a legitimately good game
his outfit arc throughout s2 sends me bc why does this guy just ends up losing more clothes as the season progresses LMAO
soren- in a cycle of being “abandoned ”” and abandoning that he was put into and keeps perpetuating
ivor- filled with so much bitterness bc ever since a young age he felt like the world is unfair and that there needs to be “fairness
gabriel- keeps the lies going bc he feels like he is giving people someone to look up to and feel protected by, something he didn’t have when he needed it the most during the worst time of his life.
ellegaard- wants to be respected for her own merits and “be the best” but feels that relying on help invalidates what she’s done and that she needs to not be “weak” and do it herself this big grandiose thing, and make up for the lie with said big grandiose thing.
magnus- wants to “free” more than anything and he feels the most trapped in this life he’s in now
I was looking for out of context Infinity Train videos to remind myself what the characters sound like when I found one of those “name a better show than x” compilations. While Infinity Train wasn’t in it, Gravity Falls was. And y’know what else was? Minecraft Story Mode Season 2!!!! Technically a video game (not a show) but it brought me joy.
Og Treehouse gang was fucking broke. They’re broke as fuck. They live in a goddamn treehouse with only one room, they don’t even have a bathroom. They Barely scrape by with numerous odd jobs around town. They survive by eating copious amounts of suspicious stew. Power of found family friendship can’t pay the damn bills.

In the very first episode, if you lose the building competition and then say “Losing is the worst” or something to that effect, Petra says, “Enough! I’m calling a moratorium on moping!”
I believe “moratorium” means to end something.
I like petra's random use of big words like WTF is a moratorium??

Do you think Jesse ever rebuilt his Treehouse in Beacontown? Whatever happened to it?
The treehouse was deconstructed and rebuilt in the Order Hall’s historical archives. It’s one of Radar’s favorite stops on the “History of the Order of the Stone” tour.
I'm a bit of a character outfit/costume nerd and I was wondering if you had anything to share about what went in to making the outfits for The New Order's season 2 outfits? I can tell that Lukas and Petra keep the more "hero" appearance because they are still active adventures, while Axel and Olivia have more casual clothes becuase their focus has shifted from being adventurers to being leaders of Redstonia and Boomtown respectively. (Also whoever decided that Axel should wear a flannel and a skull shirt was so right and deserves cookies.)
The goal for season 2’s costume design were to reflect two things:
1. How things had changed in the characters’ lives since the first season - Lukas is still an adventurer, but a new one focused on stories and exploration, hence his new (frankly, anime-inspired) outfit. Petra is still clinging to the past which is why her armor is still the same one from the portal arc, just endlessly repaired and cobbled back together. Axel and Olivia have traded adventuring for running their towns, so their clothes reflect that… and then of course Ivor is a ninja now. Naturally.
2. How the server/world on the whole had changed and evolved - Something we never got the chance to show is that Beacontown is a hub city connected to every other town by a complex subway and mail tube system. It’s even connected to worlds within the portal network thanks to complicated and well-organized use of the enchanted flint & steel + the atlas of the old builders. This means that people from all over the world(s) are coming together in Beacontown to make it a melting pot of all kinds of styles and appearances. Characters like Radar in his hoodie + tie combo, Jack’s urban pirate look, Stella’s power suit.. these are some of the looks meant to reflect the increasing diversity of Jesse’s world and move the art direction away from some of the semi-medieval/fantasy vibes that were still hanging around.
This has been on my mind and the brain rot of mcsm is strong I need to talk about it with someone who's a fan of the game anyway
I don't know if I'll get over the fact Jesse doesn't process the fact that they died they just be shocked for a minute then just brush it off

YEAH dude just keeps going… tbf if you’re talking about the moment in ep8 he didn’t get much chance to process it anyways since he’s gotta get straight back into the fight, but the weight of it all probably hit him hard on the night he got home once everything’s settled :( same goes for the rest of the group too

Flashes of lighting and thunder rumbled in the distance. She wondered how that was possible, considering she was underground, before realizing that it’s the Admin, he can do whatever. And she couldn’t stop him.
And Jesse couldn’t stop him.
And that’s what scared her the most, because Jesse . . . Jesse was invincible. They–the New Order of the Stone–had all been invincible after they’d found their footing in the world of adventures, but they’d slowly left that behind, building new lives. But Jesse had always managed to keep a foot in both worlds and she was darn good at it. But their new enemy was powerful, so much more powerful than any they’d faced before, and Jesse had put on a brave face.
But it was her fake brave face, the bravado she used when the world was ending and she had to be the one to keep it all together because who else was going to? (Nobody, that’s who. Jesse took the world on her shoulders and the rest of them just let her, let her think she was responsible for it all, for all of them.)

The people were Jesse, Lukas, and Radar.
Turns out I am not the only person who has written and tagged a platonic relationship between them, but I am only the second and the first one was written in February. Mine was written last August.
Guys, we've had like EIGHT YEARS to write about them.
. . . part of me feels like a hypocrite for saying this because I do enjoy reading Dipper/Pacifica and Harper/Ivor, but in Gravity Falls it's a lot easier to find platonic content to go with the romance.

Jesse would immediately start an investigation (I have proof: s1ep6 A Portal To Mystery)
Petra would be on alert for any threats but wouldn't really care so long as she and her friends were safe.
Lukas would try to find any friends and family of the deceased to tell them about this person's death.
Olivia would also investigate, but she'd be less invested than Jesse.
Axel would go "Sweet! A dead body! Wait, that's not sweet . . ."
Jack would have a breakdown over his old friends.
Radar would freak out and wonder if he was next.
Stella would go, "At least it wasn't me!"
Ivor would want to rob the corpse. Harper would stop him.
Romeo, Cassie, and Hadrian would be the cause of the dead body. Mevia would figure that Hadrian was the cause of the dead body.
Magnus would figure that it's just the consequences of living in a town full of explosion-happy griefers
Ellegaard wouldn't care. She'd go "Oh my, a dead body!" clean it up, and go about her life.
Gabriel would search to bring the killer to justice.
Soren wouldn't care unless it was one of his friends or an Enderman. Alternatively, he would care because it would remind him of Magnus/Ellegaard's death.

The only kind of hero I can admire is the one who can defeat a three headed ghast and land in the coolest way possible, but still makes decisions like stepping on a pressure plate linked to a piston that kicks them in the face.

So this is cursed to me but I'm glad someone else sees the resemblance between our two one dimensional* bleached blonde purple wearing I-don't-think-Stella-is-a-valley-girl-tho stereotypes who have a rivalry with a main character and get redemption arcs (Stella's doesn't happen every time but it still counts)
*who later turn out to be not actually one dimensional!

Wendy even gets a turquoise bandana like thing in the last few episodes, which I thought was funny because it reminded me of Petra
I dunno if this counts as a "confession", but Petra is basically Wendy (Gravity Falls), right?? In a totally good way. I think that's why I vibe with Petra's character so much. I just cannot see them without thinking of the other!

I (25 m, author and adventurer) was betrayed by my best friend (24 m, terrorist) not too long ago. We had grown up together and were friends and part of this building group, but he started taking things too far.
He decided to mess with my friends and steal some stuff, and that lead to a chain reaction of a city being blown up.
When they were arresting him, I said some hurtful things about surrounding him in lava and burying him in a hole.
I feel kind of bad about it because he apologized.

Apparently MCSM is getting a bit of a resurgence bc people hated the Minecraft Movie trailer so bad. I've been into MCSM for several years and Gravity Falls for about one year, and the Book of Bill coming out made that fandom just explode.
Both my fandoms (well, two of them) are having a resurgence. At the same time.
Happy New Year's everybody!
Why do we constantly have to have “humans get transported to another world” storylines when it comes to live action adaptations? Why can’t it just be in-media-res? Why can’t the Minecraft movie follow the novelization where a guy randomly awakens in Minecraft with no idea who he is and just needs to learn how to survive… you know… LIKE HOW THE GAME IS. Why do we gotta bring people from outside the game world into Minecraft? Why do they look human but everything else is a CGI nightmare? You couldn’t pull a Detective Pikachu and just set your god damn plot IN Minecraft from the start?
And most importantly …
WHY CAN’T THE WHOLE MOVIE JUST BE ANIMATED? You’re already animating like 95% of the film already, just fucking make an animated film.
